I've been going to Chaya for years, and they are my FAVORITE strawberry matcha boba spot on the island! Located in the center of Kahala mall, it's always hard for me to resist getting a drink when I pass by. Service is always quick and friendly. What makes this drink unique is the fresh strawberry bits inside. The boba is always consistently made, with chewy, fresh consistency. I'll always be a Chaya customer :,)
We walked by and immediately knew we wanted to try one of their drinks! We went with the Matcha Milk (Premium Japanese Matcha from Maedaen) and it was 10/10! Smooth and delicious with the boba. Service was quick! Grab and go, so you can shop.
I've been here several times since it opened a couple of years ago and I stop whenever I go to Kahala mall. I had never heard of their speciality Kuromitsu Kinako milk and wasn't sure what to expect but it's SO GOOD. It's a black sugar syrup (Kuromitsu) and roasted soybean flour (Kinako) It has a nutty sweet flavor and it blends together wonderfully. It's a nice alternative to coffee or matcha. I've also had the li hing drinks here in the past and it's also really good and tangy. My daughter got the strawberry yogurt drink with boba and it had fresh strawberries and a nice tangy taste. She loved it. This booth is located in the central area of Kahala mall. The drinks are always ready fast and the baristas are sweet and explain any questions you have and can make recommendations for you as well. There are several tables throughout the mall, but may be difficult to find one during busy days.
Chaya just celebrated their 5th anniversary this weekend. We've been coming here for years and have never had a negative experience. This shop is located in a small kiosk in Kahala Mall, right by Carousel Candyland and across the stairs going to the creepy bathroom (IYKYK). Service is good, no issues. Drinks come out pretty quickly too. I usually get the strawberry soda with a splash of milk and boba and it is my favorite. So refreshing, not artificial strawberry flavor, actual chunks, and the boba is the right texture and not too syrupy sweet which is important! My other half usually gets one of the teas or the yuzu soda. The plain teas (Jasmine, etc) don't come sweetened so keep that in mind as he didn't realize that until we left the mall haha. Prices are pretty standard and at least it's consistent and ingredients seem to be of better quality than just prepackaged syrups. We'll keep coming back.
Five beverages, all came out very quickly! I had the peach iced tea, and it was a bit sweet for my liking, however, I stole all of someone in my group's strawberry milk Boba with 25% sweetness and drank almost all of it! This is located inside of Kahala Mall just outside of Sephora in a center kiosk. Yum!

I usually get a refreshing drink (one without milk). The first time I came here I got the Yuzu Soda which was really nice. You could really taste the yuzu well and usually at other places it is hard to taste. This time around I got the Li Hing Strawberry Pineapple drink with boba. The boba had a nice chew and was perfectly sweet. The drink was made with real strawberries and I saw the barista add Li Hing powder to the pineapple juice. It was a great drink! Next time I will try their matcha :)
Although Chaya is one of the kiosks at Kahala Mall and not a storefront, I was pleasantly surprised how good the drinks were. I had a taste of every drink and it tasted like quality ingredients. My favorite was the hojicha latte (you can not sub milk) and the kinako latte.

I was unsure of what to get at first and the cashier explained what was in each drink for me to decide. My daughter even loved the drink. The line was long when we got there but it went quickly.
Tapioca was good and well made! Will noted that the milk tea is pre made and comes unsweetened, so specify if you want sugar. Located inside the mall around the Sephora area, a smaller stand with a large menu and photos to help you decide your drink choice. Because of the premade mix, service was quick and easy to receive my drink.
Cute little shop in Kahala mall specializing in local and Japanese fruit teas and matcha. The worker was great at explaining their best seller items and I decided to try their kinako matcha. It was an ice matcha with a dark brown sugar syrup, fairly sweet (I even asked for less sweet). Would come back again to try their other drinks! read more
Needing a little pick me up while shopping at Kahala Mall? This is the place. Drinks are made quickly and fresh. I love the friendly staff and great service. Lots of variety on their drinks. You'll eventually find multiple favorites from their selection. My favorites are the Kinako Milk and the Strawberry Yogurt. read more

I've been here on several occasions n' the Kuromitsu Kinako Milk has a good sweet n' syrupy flavor. Looks like it could be a coffee drink, but it is not in case you were hoping for a kick of caffeine. The Strawberry Matcha has a nice strawberry base with fresh fruit chunks. I just wish the matcha was stronger or there was more of it. I'm not sure if it's bc I order a 24oz instead of a 12oz n' the smaller size would've tasted more matcha-y? Majority of the drink you taste milk. The Strawberry Yogurt n' Strawberry Milk are great for keiki, which I ordered for my kids. Refreshing drink at Kahala Mall, Honolulu, Hawaii... Chaya Hawaii is a kiosk near to SEPHORA. I've passed by so many times without trying it. Now, I know to visit often because they have a Loyalty Rewards system: Five Stars. There's no card to lose... just enter your phone number onto the tablet! I just wanted something plain, so I decided to get a Plantation Tea, half sweet with black tea. The 12 oz. was $5 while the 24 oz. size was $6. Yes, I drank double the amount for $1 more! Service was efficient and pleasant in the air-conditioned mall! Order at one window and pick up at the window on the other side of the kiosk. I'll be back - especially because I discovered small bits of fresh strawberry at the bottom of the cup! Thank you for the little extra special touch! read more
Haha I didn't take a picture of my taiyaki again! Fail! Haha. This time I took my daughter and she got the Matcha Kuromitsu Kinako Milk with boba and it was absolutely delicious. It was a little too sweet for me but the boba was so good. Nice texture and tasted fresh. I got a plantation black tea and it was a little bitter but was ok. My only issue is they have a rewards program but you have to enter your number before they charge you. Why don't they say something beforehand? Like oh please enter your number if you have rewards with us? Was kind of annoying but oh well what can you do I guess. Drinks came out quickly and there are tables around their kiosk so plenty of areas to sit if you want to enjoy right away. read more
Today I ordered the matcha kuromitsu kinako milk. The picture looked so amazing. Staff was very friendly, loved that. Service was quick as well. The drink itself was delicious, I also asked for less sweetness and it was perfectly balanced. Now, for the boba, it was a little bit firm. I like my boba squishy, this was not. I will try them again in hopes for a better boba experience. read more

I ordered the strawberry yogurt drink. I thought the strawberry jam wasn't too sweet and the yogurt had a nice tang to it, so the drink overall wasn't too sweet. This is located at one of the kiosks near the middle of Kahala Mall so it's easy to get to. My only complaint is I wish I could get this in a bigger size. Easy online ordering so you can skip the line too! read more
Strolling through Kahala and the picture of the strawberry milk caught our eye so we pulled the trigger and stopped at Chaya. I ordered the Matcha Strawberry Milk I love matcha and I like strawberry.. it didn't disappoint and look at the presentation in the picture.. layered come on you can't deny that looks dope. The drink wasn't overpowered by the matcha like some drinks can get and the strawberry was legit fruit so you know they're using high quality ingredients and not just flavored syrup. We also got the Kuromitsu Kinako Milk she really enjoyed the subtleness of it and the way it wasn't cloyingly sweet. I tasted it and thought it was good also. I mean it's a small drink stand in the middle of the mall what can you say?? The service was fast and they did have a couple people ahead of us but I mean it was your typical wait time. read more
We found this Boba place in Kahala Mall and of course we had to try it. The worker was friendly and recommended kid-friendly drinks, my kids ended up choosing the strawberry milk with boba and I tried the strawberry matcha on ice with boba. They enjoyed theirs, mine was good but I don't think I'd get it again. There's a place to sit at right near the kiosk but we decided to walk and drink. My kids have tried a bunch of strawberry milks and they said Chaya Hawaii probably had their 5th favorite strawberry milk. read more
We got free boba for Black Friday! I got the black milk tea and it was delicious! Strong black tea, I got it half sweet. I'm glad because it was just enough sweet for me. The boba was perfectly chewy too. My friend got the plantation iced tea and she wanted it to be more sweet but I'm not a sweet drink girl so, to each their own. Otherwise I loved it! Tasty drinks. Located inside Kahala Mall, this local biz serves up a a variety of teas and a very unique drink.. * Kuromitsu Kinako Milk (Rating 4/5) * Matcha Kuromitsu Kinako drink (Rating 5/5). Fast and friendly service. I loved both drinks, but the matcha has a slight edge because I really enjoy the bitterness from the matcha which makes it less sweet. Kuromitsu is a sweet dark Japanese sugar syrup that is similar to molasses and Kinako is a very unique taste, being it is Japanese roasted soybean flour, giving a nutty taste. A great combination with the milk! You can substitute different milk for $1 extra. These drinks full price can be expensive when adding boba too. If you have a sweet tooth, I'd recommend. I'm more of a savory girl, but I love supporting local! Luckily, we were able to get these drinks 50% off since they were celebrating their 2 year anniversary. What a perfect Sunday treat! read more
Kuromitsu Kinako Milk with Boba was delicious and literally bursting with flavor! The boba it's different than most places. Love it! Service was quick and efficient all while being friendly. I've walked past Chaya Hawaii at Kahala Mall so many times, but this was my first time actually stopping by. Met up with a friend specifically to try the strawberry matcha milk, and it didn't disappoint. You could tell they use fresh strawberries, which made it feel like a step up from your usual boba spot. Just a tip: make sure to grab a boba straw, a regular straw won't cut it with the chunks of fruit. Prices are pretty reasonable for the size and quality, and the service was fast and efficient. Just keep in mind there was only one person working, so if it gets busy, you might need a little patience. read more
Such a cute boba shop in Kahala mall! I've been craving good boba and this place hit the spot. It is a small kiosk in the mall but there's a good variety of drinks. We ordered the black milk tea with boba, strawberry soda with boba and strawberry milk with boba. Boba Milk Tea- nice strong milk tea with wonderful aroma. Boba is very chewy here. Strawberry Soda with boba- very refreshing! Theres real strawberries in the drink and doesn't taste too artificial. Strawberry Milk with boba- nice twist to the classical milk teas and great for kids since theres no caffeine. Also contains real strawberries which is always nice. The drinks came out quickly and the server was very helpful. We will be coming back for sure! read more

Was in need of a drink but wanted something different other than Starbucks. Lucky for me I was standing in front of this cute little stand and curious to try what they had to offer. I ultimately wanted to try their Kuromitsu Kinako but chose their Plantation Tea with Jasmine & boba. My husband also tried their Li Hing Strawberry Pineapple tea. It was definitely refreshing and the notes of jasmine were deliciously aromatic, but something was missing that I can't exactly put my finger on. Maybe too much juice and not enough tea? I don't know honestly, but it was good and yes I'll be ordering from them again. read more

Small kiosk inside Kahala Mall at ground floor - you gotta try their drink. Every time I'm at Kahala Mall I never skip grabbing my refreshment here and my favorite? - Strawberry Soda! While enjoying my drink having bits of strawberries, I'm also confident on it as this drink ain't too sweet for me - perfect for a pre diabetic guy like me! Summer solstice is already here and I am thinking to drive up to Kahala Mall and grab my drink! The staffs here are the friendliest, simply love them! Price is a bit steep but it's okay - renting a kiosk in Hawaii is real money! See yah later! read more

This was on my Hawaii Boba list after seeing it on someone's IG page. Nicely located in Kahala Mall. Strawberry Match Milk ($6) - Layered drink so it's very pretty. Matcha and strawberry is a great combination however I tasted mainly milk. This place uses quality ingredients so I'll probably come back and try a different drink. read more
They had me at Kuromitsu Kinako! Chaya Hawaii is a kiosk in Kahala Mall is refreshingly welcoming since there's very little tea places in the area. Offering the usual milk teas and matcha (using premium Japanese match from Maedaen) it's fun to see some unusual twists to local favorites as well like Plantation tea, Li Hing varieties, Strawberry Matcha milk and the newest currently is Kuromitsu Kinako and Kuromitsu Kinako Matcha Milk. Toppings are simpler with Boba, Strawberry Sauce and Li Hing powder, with milk option alternative Oat and Soy is available. I ordered the Kuromitsu Kinako Matcha Milk but with misunderstanding she made the regular (sad face). Very simple and not sweet at all the kinako was a delightful nostalgic sip ahhh I can't wait to try it with Matcha! Thank you! read more
I'm glad to see boba is back in Kahala Mall! Their menu is smaller than other boba places, but it's a kiosk, so the limited options is understandable, and if you ask me, a smaller menu makes it a little easier to decide on what to order (decision fatigue is a real thing!). On my first visit, I tried the milk tea, 50% sweet with boba, and loved it. The milk tea was not super sweet or creamy (probably because I cut the sweetness in half), and the bobas were nice n chewy. I will be back to try their other drinks. p.s. they also have taiyaki! read more
