I would give no stars if I could. We were loyal customers for many, many years in spite of cruddy internet speeds. I finally got tired of it and switched to another provider. Because I called 7 days into the cycle and the bill had already been printed, they would not prorate and refund my money for the remaining part of the billing cycle. So I heard that centurylink had the best offers but after today I can say they don't have the best customer service. I started my question with chat which then transferred me to another department after 20 minutes then after 15 minutes another department I needed to be transferred to. 2 transfers later and another 15 minutes I find that the technician that was supposed to come out and install my Wi-Fi went to the main box out in the street and couldn't connect for whatever reason. So waited between 1 & 5. I started my chatting adventure at 3:50 to see if they could give me an estimated arrival time for my technician. They couldn't give me a time when he had gone out to the box, so there I sat unaware (due to lack of communication) that my Wi-Fi was unable to be installed today. Like I just have all the time in the world to be sitting around the house with nothing better to do, and I'm going to have to do it yet again! By 4:45 I finally got "we have rescheduled you for June 21st" WTF! What happen to "it only takes 3 days to get your Wi-Fi installed"? When I asked why I wasn't contacted, why June 21st when you originally gave me 3 days, they hung up on me 4:50. Thank you Centurylink for your "exceptional" customer service. No apology no " we will look into why there was no communication to let you know that your Wi-Fi would not be installed today so your not waiting unnecessarily". They also didn't say that they would offer to give me back my $200 upfront fee for service and equipment that I will not receive until June 21st. Even half until the 21st when it's SUPPOSED to be installed. This all could have been avoided had they just made the effort to contact me when the technician found out he couldn't turn on my service and that he would not be needing me to wait at the house for him to come by to finish the install. If you don't have a business ethic you should be able to fall back on common courtesy. A respect for not just your time and effort but your customers as well. Read your procedures people, you know you have them. 5/29 update: CL has just sent me an email on how to install my own modem. As of today no internet, no modem. I swear they just wanna torment you. ZERO STARS! Do whatever you need to do to get your internet service somewhere else. Here is why: 1. Any time I called Century Link for help, I waited no less that 30 minutes before my call was answered. 2. Instead of hold music they play an add for their services on repeat; it's maddening. 3. When I knew that I was moving and needed to stop service, I called a week before, waited on hold for over half an hour, and was finally told that I could not schedule an end to my service before my move out date. I had to call back on the day I moved out, to end my service...as if it's going to be convenient for me, or that I will have a spare hour to spend on hold, on that day to take care of it. I didn't. 4. When I DID call them the day after moving out, and after waiting another half an hour on hold and then being disconnected and having to call back, I was told that it was just after they auto-debited my credit card for another month's service and can't refund me the $79.99 for a month of service I won't be using. It's their (shitty) policy. In sum, Century Link is not concerned about their customer's experience and will not try to earn your business. You deserve better. read more

CenturyLink sucks! They have to connect to their services through a frickin phone jack and the connection is slower that a turtle. It spins in the loading screen for 10 minutes and then fails. It's not even internet, it's crap. These speeds would've been fine in 2005. And my devices won't connect to it. No wonder CenturyLink is called that. It takes a century to load. read more

this service is an actual joke, nightmare, & horror story at the same time. internet doesn't work half the time. customer service will blow smoke and waist time. i literally am left without internet half the time. kids can't go to school and miss class work because we don't have internet- they do not care! i wish i could go with another provider but there's no other option. this is like being in internet jail! absolutely the worst service i have ever used. for anything. mcdonald's could probably provide better internet service. shame on your whole company!!!! horrible! beyond pathetic! just close! it would offer the world a bitter option because they won't be up late at night yelping their incredible inept internet service provider. if this helps get them out of business sooner, good! hopefully rid the world of your sewage scum service! read more

This company will do everything they can to get you off the phone. Expect to be put on hour long holds and then get hung up on! Do not make the mistake of doing business with this company! Their package bundle deals involve companies that refuse to communicate with each other. When billing issues occur, century link will want full payment regardless of billing mistakes that were made by Dish Network, AT&T or Direct Tv. Protect your families finances, protect your time, and choose anything else. I would like to share my experience so far: I ordered Centurylink on the phone with a customer service sales rep several weeks ago. I do not recall his name. He says the conversation was recorded for quality service. He sold me CenturyLink telling me I could have 40mg in my home . I told the representative that I needed new TV service as well and he sold me AT&T. He told me I would receive a $100 Visa gift card in the mail, which I have not. He also told me that I would need 1 AT&T box. I stated I have 2 TV's, one in the bedroom and one the living room. He told me one box would work. The rep then told me he would have a CenturyLink box sent to me via UPS and the AT&T box would come separately. I received the AT&T box within 48 hours. The AT&T has a 14 day trial period. Next: I had a technician named Ric from CenturyLink came to my home for a scheduled appointment 7 days later. Ric was 100% and I appreciated him immensely. 1.The problem was, although I was promised 40mg, it appears I could only get 20mg. I have buffering on the internet and lost connection periodically. 2. The second problem was that the AT&T trial was already 7 days into it without the CenturyLink modem box which never arrived via UPS. Ric took a box off of his truck and gave it to me so we could establish service. 3. I phoned AT&T and was told I needed an additional TV box and the fee was $120 more plus additional monthly service. This was not explained properly by the sales rep at CenturyLink. Additionally, I had no time for the 14 day trial because Centurylink did not send me the UPS package I needed. No internet, no TV. I returned the AT&T Box. Next: An additional technician was sent to my home to find out why I wasn't getting the 40mg. He looked at the outside connection in the neighborhood and said that the box was overloaded and someone put a "wire" in the wrong location and that Portland, Oregon center would repair this. Forgive me if I don't have the technical part of the equation entirely correct but it is close. Justin, the technician, called Portland from his vehicle assuring me they would take care of it and that another rep would be coming to my home at a scheduled Friday appointment to make sure it was working correctly. No one ever came by. Next: I phoned Shaun, the service Supervisor, Bend, Oregon, at least 5 times: 4 Voice Mails and 1 conversation with him explaining this problem. He told me he would get back to me and it has been over 1 week. He has yet to come up with any solution or phone me back. Just the other day, 2 weeks later, I received the UPS package with the CenturyLink box modem. I now have 2 modems, as I explained to Shaun and one needs to be returned. I have Never Heard from Shaun, Justin or Ric. The sales supervisor out of Idaho gave me one month at no charge, but what good is that if the internet is still not working properly with 40mg? CenturyLink has been billing me incorrectly, ever since my services was turned off accidently, during training, by new employee. I've had to call ever month for the last 7 or 8 months to have my bill corrected and adjusted from $192 plus to the $65.00 that it's suppose to be. although they do make the adjustment, this is a very unprofessional and time consuming for me. When I call, I get transferred from person to person for a half hour to an hour trying to get the correct dept. which turned out to be the solutions dept. who only adjusted my bill, but offered NO solution to the problem. I ever never experienced such a billing nightmare, with a company. If I had another option for internet and phone service in my area, I would have left this company months ago. What happen to good old fashion customer service and company integrity? On a scale of 1 to 10. If I could give 0 stars I would. The technician to set up service showed up early (30 min prior to our scheduled time of 9am) and left before 9am. It was our one day when we were here in Bend to set up internet and instead I spent far too much time on hold with a representative trying (unsuccessfully) to fix their problem. They promised to have a tech here by 7pm, so we had to stick around all day. No surprise, the tech never showed. I called again this morning to see if they could squeeze us in before we head home today. No such luck. I can see why there are all the 1 star reviews. Speed, coverage and all might be fine but their customer service is horrible. So hopefully y'all never have to deal with that end of things if you sign up with this company. read more

This place is AW-FUL! Per the usual 1 star review, I'm giving 1 star because there is no option for zero stars. Interestingly, I haven't shared the same problems as the rest of the reviews here. The Customer Service agents I spoke to weren't in the Phillipines but they still sucked. So many issues here, First - sales people came door to door slamming our local internet provider saying that they don't give dedicated bandwidth, and that they can offer WWAAYY better speeds at a fraction of the cost. So we tried it out. It took forever for our modem to get here, then we couldn't set it up on our own so we had to wait for a technician to come out....between 8am - 12pm on a Saturday and he showed up at like 11:45...typical. So, I started noticing issues right away. Our internet was NOT faster than what we had with our local company. A speed test confirmed that they were running at barely 20% of our previous speeds. I called to cancel and here's what happened: 1. The girl in retention told me I couldn't cancel because my husband's name was the only name on the account, and passed me over to tech support to see if was a "modem issue" 2. Tech support guy told me they don't even offer speeds that match what we were getting with our local company, told me he would send a Fedex Label for us to use instead of printing one out and passed me back to Customer Support 3. Customer Support told me they CAN cancel because I could verify the SSN on the account, canceled our service, and told us we would get a rebate of about $50 sent to us Almost 2 weeks later, no fedex label and no check so I called again. Today Nathan told me that we owe $30, when I got annoyed at all this miscommunication he interrupted me, tried to pass me to financial services, when I told him I wanted to talk to the escalation team he stuck me on hold, and then came back and told me the escalation team wanted to pass me to financial services (Noting that I have to call financial services myself because they can't transfer me...) Finally I got on the phone with the least helpful escalation girl ever, Rickie... who gave zero answers and made zero reparation, other than confirming that not a single department seems to communicate with any other department. The miscommunication about our bill aside, when I told her I still haven't received the Fedex label she told me that tech support doesn't know anything about cancelations so he wouldn't have sent a label. Um ok, can you send one? First she wanted me to print it out myself, no thanks, and then she says, "Ok we'll mail you a physical label. It looks like we already sent one on the 13th, they look like junk mail maybe you missed it" OK SO I'M SORRY, did you just tell me that tech support doesn't know anything about cancelations and so wouldn't have sent a label, and then tell me that you already sent a label and I threw it away???? So I guess we'll see if I ever do get that Fedex label.... Zero customer service whatsoever. Yes, I am angry, and every single one of them matched my exact tone. Customer service 101 - don't take it personal, don't match tone, and don't interrupt. The people in the Phillipines with the other 1 star reviews are probably better at customer service than these losers. If you live in Bend, OR go with Bend Broadband. I would rather pay more and support local business with people who are actually helpful than sell out to another big internet provider where they use greasy sales tactics and there is no accountability and greasy. heading to the BBB from here... read more

Hello I am in Bend Oregon and I am writing this review after today after scheduling to have a service tech come out to upgrade out speeds from a weak 20mbps to 40mbps. Last Tuesday we waited for 4 hours for the tech to arrive which they never did so we called you guys back only to discover the guy who set up the appointment never scheduled it. So we scheduled another appointment for today from 9a to 2pm. Sure enough no one showed up again after we called this morning to confirm and the customer service rep on the phone said someone will be here for sure today. So we called back for the 5th time this week only to find out they cannot upgrade out speeds in this area so the techs didnt show up. Why did it take 5 customer service agents to finally tell us the whole situation. After asking for compensation for wasting 8 hours of our time this week and taking two days off work to wait for the techs you offered a discount on Dish Network TV!!! The last thing I want to do is sign another fricking contract with this terrible company. Awful service and no one knows what is going on. We are cancelling today. Do NOT sign up with this company. Century Link is a joke and on top of it all we are supposed to be getting 20mbps when in reality speed tests show were averaging 7mbps if we are lucky.
