I went to school in Springfield so I found this restauraunt while walking around the neighborhoods around Missouri State. Its in an odd location but really close to the school. It was the best find ever! I had several birthday luncheons there and the owner's daughter makes delightful cupcakes that pretty much got me through my senior year. Its a wonderful place to go for breakfast and lunch or friday nights they have dinner with an out of this world pot pie. If you go to school at Missouri State just take a stroll down Cherry street and you will find this treasure on Pickwick. I also recommend walking around the adorable neighborhood which is beautiful in the spring, summer and fall! read more

This little gem is just one of the great businesses in Rountree. On a nice day, I love eating on the patio at Tea Bar & Bites. And on colder days, the interior (which has little rooms like a house) is warm and cozy. The food is always delicious and well made, and I love getting their tacos on Taco Tuesday (they're a great deal and, considering the quality, the best taco deal in town). Their house wine is also a great deal at Happy Hour. Highly recommended! My only complaint: They're not open on Sundays :-( read more

Let me tell ya. This is the place to be. I couldn't believe I was in Springfield when I stepped in here. It was in high contrast from the rest of the food culture in the area. In a world where consumerist, materialism has high jacked the food industry into a "profit over people and lively hood" system. This place takes you back to simpler times and ideas. The food is great. I don't have any recommendations for you to try. Ask what they have and build a dialogue with the staff. They will not lead you astray! I recommend walking to it's location from your current one, parking is bad from what I hear but that doesn't matter. Park up the street if you have to. This place is very charming but very tiny.. My husband and I just came in for deserts. I had a chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganche, my husband had a scone and lemon bar. Then the lime and thyme potato salad is a delightful refreshing and unique surprise. Very tasteful. The cafe salad was spinach, lettuce, tomato, onion, craisin with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. This place is absolutely amazing. I was just introduced to it and I can't wait to bring others to discover it, too. I had the pleasure of going on Falafel Friday, which was SO delicious. Many times when I've ordered falafel in a restaurant that's not strictly Mediterranean, it's just the balls of falafel but this was served on perfect pita with greens and tomatoes and divine sauce. The ambience of this place is terrific and despite it being sort of cramped it's cutesy and hip in a good way, it is truly laid back and you see eccentric grandmotherly types alongside younger people enjoying their meals. Everything I tried was of excellent quality. They have Oregon Chai (hot or iced)...To put it as succinctly as possible, I think Tea Bar & Bites is the real deal. Looking at their facebook page the daily specials are absolutely mind blowing, something different and delicious-sounding every single day. My husband and I ate a late lunch at Tea Bar & Bits. We were the only patrons and the restaurant was quiet. Waitstaff were knowledgeable and accommodating. We enjoyed our food and found the quirky atmosphere to be interesting. Our food was good, not outstanding, but satisfying and a nice change of pace while traveling. We each ordered the grilled mozzarella; he had couscous as a side and I had seasoned chickpeas. We each liked our sides a lot, another good change of pace for traveling. If I were in the area again, I would choose to stop in. read more

What a cute find in town! I love that you can mix and match any teas you would like, if you are unsure of what to order the waitresses are great at recommendations. Their hummus and warm pita chips are my by far my favorite I have ever eaten and their salad are pretty delectable too. The only cons to this little treasure is that the inside is very tiny so if you want a little breathing room you have to sit outside in the garden area. Also the service was not great we waited 15 minutes at the gate to be acknowledged while waiting to be seated, I actually had to wave down a waitress to finally get a seat. After being seated we were attended to right way but once we got our drinks, salad and appetizers we again had to go find a waitress to get refill on drinks and our checks. read more

Tea Bar and Bites is a delightful and delicious place to eat in the heart of the Rountree neighborhood area. The owner, Colleen, is there all day every day and is always hard at work and very friendly and hospitable to guests. The place itself is quaint and very charming. The food is amazing as well. The serving sizes are enough to fill you up without leaving you feeling too heavy or grease-laden. My favorite is the turkey and artichoke panini...so so good! The daily soups and quiches are delicious as well. Also, I've had the pleasure of attending several of their monthly multi-course then dinners...absolutely delicious and so much fun! Sitting out on the patio is a special treat, eating and conversing in a peaceful setting with the sound of the water fountain and usually someone playing live music. I haven't yet tried their breakfast, so that is on my list of things to try! This cafe is worth visiting over and over again!!! read more
