Before CenturyLink bought my original internet service provider, customer service/tech support was great. Recently, service has gone out a few times and for several hours at a time, sometimes with the company's website and app going down AS WELL and their tech chat texts going unanswered. A few weeks ago during a service outage, I waited on hold on chat for FOUR HOURS. Their website didn't mention an outage (as it claims it will), but the technician informed me there was an outage in my area. I thought it was an issue with MY setup, and obviously wouldn't have spent hours waiting to speak to someone if I'd known there was a widespread outage. Terrible customer service in sales, as well, and price hikes every few months. I would not recommend giving this company your money. read more

We have had DSL internet from them since 2005. They are a bit slow (10mbs) but we get along ok. Can stream 1080P, which looks wonderful on our QLED 65" Samsung. The local tech has done a wonderful job getting us up to this speed. Has been really dependable and very very seldom do we need any help. These one star reviews must have not used bend broadband before... Our BB WiFi was $75 a month and (no exaggeration here) we reset our router every single day, multiple times a day. Two of the rooms in our house didn't even get it, and our place is about 1200 sq ft. Century Link on the other has been OUTSTANDING! We switched to them about 6 months back, haven't had to reset our router even one time, we get the same quality WiFi in every room of the house, and only pay $50. Can't speak to the customer service because we haven't had to call them since installation, but I can say that the service we got that day was awesome. The guy showed up early, got it installed wicked fast, and then we shared pictures of our dogs and he helped me find some cool places to visit on the southern coast for our upcoming road trip. Sick of their service. Automated call or someone else on the other side of earth. Not even got a month worked great for the first week. Called they updated modem, work for 12 hours and back to no internet. Called, request for call back. 3 days pass and no call back. Finally got to talk to a human, sent me a replacement modem. They helped get me set up fast and easy, they walked me through everything, and they were able to get me an installation date faster than the online program! They are super affordable and their service doesn't have caps like other local providers. The rates are extremely affordable, and I have never had a bad experience with them in the past at other apartments. Definitely call the local number to get this great, reliable service! read more

So far so good, I just started using Centurylink a couple months ago. I researched as much as I could before deciding to go with them. There were a few other choices, but Centurylink seemed to be the best bang for my buck after speaking with customer service employees at a few electronic stores as well as friends and family. Despite the poor reviews they seem to have, good streaming, great deals, and low prices. I bought my own modem/router for 50$. The setup was a little difficult as it was not a recommended modem, but after a call to customer support, my internet is running like a champ. From what I have been told, CenturyLink used to be slow and now is getting faster, with unlimited downloads. From time to time, our service in my neighborhood does slow down, but for 30 bucks a month it's amazing. Here is what you need to do to get a good experience. Do some research for blogs about Centurylink and how to avoid all the costly fees. There are a ton out there, so just google it. Tell them you want to supply your own modem to avoid the modem rental charge, and the 20$s shipping fee to buy their routers. Then buy a cheap modem/router from amazon and make sure its compatible. Then you may need to call their customer support for setup, but this should be a breeze. Then sign up for paperless billing for another discount. Lastly, if you're up for it and read the details, sign the contract for the last discount. It's a judgment call on this one as there is a hefty cancellation fee. But you can get some fast internet for a cheap price if you do. read more

I would like to share my experience so far: I ordered Centurylink on the phone with a customer service sales rep several weeks ago. I do not recall his name. He says the conversation was recorded for quality service. He sold me CenturyLink telling me I could have 40mg in my home . I told the representative that I needed new TV service as well and he sold me AT&T. He told me I would receive a $100 Visa gift card in the mail, which I have not. He also told me that I would need 1 AT&T box. I stated I have 2 TV's, one in the bedroom and one the living room. He told me one box would work. The rep then told me he would have a CenturyLink box sent to me via UPS and the AT&T box would come separately. I received the AT&T box within 48 hours. The AT&T has a 14 day trial period. Next: I had a technician named Ric from CenturyLink came to my home for a scheduled appointment 7 days later. Ric was 100% and I appreciated him immensely. 1.The problem was, although I was promised 40mg, it appears I could only get 20mg. I have buffering on the internet and lost connection periodically. 2. The second problem was that the AT&T trial was already 7 days into it without the CenturyLink modem box which never arrived via UPS. Ric took a box off of his truck and gave it to me so we could establish service. 3. I phoned AT&T and was told I needed an additional TV box and the fee was $120 more plus additional monthly service. This was not explained properly by the sales rep at CenturyLink. Additionally, I had no time for the 14 day trial because Centurylink did not send me the UPS package I needed. No internet, no TV. I returned the AT&T Box. Next: An additional technician was sent to my home to find out why I wasn't getting the 40mg. He looked at the outside connection in the neighborhood and said that the box was overloaded and someone put a "wire" in the wrong location and that Portland, Oregon center would repair this. Forgive me if I don't have the technical part of the equation entirely correct but it is close. Justin, the technician, called Portland from his vehicle assuring me they would take care of it and that another rep would be coming to my home at a scheduled Friday appointment to make sure it was working correctly. No one ever came by. Next: I phoned Shaun, the service Supervisor, Bend, Oregon, at least 5 times: 4 Voice Mails and 1 conversation with him explaining this problem. He told me he would get back to me and it has been over 1 week. He has yet to come up with any solution or phone me back. Just the other day, 2 weeks later, I received the UPS package with the CenturyLink box modem. I now have 2 modems, as I explained to Shaun and one needs to be returned. I have Never Heard from Shaun, Justin or Ric. The sales supervisor out of Idaho gave me one month at no charge, but what good is that if the internet is still not working properly with 40mg? This place is AW-FUL! Per the usual 1 star review, I'm giving 1 star because there is no option for zero stars. Interestingly, I haven't shared the same problems as the rest of the reviews here. The Customer Service agents I spoke to weren't in the Phillipines but they still sucked. So many issues here, First - sales people came door to door slamming our local internet provider saying that they don't give dedicated bandwidth, and that they can offer WWAAYY better speeds at a fraction of the cost. So we tried it out. It took forever for our modem to get here, then we couldn't set it up on our own so we had to wait for a technician to come out....between 8am - 12pm on a Saturday and he showed up at like 11:45...typical. So, I started noticing issues right away. Our internet was NOT faster than what we had with our local company. A speed test confirmed that they were running at barely 20% of our previous speeds. I called to cancel and here's what happened: 1. The girl in retention told me I couldn't cancel because my husband's name was the only name on the account, and passed me over to tech support to see if was a "modem issue" 2. Tech support guy told me they don't even offer speeds that match what we were getting with our local company, told me he would send a Fedex Label for us to use instead of printing one out and passed me back to Customer Support 3. Customer Support told me they CAN cancel because I could verify the SSN on the account, canceled our service, and told us we would get a rebate of about $50 sent to us Almost 2 weeks later, no fedex label and no check so I called again. Today Nathan told me that we owe $30, when I got annoyed at all this miscommunication he interrupted me, tried to pass me to financial services, when I told him I wanted to talk to the escalation team he stuck me on hold, and then came back and told me the escalation team wanted to pass me to financial services (Noting that I have to call financial services myself because they can't transfer me...) Finally I got on the phone with the least helpful escalation girl ever, Rickie... who gave zero answers and made zero reparation, other than confirming that not a single department seems to communicate with any other department. The miscommunication about our bill aside, when I told her I still haven't received the Fedex label she told me that tech support doesn't know anything about cancelations so he wouldn't have sent a label. Um ok, can you send one? First she wanted me to print it out myself, no thanks, and then she says, "Ok we'll mail you a physical label. It looks like we already sent one on the 13th, they look like junk mail maybe you missed it" OK SO I'M SORRY, did you just tell me that tech support doesn't know anything about cancelations and so wouldn't have sent a label, and then tell me that you already sent a label and I threw it away???? So I guess we'll see if I ever do get that Fedex label.... Zero customer service whatsoever. Yes, I am angry, and every single one of them matched my exact tone. Customer service 101 - don't take it personal, don't match tone, and don't interrupt. The people in the Phillipines with the other 1 star reviews are probably better at customer service than these losers. If you live in Bend, OR go with Bend Broadband. I would rather pay more and support local business with people who are actually helpful than sell out to another big internet provider where they use greasy sales tactics and there is no accountability and greasy. heading to the BBB from here... read more

Stay away from CenturyLink. Very poor customer service. When calling their toll free number, someone in the Philippines answers. There is a long time delay and trying to discuss the problem and as a consequence we are often talking over each other. The standard response after waiting to speak with someone with a heart beat for 10 minutes is, "wrong department. I'll transfer you to someone who can help." Another 10-minutes waiting. Again, wrong department. I spent six hours yesterday trying to resolve a problem before I finally found someone who knew what to do. Don't use Autopay! If there is problem, you won't know until it's too late. They will penalize you an $20 extra because the autopay didn't work. Then when you want pay with with credit card with an agent, there is a $3.50 fee. read more

Zero customer service. I spent four hours on the phone one day and a little over three the next. After 2 months of trying to get service established! It was awful! They couldn't find my billing or account information but were charging my credit card! One lady got it reversed and a tech sent out, and credits five! We were excited to finally get service! I'm only giving one star because I have to. Connection is horrible, so slow we can't stream movies. It's basically like having expensive dial up. Customer service in their billing department is horrible and the gal I spoke with was asking a lot of weird questions and then tried to force me to set up auto pay. When I declined she asked me for my bank information to do auto pay. Once again I declined and said I just want to make my payment by phone today. She started back in with wanting my bank info. Tried ending the call without telling me what she charged on my card, didn't tell me about the $3.50 additional charge to make a payment by phone and didn't offer me a confirmation number and seemed less then thrilled when I asked for it. read more

I would never ever recommend this company to anyone! I had an appointment scheduled for internet and the day my scheduled appointment I called to see where the technician was. First, I was told they had no record of me and then after a very long time on hold all of a sudden I'm told they will not provide service to me and when I asked WHY they said that I needed to contact the credit bureau because they can not discuss this with me. They refused to put a supervisor on the phone when I requested one explaining there must be a mistake. Then Carl had the balls to hang up on me. My credit score is 827? So being new to area and unaware I had options other than this horrible excuse for a business I asked a friend to make another appointment for my house but use her name instead of mine. The technician who showed up was very nice but told my friend we are not even in their service area and it would cost thousands to give us internet because of how much trenching it would require. After weeks of trying to contact someone locally in Bend, the only people we could ever get through to were people on foreign countries who could not even find us an account, they created a fake account number for us as well as obtained my SSN birthday and card number to set up the alleged service. However I found out I was scammed and charges started apprearimg on my card from fake " Direct Tv" and "Centurylink." We still do not have any internet and will never be using CenturyLink again. Not only is it impossible to contact local employees but their 24/7 customer service will take your personal information and scam you. STAY AWAY FROM CENTURYLINK. read more

The supervisor implied that I was stupid to expect any different because they are so busy. This does not fit my definition of excellent customer service. Century link is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Without going into a months worth of phone calls. I will say that every single person I have talked to has had a different answer including that I have 3 different accounts set up. My husbands and my credit was ran to start new accounts that we never authorized or asked to set up. How they even got my personal social security is beyond me since I never gave them that info. There has not been one person who could actually answer why they ran our credit even though I have the letters in my hand stating they did. After being transferred to 9 different associates and trying to figure out the same thing and none of them could help me while being hung up on twice. At this point I have no idea what my bill is, why my credit was ran, how many accounts are truly set up in our name and why each person has different information regarding our account. I've been already on the phone for 2 1/2 hours and I don't have it in me to do it al over again. For anyone who is not yet a customer I recommend finding any other option.
