Great place - great people - great environment The staff is super friendly and willing to help with literally anything. This is a great spot for a college student that is feeling a bit overwhelmed, wants an alternative to the nightlife, needs the feel of family... The coffee is good, and they have other options too like smoothies. There's seating available inside and outside. It's comfy and cozy. But seriously it's the vibe and the staff that makes this place. Stopped in today and realized they were closed for renovations, however... the owner warmly invited me in to look around and take a to-go cup of coffee. Excellent customer service and one of the places where the owner will remember you if you come back. Im from california and ive never walked into a place and felt right at home until i walked inside Potters House. Such friendly people. Greeted us as we walked in, told us whats good on the menu, and more! This place is such a relaxing place to be in. It is literally a house with an upstairs and a basement where anyone can just hangout and feel right at home! amazing! This place is also really clean and well decorated. I really really love this place. It's one of my favorite places to study when the library is closed or packed during finals week. It's a super cozy place, and the staff and people are always incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their smoothies and Oreo quicksands are to DIE for (and with the amount of sugar in them, you might). The only reason it's not five stars is because it can get a little noisy for a coffee shop, especially in the evenings, and a lot of times there aren't enough seats for everyone. Also, if you're looking for real, genuine coffee, this probably isn't the best place. But if you like fun, sugary drinks, they're great! Their brownies are also fantastic. read more

With comfy seating areas, great drinks, and great vibes, I would totally recommend The Potter's House. This was my first time coming, and of course, it's finals season, and they changed their hours for late-night study owls like myself! The staff is super nice and friendly as well. Potter's House - what an interesting little place. I used to come here once every few months in college because I was an RA and Potter's House was kind enough to discount drinks for all Springfield RAs and their residents. Quite a nice gesture and a testament to this establishment's do-good, ultra-Christian feel, if that's your bag. If you're looking to stop here for real coffee, you'd probably do best to look somewhere else - this is not a place to get real coffee. It is, however, a place to get insanely sugary sweet frozen drinks ranging from smoothes to oreo/brownie shakes. That brownie shake is SO. GOOD. I shudder to think of all the calories in it, but it's a genuine treat and a relatively well-kept secret. The baked treats are also very good and the prices are all very fair. Really, if you're wanting to come here and get something healthy, you can request items sans ice cream, but you really might as well just go for it. Downside: Potter's House also has hours that I can only describe as annoyingly inconvenient for it being a college hangout, and the drinks are a little too overwhelming for me to ever be a regular. read more

They have good ideas for hosting events, but severely lack the space to comfortably pull it off. When there is live music or trivia night or anything else, expect to sit in the floor and be crammed in like sardines. It actually makes it fairly unenjoyable. Also, I've been popping in for coffee once in a while for over ten years. Their product is always good and carefully and thoughtfully made. However, even as groups of students come and go (it's close to Missouri State campus), there's this feeling that one is unwelcome if they're not a regular. It feels like a BSU turned into a low budget country club. I like the place, and their snacks and drinks are worth the hassle, but it isn't a place I like to go more than once or twice a year, IF i go that often. Oh, and parking can be a real nightmare. read more

Poho is an amazing coffee shop. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They always have a smile on their face. Their coffee is also amazing. It has a great atmosphere. It can get crowded here often however, so it could be hard to study or do school work. However, if you are looking for a place to chill or have a chill date, this is the place. read more

Love potters house!! I go there at least once a week as it is across the street from MSU. They're staple is the Oreo mudslide (think Oreo milkshake on steroids) I have gone in groups of 8+ where everyone got a mudslide. Not my cup if tea though. They love when you order something different and if your not sure what you want, ask for suggestions! This place is the perfect place to go when you don't want to be on campus, but you don't want to go far either. It's great for hanging out, studying, meeting new people, and more. It's really become a second home to me over my college career. The people there are so warm and loving! I've had people claim that they're not a huge fan of the menu (though I don't understand why they wouldn't), but I've never ever heard of ANYONE having a bad experience at the "Poho" as it is lovingly referred to. It's so much more than just a coffee shop. Can't believe they're non-profit! They even donate their tips to kids at Lakeland Regional Hospital for Christmas gifts. Talk about a well-rounded, wonderful organization! If I could give them more stars I would. Fantastic! read more
