I'm not Keto but I've been meaning to try this keto cafe for a while. I had a dentist appointment which is in the area so I decided to go to Rise Cafe after. The cafe is small and is located across Daily Whisk Matcha. You can just park in the lot but I had found street parking that day. I was surprised to see the owner, Dr. Jodi, at the front taking orders. She was friendly and personable. I like following her page for keto meal ideas even though I'm not keto, I like to incorporate lower carb meals. I decided to do a to-go order of the Coconut Wireless espresso drink and the breakfast waffle sandwich. I was worried that I wouldn't like the drink because I am iffy about coconut milk but it was actually really good. I got it sweetened with a little honey and it was delicious. The breakfast waffle sandwich was a generous portion of eggs, bacon, cheese between 2 keto waffles. Basically like a keto version of a McGriddle. Rise Cafe located in the Kaimukī, along 11th Ave., right next to Carte Blanche and Subway. There's a couple of dedicated parking spots out front, or in the paid parking lot. This place serves up breakfast items and coffee/tea drinks and follows a Ketogenic diet with its ingredients. Inside is small and cozy with two levels of sitting areas. You just order at the front and they'll bring everything to your table. The Bulletproof Coffee was okay. I would have preferred the butter to be blended in with the coffee and cream instead of on the top. The Americano was good. Solid flavor. Steak and Eggs. Simple. The chimichurri sauce was delicious! Tasty and bright. The steak was a bit overcooked to my medium requested with about half tender, half toothsome. The steak might've sat under cool air because it was not warm when it arrived, and the pieces were mostly room temperature with some chilled cold. Not sure if that is the intention. The eggs, also requested medium, were over easy. The Chicken and Chaffles were very good, especially the chicken! Give me a basket of that! The chicken was so moist, juicy, tender, and flavorful. Nicely battered and fried. The chaffles were more like regular (healthy) waffles than cheesy or eggy. Overall, an all right experience. Enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Comfortable and cozy. Food and drinks were fine. Maybe some adjustments for my preference. Chicken was amazing though! Service was okay. Can't say it was the most friendly or upbeat. Some coffee spillage on floor and table when arrived, but only wiped the floor.. Not a big deal since we have napkins. Maybe I'll come back to try other things. I was excited to see a new cafe open up in the neighborhood. It looks very appealing from the outside and seeing the phrase, "food = medicine" in the front window made me even more curious. I was thinking just how good healthy, nutritious food could be. Well, it was excellent! I started off with a hot mocha, which had a light, sweet flavor with a hint of mocha; very nice. It was not as sweet and syrupy as other cafes. Then I had the loco moco, good choice. The wagyu patty was very tasty topped off with an egg and keto gravy. All blended together nicely and very flavorful. Unlike most times I have a loco moco, this one leaves you feeling good and not stuffed. Seeing the healthy make up of this loco moco, I was extremely surprised and happy with how good it was! My son had the chicken and chaffles, which I had to try after tasting my loco moco. It was also very good and something I would have the next time. Overall, a superb breakfast and lunch spot that I would highly recommend. Work lunch Wednesday was ordered from Rise Cafe. I got the kamalu bowl which was interesting. The cauliflower rice had great flavor and I surprised myself by eating it all. The pickled onions brightened up the dish. My least favorite was the bacon because it wasn't crunchy and tough to chew. Give me a vegetarian option and I'd gladly order it. We didn't have to park but there is the kanji municipal lot on the backside that accepts credit cards. There is also metered stalls along waialae ave. The shop is small but I guess there are stairs to an upstairs with more seating but we didn't go up there. Interior is cute and comfy. read more

My boyfriend wanted to try this place since we were in the area. To be completely honest I was not a huge fan. However, I love the premise of Rise Cafe. The only thing that wowed us was the americano! That was honestly delicious, but the food killed it for us. We thought the portion was small for the crustless quiche (considering price) and the chicken and waffles tasted mediocre. The pancakes tasted a little too doughy and dry, but the chicken was good. It tastes kind of similar to Karage. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. But if you do happen to go I would recommended their drinks! read more

Quaint little cafe located in Kaimuki. How fitting is it that this health-conscious cafe is right by the park with tennis and basketball ball courts!? They look small from the street level, but they've got a good amount of upstairs seating (albeit cozy) and private restrooms. Their menu, while not extensive, has some nice options. I got the salad flight and a side of bread, while my friend got the back and eggs and a side of waffle. For drinks, I got the hojicha (?) latte and she got a latte. The service was friendly and I think the owner was present. She was quite nice. Offered some health advice, but not pushy at all about it. Friendly service and love the idea it low carb. The owner is a metabolic practitioner and has her office upstairs. She created the restaurant because many of her patients didn't have dining options. People with diabetes, prenatal and post natal care, hormonal and metabolic issues. If a practitioner is willing to open up a restaurant for their patients, you know you'd want them as part of your wellness program. I had the crustless quiche which was delicious and the matcha drink which the name has slipped my mind. I love their display of the amount of sugar is converted in some of the meals we eat. A cute little spot in Kaimuki! I decided to meet a friend for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. I don't eat keto as often as before but it was a nice change of pace from my usual fare. The seating is a little limited but small spaces like these give me such a homey vibe! They were a little slammed with orders but overall I feel like the wait for food and drinks were very minimal. I ordered a hojicha latte and a brisket bowl with extra barbecue sauce. The hojicha latte was pretty comparable to other cafes but the brisket bowl was the star of the show! It was crazy how tender and flavorful it was, I could barely pick it up with my fork! The barbecue sauce is a little tangier than what you'd expect but I think it's a nice complement to the fattiness of the brisket. Newest cafe on the block! I'm all about health and as someone who dances and works out a lot, I see myself coming here a lot! Still need to try the food, but I really enjoyed one of their signature drinks - Roasted Mac Nut Latte. It had bits of Mac nut in it, and it definitely kept me awake in the morning. Interior was very clean and inviting. They offer free WiFi, and even upstairs seating, but I prefer the ground floor seating :). Overall a very inviting ambiance. Breakfast in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend, Irene, was so excited when she told me about Rise Cafe. She went on Sunday and warned me that it's closed on Tuesdays. I asked her: "Are you telling me to go tomorrow because it's Monday?" She shrugged and said (with a grin), "You're going to like it!" Big hint!!! Of course, I trust Irene. She knows me and understands that I'm trying to avoid eating sugar... because I don't want to take diabetic medication. Rise Cafe is owned by Dr. Jodi, who specializes in Metabolic Health. She's very knowledgeable about nutrition and has an amazing display that shows the amount of sugar in certain foods. Dr. Jodi was very personable and chatted with customers before she went upstairs to meet with patients. Hannah was the cheerful, efficient cashier and server. She was friendly and was able to answer all questions competently! I decided to order the Coconut Wireless (iced espresso with coconut milk and coconut flakes), Tiny Toast (homemade sourdough, toasted with butter), and Salad Flight (curried chicken salad, pink pickled onions, high protein egg salad, and cucumber poke). Everything was beautiful, healthy, and tasty! The environment is calm, cute, and welcoming! There's more seating upstairs if there's no space at the counters or tables downstairs. Love this cute little cafe with only two and a half weeks into their opening that brings more than comfort to your vibe with fresh and yummy brunch items right on 11th Ave with healthier option and wished I had this when I was on a Keto type of diet there wasn't anything like this that's so yummy and delicious. You can find them right on 11th Ave and municipal parking in the back if the metered ones are illusive though remember Sundays are free ;) though there are parking in the front but just a couple of stalls it's worth the effort to bring a healthy start to your day. I already knew it was the Iced Coconut Matcha for me a light and creamy option that wasn't too strong with the Matcha but is very light and refreshing which then the Steak and Eggs was the one as they top it with as the steak is cooked in butter sliced at topped with chimichurri sauce which is so amazing!!! The whole vibe of this place is very calming a welcoming as I love this seating right along the window it was the perfect place to get some work done as well. Rise cafe is like nothing else on our island! This cute cafe is located in Kaimuki and is all about health! Literally! The owner, Dr Jodi Nishida is the best keto doctor! This cafe is everything she stands for, and I am here for it! I had the Mac Nut latte and it was AMAZING! I usually have coffee with a lot of cream and sugar, but this coffee was clean and healthy and the difference I felt from it is amazing! For food, we had steak and eggs and chicken and chaffles. The steak was perfectly cooked and so soft, while the eggs were cooked to perfection and seasoned so well! The chicken and chaffles though...WOW! I've never had chicken like that and the chaffles...I didn't even know what a chaffle was till today, and it was AHHH.MAZING! The ambiance was so peaceful and calming, the food was so good and didn't leave you feeling sick from being overfull because everything you eat there is CLEAN! This is the best brunch I've had in a long time! Everything was simple but flavorful. Very different than your typical brunch menu (ie: pancakes, french toast etc.) I've followed this cafe on Instagram for a while. This cafe is known for providing low carb bites + they do NOT use any inflammatory seed oils + are gluten free! (If you're celiac/know anyone who is celiac, please share! I know some people who suffer from celiac and it is hard to find places to eat that are gluten free) I parked near Good Will (street parking), but you could park in the paid lot if you don't want to walk as far. I ordered downstairs. The girl who took my order was very polite. She articulated well. My food and drink took about 15 minutes to come out. Timely in my opinion since this is REAL food, not fast food. There is upstairs and downstairs seating. It is a very calming and cozy cafe. Not loud like a typical coffee shop/Starbucks. I ordered a Steak and Eggs, and a Pistachio Matcha Latte. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. Note: their Pistachio Matcha Latte had actual pistachios in it! We originally wanted to try Moke's that's a few stores down, but they happen to be closed and since we had already parked we decided to stay in the plaza and choose something else so we decided on Rise Cafe. I had the rice brisket and it was actually good. I added two scrambled eggs. I usually like some hot sauce/spice (my Mexican self) in my food and they only had one Tabasco bottle. My boyfriend had the breakfast sandwich, and he said his was good too! The gentleman who helped us at the counter was very nice. I popped in here a few days ago and ordered the Mac nut latte as well as the crustless quiche to go. The service staff was friendly and helpful and my order was provided quickly. I ended up deciding to eat the quiche in person while it was still hot and it was absolutely excellent probably the best quiche I've had actually.!!! Finally got to check this place out while visiting, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! I've heard so many great things about Rise, and it definitely has that homey, cozy vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and since I'm not very familiar with keto, they took the time to explain the benefits of the diet in a way that was easy to understand. I left not only with a happy tummy, but also with some new knowledge! I ordered the steak & eggs (but subbed the eggs for avocado) along with the coconut matcha latte. As a big matcha lover, I have to say their matcha was spot on--the flavor was bold but smooth, and the coconut cream complimented it very well. The steak was cooked perfectly and paired beautifully with the chimichurri. The overall experience made me wish we had something like this on the mainland. The combination of great food, warm atmosphere, and staff who genuinely care about both the food and the customer's experience was everything. I dabble in going keto on some days, so when my husband found this spot on Yelp to have brunch at, I was down. We parked in the lot with the meters. We didn't see the back entrance from the parking lot. We ended up walking to the street side and entered through the front. The menu is small which is fine by us so we wouldn't have to mull over it too long. The girl at the counter was very informative and friendly. My husband ordered the steak and eggs with chimichurri sauce and I got the Kamalu Bowl with boiled eggs and bacon over cheesy risotto style cauliflower rice. For drinks I got the roasted macadamia nut latte and my husband got the drip coffee. There's tables downstairs and upstairs. We chose to go upstairs. Our food and drinks were brought upstairs when it was ready. Everything tasted great. We literally mopped our plates with no problem. The cheesy risotto style cauliflower rice is something I would want to make at home next time. Coincidentally, Champ Kaneshiro from The Champ Show Hawaii on YouTube came upstairs to film a segment with the owner around the time we were about to leave. I ordered the kamalu bowl and the raspberry matcha. I was hearing good things about this place but unfortunately it was a little underwhelming. The food was ok, nothing special but I probably wouldn't pay $15.99 for it again. The matcha did not have any matcha flavor at all. I got my drink with coconut milk and that is all I could taste. The raspberry jam was very sour and the drink as a whole was not sweet enough for my liking. The atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately I will not be coming again. read more

The chicken oh so tasty, juicy and tender with a delicious coating which will make you hunt down every coating crumb on the plate. I have to come back for the Brisket & Fried 'Rice' in the future. Lots of parking in the lot, cost me $1.50 on a Saturday staying over an hour. If you want free parking there are a few spaces fronting the cafe on 11th Avenue or my favorite is getting a parallel parking space on 10th Avenue next to the park, but don't tell anyone...it's just our secret. Metered street parking is free on Sundays. There are lots of tables and outlets for laptops so get some good food to power your day without the sugar crash of other places with their carby meals. Came in after a strength training session around 9:20 on a Monday morning. Ambiance was chill, got table and "bar" type seating and more seating upstairs. Drink and food menu not big but gives a variety of items I think anyone would try. I got the iced coconut matcha and chicken and chaffles for takeout. I couldn't decide between that or the quiche or even the steak and eggs. The owner said if I'm looking for protein the chicken and chaffles is better than the quiche since there's protein in both chicken and chaffles. I may have to come back to try other items since it's in my neighborhood. Food and drink came out in a timely manner. Matcha latte with the coconut foam was smooth, can taste the matcha but not bitter. Chicken and chaffles-nice fry on the chicken, it was juicy and a little salty. Chaffles had a slight crisp around the edges I think from the cheese that's mixed in the batter, goes well with their keto syrup. Maybe could have more of the keto syrup on the waffles and maybe as an option to go on the chicken as well. Super cute new cafe with healthy food and drinks as "prescribed" by the doctorate pharmacist owner. Used to be the old AV (next to Carte Blanche Subway Shokudo) but now much warmer and lovely place to get food and coffee. It's keto because the owner specializes her practice in food as medicine. The service is friendly - literally family and friends working there. They have WiFi so you can linger if need be especially in the quiet area upstairs. Honestly... BOMB.COM! I came in on a rainy day to kill some time and escape the hurried traffic and sat for a solo lunch. It was a little busy (a good sign), but plenty of seating, quick ordering and great menu. Not only was everything brought out very quickly with a smile from each staff member, but flavor-wise, it hit all the taste buds perfectly. Cappuccino and a Steak and Eggs plate - divine. The eggs and steak were perfectly cooked, buttery, layered with a really delicious chimichurri. Portions were generous and seasoned well. One thing that really caught my eye was at the register, there is a small jars filed with sugar. Ever wonder how much refined sugar is that bagel you had for breakfast? Well you would be shocked when you see it visually. Amazing menu that is being developed for the grand opening on June 16. For now during the soft opening I observed so many favorites meals that will inspire me to thinking healthy. I tried the Roasted Macadamia Nut Latte which honestly didn't upset my stomach since I'm lactose intolerant. Full of flavor that I wouldn't have known it was healthier. When walking in it was very inviting atmosphere so chill and greeted like you belong. For me I like to eat meat and the hamburger steak was amazing with cauliflower rice and topped off with eggs so ono. Oh ! Don't forget about the latte to wash all that goodness down . I had hoped for a nice experience this afternoon at the Rise Cafe but the server, Lauren, spoiled this experience for me with her long stares, lack of friendliness and customer service (when asking for a napkin for me and my guest, asking for ice for my self-serve cup of water... then asking for a second scoop of ice for my approximately 4 oz cup of water)... Heaven forbid I would ask Lauren for more honey to sweeten my Latte). Lauren was the worst part of my customer experience at Rise Cafe. To add insult to injury, I had to wait for over 15 minutes at the register before Lauren would acknowledge my presence to pay my tab and magnesium purchase. At 3:05 pm I was the only person Lauren told the Cafe had closed after standing/waiting at the register since before 3:00 pm. I stayed because I found your cafe to be lovely, quaint and peaceful... (a place where my Daughter and I could work and enjoy a healthy meal) - minus my personal experience with Lauren. To be clear, Lauren's several stares at me (3 or 4 times) were very evident - to me; she approach the register 3 or four times and never acknowledged me as a customer standing and waiting to pay - so you are right, I tried to occupy time while waiting to be acknowledged. She never acknowledged me until after 3:00 pm. Nor did Lauren ever customer service the table (where I sat with my Daughter) - even though I started a tab with Lauren. I appreciate you acknowledging my Daughter. I agree, my Daughter is very nice, kind and very respectful. My Daughter was very aware the Cafe closed at 3:00 pm; she informed me of the closing time prior to arriving to the Cafe which was the reason I approached the register several times (and stood waiting several times) to pay my bill PRIOR to 3:00 pm. I went to the rest room, returned, and continued to wait (to be acknowledged by Lauren) while two customers sat at their table indulging in their beverages and two other customers approached the counter / then register behind me (a total of 6 customers in the Cafe) with me being the only customer notified of your closing time). I spoke with you, politely, Jodi, only to make you aware of my experience - as the owner (because I felt it was necessary the appropriate thing to do). I am a professional woman with an MBA degree who embraces everyone. Customer service is important to me; customer experience is important to me. I have an appreciation for customer service. I love, respect, and appreciate all my customers regardless of who they are. I treat everyone with dignity and kindness, because customer experience is importance to me. I don't live in the area, but heard about this restaurant because I prefer to have keto - friendly dishes. I tried the loco moco and it was delicious! I really wanted to try a keto coffee, but they only have a decaf drip and I'm a decaffer who loves flavored lattes! That won't stop me from coming back again. read more

First of all I want to say that I absolutely love that this cafe is offering clean, healthy food without the use of seed oils or other harmful additives and the emphasis they put on serving coffee without pesticides, etc. We definitely need more of this, thank you! I came in to eat and I would like to share some feedback about my experience in hopes it could be helpful, because again - absolutely love the concept and will definitely be coming here again. I ordered the steak and eggs and requested the steak be cooked medium rare, but unfortunately it came out closer to medium well. I was too hungry to bring it up to the staff at the time, though maybe I should've. The chimichurri was delicious though, and I loved the flavor and depth it also added to the eggs. I also ordered the Macadamia latte, and it was delicious with the sprinkled mac on top. But it was lukewarm when I got it, would be nice to have a piping hot drink :) And as for the ambiance, it was clean and comfortable. It was just the music - it could be a nice touch to add something like a cool "cafe vibes" playlist with an eclectic mix or even a variety of oldies or whatever suits the staff's taste. There was a repetitive jazz track playing (and I love jazz, don't get me wrong) that seemed to be the same song on loop for the hours I was there, and there were multiple times it seemed to be skipping as though it were a scratched CD, and that was pretty grating on the ears. At one point I had to throw my headphones on. So just a few things of note, but it has great potential and overall it was a lovely experience. Recommended by friends so I wanted to check it out for myself. This cafe had a great, inviting atmosphere. Busy during brunch but I managed to to find seating in the main area. There is additional seating upstairs. The coffee & tea menu was extensive with a few seasonal specials. Yes, they had pumpkin spice for the PSL lovers. They promote a low-carb and gluten-free practice in their dishes and drinks. A plus for anyone who may be health conscious or looking for keto-friendly options. Ordered at cashier; i was recommended the Roasted Mac Nut Latte. My beverage was ready in minutes and my meal available for pickup at counterside moments later, ~10minutes. I ordered the Chicken & Chaffles and it complemented well with my latte. I was shocked how great everything tasted. Chicken was juicy and my waffles were not overly sweet. Some establishments would trade the taste of their food and try to be "healthier". That was not the case here. Enjoyed everything; my stomach was satisfied and I felt light and energized for my run later in the afternoon. I would love to come back to try their other entrées and beverages.
