I don't like thin soup on my ramen, so this I really liked. My daughter was gulping down her noodles... just shoving it into her mouth. That is a huge thing for me because she's picky with food. We also had the potato mochi. I also liked that one. It had good texture, crunch, and chew. It was brushed with a glaze. The flavor was good. I'm not a chicken karaage guy. But I'm mentioning it because we ordered it. The chicken karaage were good chunks of chicken. Not like other places who give small chunks. My wife liked it because it had more chicken than batter. Service - The Place had good service. The food came out on time. Servers were checking up on us without hovering or being overbearing. They paid attention when we called asking for help. I was listening to the workers, and they seem to like being there. I mean, "work is work", and no one REALLY LIKES going to work. I'm pretty sure we'd all rather be someplace else besides work. Maybe I caught them in a good mood, but, it genuinely seemed like the moral in the place was good and the people working there that night didn't mind being there. Vibe - Small, family vibe. I liked that there was buzz but it wasn't loud. When we came, most of the people there were older, but as we left later in the evening, a more younger crowd started lining up and coming in. That tells me, they appeal to a wide demographic/pallet, which is good. Overall, it's going on the list of places to go back to and recommend. The broth in the tonkotsu ramen was rich and flavorful. I loved the firm texture of the noodles. They were very generous with the amount of crunchy garlic on the gyoza, which I loved! Definitely a solid spot if you're craving ramen. Service was quick and friendly, and they made sure to clarify that the cold tantanmen was brothless to ensure we were getting what we wanted.

I'd say that the broth is pretty good (light broth is gentle to the stomach), and the noodles were cooked well. You'll probably miss the fatty chunk of charsiu, but they now have pulled beef charsiu instead which is stringy and just as flavorful :) Service was friendly as always and they were very attentive to our needs. Ambiance is a bit more upscale than their previous Ward location, and definitely larger. Will come back again to try their Otoko-Meshi items, overall just glad that they're back!

Unfortunately, the food and menu changes were a big disappointment for me. The old location had a much larger menu with plenty of ramen options, while the new menu is limited to just three choices. The ramen itself doesn't taste the same, and even the noodles seem different. The biggest letdown was the chashu--it used to be served as a whole slice of pork, but now it's more of a shredded meat style that lacks the same appeal and texture. Adding to that, the new location currently doesn't have a liquor license, which takes away part of the dining experience. While the new space is beautiful, I left missing the food and variety that made Kamitoku one of my favorite ramen spots. Hopefully they'll bring back more of what made the original location special.

Every imaginable bird seemed to be there: little birds, big birds, one-legged birds, scruffy birds, sick-looking birds, and fearless "gangster" birds that stared you down and swooped in the moment food hit the table. They hopped onto empty chairs, circled the tables, and constantly tried to steal food, making it impossible to relax and enjoy the meal. I understand that outdoor seating comes with the occasional bird, but this was on another level. The restaurant should consider better bird deterrents because the constant interruptions took away from what was otherwise a very good meal. If you order takeout or sit indoors, you'll probably have a much better experience. The food is worth trying, but unless the bird situation is addressed, I wouldn't choose the outdoor seating again.
