UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! The sisters from a Royal Oak Nail Salon have gone out on their own and I have found my new salon. Naomi, Kim and the crew are cleaning and brightening this previously tired shop. I received a great pedicure, Naomi took her time to work through my particular issues and I feel fantastic. I also had a dip manicure and it was applied beautifully and thinly making the nails look natural. No RO parking meters and plenty of parking in the back as well as the front. Entered the premises and everything looked very clean and well-kept there was a decent amount of people in there and their sign in sheet definitely was well used today. Was greeted promptly upon my entrance and asked what services I wanted and was asked several follow-up questions to ensure that what I wanted was correct. Signed in and I only waited for about five minutes before a pedicure chair was ready and waiting for me. Water temperature was absolutely amazing and it smelled great! The woman who was doing my pedicure was very skilled with what she does and asked several questions about my feet prior to touching them in case I had any conditions or worries that she needed to know about. The woman doing my pedicure was extremely thorough and went back several times to make sure that she had everything right before she even started painting. During this she asked several times to make sure that I wasn't in any pain and that things were to my liking. The hot stone massage was to die for as well as the sugar scrub. In Addition to this there was even a hot towel massage portion which felt amazing. Before she ended up putting any paint on my toes she made sure to ask twice to confirm that She had the right color. Even though the base coat for the color I wanted was a little dry and she couldn't use it she was very precise in picking another base coat that was extremely similar. She even made sure to change the towel that I had my feet on because it was a little wet from getting my feet rinsed off and she literally held my feet up and I didn't have to lift them myself. That is well above and beyond many other nail salons I have been to and I highly commend TD nails on this. She was very timely in how she did my nails yet still managed to make sure that she had every portion of my nail covered and that there were no spots without color and that it didn't run off onto my skin. After she got the gel on my toes she made sure to put everything under the UV lamp for the full amount of time and didn't skip seconds to make sure that everything did cure properly. After all of the polish was on she even went back over and removed any excess nail polish that was around my toes that she didn't get the first time and filed any rough edges which I have never had done at any nail salon and I was quite surprised and impressed that it happened. After that she used softening solution to massage my feet and my legs one last time before I was out the door. I would highly recommend TD nails to anyone who is looking for quality service in a very timely manner they go above and beyond other nail salons and I was highly impressed and will probably never go to another nail salon unless Td nails is closed read more

I don't really take care of my fingernails, but the toes are an entirely different matter. And this is one of my favorite spots to keep my feet maintained and looking pretty. Having read some of the other reviews, I was expecting this place to be dirty and that I would leave bleeding. I'm happy to report that I have experienced NONE of that. The pedicures are fabulous, and the lady I normally get really does an excellent job massaging my legs. The hot stones and the hot towels are a nice feature as well. read more

Oh, TD Nails, what happened to you? The fresh-faced nail salon on Woodward is starting to show its age, like a reality TV star. The shiny veneer comes off as brittle now, and the former spotlessness has declined to a rather worrisome low. I've spotted uncleaned instruments and dirty stations, pedicure foot baths with scum rings, and the general disorder at the front which puts me off. I don't exactly require surgical cleaning standards at a nail salon, but attention to hygiene wins major points in my book. My past three experiences have embittered me to one of the few salons conveniently placed on the Woodward corridor without driving all the way in to Clawson for my steady nail parlour partner. For waxing, skip TD and move straight on to a proper hair removal studio or day spa. TD Nails uses the standard mini-crockpot of wax bubbling all day long, and they dip and reuse wooden sticks to apply the wax. I'm disgusted whenever I see the same stick used twice, especially in a communal pot of bacteria and bodily goo that touched who knows how many other Detroiters before I got there. They sat me in an office chair and performed one of the worst eyebrow waxes I've had since California Nails, grossly thinning out the end of my right brow by leaving an uncomfortably bare patch. My brows are black and very defined in their arch, so there's no reason for this disaster. Finding a nail technician able to work on you without a 45 minute wait any time after 4PM takes an act of God or a pre-arranged appointment. The employees wing a guess at the wait time. I've been told "15 minutes," only to sit there for 45 because a string of clients showed up with appointments and bumped me back. What? If you cannot accommodate me because you have scheduled clients, tell me up front. There never seem to be enough technicians, and the work they perform is lacklustre. My acrylic tips break, the pedicures are slow and sloppy, and I can never get out of there in under two hours. I'm not a rushed girl but why on earth does a pedi take 85 minutes? That doesn't count the unreasonable wait time as stuck up Birmingham moms with their 8 year olds sail in, stare down their noses, and announce "I have an appointment" to all and sundry. That's nice, but I'm keeping my business with Clawson's gem, thanks. There is a finer studio in town and you are not it, TD. NOTE: Use an appointment, as drop-ins wait a very long time, and all appointments bump people waiting in the cramped lobby down the totem pole. read more

So much better than you'd expect. I'm always skeptical about getting pedicures at anywhere other than a high end salon, but this place was fantastic. I watched them clean the other chairs, and they really do a good job keeping the place clean :) The pedicure itself was quite nice. They really take their time, and I felt way more pampered than I expected. My feet are definitely summer ready now! I also decided to splurge for a manicure and an eyebrow wax, because, well, why not? Best part? All of this was $48. Seriously. Manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax, under $50. Magic. read more

I went here bi-weekly when I lived in Royal Oak (it's at Catalpa and Woodward), and even though I've moved, I always find myself coming back. The prices are reasonable, and besides a full nail service, they also offer microdermabrasion and waxing. They have the massage chairs for the pedicures, and they keep their utensils and basins very clean. read more

Horrible experience, and super painful. I went on Sunday 1-19-14, for pedi, mani and wax, the pedi was ok, the fill in she cut 4 of my fingers and my wax, the lady burn me cut me and did not say anything to me until I saw myself in the mirror. By the way they charge me. At this present time my face is with scabs, can't barely open my mouth therefore, eating is really painful. Honestly, I left a tip cause I thought the lady might need the money later on as I think she sucks plus do not speak any English. Further, she thought it was funny. There was another girl that took the matter serious and try to comfort by applying Vaseline. Damage is done, I will never return to this place again plus I'm telling all my friends of this horrible and traumatic experience. Please think twice when stoping by this place. read more

This used to be my favorite nail salon, but I'm not sure what's happened. This week I received a shellac manicure that was a painful experience as opposed to relaxing. My cuticle was cut so bad on my pinky that it wouldn't stop bleeding. She actually polished my blood onto the nail and didn't understand why I was complaining. I had to have someone else come over to point out why I wanted to have the nail redone. At this point, I'm concerned about their sanitation policies. I'm not sure what happened with the cuticle clippers or polish they used on me after I left. It looks like I'll be going somewhere else moving forward which is too bad because I can walk to this location. read more

I used to go to this nail salon when I was in high school and thought it was awesome. I recently went back right before my bridal shower to get my nails done and the person doing my nails cut me so bad! My finger wouldn't stop bleeding and she put nail glue on it to stop the bleeding. And then she tried to charge me for my manicure! Even with my thumb bleeding, the manicure looked horrible. The polish didn't cover my nail and was very sloppy. I will not be going back. read more

Literally the worst experience ever. I have given this salon a few tries out of desperation and their Sunday hours. Today takes the cake. I needed a fill and signed in as such. I also get the shellac on top. The tech (who is the owner - her station is at the front desk) soaks my nails with acetone and it disintegrates the gel. She tries to tell me that I should have told her a fill. I said that is exactly what I signed up for and I was confused as to how she didn't know I had gel nails when I sat down as it is fairly obvious.Then after she filled them, it looked as though it hadn't even been filled, and I had to argue with her to get a complete fill. My daughter, a friend and I went for two manicures and a pedicure. We were not greeted warmly, and the chatter in a foreign language between the 3 techs didn't help us feel comfortable either. My daughter accidentally dropped her chosen nail polish and it cracked and shattered all over the floor. She felt terrible and apologized several times. The man doing her pedi never acknowledged her. He cleaned up the mess without a word. During her pedi he cut her toe. He never said he was sorry. He also complained that he had glass in his shoe, which seems impossible since he cleaned it up wearing shoes and socks. When we left no one said goodbye or thank you. My mani is now chipping less than 48 hours later, and my daughter's toe hurts. Don't think I'm going back. read more

And so I take myself to TD, where I immediately fall into a massage chair, roll up my pants, and put my giant feet in some bubbly water. They take care of the rest. This is a pretty great place to get your nails done. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, they have a decent selection of colors and they offer a pretty wide array of services, including Shellac manicures and eyebrow waxing. They can be a little bit slow (a mani/pedi usually takes about an hour) and sometimes you will have to wait, but it is worth it. The place is clean and they do a really nice job. Plus, when you get a pedicure, they now give you a little massage with hot stones and then wrap your legs in hot towels. So relaxing! read more

Very unhappy with TD nails. I have come occasionally to this salon due to the fact they open early in the day which is a convenience. However, I will not return. I booked an appointment for 2 people for a mani-pedi and explained that it was necessary (from a time perspective) that both appointments occur at the same time. I was assured this was 'no problem'. It was clear when we arrived the salon was understaffed. After waiting 15 minutes, we made the error of allowing them to start working on my friend - while I sat with my feet in water for another 15 minutes. I could see it would be at least 30 minutes before anyone started with me. In fact, when one of the manicurists finished with the pedicure in the chair next to me, he moved on to a new arrival (who came into the salon after me), completely ignoring me. In addition, they rushed through my friend's pedicure, doing a terrible job. The woman was working so fast, she gouged the skin under her toe nails, it bled and was quite painful for her. Completely unacceptable. I pulled my feet out of the water and walked out, returning only to pick up my friend when she was done. I understand, as a walk in, I might have to wait. What is not acceptable is to make an appointment, and still be expected to wait an hour for a service that can be obtained an many other salons. In addition, everyone who was having their nails done that afternoon clearly received a 'rush' job. As I walked out, the lead manicurist did apologize, but offered no discount or anything else for the inconvenience. I went to a different salon then next day and had a lovely experience. read more

The place was clean and they greeted me when walking into the door, but once I sat down the lady began to talk on the phone. Really?? So for the hour and a half I there the lady was talking on the phone in Chinese...Once she was done she got off the phone and walked out. She barely said hello, and didnt do a very good job. My nails were crooked, she rounded them off (I like them square), and she was rude. I went to TD Nails because it was covenant, but next time Ill go to my usual place on 8 mile where its cheaper and the guys do a fantastic job. read more

This small shop is run incredibly cleanly and politely. Appointment times are carefully respected, although walkins are probably more common. I have frequently been graciously "touched up" after messing up a nail before (and sometimes after) leaving. I have seem some very rude customer behavior (possibly the mother-daughter reviewers above?) who were courteously tolerated, even after throwing a glass nail polish bottle in a tantrum to shatter on the floor. The baths and equipment are meticulously cleaned before the tech even steps away, and all tools strictly sanitized. I love this place and am so happy it's my regular and available go-to nail salon. read more

Not sure why I'm leaving this review as it seems no one at the salon actually checks the comments. However, I went to this place exactly 6 days ago to get a powder dip mani. Usually these last at least 2 weeks. This time was a totally different experience. Every time I've had a dip mani they always finish with the UV lights to set the polish. This time they finished off with just a top coat and had me hold my hands in front of a fan for a few mins. Skip to the day after, my nails are snagging on all my clothes, nails are coming off on edges, it's embarrassing. When I asked about the UV machine, they told me that only "cheap" salons do that. Well, I guess I'll continue with my "cheap" salons since they do a WAY better job for half the time and price. Also, I was there for an hour and 45 mins. Usually it takes 45 mins TOPS for my dip. Waited 10 to 15 minutes to get back in a chair....okay but once we got there we sat for an hour.. looking over I see the woman who was there before us still waiting..but a woman who came in after us gets her toes done and nails started..and when I said something about it she said oh I called..well so did my mom.. the customer service was horrible.
