So my wife and pooch waited outside. The basic 3 ingredient SINGLE scoop inside was $11!! They have priced themselves out of consideration for any future visits. Why they're getting one star is because of their service (namely Sara F) though. After walking in - and the line was surprisingly short - Sara asks what size; answer: small. Brought my kids in for ice cream and was on a phone call with my first responder spouse who is working remotely. Each of the kids ordered a kid size ice cream, which is supposed to come with one free topping. Staff did not communicate this to the kids and the kids did not think they were allowed to get toppings so they took their ice cream in hand. At check out at the register I asked if they were supposed to get a free topping on kids ice cream and they said the children didn't want any. I apologized as I knew this was a misunderstanding, and asked if the children could please have their topping and one of the two workers said yes, they could. He used a small cup to put a scoop of marshmallows, and placed a KitKat directly in the other child ice cream cup. They did not tell me there would be an additional charge, but then charged us an extra dollar for each child. A single Kit Kat segment $1 5 marshmallows $1 Female staff worker was incredibly rude when explaining the charges for the cups which made no sense since we only used one additional cup. I told her that no one explained there would be an additional charge to add a topping after the fact. She blamed the other coworker and said it was because "he was new". Someone needs to step in and teach customer service - we will never return to this location. Terrible. read more

The guy took disproportionate ingredients to make it and then he makes only 3/4th of the box ice cream and then put chocolate ice cream on top 1/4th portion. Worst experience ever. I am hoping this review reaches the right eyes and ears but whoever is the owner to the north county San Diego franchises needs to do better as a whole when it comes to learning how to cut losses and maximize profits. I have been going to CS since there used to be locations in Solana Beach and at the Del Mar Highlands and it is honestly sad to see what has become of the company. Prices are astronomical and while I could argue back then that at least they gave generous portions, that is definitely not the case anymore. I ordered a medium (Love it) at this location today and could see most of the sides of my cup, nor did the amount even pass the rim. Additionally I tried to utilize the rewards program by punching in my number but for whatever reason this location has decided to put it in the back with the register so that unless you ask....it won't get counted (not to mention this also means more work for the employees?!?). Safe to say this has become a money hungry business that evidently does not seem to value having loyal customers. Long since gone are the days of employees singing passionately for their tips, long lines out the door, expansive options, and delectably creamy ice cream and generous portions to bring out the child again in anyone. As much as I love Cold Stone Creamery, I will not be a customer of this particular franchise again for a few reasons. 1. The service has been very inconsistent, admittedly good at times, unfriendly at others. Satisfactory most of the time. 2. Part of the inconsistent service showcased with very inconsistent portions. We almost always order the "Everybody's", largest size option and it was often served not completely filled. That might sound trivial, but at $25, one would expect a full serving. Because i love Cold Stone, I contacted them to let them know I was disappointed at the serving and the fact that the price of "Everybody's" had about doubled since I first became a customer of Cold Stone. The manager replied, curtly explaining to me that they had to charge that much because of rent, salaries, and franchise expenses. That made me very curious so I investigated a bit and discovered that the Poway location is the highest priced in the county. Their prices are nearly double some other locations (for this size anyway). The manager's communication with me was rather short in tone and was clearly irritated at me and my concerns. He gave me a "complimentary" replacement and about 5 or so days to get it. I did not go get it because neither I nor anyone in my family will be frequenting this particular business again. I recommend you steer clear as well. Sorry for the negativity but I thought you should know about the character of the manager and this particular location. read more

Before discovering this Cold Stone Signature Creation, I never found the need to go to Cold Stone because I think their ice cream is incredibly expensive. It was about $5 for the small or what they call a "Like It." But the ice cream is now my new guilty pleasure and what I like to reward myself with once in a while. When I order the Cheesecake Fantasy, I ask for it with French Vanilla ice cream instead. It's mixed in with actual blueberries and strawberries and the temperature of the ice cream freezes the fruit a bit and that is my favorite part! I don't ever yelp but I was very frustrated with my experience. My fiancé is pregnant and she had a craving last minute before they were closing. First off I know that showing up to a business close to its closing time is pretty frowned upon however I called them ahead of time saying that it's a 12 minute drive for me and I told them I would be arriving 10 minutes until closing and I was assured that was ok and they close at 9. We arrived at 8:52 and walked in to two younger females working and helping check out a family in front of us. They told us that they were closing and would not serve us even though the family ahead of us was ordering. The younger blond girl looked physically frustrated that we even walked in and sighed at us when we referenced calling ahead. I just want to preface that had she just told me on the phone that they were closing down I would have been fine going someplace else but telling me to drive there and then denying us service was very upsetting. read more

Because of my reduced mobility, she went in to ask if they could make us something different. The guy who made it for me told her that he could not take it back because he couldn't serve it to anyone else (Really?!?). He then said that I had eaten some of it and so I could not get my money back. I was pretty upset when my wife told me this and so I hobbled inside to talk to the manager. The guy and the only other employee there said that they couldn't give me a refund even if they wanted to. They don't have the authority - only a manager does and there isn't one working. Keep in mind, I had originally just asked for a different scoop, not a refund. The fact that Coldstone would want to lose a customer over a $5 charge is crazy. No. My cookie dough ice cream was legit vanilla and two blobs of cookie dough... That's not quality. If you work at any Cold Stone, the expectation is to evenly mix the ingredients into the ice cream. The manager needs to talk to his folks about proccess.
