I love Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop! I've been here a couple of times and need to leave my review so I'll remember what I ate (so I can try new things next visit!) This time I had the breakfast bowl with fried rice and scrambled eggs. The bacon was nice and crispy and it was served with toast made of a swirl bread along with a small dish with jelly and butter. My friend had the avocado toast which was a huge serving. Last time I was here I had toast and bacon and eggs and my friend had a salad. This time I also bought a box of pastries to take home to share. The pastries sell out quickly but this trip, there was lots to choose from. I bought chocolate pumpkin bread, a savory scone, coconut bread pudding, a pumpkin muffin with cream cheese in the center, and molasses cookies. All were delicious! It's always crowded so be prepared to wait in line. Also, parking is tight and sometimes you have to wait for someone to leave before you can park. I love the old plantation style building with the airy rooms and surrounding gardens. I always feel like I'm on the outer islands when I eat here or transported back in time.

Long line (for ordering) already @ 9am!

They open @ 8am and when I arrived @ 9am, there was already a long line for ordering. I was glad that they still had breakfast bowl available when it came to my turn. ;) While all the tables might be taken, you should be able to find if you wait for a few minutes. I love their ambiance - being surrounded by trees and very peaceful. All the staff are very friendly and polite.

Super cute bakery and restaurant. We enjoyed our breakfast here. Great service & yummy eats. Would definitely return

I have been on an açaí bowl kick lately and I think Waioli kitchen has one of the best. You have to go check them out! They serve breakfast and lunch here. My other fav menu item is the pancakes topped with banana and served with a coconut syrup. I also love the Mediterranean salad with chicken, simple but delicious! I love coming here, not only for the food, but also the vibe. It is surrounded by so much greenery. It is in the center of Mānoa. It's very majestic and calming. I love coming here!

Friendly Service We tried the Mango & Sunset Lemonade. The Sunset was my favorite drink. The jelly already with the butter was amazing spread over the Sourdough bread. I also had Avocado on toast that was brought as side options and I put them together and pours the jelly on top. The combination together is a must tried and is very tasty. Breakfast bowl gave a good amount of fried rice and plenty egg I noticed but only thing I could say is they could give at least 2 bacons because only one is given. Curry Chicken Salad in a Papaya with a side of toast and jelly was definitely a fave. I recommend to others to try it definitely brings a great savory, not sweet flavor combing together when eaten with the papaya. The Blueberry Scone was delicious next time I will pair with a coffee.

Waioli Tea Room probably has one the most beautiful settings on the island. Tucked away in the back of Manoa the vibe here is so peaceful. Lots of trees, flowers, and birds. It also rains a lot back here and makes it even more peaceful. I always leave here feeling relaxed and choose it as a meeting spot for friends and visitors. The food menu is limited and that's ok, they focus on simplicity and making the food fresh and good. Their bakery items are so fresh and delicious. It's my favorite place for scones on the island. The ube scone is 10/10 and is the shining bakery item in my opinion. I've tried most menu items here over the years and brought many guests here and everyone is always happy with their food. I usually just get the simple breakfast sandwich croissant and it's consistently good. The workers are always so sweet and if you learn about the history and mission of this place you'll appreciate it even more. It focuses on community empowerment and giving second chances to people by providing them with employment and a place to stay (at least historically I can't confirm if this is still ongoing). Parking can be challenging on busy days but I've always found something if I circle and wait for someone to leave. Be prepared for rain but it makes the ambiance that more peaceful.

Beautiful, charming, arbored setting, this historical tea room serves great breakfast, lunch and pastries with friendly, knowledgeable service. Tables were full on a Friday morning but you still get a relaxed feeling being out in nature. The avocado toast was a nicely balanced combination of two sunny side eggs atop avo and arugula on a thin slice of sourdough. It was perfect for my friend and me to share.'The açaí bowl, served in a cute little coconut bowl, was served with strawberries, blueberries , coconut, and granola which made for good crunch. My friend raved about the pastries and she was not wrong! I agreed the scones are amazing with a nice (not dry) consistency inside and a perfectly slightly browned and crisped top! Her fave is the candied ginger and lemon which was indeed delish! Ube white chocolate was also good. The server recommended the Haupia bread which stood out as a rich scrumptious mixture of coconut goodness like a bread pudding. Muah!

Breakfast bowl (fried rice, egg, bacon, toast) while supplies last. Short rib loco moco. Blueberry scone. Iced coffee. Chai latte.

Would come back only for the scones! Blueberry scone was delicious, soft and light on the inside. The food menu items were underwhelming. Tried the breakfast bowl; fried rice, scrambled egg, bacon, toast with jam. It was a thin bed of fried rice with bacon bits, a big clump of scrambled eggs, one piece of bacon, toast of the day was good. The short rib loco moco was plain. It was really busy on a Saturday for breakfast, a line to order, a wait for a table, a wait to get the table cleared. Upsides were bakery items, free parking, and being in a historic tea room in Manoa.

    Short Rib Loco Moco
    Adam F.

Wholesome and genuine experience overall. I would highly recommend. Came here for a Saturday breakfast and it did not disappoint. I got the Ube Lemonade, Mango Lilikoi Scone, and the Short Rib Loco Moco. The Ube Lemonade was very good, it had a strong flavor at first but grew on me as I finished the drink. The Mango Lilikoi Scone was good, but I expected more of a sweet fruity flavor to it. The Short Rib Loco Moco was the highlight by far. The short rib meat was so tender and perfect with the gravy. I appreciated the side of pickled veggies, it added a great complimentary texture to that of the loco moco. The service was excellent as well. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. We got a table in the main entry area and had a lovely view of their front yard/garden area.

Great brunch location. I think they are open until 1. I hear as long as you get there before they close, you can sit for awhile and walk around. The food is really yummy and they make bread and scones that are super good. The location is in Manoa owns the setting is beautiful. First you find parking, which can be hard, since it's so popular but once you find parking enjoy!! Then walk in, order your food && they bring it out to you. There's brunch choices that are so tasty! Choosing a place to sit can be tough too since there are so many different places to sit - inside, outside, on tables, etc. Every single part is amazing so far ... riiiiight??! But the BEST part is their mission! (Since I'm a social worker I absolutely love their mission) Their workers are coming out of programs. I love their history, their mission, and by eating great food && sitting in a totally peaceful place we support people and a great mission!!! The workers are attentive and friendly and the manager walks around.

This place is popular and yummy. The line can get long but don't worry it goes by pretty fast. The bakery items are delicious and a great treat to take home. The avocado toast is good, the first time I went I think I got more goat cheese on it but both times the eggs were perfect. The sourdough bread is freshly baked. The breakfast bowl looked yummy, my husband ate every gain of rice. Love all the history in this place and what they stand for! Helping people get back on their feet after hard times!

It's a nice relaxing place to have breakfast. Very friendly service. The egg and cheese croissant and the egg breakfast plate were not bad. The mini mochi waffles were not crunchy but was rather hard. We probably will try something else next time.

Very busy on a Saturday morning at 9am, parking is still difficult to find but managed to snag a sweet spot! Line is absurdly long, takes at least a good 30 minutes whether it's for takeout or dine in (have to order in the line for your food and take a number). Ordered the Short Rib Loco Moco & special breakfast item, the Avocado Toast. Also ordered a mango peach iced lemonade for my friend. To go items were their sourdough bread (baked fresh! Impeccable timing) and 2 scones for myself - savory & blueberry. I completely forgot to sub the loco moco rice for fried rice. Please don't make that mistake. I thought it was okay, not as good as what I remembered from years past. I think they skimped on the meat a little and portion size was not as good as I had before. The avocado toast was much better. Thinly sliced but large sourdough bread smeared with avocado, a little goat cheese, generous helping of arugula, sauce (looks like thousand island dressing but could be some other fancy aioli), and 2 sunny side up eggs. Great portions and flavor. Light enough to not feel bloated or guilty afterwards. The scones were not how like I remembered. A bit too dry and bready? Crumbled way too easily. The savory one was nice. Would possibly get it again. Things to note: snag a table early if you're dining in; 3% service charge to pay for vocational training for former substance abuse individuals (liked the transparency because it's a cause I can get behind); roam the estate a little (they've blocked off alot of the pathways in the garden & adjoining rainforest which is sad.

    Do they have Reservations?

No reservations taken. First come, first served. It's very busy all the time so come early as the line can get 20-30 people deep waiting to place their orders!

Do they still make freshly baked sourdough bread?

You bet we do. It’s available Wednesday thru Saturday And don’t forget about Challah bread on Friday!!

Are the mochi waffles and mochi pancakes on the daily menu or specials?

They're listed as specials, but the specials haven't changed in at least 3 years so I consider them part of the daily menu

Dying to try their gluten-free pastries what do they have besides a delicious gluten-free blueberry muffin which I will definitely get?

What gluten free options are offered?

Eggs and bacon, salads, chicken salad in a half papaya, and gluten free baked goods until they sell out. I enjoyed a great GF blueberry muffin there.

Is breakfast served until they close?

    Yes. Lunch begins at 11.

Are dogs allowed if well behaved?

No, only registered service animals due to the agreements of their lease!

Do they still serve afternoon tea?

Not a formal afternoon tea - but they so offer hot tea (and hot coffee, including French press) and amazing house-baked pastries!

Any chance of breakfast burritos being added to the menu? Just curious :) Thanks for making Waioli…

    No burritos...

Is there wheelchair accessibility and a handicap parking stall?

I believe so, Yes. The parking area is very well situated relative to the business and the floor plan is quite conducive to handicapped mobility.

    Do they take reservations?

As of 7/2022, they do not take reservations, just walk-ins.

What is the number for the WKAB?

    YELP IT ITS THERE

    What are their hours?

Hours are Tuesday - Sunday, 7:30 - 2:30. Closed Mondays.

I can't tell whether this place is open for business yet. Does anyone know?

Yes, Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop IS open for business. They're doing a "soft opening" at the moment though. Call (808) 744-1619 to ask for hours. Food was good!

I believe they use Wai Koko as the base & coconut cream for the top. The drink was good, but it was small and I felt like there wasn't enough matcha in it for how much I paid (over $8). They also don't have Wi-Fi (which I believe may be by design) so if you're planning on doing work, be prepared to use your hotspot if you have one. Overall, this is a beautiful space to have that "coffee shop" experience with friends to talk story or if you're looking for a quieter shop to relax and rewind.

I was dining with my husband, I got waved at by the staff in an aggressive and catty way and I have no idea why, got a glass cup without a handle for soda, for my hot matcha, which burns your hands and not safe and dismissive attitude. In two years, we have no idea what popped off today and why? Why not be pleasant and accommodating to the customer? Why raise your voice at customers? We don't work there. That was unwelcoming and unsafe. Food is a sacred act and consuming in a friendly and welcoming environment matters. A lady with a short hair and star on her face, like a sticker covering a pimple, was raising her voice at me for unknown reasons. As a person that has served in the food industry, mean-spirted energy while people are eating their first meal of the day is unnecessary. I was asked if I wanted my bread warmed and I said yes and then I was given the bread cold. I have no clue why. Then the hot drink without a cup with no handle, that was odd and it was burning my hand. The staff wanting to put a sleeve on it and I walked away from it to protect myself and be safe. There's people who go there have a positive and good energy moment with their families and significant others. A food establishment and its staff, should foster an environment where the guests feel welcomed, safe and at ease. Aggressive staff raising their voices at me, giving me an unsafe cup to drink out of and being dismissive is not the experience my husband and I are looking for when we first wake up. It felt very unnecessary and extra. We are glad to take our business somewhere else, where the staff is pleasant, safe, happy to serve, be kind and gentle. We really gave this place an opportunity considering we don't eat meat. A peaceful environment is so important and a calm and at ease demeanor from the staff is something that can be projected from within, instead of unkindness and hostility to customer. Projecting unkind energy while sharing food to locals is negative and unnecessary while having a dedicated sign you will let guests know if they're rude you will ask them to leave. This time, it's us leaving. We want a positive and healthy experience while eating. We do not recommend this place. The entire restaurant is ran by women, why not be kind to another woman, in a male -dominated world? It makes no sense. This is what happens when food gets weaponized. There should be no bias or politics in food. It was a dehumanizing experience.

It's a bit hard to find though. Located on the top floor of a complex with other food options. You take the elevator up. I'd recommend parking in the Walmart structure across the street because otherwise parking is also hard to find. I got a seasonal drink (white sesame kinako latte with a shot of matcha) and at $11 it was maybe the priciest cup of caffeine I've ever had haha. But it was interesting and tasty and got me refreshed, so worth savoring as a special treat. My husband got a maple cocoa cold foam coffee and it was also delicious! We also got a couple of baked items, which took a while (barista did thank us for waiting) to come out but the tuna melt toast especially hit the spot. The dashi tamago sando was just alright. They also have dessert treats which looked delicious.

You can definitely taste the fruity pebbles yet it wasn't overly sweet, which was good. Wish the matcha shined through a bit more, but still a fun n' tasty latte. The lychee dragon tea was so refreshing n' full on tropical flavor. Enjoyed every sip n' the glitter also made it fun. The Viet ice coffee was really good, bold with hints of sweetness. This is a great place to do work and meet friends, and also maybe get out of the rain while you wait for your bus. The drink options are unique, which is what I like to see for these fancy cafes that call themselves "coffeehouses". The team working here are young, probably UH students, which is to be expected. If you know me, I love sweets. Coffee is no exception. The Haupia latte is perfectly sweet, as it balances the bitterness of the coffee. The same could be said for the Hawaiian honey latte. I have a suspicion that I will be drinking all the sweet drinks from here. Let it only be for when I need energy and increased focus on an assignment. (Pray for me.)

(It's on the corner of University Avenue and Metcalf Street.) Since metered street parking is free on a Sunday, I parked across the street (on Metcalf) where there's a row of stalls... easy! The friendly staff were pleasant and helpful! They answered all of my questions and made great suggestions! I ordered an Avocado Toast without spicy sauce... and a Kukui Latte with soy milk. I liked both! The toast had some garlic and butter flavoring on the multi-grain toast. It was simple, healthy, and filling! The Kukui Latte was sweetened just right! The macadamia and coconut flavors were tasty! This is a wonderful study/meeting/work spot that Irene discovered! It's spacious, clean, and bright! The restroom is modern, safe and comfortable! We'll be back!

The cafe is small and is located across Daily Whisk Matcha. You can just park in the lot but I had found street parking that day. I was surprised to see the owner, Dr. Jodi, at the front taking orders. She was friendly and personable. I like following her page for keto meal ideas even though I'm not keto, I like to incorporate lower carb meals. I decided to do a to-go order of the Coconut Wireless espresso drink and the breakfast waffle sandwich. I was worried that I wouldn't like the drink because I am iffy about coconut milk but it was actually really good. I got it sweetened with a little honey and it was delicious. The breakfast waffle sandwich was a generous portion of eggs, bacon, cheese between 2 keto waffles. Basically like a keto version of a McGriddle. The waffles didn't taste keto and tasted like regular waffles. Honestly, so good! I could get used to eating like this lol. I'm looking forward to trying her other items on the menu!

There are also tables and chairs to sit downstairs. After looking at the menu, we decided to get the chicken and chaffles and kamalu bowl. Everything seemed healthy with limits on the carbs and a lack of sugar. We made our order and sat upstairs, which had a couple seating options. The spaces upstairs and downstairs felt clean and simple. There were some decorations but not an overwhelming amount. All of the food we ordered felt filling. The bowls included a variety of foods such as avocados, eggs, and more. The chicken and chaffles were good! The chicken was not oily and did not taste super fried. The chaffles had more of a grainy texture than usual waffles but were still tasty. The chicken and chaffles were about $18, which we felt was a bit pricey. However, we were full by the end of lunch. We are looking forward to going back and trying some new items, such as the loco moco.

Refreshing beverage in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I saw an Instagram post about $3 matcha drinks on Monday, July 7, 2025... I thought that I should give it a try... Parking in the shared lot at Manoa Marketplace is free! I walked into the shop which is to the right of Safeway... I hadn't noticed it before, but it's quite spacious inside! There were several people at the tables. They were working on their laptops or chatting with others. The cashier was knowledgeable. When I asked for a non-dairy matcha latte, she asked if I wanted it iced - yes please! She said that the matcha powder has some dairy in it... oh... I'll take a chance... LOL! I was really happy that my drink was just $3.14, but wished it had a little less crushed ice. Seems like there was less liquid in the cup? Note: Thanks for the stamps on my Loyalty Card!

This review is for the matcha since it was my first time trying it. It was afternoon and I was next door at Safeway and had heard really good things about the matcha at coffee bean. I'm kind of picky about matcha and was a bit skeptical about how good the quality would be since it's more of a coffee place. But I was so surprised about how good it was! I saw a TikTok recommended the iced matcha latte with oat milk and ube cold foam. 10/10. No grittiness, no bitterness, smooth and great combo with the ube. Definitely on the sweet side, for those that want a more bitter or unsweetened matcha this one is not for you, although the ube definitely gave it a lot of the sweetness. Coffee bean is a staple in Manoa marketplace and I rarely try new things but I'm glad I tried this today. Ambiance: lots of tables, single bathroom for customers only. Outdoor tables as well. Tons of parking. Service: The Cashier was super friendly, she was helping train a new barista and she obviously did a great job.
