The employees here are top notch! They'll help you choose a cup if you're new to black coffee and will serve you with a smile the whole way. All they have is black coffee (no sugar, no creamer, but only milk for their lattes). This is honestly the best coffee I have ever had, but most importantly they introduced me to the vast world of coffee. The prices are decent and the coffee is spectacular. I had heard so many good things about this place. I decided to try it out. It was 2:45pm and they close per the sign on door and website at 3:00pm. The door in unlocked my partner and I enter, realizing the time we were going to get a coffee and go. We were awkwardly greeted and advised that this is a private party. Wow, not only did I take my business to another local coffee shop I was greeted and welcomed when I entered. That Bartista got an extra tip for thier spot on game. I've been in twice. They make solid coffee and have a very strong coffee culture, but lack in social skills. If conversational skills were implemented with their vast knowledge of coffee, I'd be going there alot more often. I just covered this place on my way through an area which I usually don't pass. I stopped in, because well, I got to have my espressoand I like trying new places. I have tried several coffee shops in town and, although I have enjoyed most of them, they weren't quite as good as I thought they could be. I believe I was served an Ethiopian on this visit. It wasn't overbearing, it wasn't bitter or sour, it was fantastic. And I have felt the price for a pound of beans add other shops was a bit much and couldn't justify paying 20 bucks for a pound of beans. After having tried my first espresso at Brick and Mortar Coffee, I have no problem spending $20 for a pound of coffee and when I feel like treating myself. And the gentleman behind the counter was very knowledgeable and very happy to talk about coffee and what they have to offer, as well as educate me in areas where I was lacking. Mind you, he didn't treat me like I was ignorant. I told him I was lacking knowledge, given I had recently started getting into coffee beyond the regular cup of Joe at home. I am very appreciative two gentlemen for what he had to offer. Knowledge and coffee included. Please forgive my poor formatting, as I am trying to write this review in a hurry. Hip-hippy-hipster. Reminds me a lot of the Nashville scene. The "barista" (surely there is a newer, more hipster name than that... "coffee artist?" "bean connoisseur?") was very helpful and explained that they don't have any add-ins in house. Just milk. No decaf. A 3 oz cold brew was $4? They even had a coffee that cost 4 times the "regular" coffee because it was so rare. Surely, there are many people who are THIS into their coffee. Okay, it's ridiculous when you have your hours posted as opening at 9 and you are not open at 9:40. My husband and I have tried to go not one, not two but three times and they are never open at 9. Either change your hours of operation or BE OPEN for your customers. Get it together guys. You have great coffee but it's not worth the frustration of driving over from Nixa and you all not being respectful of your customers. read more

I have been in Springfield for business and not only is this my favorite coffee shop in Springfield, it is on my top 5 best coffee spots -- and I am sort of snob about these things. This is probably not what you expect, especially in a smaller Midwestern city. If you're not familiar with the whole artisan coffee experience with tastings and cuppings (I still have no idea what that even means and I was present during one), you might just want to head in another direction for the typical cozy coffee shops with standard coffee, espressos, lattes and the like. While they do offer those things, this is a very spartan & trendy space where they take coffee extremely seriously. Too seriously for me, to be quite honest. As others have mentioned it is a VERY hipster environment. I almost had to laugh. My husband and I did not feel uncomfortable but others visiting at the same time seemed to. The guys working there were polite but really gave off the vibe of "we are coffee engineers and this is the most serious thing in the world", so it was a tiny bit intimidating. We ordered the oak aged cold brew and it was good. I was surprised it didn't have coffee cubes, since a few other places where I get the cold brew they make a big thing of slow melting coffee cubes. I would be interested in visiting again when it is not as busy, and maybe finding out more about their processes & products. I appreciate the style and painstaking care they put into their coffee house but it's not my kind of place to be completely honest. It might be your mecca, though. Try it and see. I bounced back and forth between 3 and 4 stars and went with the latter because this place does seem high quality to me and the coffee was excellent. I also love their huge dark wood slab tables and benches. Beautiful and unique. read more

I stopped at this shop today after driving by for months. I walked in and asked for "just a coffee" and was told that was all they had. I asked if they had cream and sugar or honey. The gentleman that served me said that the coffee was so good that I wouldn't need any of the extras. I was skeptical, but we talked some more and I decided (based on his recommendation) to try a latte. He was right. It was delicious. And he didn't charge me for it (which I know is not a regular occurrence). I will definitely tell as many people as I can about this experience and will stop by for coffee again. read more
