I'm not a local and this has been only my second time doing an afternoon tea set, along with the first time going to one by myself. It was a really fun and unique experience. The entire store was very cute and the staff was very welcoming when I came in for my reservation. I really enjoyed the food, especially the scones and lilikoi/passion fruit lemon bar, as those were my favorite items on the menu. I like desserts that aren't that sweet so I do wish the chocolate desserts weren't as sweet but they were still delicious! I tried the Sakura cherry rose tea, and I love trying floral flavors, and even after getting refills on my teapot, the flavor was still strong. I really liked that you are able to purchase their tea leaves to take home. This was great since I couldn't decide which tea I wanted to try and just ended up buying the tea to bring back home. I personally wish I could have sampled or smelled the tea leaves before deciding instead of going off on the names and recommendations, but the information the staff gave was very helpful in helping me decide. This was definitely a fun experience and I wish I was able to enjoy it with a friend, but I still had a lot of fun despite going solo! 07/31/22 Let me point out a few things first before I tell my experience here at "Tea at 1024" 1st- I paid a tacked on fee of 18% for my appointed time to enjoy high tea. plus I paid ahead which I think is a great idea... I wasn't sure if I first had to say something or just find seats which was what looked like my friend did when she showed up. I have been to several high teas and the high tea rooms of Australia consist of three that I've been to: Hopetoun tea room in the Royal Arcade off Swanston st., high tea at Rippon Lea Estate, and Devonshire tea at the Fairfield boat house and tea gardens. This set up experience for "tea at 1024" is right up there as a place for high tea. Great use of decorative tea utensils, food, and tea selection. I now know that if I return to Tea at 1024 that I will need to mention in the appointment that I don't want the area that's in the entrance display area- sitting in the display area of the cafe as cool as it looked from outside is a terrible place to sit. My friend and I was burning up the whole time we sat there. We didn't have a decent fan in the corner with us -- it didn't rotate so I took the air blowing from that fan the first half of the tea experience then I turned it so she would cool off the last half.... This was terrible... this was our first time here and I know better for next time. As I stated I support small business and perhaps it was the only spot we could sit In. At the start of our experience the place was packed it's as if everyone there had made their reservation to be there early... I thought it wasn't going to be so packed. Yet we arrived and the only real seats available were the two in the display area... So this time around since it was my first time I am staying with three stars for the fact that I was sweating through the whole experience and I'm a little glad that my friend enjoyed her time. Loved our afternoon tea experience here. I have been to teas in DC, NY, Paris and London, and this is one of my favorites for the freshness of the sandwiches and the small environment. It is also relatively affordable compared to some other ones. We were given the choice of two tables and picked one. There was one table at the window that looked adorable, but it was taken. Staff was nice. First we were served a salad in a tea cup. The dressing was good. Then we got heart shaped scones. The cream and jelly were delicious. We were debating which tea to choose and the server was helpful with the selection. I got the Ethiopian-Chinese tea which tastes like coffee and was very good. The sandwiches were definitely the highlight. The bread was fresh and moist. I loved the smoked salmon with cheese. Chicken curry was delicious. Each sandwich was so good. Cons: I would definitely go back, but I'd like to point out a few areas that could be improved. The pastries were beautiful, though not as tasty. I recommend eating the salad, sandwiches and scones and skipping the pastries. It is plenty of food without them. Also, from where we were sitting we could see the staff in the food preparation area, which is slightly cluttered and takes away from the beautifully decorated room. Your imagination can run wild here at Tea at 1024... a tea service fit for Jane Austen fangirls or English ex-pats... right on the fringe of Honolulu's China Town! The service was so scrumptious and elegant!! There's a bevy of tea choices and you get to choose your own tea cup for the service. The scones were on the small side and not as yummy as the sandwiches. I enjoyed all of the sandwiches! The tea was hot and the wait staff made sure to keep the pot filled. I had to get my sweets to go as I didn't have room for them in my tummy after the teas and sandwiches. The restaurant was clean and filled with cups and merchandise to purchase. I rented the entire room for my birthday and a lot of my guest gave feedback and felt uncomfortable and felt she was sassy and rude. It felt unwelcoming. We were mindful and understanding of our 2 hour time limit, yet it felt like she was pushy about getting us out as soon as possible. I was also told when I booked that there would be an opportunity to sing happy birthday and I would receive a cupcake, but that didn't happen. It would've been nice since I wasn't allowed to bring a birthday cake. One of my guest brought me a small cake and she made it clear it wasn't allowed. Located in the heart of downtown, you might miss it if you blink! It's a cute little place on Nuuanu. Street parking can be hard to find so we parked in an open lot nearby. First of all, the service was great. Our server was professional, informative, and genuinely wanted to give us a great experience. The entire place is decorated with cute (and fragile) teacups and plates. Space is really tight so be careful about the surroundings around you. Someone from the party next to us stood up too fast and knocked over an entire table of cups and plates. They have an abundant menu of tea choices and it did not disappoint! The fruity flavors were my favorite. Now for the food. While the sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the desserts fell flat. We learned that it was prepared in a restaurant elsewhere. They are reasonably priced and their spread is delicious compared to the pricey ones I've been to, the quality of food is definitely at this hidden gem! Reservations are required and easily accessible online. Weekends only, they offer curbside pick-up and I believe they recently opened availability for their Secret Tea Garden Services! I have had tea service at Tea at 1024 three times now. First time I went alone and I got to sit in the window seat, which was very cool and I enjoyed watching everybody walking by while I had my tea. This last time I went I invited two girlfriends and we just had the best time. One of my girlfriends tried the tea of the month And another one had a tea,I don't even remember which one it was but it was so good. I usually get more of a healthy tea versus a tea that tastes outstanding. I can really compare this tea service to the veranda. I feel it's on the same level, but it is so much more laid-back and cozy. The sandwiches are so good. The scones are great. And there's nothing that I would change. First brought my daughter here when she was 4; she's now 16 when we finally had a chance to return. Still like how we can choose a teacup to use - fun to see which ones get chosen and why. Made reservations for a Sunday and we were promptly seated upon our arrival. Other than choosing your own tea, it's a set menu. Teas chosen include the Lychee black (liked letting it steep a bit longer for a stronger flavor - could definitely taste the lychee), Raspberry & Rose (could taste the raspberries - to me, the flavor was very reminiscent of rainbow sorbet), and Assam (plain black tea). The food items that stuck out to me were the strawberry salad served in teacups, smoked salmon sandwich, cheddar cheese and tomato on a pumpkin (?) cracker, curry chicken sandwich, and the strawberry shortcake. The vibe is very cute and girly, and her absolute favorite is the table in the window (although it can be a little warm in the afternoon on a hot day). You do have to reserve at least a day ahead online. There are many teas to choose from and kids can get hot chocolate. They can also swap the salad for a fruit cup. The array of sandwiches, scones, and desserts are yummy, as is the salad (or fruit cup). I'd say you get the best value for your money here as far as quantity and quality of offerings as well as the overall experience. You feel like you are in a girl's equivalent of a treehouse instead of a restaurant. Great place for birthdays, bridal showers, and girls' day out. We have made so many memories here. read more

I brought my Meetup ladies here today, there were 13 of us. We made the reservation online and then paid in advance. They let me add more people a few days before the reservation which was nice. I wish they had mentioned that for a party that size we wouldn't all be seated together, we were in the same area but there were 3 different tables. The tea cup selection was great, so much variety! I was a little nervous using a tea cup because I'm not a real adult and I didn't want to break one of their cups. I picked a mango black tea, everyone chose something different and nobody had any complaints. There were sugar cubes on the table, I'm not sure if they had any sugar alternatives because nobody asked. I also don't know if there was a milk option, I think that's a traditional cuppa but I don't like milk in my tea anyway. Some of my group was slow coming in because Nuanu street was closed off due to a festival. Tea at 1024 text me and let me know about that, but some still had trouble. The server came and asked if she could start service since we only had 2 hours, and that was fine. First came the spinach salad with berries, it came in a tea cup which was so cute. That was a good start, the fruit was fresh and the onion vinaigrette had a good flavor. Then came the scones with clotted cream and fruit jam. The scones were chocolate lavender and orange something. When I put the clotted cream and jam, I couldn't taste any different or any of what they said the flavor was. Scones aren't my favorite, they're dry but it's a tradition. Then came the three tiered platter, there were two tiers of sandwiches, and one with desserts. The sandwich variety was great, my favorite were the egg, curry chicken, smoked salmon, and cucumber. There were 3 kinds of dessert, I liked the strawberry shortcake best, the lilikoi was too sweet - which I have found for all lilikoi desserts, and I didn't even try the chocolate it looked too rich. This was a great experience, service was fine, she always made sure our teapots were full. She wasn't friendly, but she was efficient and that's fine. At $33 a person (with added tip) it was a good deal. The restaurant was cold, they had the AC blasting so I would suggest bringing a cardigan or jacket. Came here for Galentines with my sister back in February. I booked our tea experience a few weeks before our reservation date. Parking is at the Chinatown Gateway Plaza which is just a few minutes away (walking) from the place. We arrived promptly at our time and was seated in their window seating area. It was like our own little private room. People would peek into the area and would say how cute the space was. Though, it was a little warm in the space compared to the main dining area since there was no AC or fan. You get to select your tea set and tea. I got the Rose Chai while my sister got the Strawberry Green Tea. They then bring out courses of a fresh salad, scones and then the assorted sandwich and dessert platter. Everything was delicious and went perfect with the tea. The workers were also extremely friendly; checked up on us numerous of times and came around to refill our teapots. If you want to experience "Tea Time" in Honolulu, this is the place. I suggest that either carpooling into town would be best, however, there are options of metered street parking as well as another lot close by that you can walk from. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience here at Tea at 1024. I've always wanted to go to Tea at 1024 and finally got the chance to when one of my bffs invited me to her daughter's birthday tea party. There are different packages you can choose from and I believe she got the pixie tea party experience. It comes with a salad, assorted tea sandwiches, scones, sweets, choice of tea (but for the younger ones, hot chocolate). The mini tea sandwiches were all yummy. There was, chicken curry, smoked salmon, kalua pork, and deviled eggs just to name a few. For tea, I chose lychee. I'm not that very knowledgeable about tea and learned something new. I've come to tea @ 1024 a few times as a kid and it's just as dreamy as I remember going back at 19 my friend and I called in advance since we didn't make a reservation to make sure they'd have an opening for two which they did! (We went on a Wednesday) as soon as we walked in it was very welcoming and we were directed to choose which tea set we wanted to use which was a fun way of starting our time there. We were then placed at the window table which is exactly where we wanted to sit! We chose the cheapest menu option which was a perfect portion for 2! My experience was an overall great one, my one concern was that I was hoping to come here to celebrate my birthday-especially as someone who has people in their family who uses wheelchairs. I saw that Tea @ 1024 claim to be wheelchair accessible yet going inside the first thing I noticed was that it's not. The tea room also has two steps on the outside and no ramp from what I saw. It's definitely not the most spacious and you are pretty close to whoever you're sitting next so I sadly won't be able to do that anymore. But I will be back with friends read more

Went here with my mom and sister for a girl's day and had so much fun! The atmosphere was beautiful and the girl serving us was so nice! Didn't catch her name but she had brown hair with pink strands. I thought that being able to choose our teacups was a cute idea and loved the variety in tea flavors. Only one type/flavor per person though, so that's a bummer because I'd love to try them all. My sister and I got the cookies and cream black tea while my mom got the mermaid butterfly sweet health and wellness tea. The flavors were interesting and would recommend the cookies and cream for anyone with a sweet tooth. The meal had a fresh start with a spinach salad that was topped with berries, feta cheese, and some kind of dressing. Delicious and wished that I could've gotten more! The scones were also so good because of the butter and jam that came with it. the butter was so addictive. All the sandwiches were made with care and surprisingly filling. My favorite was the salmon and dill. The desserts were good as well, especially the chocolate mousse in the brownie cup! Had a great experience, the only downside was that the only parking available was street parking (almost impossible to find) or the Chinatown municipal lots. The garage across the street is a bit sketchy and the walk there may feel uneasy so stay vigilant! Not a fault for the business but just be careful. If you are looking for a great place for afternoon tea look no further! Since covid, many of the tea shops have closed, but tea at 1024 is open and following the covid rules. They even offer an option for "secret garden" tea which is at an outdoor location. We ate indoors and had our temp checks upon entering and went early enough to have almost a private dining experience. The tea selection was extensive and we each selected a different tea so we could share. The tea refills are unlimited and you get your own teapot, so we drank a LOT of tea! (That's the point right??) The food included a first course of salad and basket of scones. Then we had a variety of tea sandwiches and lots of dessert! The food is so delicious and the bread so soft. Overall experience is 5 stars. I visited Tea at 1024 right before the second lockdown and had such a wonderful time. I was going to write a review about how this restaurant is handling the pandemic, then the second lockdown hit and the owners sent out an email to their patrons that I found offensive because it was inaccurate in analyzing the medical data surrounding COVID-19 and was spreading false information. I completely understand the anger over the second lockdown and the repercussions it is causing our economy. But I cannot get behind an eating establishment that will use their platform to circulate misinformation. That is absolutely not what we need at this time. For that reason I will never be visiting Tea at 1024 again. That being said, I am giving them 5 stars because the experience I had while dining at Tea at 1024 deserves it. As I write this, Hawaii is still in lockdown but I am assuming that when everything reopens, the process will be the same so I wanted to outline it below: 1. I made a reservation request via their online system. For some reason it reserves your time for only 5 minutes, but not to worry - that apparently is just a glitch in the system. 2. The online system is just a request. I received a follow up text shortly after asking if it was okay to bump my time back by half an hour. Once I confirmed that was fine they sent me my invoice to prepay for the visit. (This was outlined on their website so I was expecting it.) 3. I got there 5 minutes early and was promptly seated. For those that have been here before, you know that one of the charming things about this restaurant is that you borrow bonnets, boas, etc. for your time here. This was also explained on their website, but unfortunately thanks to COVID-19 they no longer provide this.... so bring your own. 4. They still allow you to pick out your own tea cup. Their menu was up on display and seemed to be the full listing. 5. I was accompanied by my 6-year-old daughter. They automatically changed her strawberry salad to strawberries on honey which she appreciated. 6. Food options were exactly how I remember and loved it... scones with Devonshire cream, unique takes on tea sandwiches and yummy chocolates. 7. Our waitress was overly sweet and didn't seem to mind answering the 100+ questions that my daughter threw her way. 8. You can just walk out when you are done because your bill and tip was all prepaid. 9. The wait staff wore masks the entire time. Customers wore masks when they weren't seated at tables that were arranged to be very secluded from each other. 10.
