Did research beforehand to see where I could get a decent matcha in Springfield, and this seemed to be the one! I had a plain matcha latte with macadamia milk and added banana cold foam on top. The color isn't as vibrant green as I prefer my matcha and there was some clumping at the bottom, but the taste was still good. Delicious cold foam and the matcha wasn't bitter either. I also tried the Architect burrito with recommendation from the kind girl taking my order. It was delicious and full of flavor. Not usually a "vegan meat" person, but the chorizo flavor sounded best with the other ingredients of the burrito. 10/10! read more

Wonderful ambience. I'm sitting here in front of the window, jazz playing on the speakers, while it rains outside. If they had a spot for napping I would likely use it. The food is great. I love their Architect Burrito. It is overpriced, I can make the same thing at home for less money. The rest of the food is pricey too. I unfortunately am not interested in paying $3 for a cookie. What an amazing coffee shop. This isn't your streamlined Seattle ruin coffee this is what a real barista, real coffee master is all about. These baristas take pride in what they do and it's an art for them. Now about the coffee, the nitro was perfect and smooth with great flavor. You could pick up the different notes the bean provides. The cortado was just perfect with the right amount of sweetener. I had to order a macchiato and was so happy when it was authentic. Perfectly created and balance of milk to coffee espresso ratio. There is a reason this place is so highly rated. We got there at around 10 on a Saturday and the place was packed. The wait in line wasn't bad nor was the wait for our food and drinks. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The best part for me was the four berry toast. The bread was perfectly toasted and the jam was flavorful. There were big chunks of berries and plenty of butter. My mocha was not too strong like some other places. There was plenty of good lighting and comfy chairs. Every time I come to Architect Coffee I am almost always shocked at how packed the place is! Seems like they could open another location and still be booming with business. But what do I know? Last visit was great. I decided to try the Architect latte, iced, as recommended by the batista and what a fantastic choice it was. Regular latte with vanilla, Caramel, and salt flakes on top. So flavorful! I love how as a coffee shop, they don't mind if people sit and stay a while. I love the many wall outlets they have for laptops and the seating while somewhat cramped is laid out in a way that doesn't feel too claustrophobic. I loved seeing the holiday decor inside and on the windows this season. My favorite coffee shop in Springfield, and would be one of my favorites in my hometown as well. Why? As someone who doesn't drink coffee, primarily the atmosphere and the baked goods. Let's start with the baked goods. Everything is baked in house, nothing is mass-produced elsewhere. And it's very good. On my most recent visit on Friday, I had the chocolate chip muffin, and I can't tell you the last time I had a better one. The chips were still slightly melted, and plentiful, the texture was perfect. Deciding lunch was optional, I then followed that up with the vanilla bean donut. Fantastic. Very prominent vanilla flavor, specks of the vanilla bean in the glaze, a cake-like texture and not greasy at all. I'm generally skeptical of premium-priced donuts but this is the best one I've had anywhere. The tea selection is also fairly wide, including a few herbal options; I went with the South African rooibos, and was not disappointed. If you dine in, they'll also refill the water so you can re-brew, and while it won't be quite as strong the second go-round, I always appreciate this as I usually finish the first cup well before I'd otherwise be ready to hit the road. There are a variety of table options, and even midafternoon on a Friday there weren't a whole lot of empty spots, though my friend and I were able to snag a hightop table. It was a little bit crowded with two beverages + two laptops (13" and 15") + a baked good, but workable. On my previous visit to Springfield, I went to Architect with three friends and we socialized in one of the sofa areas in the early evening, a time when it was less busy. Note that Architect is closed on Sundays, so if you're only in town for the weekend, make sure to visit on Saturday. read more

Very pleased with this place! They have a large space indoors for seating. Very clean and inviting. There are gluten free treats-I tried the "donut" and it was delicious. I also got a protein ball (peanut butter & chocolate), which was great & also GF. Being GF & DF, I wanted a breakfast sandwich and the person helping me offered a side of eggs and breakfast meat-he offered a special order!! Wow!! The espresso alone speaks for itself with a rich crema and a hint of sweetness. I highly recommend a Cortada if you love espresso. Any of the espresso-based drinks will be to your liking. For you non-milk lovers they have macadamia nut milk (must try) oat milk and soy. They use a V 60 for their pour overs. They have one of the few Slayers in the state of Missouri for their espresso. Their pastries are all made in the house and have multiple choices from muffins to scones to cookies and house made poptart. They have incredible cupcakes and a featured cake that will surely fulfill your sweet tooth. Their breakfast offerings range from a breakfast croissant to a breakfast biscuit burritos and more. My husband and I stopped by what we were expecting to be Hebrews coffee to pass some time. It's been a long time since we've been this way, so when we saw that Hebrews is out and Architect was in we were curious to see if that was a good or bad thing. While a little pricey (for my taste...not necessarily in comparison to other coffee shops. Probably the average range in today's coffee world), the coffee was very good! Their displayed menu is basic but we heard all different kinds of drinks being called for, so it seems they can create lots of custom drinks upon order. While we love a good cup of coffee, my husband and I are by nooo means coffee snobs. Hubs had to ask a few questions and the barista was kind enough to answer without making us feel like dummies. I ordered "The Architect"--a latte with vanilla, caramel, and Himalayan sea salt. Hubs had a cortado. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with how absolutely delicious the latte was. Thick, sweet frothy foam that you really could taste the salt in. It reminded me almost of a "coffee margarita" with a salted rim. The coffee was smooth, rich and creamy and my only disappointment was that the largest I could get was a 12oz. (Maybe they make them larger upon request...but I didn't ask.) Husband loved his cortado. They also had some bakery items for sale, if you need a little more substance than just a drink. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed despite it being somewhat crowded--lots of people were working on their laptops and there was comfortable lounge furniture in addition to the tables and chairs. There is also a small private room that can be rented in the back, which would be great for study groups or intimate company meetings. I started off with a vanilla mocha coffee which is absolutely one of the best coffee's i've ever had. Also had to try the Architect Breakfast Burrito. OMG..i'd order this everyday and twice on Sundays. On my way out the door i had to take home two of the Vanilla Bean Doughnuts. The pastries and lemon sugar cookies are awesome! We came on a Friday afternoon. It was relatively quiet and not very busy. A good place and time to get work done and enjoy a good drink. I had ordered an iced black sweet tea. The tea itself was actually very good but they did forget the sweetener. My wife order their signature drink "the architect" and said that it was fantastic. My Husband and my Aunt really liked everything about this Coffee House. I will say, it's very clean and trendy, and the staff is nice. For me, I just didn't like my frappe, they make it with vanilla soft serve and I am lactose intolerant. I typically get coconut milk in my frappes, unfortunately they do not have that option so I settled with macadamia milk. The barista did say it wouldn't be as good without the soft serve, but nevertheless, that was my only option. My frappe was watery and very bitter. This is definitely not my Coffee House. My large frappe was over $8 and that is expensive compared to other locally owned shops and chains. My husband will go back, but he will be going without me. I really wish they had better options for those who are lactose intolerant. read more
