Instead go with one of the few remaining locally owned services. Worst company and service I have ever received! Had to move from the area and they charged me over $1000. When you start service with them they mandate a 3 year service contract and there is no way to amend it. They will end up charging you for the rest of the contract. The service was incredibly poor and had continued problems the entire time I had their service. Whatever you do go with a different company TDS is the biggest ripoff I have ever experienced. Just ok because I did sign up in mid May then declined the next week when the installer informed me a coaxial cable needed to be laid underground.....really? I live at Crooked River Ranch. My driveway from the front of my garage apron to the driveway apron is 330 ft. Adding the distance at the street to the unknown "tap" and from the garage apron to the side of the house I am guessing a dig length of at least 400 ft. The installer said there would be no additional charge to dig and lay the cable. Really? That is a lot of labor. I didn't believe him. Never saw anything in writing. The TDS CS rep did not inform me of this potential. In fact I presumed the phone wire would be used. The agent rep did not offer up plan details except the monthly fees. Just gleefully set up the account and made the installer appointment. I was foolish for not asking all the pertinent questions. I told the installer I could not proceed asking him to cancel my order. I guess he did because the TDS agent called the next day a bit surprised. She thought she had a sale in the bag. I called back just today to insure my previous account was inactive. It is. Whew! for now........... I wanted to change from Centurylink because I endured 6 weeks of constant interruption, all day long. Buffering, buffering.....Now I am back with CL. Apparently they fixed their equipment issue. Now I know I will remain with CL no matter what as there really aren't any viable, reasonable options out here in no man's land. This is the most poor excuse of a company I've ever dealt with in my entire life. We have been waiting for TWO MONTHS for internet service at our new office in Sisters. We have three separate companies that need this service and can't run without internet. They can't give any reason as to why, they never call back when promised, and they are all around a joke of a company. Meanwhile, we are all three paying rent on a building we can't use for our business because we can't get internet! Do absolutely anything you can to avoid this company- I am beyond furious and embarrassed that my business partners put me in charge of setting up internet and it simply can't get done. Horrible company. I scheduled an install for WiF. They came out and told me they had to reschedule because I needed a fiber installation. I was told someone would contact me. However not once was I contacted. I called over three different times to get a technician out to my residence. Every single phone call I was brought back to square one due to their incompetence and inability to do a simple job. They never rescheduled me, and had to start my installation order over again. This set the date back over 2 weeks from the promised installation date. They are the embodiment of the cable company off South Park. read more

About 10 minutes out of every hour we have no internet. The internet just stops working, then after about 5 minutes, the modem reboots which takes a few more minutes, then we get internet again for a little while until it happens again. One of us works from home, so we upgraded our service plan with TDS to try and reduce the constant service interruptions, which seems to have done nothing to improve the situation. TDS is the worst internet provider I have ever had the misfortune of using. I am not a person who does a lot of reviews, this is my first ever on Yelp. That's how bad TDS is. Ever since TDS took over, service has declined, prices keep rising every other month and customer service is awful. Bend Cable was great with local customer service and reasonable prices. Bendbroadband raised prices but were still local with people who would work with you. TDS is overrated and overpriced. No dec customer service. We cancelled after 25 years. read more

We recently got an upgrade to our modem for TDS cable. We've been customers since the 1980s, and Bend Broadband wasn't wonderful when it came to service, but TDS "has the absolute WORST customer service" !! We have a problem with the box that controls the TV and sends the wi-fi signal to the TV. I spent more than hour on the phone, 2 different calls, to their support center, in Jamaica, and the problem continued. So out of desperation I went to the TDS office in Bend. I explained the problem and asked if someone could come out and look at what's going on. Just before I went there, I paid our bill for the next month, $168...it's a lot, but other things like Direct TV are lacking. So, I was stunned when they said it would cost $60 to have a technician come look at the problem. Not acceptable! If you have any other option, AVOID TDS at all costs!!!! read more

Well, the internet works and is fast enough. I've seen lots of complaints on outages and speed, but that's never been an issue for me. Netflix streams in HD, etc (central Bend located), but I'm a casual user. Where this company falls flat on its face is billing and service. In 11 months I have spent 5+ hours trying to set up autopay, including four telephone calls to their friendly-but-unhelpful service line. Like clockwork, I get nasty grams in the mail that I'm behind on payments because -- surprise -- my last effort to set up online bill pay (which I'd been assured by phone was done) failed. Their online billing system makes Comcast look excellent by comparison. I would pay a premium to not have to deal with their billing processes, and will be changing providers as soon as a viable option is available. read more

I rated this business when they were Bend Broadband and if their customer service was abysmal then, their actual products are crap now. The guy who installed our new modem and whatever its called box for the TV, was amazing. Super caring about the job he did but was horrified the person who sold me this awful package did not tell me I'd lose all my stored shows. Nor did she tell me I was losing sooooooo many channels. The basic package has, like, 8 channels including cspan and pbs. Yay. YOU CANNOT FAST FORWARD THROUGH YOUR RECORDED SHOWS WITH THIS NEW SHITSHOW OF A BUSINESS MODEL. What is the entire purpose for recording/saving shows??? So you don't have to watch the commercials. And with the first recorded show we watched, there were 8 freaking commercials in the first commercial "break ". This is untenable. We will be looking for alternatives. Super expensive for not a great product. The service guy, maybe Ted, was great. No problems with the person who installed this mess. I hope I get the same guy when he we find something better to switch to and they take this monstrosity system out. I'd give the service guy higher stars, but TDS deserves negative stars. After having to call them and get a technician out twice they ultimately suggested getting the 300mbps package. After getting a new modem that could handle 300mbps and spending over $150 (mo bill now at $75, was $45) my speeds at night and sometimes during the day are 4-10mbps upload and 5-8mbps download (never gets to 100mbps). Not only do I feel ripped off but they said if I get a TV package it would speed up. OMG by throttling my speeds back do they think I'm going to pay more? What the hell is wrong with these guys? I have a feeling they have monopolized and cornered the market and are overcharging and not living up to the products they sell. When we moved into our place BBB was the only option for our complex. I talked with a sales rep and it took them a bit to come out and set up the internet so in return the sales rep gave us unlimited data and extended our promo for 2 years instead of 1. After a year they cut off my promo and when I called they told me it was only a 1 year promo and they can't do anything for me unless I bundle services. Recently they increased the prices of my service without telling me. They also sent me a promo where I get unlimited data and TV for only a couple of more dollars a month. I tried putting in the offer online but the only offer they show me for my account is adding wifi and since it was after hours I put in a request on their site and they said they would get back to me in a couple of days, a week later no one got back to me by phone or email. I just called in and asked about the promo and it was way more than advertised after tacking on taxes/fees. When I had comcast I was paying less than I am now for gig internet with no data caps...it's really sad that this company makes me miss comcast. The technicians I've talked/worked with are super nice and great but I would literally go with any other company if I could. read more

BBB bought out the local cable internet provider in Madras in November 2017, and immediately our service began to decline. At peak hours, we get 5 Mpbs at best, though often as low as 2 Mbps. We pay for 35, which should not be difficult to sustain in a low population area. I spoke with someone at our local branch, and they were well of the problem but said there was nothing they could do except wait for Bend Broadband to fix the issue. It's been four months. I don't see them fixing it anytime soon. read more

7 years I've lived in Bend. 7 years I've been looking for an alternative to BendBroadband. Customer service is horrific. Trying to pay my bill takes at least 30 minutes each month as the website is down and the phone support wants to take a $5 surcharge to pay via phone... even though paying online is not an option. I work from home and rely on internet for video calls and such. Paying for the highest speeds available still results in slow internet all day long, often forcing me to use my cellular data as it's faster. Internet boosters in the house don't help as the problem is with the provider. Now on the waitlist for Starlink. Because anything would be better than BendBroadband. read more

Well adding the the many shinning reviews, bendbroadband has been nothing but a hassle and customer service is lacking greatly. Having moved to a new house they told us they still needed to bury lines and install a pedestal. After talking with community management turns out they completed these tasks two years before the house was finished. So we've been in limbo with the company telling us out address is unserviceable and is under review while somehow our neighbors have been fully serviced and there's proof the lines and pedestals have been installed prior. I guess that's to be expected by a company with such horrible reviews. Do better. read more

This seems like one of those reviews destined for an update. So, with some trepidation, I'll rate my experience with BendBroadband so far. After reading the horror stories about Bend internet providers here and elsewhere (NextDoor primarily), I despaired. It seems like Bend is a backwater of connectivity, which surprised me because of the forward-leaning nature of the city as a whole. BendBroadband is the (former, it seems) local outfit that advertises all the right things: speed, service, options. Its main competitor, Century Link - a DSL internet provider - says the right things too, but DSL is an older, slower technology. Anyway, because my house in NW Bend was wired from the pole for both cable and DSL, I had a choice without incurring extra installation cost. I chose BB. After visiting the actual brick and mortar 'store' north of town, I had an installation appointment for internet only. They offer 100M and 300M service but reviews suggest you're not going to get more than 100 even if you sign up for 300. So, 100 it is. BB tech came out on time. He was pretty cool - after determining that I knew a wire from a string (I'm an electrical/control system engineer although woefully behind on computer/internet technology), he was forthcoming about what he was doing, which I appreciated. I like to know what is happening with my house, in detail. Hooking up the correct cable and terminators in the box went quickly, as did the modem/router setup. I was up and running in short order with hard wire and wi-fi accessed by two different computers. Yay! One thing I didn't like was the way BB sets up the cable input to the house. Unless you arrange for something different (and more expensive), you only get one feed. I have two cables running from the box into the house but I had to choose one. Other providers (in other cities) seem to be able to split the signal easily without loss (using the right splitters, of course), but I guess BB doesn't do it that way. So, if I choose to move the modem to the other cable, I have to go out to the box to swap cables. So, does it work well after a month has passed? Bottom line: yes and no. A speed test shows 97 download/4.8 upload with hardwire this morning (which is good) but the wi-fi is weak and is consistently weak. The wi-fi signal strength in the house is strong (especially after installing an extender - Netgear AC1900) but all the computers and the TV with an Amazon Fire Stick struggle to stream wi-fi content. The laptops need to take a minute or two to load webpages and the TV often buffers. I'll probably need to run a line into the TV instead of relying solely on wi-fi, or I may choose to purchase a TV package from BB. We'll see. Until then, I rate BendBroadband as A-OK. I was hoping I could give them a 5-star rating. :( read more

It's hilarious when I read some people who L O V E BendBroadband (BB) actually call people that have an opinion (Like Me), "Ignorant" and "Negative". Please understand that we could say the same about people that love BB. Don't you think it's silly to have a pissing match on Yelp? Aren't we here to review, cheer on and/ or criticize? I will speak for myself only. 1. Why do I need to understand BB and all its problems? I (Me) am paying them (BB) for a service. But, I always understand and sympathize with any company that has issues. At times... all do. That's N O T why I gave BB 1 star. 2. It appears that being a BIG company makes it much less personal, less efficient, and less flexible. One example: I called them to QUIT service on my TV. They then talked me into staying. Because... I was told that my monthly bill was going to be $68.00. A fact. Then 2 months later my bill was $73.00. They say it's a one-time hike in price! That's just 1 example of how messed up they are. I DO NOT expect perfection. I get it when my internet keeps coming in and out (for a very short time thank God) every day! Yes, every day. I get it when people are having a bad day and they do NOT want to help with my issues. I could go on and on. But it's just a cable company. Not a huge deal. I just pray for a better (Less expensive and more efficient) company to move into the area. I give this company a 1 star because of the management and owners who really appear to not care about our satisfaction. Not the average workers at BB. P.S. Inconsistent product with awful outsourced customer service. I work from home and so internet is hugely important. When my auto payment CC expired, they waited 15 days to terminate my service without notifying me. All it took was a new CC. When I called to fix it, they made me wait for an hour to speak to someone, and then took 24 hours to turn back on after I updated my payment meathod. read more

I have now spent over an hour trying to get services restored, spoke with multiple people who keep transferring me to another department. We pay for ESPN, they list a Warriors basketball game, instead they have on a low level midwest college game. They list an NFL game on a prime channel, instead tehy showed canned content about some remote sports figure. BB obviously doesn't want to pay for the content, just charge us for it. Absolutely abysmal company. Beyond deplorable. Having dealt with spotty service (despite paying a good chunk for a fast plan) and crappy customer service, I finally switched to a local internet provider. It was discovered, when I went to cancel my account with TDS, that they had been charging me for a modem for nearly two and a half years - but had a note in my file that I had purchased my own modem when I first started service with them back in 2022. I asked for a refund of this, since it was their mistake and not mine, and I was told they could only credit my account for the last six months, which would barely cover my final service bill. So they're basically keeping nearly $250 of my hard-earned money because THEY made a mistake and won't correct it. I cannot urge you enough to avoid this despicable company at all costs if you can. If you have no choice but to go with them, make sure you are not incurring any extra charges when you sign up. Watch your bill like a hawk and chew them out the moment they make a mistake. read more

I unfortunately had the displeasure of having TDS as my cable and internet service. If I could give negative stars I would have ! They have a monopoly in tour area for cable and internet. I cannot begin to tell you the times I have had to deal with their terrible customer service. BUT just beware, I decided to stop my cable services and just watch tv through internet service. I called and cancelled my cable service on the 12th (New billing cycle starts the 15th), they gave me a deal on adding phone line w/ internet so stupidly I said yes. The soonest the tech could come out was the 18th. The tech took my cable boxes on the 18th (had not been using them because I thought it was disconnected) when he was there for service. According to TDS I did not cancel my services before the 15th cause they didn't get the boxes until the 18th. This resulted in them billing me $227 for a month of services when I didn't even have the boxes to use their ridiculous cable. Paying $227 for a service THAT I WAS NOT USING is what is wrong with cable companies. It's a scam, it's their money grab. Please please if you can, stay away from TDS. read more
