New internet-only account works well most of the day, but commonly drops for an hour or so. Call tech support, wait 45 min on hold before getting a tech support person, work with tech support for 45 min to troubleshoot, tech says nothing more he can do over the phone, so set up service appointment at tech's recommendation, availability more than a week out, schedule appointment for about 10days out, get a 4-hour window when I have to wait at home for their tech (ok, pretty standard), days later receive VM from BendBroadband telling me I need to call their tele-help number to troubleshoot over the phone first or they'll cancel my service appointment. Wha?! I call back, wait on hold for 45 min until a real person answers, make sure they understand I've already spent 45 min troubleshooting over the phone and it's their tech who told me to make a service appointment. Appointment day arrives, I wait at home for tech during the four hour window, 3 1/2 hours in I get a call: we're running an hour late. An hour and a-half later 5 two techs finally arrive. They make some adjustment, say it's all fixed, and in 30 min. they are gone. That's truly noteworthy service. Next-day update: Conducted a speed test of my high-speed BendBroadband service: 0.53 Mbps download, 5.13 Mbps upload. read more

Don't make the mistake of getting TDS. I tried it for one week and there were outages and it was a free trial so I cancelled and closed my account, returned equipment and told I was good to go. But five months later a bill I had never seen before was in collections. What the heck. This company is awful. Prices keep going up. They should go out of business. TDS conducts illegal trade practices. They will offer you a price or service plan and will instead set you up on a different, inferior plan. I've spent countless hours over the last three months calling them and trying to get this resolved, even with them confirming they will but stating that they couldn't that day "because their system was having issues". Three months later and they say they will not change it to the plan we signed up for--that they offered to us and that we agreed to. Bait and switch tactics like this are illegal on a state and federal level. Take all of the negative reviews about TDS seriously. They are scammers, do not care about you, will not honor their word, and will not do the right thing. Avoid TDS all costs, even if their marketed or offered deals sounds good. I was a customer for four years, yet TDS not only raised my rates numerous times, they were eventually charging me $86 per month while simultaneously charging new customers $49 "for life"! When I called to cancel my service, the rep asked me "What are you willing to pay?" Are you serious? Updated review: I ended up speaking with 9 people and spent 3 hrs and 12 minutes on the phone. One employee insisted that the voicemail service was NOT from TDS but rather the answering machine sitting in my kitchen. I asked him then why can I remotely log in to the voicemail using the PIN code I received from TDS? He pointed out that our account was not subscribed to the voicemail feature, so it couldn't be enabled. I assured him that, regardless of what his computer says, the TDS voicemail was answering and taking messages (it's not hard to prove). In the end, I spoke with supervisor Debbie and she was great. She understood there was a problem and, regardless of what her computer may say about the voicemail, she took steps to fix the problem. Was paying $34.99 for 1GB fiber and am now paying $79.99 for cable which has only 20mbs upload (I run my own servers and this has forced me to essentially shut most of them down). The employees are confident but wrong about most things they have told me so far. I was given a modem and was told that there would be no charges for the modem, i am now getting charged for it. When i talked to someone over the phone, they told me i was wrong and that theres always charges. Every employee seems to have a different idea of how things work, they have very poor education on how simple networking works and even their cable installers give out bad info (I was told that because i spoofed my MAC, i would not get full 1gb speed. I was not getting the full 1gb because my router at the time could only process up to around 850mbs, which once upgraded, even with the spoofed MAC, i was able to get the full 1gb). Whoever is managing the call centers and support for TDS needs to educate their workers and have them use "i believe" statements instead of pulling complete trash out of their A$$es and lying to customers and acting completely condecending. Furthermore, which ever complete idiot decided to implement the callbot that can not be skipped to talk to someone quickly, should find another job, possibly something easier on the brain such as flipping hamburgers or sweeping trash. Go with Verizon instead. They are courteous, are most affordable and are starting to cover more service areas in Bend and across the country. We pay a third of what TDS was charging for internet and the internet actually works. TDS stopped working for us back in June and we cancelled as the internet became spotty, just as the price went up. We have paid extra fees, had poor customer service and we expect them to lose any records of cancellations or returns. We expect to call in 5-6 times, or have hour-long wait times with rude upper level staff. Get a receipt from any transaction you do with TDS. It is hard to believe any business could be this incompetent. They try to give the customer the run-around as much as possible to keep the bill going. I called TDS 6 x this August... due to them adding on additional fees or not recognizing the equipment had been returned, even up to 3 weeks after returning it. TDS was fine in New Mexico. In Bend, it is run poorly and the customer absorbs the mistakes. The senior level staff seems to be the problem and supports lower management in not finding solutions and not cancelling when asked to. We have had Internet service with TDS Telecom - even though we live in a city, it's a monopoly provider (telco VDSL is even worse). A TDS sales guy gave us an "upgrade" with a bundled deal, including a service I said I had no use for. He said that didn't matter, I'd still get the deal and it was for 2 years. One year later, without telling us, they raised our monthly Internet price from $70 to $155! And did this just as they replaced their billing system, and we might be delayed in getting our bill. We assumed the initial high price was for more than one month. Nope, they secretly raised the price, contrary to the sales pitch. On their online "My Account" page I could add service with a single click - but to change services or cancel service requires calling. Which took talking to 3 different people over two hours. The hurdles to get out of TDS are high. Some of the worst customer service around for a service that delivers less and costs 2x as much as competitive services elsewhere. read more

Tried going to the main office at the request of the phone support only to find there was an hour long wait time with only a single employee working the counter. Most of the people who came in saw the line and left immediately. When It was finally my turn, the employee said he could see that I was promised a different rate on my account, but said he no longer going to honor it and instead he could save me money if I switch to Verizon first (which was odd). He also told us they accidentally sent another customer's modem to our address that needed to be returned (which was also odd). If the last employee in the office says you would be better off if you switch internet providers you should probably listen. read more

I'm a 72 year old senior. I spent more on my grandkids for Christmas than I should have. I needed to cancel my TV for a couple of months. Tds is closed on Sunday. I went in Monday to close my account. Because of the observance of Martin Luthor King, they were closed again. However, because I didn't close the account on Monday, and because of their "billing cycles", I had to pay a whole extra month for the TV that I am not going to use. I spoke with "customer disservice", and that guys supervisor, and that supervisor's supervisor, and because TDS has a "policy", which basically allows them to steal money, I still have to pay for the extra month. Well, I guess that's what happens when jerks run the place and set up the "policy" Looks like spam sandwiches for a few months. Living in south county of Bend we have only one provider on our street: TDS. This company is the worst internet service I have ever expierennced since dial up days. All week our internet has gone off and on, causing major distruptios to working remotley. We pay $99 a month and now our internet has been out for 4 days. They sent an unscheduled tech to our house on Saturday adn we missed him, as we were not home! Everyone on our street has expierenced the same poor quality of service. We had a horrible customer service experience. My wife set up auto pay. Auto pay for the first 2 1/2 months was delayed in making the payment on time. With the delay, TDS virtually shuts down your internet service until they get your payment . They also charge you a late fee for not paying on time. This practice is like holding you as a hostage or holding a gun to your head until they get their money. They even wanted to charge us a set up fee of $25 to tune our internet back on. 2 different times my wife had battle with customer "NO" service. The people working as representatives were rude and obnoxious. My wife finally had someone take off the late fee's and the set up fee and give us a credit of $15 for lost time of internet usage. Unfortunately , TDS is basically the "best" (worst) option we have. I'm hoping T-moblie will come to our area and give us the option of using the service. read more

We reset the NEW router multiple times a week...which temporarily fixes the issue. Literally, any option other than TDS would be recommended. Wish I could give zero stars. This TDS platform is by far the worst. These POS wireless cable boxes constantly want me to press OK on the remote just to continue watching. If you are not fast, the whole damn thing shuts down and will not immediately come back on. Every time I have to unplug the power, then it does its reboot process. 4-5 minutes later it comes on and I've missed what I was watching. I'm done calling Customer Service. Totally unreliable service. Cannot stream any programming because of slow speeds - even though I'm paying for 100 Mbs. Every streaming program spends way too much time buffering. I suspect the issue is with TDS main switches or trunk lines, and they just won't address these problems. If there were any other service available where I live I'd take it. read more

Repeated lousy customer service experiences. I requested 2-3 times to get paper invoices for monthly service. Each phone interaction assured me I would; I never received a paper invoice. Every time I would call customer service I was connected to a person on the other side of the planet who spoke poor english, adding to my frustration. Lastly, while traveling a few times I was unable to log into my account and again called customer service. The log-in function on then TDS website was trying to verify my identify by phone call or text to a phone number disconnected four years earlier. This happened 2-3 times while traveling. Each time I called in to customer service to have my number updated I was assured that it was corrected. It was never corrected. Bottom line: TDS wants your money and could care less about your concerns. Typical of gigantic corporations. I fired them and will be establishing new business with a different internet carrier. My service has been down for two months. TDS requires me to call for updates. TDS requires me to call and apply for refunds for serice that they are aware is down. TDS does not provide updates as to when service will be restored. Nothing I write here is an exaggeration. Just facts. Internally TDS cannot even manage their workers who service the physical network. I have two service addresses. Once they sent the field service guy to replace the network feed from the street to the house. Only problem is they came to the wrong service address to perform the work. TDS cannot manage their customer data and customer. If you are speaking with Billing or Sales dept, their systems indicates that your services are up and running, if your account is paid and current. However if you speak to Tech Support, they have visibility into the network and can see that your service is not running. The info the rep has can differ depending on who you are talking to. The rep will usually not inform you of their role if they are not tech support. TDS is sucking all of the region's (customer's) money out of the Central Oregon region while providing service that is a mere shadow of the previous Bend Cable operation. Mega corporations rule. Previous owners got their big pay day. They left us with a coprorate sh*t show. read more

Wish there were negative stars to award. When my bill went up nearly $40 in one month, I decided to cancel my Tv services. The following month, I received the same bill and when I called customer service (there's a misnomer) I was told that since I had already been billed when I cancelled, it was too late to bill me with the new charges; they don't prorate. You must cancel before the billing cycle which I would have done if I had known about the rate increase, so I had to pay for two months at the higher rate! The people that work at the Bend office are impolite and the lines are usually long but they have a monopoly in central oregon which is why they probably act the way that they do. read more
