In the year 2026, when most people just can't wait to go to some business, have a bad experience, and whine and complain about it online, I challenge any of you haters to walk into Mactek and have an honest complaint about the service you receive. This place is phenomenal. Full of do-gooders. Go-getters. Absolute champions of competency at their craft, and their craft is in high demand in the technological age. I've come into this business twice now, and both times I left feeling like I made the right decision going to these guys for help. A few months ago, I broke my 6 year old iPhone that I was too stubborn to replace. After they did a phenomenal job fixing it for me, I dropped it in the lake (my own fault) and it was clear it was time to just replace the device. I tried going to my phone carrier first (my phone carrier has 2 stores in bend. I have NEVER had a good experience at either of my own phone carrier's stores.) After wasting 2 hours in one of these said stores, I knew it was time to call in the big guns and just go to Mactek. Let me tell you I could have easily saved more than 2 hours of my life if i had just went to Mactek first. Colm greeted me the moment I walked in, I told him I need a new phone, gotta transfer some data from my old one that barely works, and he was more than helpful to all of my problems. He went so far above and beyond to make sure I was set up with my new phone, he even transferred my number/cellular data onto my new phone without me having to go back to my phone carrier store. I'm beyond impressed with this place and I'm about to tell everyone not just in central Oregon, but in the entire state of Oregon and beyond that this is the best Tec repair store in this time zone. I lost my email connection with my MSN email. Sometimes it would not accept my password, then would and then disconnect me within 10 minutes. I took to GeekSquad nearer to my home in Redmond. They told me I needed a new computer or to call Microsoft. Ugh!. I took to MackTek who literally fixed it within 10 minutes. A lovely women scrolled through several screens, clicked here and there and it was fixed!! She did not charge me for the service. I am so happy. I learned a valuable lesson. Not friendly whatsoever. Went in to get help on MacBook and just arrogant and quite frankly shockingly rude. Rarely do I leave a review. In the service industry and own a business as well. My 2010 Mac Book Pro needed attention. Last Thursday, I brought it in to Mac Tek. Early Friday morning, I received an email describing what minor problem it had. My knees went weak with relief. The charge was absolutely minimal. On Monday I picked it up; on Tuesday, I had a baffling problem ( my problem, nothing to do with Mac Tek) with my Mac, and I went back to Mac Tek. The help was instantly available, and I left happily. Best part? There was no further charge; I was already in the system. When considering local repair options for my MacBook Pro, (needing a battery replacement) I stumbled upon this place and they came in less than half on cost and less than 24 hour turn-around time (other local shop was backed up by a week). When working with their staff I noticed they had a higher level of customer service than I would normally expect from any shop akin to the Apple Store. Be careful. I was quoted $259 and ended up paying $359 when I picked up! I was never contacted about a price change. See below for details. I called ahead and got a quote for $259 for an OEM screen replacement on a iPhone XS Max. When I dropped off my phone they looked it over and we discussed pricing (to confirm the quote) and timeline. They asked me questions to fill out my customer profile which included a good contact number and my email address. When I came back to pick up my phone a few hours later, they told me that because my phone was an XS max that the price was actually $359. They said they were happy to change out the screen for me to pick up NEXT DAY if I wasn't happy with that price. KNOWING they inaccurately quoted me. They never attempted to contact me before starting the project to confirm it was still okay for them to move forward. Instead they took the liberty to decide for me and then when I arrive to pick it up they tell me I either have to pay over $100 more, or pick up next day. I own a marketing agency, my phone is a large part of my job. I couldn't do next day! While I assume this was a lazy and careless mistake, you're a business who "specializes" in handling this exact kind of technology. To have held my phone in your hands, confirmed the $259 price with me and then gave me an ultimatum of upcharge or pick my phone up next day was awful customer service and horrible business practice. I would never trust this business to give me an accurate quote or handle my technology correctly. read more

We noticed Mactek while driving around Bend. My wife's iPhone 7 plus screen had cracked and we wanted to get it repaired. We dropped in at approximately 9:15 a.m. to have the phone repaired. They said they could do it and it would take about an hour and a half. We left the phone and ran a few errands. A few minutes after we left I received a text message from Mactek to let us know that they were in touch with us via text. We went back to the store at approximately 10:45 to find out that they hadn't even started on the phone. They told us that they had an emergency and we were told it would take another 45 minutes. Since we were leaving town we decided not to leave the phone. The interesting thing is that even though they had established contact with us via text they did not bother to inform us of the delay or that they would not be able to get to the phone. Took my 2014 Macbook Pro into Mactek On October 15 2016 due to liquid damage. The computer has been in that shop pretty much ever since. As I write this it is 1/23/2017 over three months later. I have my macbook back but it is barely functional. They told me I could purchase a new motherboard and I did so. About 2 months later the new motherboard was installed. About 1 week after the installation the new motherboard failed and the computer would not turn on. I took it back to mactec and they told me their parts should be under warranty. They have since changed their story and told me their parts may or may not be under warranty and that they are "working" on getting the new motherboard repaired/replaced. Without discussing with me, they attempted a "refurbishment" of the old motherboard, gave the computer back to me with the old water damaged motherboard installed, and told me this was what they were able to do to resolve my situation. This is after paying them over $1,300 in repair costs. I order product "A" and they give me product "B". To make matters worse, the old motherboard that was inserted into the machine in a desperate attempt to resolve the situation, showed signs of failure a day after I took it home. I am still working with them to come to an amicable solution, if they manage to repair or replace my new motherboard I will update and edit this review. 3/7/2017 Review Update: The issue has come to an amicable solution and I am very grateful that Mactek worked very hard to make this issue right. I appreciate the followthrough and commitment to good customer service and honest business. Glad to come to a solution with these folks. This is an incredible little business. I called about a problem with my Macbook and with my iPhone and was told I could take them in to the shop in one hour. Took them in and the tech spent about 1 minute fixing the problem with the Macbook and just handed it back to me with no charge. I had to leave my iPhone for a couple hours. The tech changed out a part several times, that was possibly involved in the problem I was having. It didn't fix the problem. They would not charge me for that either, and spent the time to tell me exactly how to report the problem to Apple Support. A great experience....every time I have been there! read more

My 27" iMac would not start up past the grey screen. Took it into these guys while visiting Bend for two weeks on vacation. They said the repair would take two days. It took 7...and was never repaired! I did have to pay a service fee however. Um..? I was told my hard drive had failed & I needed a new one. They put in a 4TB drive. It failed. Then a 6TB was suggested. It failed. All of this would of course cost more $$$. After a week, I picked up my iMac, still broken, and was told they had no idea what was wrong. Oh. I was told it was dusty & that may be the issue. Wow! So, I took it over to Simply Mac in Bend where they actually ran a diagnostic test! The AMD Radeon HD 6970M video card failed the test. This is a well known issue with my specific model of iMac! Wow! Not only did Simply Mac replace it ASAP, Apple also covered the cost of the repair because it's a well known issue. Shocked this was never tested or thought of by these guys. They had a computer a WEEK & could not even diagnose the real issue. read more
