Friendly staff and cute ice cream shop. I got a scoop of the mud pie ice cream and it was delicious.

    Brownies are almost gone!

This is a convenient location, next to Angelika movie theater. It makes a great treat either before, during, or after a movie. I love that you can customize your own ice cream sandwich. I usually get the chocolate chip cookies, or a brownie and a cookie. Two brownies is almost too rich, because the ratio of base to ice cream is off. And the portion is almost too big, unless you had a really small meal or you're sharing with someone as dessert. I am annoyed that they got rid of butter pecan ice cream a while ago, so now I usually just get cookies & cream. Heating the cookie definitely helps, so that it's not as stiff. And if you're getting it to go, they can put it in a little round sides container. Service is fairly fast, unless you get someone that wants to try a bunch of flavors. And obviously peak times like Saturdays will be busier. You van eat next-door on the Angelika patio, they have lots of seating and some have umbrellas.

It's very spacious inside and there are outdoor seating for my doggies too! You select your cookies from the front. There are instructions on the overhead chalkboard that tell you what to do. You can also buy the cookies separately for 2.75 or 8.95 to make the sandwich. You can even choose to warm them up! My husband and I got the gooey butter cookie, which by the way was phenomenal. It was soooooo buttery and delicious. I really should have gotten it for both sides of my sandwich. We chose nuttella chocolate chunk for the other side. That was a bit too rich but still good! We also got one cookie of the month to go! It was a yummy pistachio chocolate chunk.. that was very good! So far the cookies we chose were just super! The guys at the register were very friendly and helpful. Fast service and helpful. They helped us choose the ice cream. We got the salted pretzel caramel. That was fantastic! I really enjoyed the dessert. I haven't had anything sweet for almost 4 months, but today I treated myself out! It was glorious! However I think it'll destroy my diabetes numbers for today, but im glad I got to cheat with this cookie! I'll definitely come again on a cheat day!

It's been years since I've been to Baked Bear. I remember not liking it the previous time I went but it was surprisingly good this time. It's nice that you get to mix and match the cookies/brownies to make your ice cream sandwich. Tons of fun options. I got the vegan chocolate chip ice cream sandwiched between a chocolate chip cookie and snickerdoodle. The vegan ice cream was surprisingly good and the cookies too. I kind of wished I could order just 1 cookie and ice cream. It was a lot and I only managed to eat half of my ice cream sandwich. They do have a "bowl" which is a bit of a larger cookie with ice cream. Kind of like a pizookie. Several tables inside - we had a large group and pretty much took over the whole place. Service was quick and friendly.

I arrived at the store right when it opened, so the cookies I ordered were still warm! The staff mentioned that usually, you have the option to warm them up if they're not fresh out of the oven. I found myself torn between two cookie flavors (seasonal pretzel caramel and snickerdoodle) before realizing that I could get one of each for either side of a cookie sandwich. The cookies had a fantastic texture; a crunchy outside and a soft inside.

The Baked Bear has really tasty ice cream cookie sandwiches, and the flavors are great. The service was just okay -- a bit slow and not super attentive. Still worth it for the dessert if you're craving something sweet.

All our custom order came out great. Lots to choose from. Simple instructions as to how to order. Quick service Cookie monster cookie was a blue cookie with different bits of cookies in there (Oreo, snicker doodle) Bear bowl comes warmed up with your choice of ice cream. Optional drizzles for 50 cents more. I was disappointed in the tiny drizzle but it actually was the perfect amount and it would've been too sweet with the large chocolate cookie at the bottom The place is clean and quiet.misic was at the perfect volume.

YUM!!!!! If you are in the mood for a sweet tasty ice cream cookie sandwich, this is the place for you. I have been here a few times and each time has satisfied my sweet tooth for a few hours. They let you sample the ice cream before adding it to the cookie. They can warm the cookies if you want. Customer service is always great and the place is always clean. We usually get the dessert and sit outside but inside is nice also. If you go to the movies next door, bring in you ticket for a discount!

When I was pregnant, The Baked Bear became my ultimate go-to for satisfying late-night cravings. Conveniently located next to the Angelika movie theater, this spot is open past 9 PM most days, even on weekdays. That makes it the perfect place to swing by for a sweet treat after a late dinner or a movie. My go-to order is a warm Cookies and Cream cookie with their creamy Cookies and Cream ice cream. The cookie is always fresh, and the ice cream is just the right amount of sweet--it never disappoints. If you're in the area and need something sweet, especially later at night, you've got to check this place out!

Love me some ice cream sammiches. Love me some hype for a spot, so i decide to cruise here. Did the mix match for my cookies and chose some interesting flavors. Maybe I didnt choose well, it was just fine. Dont see the hype for this place aside from the logo and that you can make your own sandwich. Honestly, would rather go old faithful with the premades as its kind of a pretty penny.

I loved Baked Bear. I wouldn't be well if I had one close! I would get it all the time!! Their white chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I've ever had (and I love them and get them almost every time I see them). The Cookie Monster ice cream was great. Clean place and nice patient service (I haven't been to one before we needed a little guidance with how to order). Pricing was good and I would recommend for your dessert craving!

Cookie Monster Cookie & White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie with Carmel Pretzel Fudge Custom Ice Cream Sandwich

I was recommended this restaurant by my Airbnb Experience guide! We stopped by after our tidepooling experience. The Service: Friendly employees who answered our questions and provided samples of the ice cream. She also provided some great recommendations. The Food: We ordered the build your own ice cream sandwich. Our two cookies were the Cookie Monster - a blue cookie with oreos and the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. We decided on Caramel Pretzel Fudge as our ice cream (per the recommendation of the employee)! We also got our sandwich pressed which warmed up the cookie and doesn't mess with the integrity of the ice cream! The employee was also able to cut the sandwich in half for us since we were sharing. The Cookies and Ice Cream were on the sweeter side, but I didn't think it was too crazy sweet. I generally like less sweet desserts and this was enjoyable for me. Cost: It was $9 for the cookie which is on the pricier side. The Atmosphere: Well lit restaurant and there's seating available for you to enjoy your sandwich after you order! Parking: There's a plaza next to the restaurant that will let you park for 1 hour for free. We didn't see it until we were walking past it to the restaurant! We ended up parking across the street in a different lot and paid $12 for it :( Even if we did see the lot, it was pretty full since we visited on a Sunday afternoon and the area was rather crowded. Overall: Prices are a bit high for a dessert, but it offers a cool dessert to enjoy with cookies and ice creams that are made in-house! Definitely not for someone who doesn't enjoy super sweet things.

Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. Hard to find many other places. They also have tea and coffee, and my husband and I LOVE their hojicha latte, which boasts a nice earthy-to-sweet ratio. If you want a grounded flavor without getting another coffee, try the hojicha latte! The store itself is quite small, selling sweet treats, drinks, and even flowers through a collaboration with a florist. They have about 4 tables outside -- recommended for small parties, unless you come when it's empty with a group. Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.

The main seating area is almost always full, but there's more indoor seating in the back through the hallway (where the bathroom is), plus some outdoor seating to the side. The drinks are really good. I always get mine half sweet, and the flavors are consistently great. They also have a ton of cute, picturesque desserts. They're a bit too sweet for my taste, but you can tell a lot of care goes into making them and they're definitely tasty. Parking can be tricky downtown, and it can get busy with lines, but it's totally worth it for the drinks, desserts, and overall ambiance. FYI, they have a new location up north in Scrips Poway, it's cute but slightly different aesthetic (umm more industrial) and is in a strip mall, so, way more parking!
