I'm not Keto but I've been meaning to try this keto cafe for a while. I had a dentist appointment which is in the area so I decided to go to Rise Cafe after. The cafe is small and is located across Daily Whisk Matcha. You can just park in the lot but I had found street parking that day. I was surprised to see the owner, Dr. Jodi, at the front taking orders. She was friendly and personable. I like following her page for keto meal ideas even though I'm not keto, I like to incorporate lower carb meals. I decided to do a to-go order of the Coconut Wireless espresso drink and the breakfast waffle sandwich. I was worried that I wouldn't like the drink because I am iffy about coconut milk but it was actually really good. I got it sweetened with a little honey and it was delicious. The breakfast waffle sandwich was a generous portion of eggs, bacon, cheese between 2 keto waffles. Basically like a keto version of a McGriddle. The waffles didn't taste keto and tasted like regular waffles. Honestly, so good! I could get used to eating like this lol. I'm looking forward to trying her other items on the menu!

The experience was lovely. It's a super cute cafe. The ladies running it were very nice. The food quality was very high. Bacon and egg croffle was tasty. Tried the Mac nut latte, which was good. I prefer a little more espresso but I drank the whole latte. I was stuffed. Will go back again.

Got a high blood sugar? Eat at Rise Cafe! On a low-carb diet? Eat at Rise Cafe! Just want to eat healthier? Eat at Rise Cafe! Rise Cafe located in the Kaimukī, along 11th Ave., right next to Carte Blanche and Subway. There's a couple of dedicated parking spots out front, or in the paid parking lot. This place serves up breakfast items and coffee/tea drinks and follows a Ketogenic diet with its ingredients. Inside is small and cozy with two levels of sitting areas. You just order at the front and they'll bring everything to your table. The Bulletproof Coffee was okay. I would have preferred the butter to be blended in with the coffee and cream instead of on the top. The Americano was good. Solid flavor. Steak and Eggs. Simple. The chimichurri sauce was delicious! Tasty and bright. The steak was a bit overcooked to my medium requested with about half tender, half toothsome. The steak might've sat under cool air because it was not warm when it arrived, and the pieces were mostly room temperature with some chilled cold. Not sure if that is the intention. The eggs, also requested medium, were over easy. The Chicken and Chaffles were very good, especially the chicken! Give me a basket of that! The chicken was so moist, juicy, tender, and flavorful. Nicely battered and fried. The chaffles were more like regular (healthy) waffles than cheesy or eggy. Overall, an all right experience. Enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Comfortable and cozy. Food and drinks were fine. Maybe some adjustments for my preference. Chicken was amazing though! Service was okay. Can't say it was the most friendly or upbeat. Some coffee spillage on floor and table when arrived, but only wiped the floor.. Not a big deal since we have napkins. Maybe I'll come back to try other things. Rise Cafe is truly a health conscious place with better attention to details that's not just fruits and vegetables.

Amazing breakfast!! Keto friendly and gluten free. So different and super delicious!! Food was tasty and savory. So glad we tried it, something different. Will definitely be back.

I come here constantly! For the longest time I couldn't find anywhere in town that was "healthy" and actually healthy (the vegan craze is completely out of hand). I basically buy chaffles in bulk to pop in the air fryer on days when I'm rushing to work, and I'm here probably every other day grabbing brisket and cauliflower rice, or a pistachio matcha latte at a minimum. The staff is always super nice, and Kaimuki is a great area. The prices are super reasonable. Honestly, everywhere I eat on island is so overpriced for a product that isn't even that good for you, so coming here and getting a meal that's really worth your money and good for your body is so refreshing. Update: Sadly I am moving off-island, but I spent my last breakfast at Rise, and it was so worth it (as always). Dr. Jodi and Jeff are just the best people ever! I'm going to miss this place so much. You don't have to be keto to enjoy low-sugar, anti-inflammatory food. No matter what your diet usually consists of, come in and give it a try!

Came after early hot yoga and loved the calm vibe, pretty plants, amazing wi-fi speed, good coffee, tasty latte, and satisfying keto breakfast. There are a lot of options right in the area but definitely check this place out. Food is pretty reasonably priced and I like that they are taking a keto route as I try to avoid gluten most days.

I was excited to see a new cafe open up in the neighborhood. It looks very appealing from the outside and seeing the phrase, "food = medicine" in the front window made me even more curious. I was thinking just how good healthy, nutritious food could be. Well, it was excellent! I started off with a hot mocha, which had a light, sweet flavor with a hint of mocha; very nice. It was not as sweet and syrupy as other cafes. Then I had the loco moco, good choice. The wagyu patty was very tasty topped off with an egg and keto gravy. All blended together nicely and very flavorful. Unlike most times I have a loco moco, this one leaves you feeling good and not stuffed. Seeing the healthy make up of this loco moco, I was extremely surprised and happy with how good it was! My son had the chicken and chaffles, which I had to try after tasting my loco moco. It was also very good and something I would have the next time. Overall, a superb breakfast and lunch spot that I would highly recommend. The service was great, the atmosphere very nice and comfortable. Best tasting "medicine" I've ever had!

Rise Cafe is a hidden gem on 11th Ave! The cafe interiors are tastefully designed, very cozy with extra seating upstairs. Their menu contains a great selection of keto entrees that exceed expectations!

Work lunch Wednesday was ordered from Rise Cafe. I got the kamalu bowl which was interesting. The cauliflower rice had great flavor and I surprised myself by eating it all. The pickled onions brightened up the dish. My least favorite was the bacon because it wasn't crunchy and tough to chew. Give me a vegetarian option and I'd gladly order it. We didn't have to park but there is the kanji municipal lot on the backside that accepts credit cards. There is also metered stalls along waialae ave. The shop is small but I guess there are stairs to an upstairs with more seating but we didn't go up there. Interior is cute and comfy.

My boyfriend wanted to try this place since we were in the area. To be completely honest I was not a huge fan. However, I love the premise of Rise Cafe. The only thing that wowed us was the americano! That was honestly delicious, but the food killed it for us. We thought the portion was small for the crustless quiche (considering price) and the chicken and waffles tasted mediocre. The pancakes tasted a little too doughy and dry, but the chicken was good. It tastes kind of similar to Karage. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. But if you do happen to go I would recommended their drinks!

Quaint little cafe located in Kaimuki. How fitting is it that this health-conscious cafe is right by the park with tennis and basketball ball courts!? They look small from the street level, but they've got a good amount of upstairs seating (albeit cozy) and private restrooms. Their menu, while not extensive, has some nice options. I got the salad flight and a side of bread, while my friend got the back and eggs and a side of waffle. For drinks, I got the hojicha (?) latte and she got a latte. The service was friendly and I think the owner was present. She was quite nice. Offered some health advice, but not pushy at all about it. It is on the pricier side, and it can get loud when busy, but it's healthy keto food. Hoping to see more items in the future!

Friendly service and love the idea it low carb. The owner is a metabolic practitioner and has her office upstairs. She created the restaurant because many of her patients didn't have dining options. People with diabetes, prenatal and post natal care, hormonal and metabolic issues. If a practitioner is willing to open up a restaurant for their patients, you know you'd want them as part of your wellness program. I had the crustless quiche which was delicious and the matcha drink which the name has slipped my mind. I love their display of the amount of sugar is converted in some of the meals we eat. I love the concept and I hope more people stop by to support this restaurant.

The food here was delicious, I went in not knowing it was clean keto. Truly makes eating healthier feel enjoyable and something to recognize. The staff and ambience here were also great, it feels very cozy and welcoming.

Are the waffles gluten-free at rise Café?

Yes they are. We use a small amount of almond flour, but no wheat flour or wheat products. If you are severely gluten intolerant, please be sure to let our staff know so that extra precautions can be taken. Mahalo!

Is this a good place to study?

Yes, there's a nice spot upstairs that's got nice ambience to study. But know it is a place people can dine in; so there may be guests there talking and stuff. But otherwise, I think it's a great place to study.

We've both been here plenty of times with our families over the years, and we'll come for both brunch and dinner depending on the occasion, but this visit was for dinner. Their menu was recently refreshed, so while a few favorites remain, there are quite a few new dishes to explore. I ordered the Watercress/Kale Salad with Grilled Chicken, while my friend went with the Mushroom Risotto topped with Shrimp. Both dishes were fresh, vibrant, and beautifully plated. Nothing overly complicated--just well-executed food that's consistently reliable. Of course, cocktails were a must. My friend paired her meal with the Lychee Hibiscus Martini, while I started with an Espresso Martini. I'm always on the hunt for a standout espresso martini, and this one definitely delivered--smooth, balanced, and one I'd happily order again. The biggest surprise of the night, though, was the Matcha Whey cocktail. After visiting countless cocktail lounges, I wasn't expecting this drink to stand out as much as it did--but it absolutely did. It looks light and almost transparent, so I wasn't exactly sure what I was expecting, but instead it had this incredibly smooth, creamsicle-like finish that was completely unexpected. Easily one of my favorite cocktails I've had in a long time. My only disappointment is that the bone marrow is no longer a item on the menu. It was one of my favorites, and I hope it makes a return someday. Et Al continues to be one of my favorite dependable spots on the island. It's the kind of place my family gives gift cards to for birthdays and special occasions--not just to me, but to other family members and loved ones as well--because it's somewhere we know we'll genuinely enjoy. Whether it's brunch, a casual girls' night, or a special occasion, it never disappoints. Looking forward to seeing what else comes with the new menu, but one thing's for sure--I'll definitely be back. One thing to note is the parking. There's a shared lot for the businesses in the shopping center, and I've never had much trouble finding a spot. That said, the layout can be a little awkward with its narrow lanes in the entrance and tight turns, so navigating through the lot can be more of a headache than actually parking. Fortunately, once you make it through, the convenience of having dedicated parking makes the visit pretty hassle-free.

She can tolerate gluten and dairy with consequences later, but she has a severe nut allergy, so finding something safe for her was the top priority. I wanted to make sure she could finally enjoy a cake without worrying, since she's eaten other farewell cakes in the past, but suffered later. I reached out about two weeks in advance, and Franceska was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. Mondays are limited to custom cake pick-ups within a 2-2:30 pm window, and the day I went happened to coincide with a forecasted storm. I texted to confirm they'd still be open since other businesses were closing, and she reassured me they would be. The cake itself was adorable. The simple design and color palette were beautiful, and my coworker loved it. She chose chocolate ganache with lilikoi buttercream, and the lilikoi flavor was especially lovely; subtle but bright and balanced, and it really tied everything together. Texture-wise, the cake was a little drier than traditional cakes and had a slightly different aftertaste, but that's understandable given the dietary restrictions. It actually grew on me, and most importantly, my coworker was able to enjoy it safely and loved it. If you need desserts that accommodate dietary restrictions, especially vegan or allergen-friendly options, Puʻuwai Bakery is definitely worth considering.

I pinned this spot to visit after completing the hike at Diamond Head Trail as it was nearby…read more At this point on my trip, I had been to a lot of spots, but my partner and I had a craving for a teri plate or burger and this did not disappoint. Pretty simple order, but it was made to order, the veggies were fresh, and the meat was flavorful and not salty. The patty paired really well with the potato bun and veggies. I did not get a picture, but I also stopped inside the market and tried the blueberry cream cheese scone and banana scone. I heated them up when I got back to where I was staying, and it was still very moist and the texture reminded me of a muffin. My only flaw would be I wish that they had more cream cheese as the ratio was kind of off.

Half market on one side and half hot grill/takeout plates on the other side! What a great concept…read morefor Diamond Head Market & Grill located near the Diamond Head Crater in Honolulu! Started by award-winning chef and restauranteur Kelvin Ro in 2002, this popular restaurant is known for its "grab-and-go" market with bakery and deli; and a grill serving local-style plate lunches and burgers. It offers a mix of fresh, local Hawaiian food with casual, quick-service atmosphere, popular with locals and tourists for its fresh, reasonably priced meals and baked goods. The grab-and-go offerings include gourmet deli, house-roasted meats, entrees, salads, sandwiches, soups, and desserts. Non-food merchandise includes creative note cards and freshly made lei. (their lei appear pricy). They also collaborate with other companies to offer taro chips and ice cream. The bakery's popular items include its blueberry cream cheese scones, lemon crunch cake, and Diamond Head torte. The grill has a takeout window and offers upscale local Hawaiian fare with charbroiled and grill services. The items we've tried are: * Blueberry cream cheese scones. Best scones I've ever had! Huge, flaky, moist tender with pockets of solid cream cheese and juicy blueberries make this a popular item! * Lemon crunch cake. The original layered lemon cream cake with toffee bits, with the rumor being a former employee used the same or similar recipe at Aiea Bowl. I still say that this cake at Diamond Head Bakery has more whipped cream, lemon cream, and toffee bits than at Aiea Bowl. * Teri chicken plate. Marinated chicken thighs and glazed with a sweetened Japanese style teri sauce and served with white or brown rice. Nice teri flavor enjoyed by locals, although not too familiar with visitors. Will try the char siu chicken sandwich or chicken plate next time, as it is not normally offered by plate lunch places. Both the grab-n-go and grill sections get busy with customers, and staff are knowledgeable about their items to answer questions produce efficient and quick service. Many appear to be long-time staff. No fancy ambiance, as space is used to display their merchandise for fast turnover. Owner Kelvin Ro has supported the University of HI's Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head through monetary pledges in providing training to students in culinary arts. Hours of operation are 7:30a to 8p daily; award-winning breakfast items made to order (pancakes, fluffy omelets, roasted pork hash, loco moco) every Sat/Sun from 7:30a to 10:30a. Free private parking available fronting the front entrance, although cars may have some difficulty going in and out of the spaces due to congestion during peak hours. Diamond Head Market & Grill offers a mix of fresh, local Hawaiian food with a casual, quick service atmosphere, popular with both locals and tourists with its reasonable price meals and baked goods!
