But that doesn't mean it's bad nor is it not worth it. It's staffed by 1-3 personable individuals, with a coffee focused attitude. They roast in-house, they have a drive-through, and have outdoor seating. There is no menu, so if you have a creative mind or ingredients in mind, the individuals will try their best to find your needs.. though they are lacking on the sweet side and teas. Can't tell you how impressed I am. So I'll try. First, this isn't a coffee shop, those have frills to keep you desiring their sugar and fake tastes. This is a coffee business. Straight up, the best coffee establishment I've been to. I love everything about it. The menu, simple. Espresso, Slow Bar, cold brew or barista's choice. I recommend all four. This is not a drive through, though you can get it to go. The flavor is in the bean, not the flavoring. They roast their own to perfection unlike other local drive thru establishments. The atmosphere is community based, you don't sit at individual tables, it's one large table or one large bar to evoke conversation, community partnerships, and a general respect for one another. They buy their beans from farmers to promote an every growing relationship, and their market is wholesale though they allow us to be impressed at their table. This isn't for the teen, or quick fix. This is for the coffee lover. I no longer have to have my beans mailed to me, because they do it right. Open 9a-5pm for now. I see them growing, expanding and changing the coffee culture as we see it. Their barista's get it. They take pride in it, and they make an incredible cup of coffee. This review is not for the coffee, solely for the service because the coffee was as good as ever. The barista working this particular day really did a great job of making my friend and I feel awkward and irritated. After asking for our drinks to go she repeatedly (like five separate times) told us that it was "not normal" to have cortados to go, so the cups weren't the right size for it and if that was ok...She asked us if it was ok and that it wasn't NORMAL in the weirdest and most passive aggressive way. This prompted the other two patrons at the bar to weigh in unsolicited and start a convo about how WEIRD it is to take a cortado to go...sitting only a few feet away from us. On top of that it took her about 15 mins to pull the shots of espresso and make each drink. That's a long time to take when it's not busy at all. So we sat awkwardly and just waited while shit was talked feet away. The whole exchange was so uncomfortable and annoying. Like to the point that if I come back and see this particular barista I will turn around and find another coffee place. I really do not like leaving reviews like this especially when I've met the owner of this place and several other workers and they were so welcoming and nice. But I feel like something should be said and I can't find the message button to send this privately. Sorry ya'll! Amazing customer service and care. Two things you must know before going to B&C for your first time: 1: They have a Slayer Espresso machine--the most customizable, dial-in-able, and thoughtfully engineered machine on the market. 2: It isn't your normal coffee shop/cafe. They don't serve specialty beverages like iced lattes, or anything with sweetners/syrups. They focus on beverages that highlight they're coffee roast(s), and give the customer an opportunity to experience their brand. I was totally unaware of this when walking in and ordering my drink, but the barista who helped me explained what kind of establishment they are and happily made my iced latte anyway. The other barista insisted that I also try a cappuccino to really get the full experience of a shot extracted with a Slayer. I'm glad I did, it was amazing. So impressed with the friendliness of the staff, and with the quality of machine that they have. read more

In town from California and have been eager to try this place. All I can say is I was blown away. Blown. Away. The fellow that served me, Jordan, was very knowledgeable, kind, and very willing to let a coffee geek like me talk his ear off. This is a legit 'third wave' coffee roastery. They properly roast to bring out the unique origin flavors of their beans. They put a lot of care and thought into dialing in their coffees as well. I also love that they do public cuppings and Areopress competitions to share their knowledge to the community. The espresso and Peru Areopress I had was spot on. The Puru had notes of caramel and nuttiness with a delightful clarity. I will be coming here every time I'm in town. I'm officially a Brick & Mortar fanboy. read more

Probably the best latte I've ever tasted. No sweeteners or syrups needed to be extremely satisfying. Just moved back into town and heard non-stop about Brick & Mortar. My husband and I stopped in for a pound of coffee to make at home. The barista came over and was very pleasant to speak with, even showed us the roasters. We used the beans to make pour over and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, the next time we went in, we got the Nitro cold brew. Not the best, but what was worse was that the barista (different person than the original) was mocking a man for coming in and asking for a frappe. I get it - not the "coffee-ist" of drinks, but also not worth mocking someone over (especially in front of other customers). If Brick & Mortar wants to be a place that encourages a good cup of coffee and conversation, hopefully they start with their own staff. The beans were good, the experience wasn't one I'd like to repeat. read more

Slow, individually made cups of coffee with care and attention to detail.
