Filthy and unprofessional! Got a fungus from this place. The girl seemed annoyed she had to do my nails. Minimal effort on filing, shaping and cutting my cuticles. They do not run on time. If you make an appointment, don't expect it to be on time. I had the first appointment of the day for a pedicure, thinking that was the safest way to make sure everything was on time when I have a busy work schedule, yet none of the workers were on time and this delayed my appointment by over 20 minutes. I am obsessed with this nail salon! I have been coming consistently ever since I discovered this place. I always get a shellac mani pedi for $35. I come in as a walk-in every time. I never have to wait more than 10 minutes for a nail technician to help me. I've had a different nail technician each time & all of them have been talented. I love this place because they offer a bunch of color options. Each time, my nails have lasted at least 2 weeks. My shellac manis have consisted of taking off my pervious polish, cutting my cuticles, shaping my nails, putting new polish, & a quick oil massage to finish. read more

For the first time got nail fungus after having the dip nails done (nails turned green.) They started chipping after a week. I went in today excited to get my toes and nails done the last time I was here. I had a bad experience and believe me I'm not picky so for me to have a bad experience it's bad. I was there approximately 1 pm. I went in without an appointment and waited 45 minutes, and ended up having the same young lady that I had before. Only she was worse I have hangnails. None of the polish is on the sides of my nails and it's chipping. I am so thoroughly disappointed and I should have my money returned for this awful job! I got a dip polish change for $50.00. The next day, 2 of my fingers chipped. I didn't go back due to time and 1 week later most of my nails are chipping. I have had dip for years and never had this problem. Maybe the coats were too thin? I don't think she coated my nails well and therefore the powder didn't adhere well. First impressions walking in the door was that this salon is well cared for and clean! No overwhelming "nail shop smell", beautiful decor, and a friendly greeting all met me at the door. I got a dip powder manicure, my usual. Being new to the area I've been trying to find a shop that could do dip and shaping well...folks, I found it! Anna (sp?) was AWESOME! She nailed the shape, the dip application is near flawless, and she was so gentle with my natural nails! I paid $80 total, $70 for the service and $10 for the tip. My first visit was great I had a mani and pedi and it was perfect. The second time I visited was on a Wednesday, I got a dazzle dry manicure which is supposed to last about 2 weeks... it lasted maybe 2 days before it started chipping so I called on Saturday to report the problem... they were busy and told me they could not fit me in that day but to come in another day and they would fix the nails. I went in on the following Tuesday and the girl who did my original manicure was not there so instead of redoing my nails, a technician just added another coat of color and top coat making my nails bumpy and the color uneven and sheer in spots. When I told them it was uneven (because of the chipped nails) they disagreed and said they were good but told me to come back tomorrow that the girl who did them originally could fix them the next day. Well I don't have time to keep going back to the salon and I think it ridiculous to ask a customer who had received subpar service to come back because they couldn't be bothered to fix them because they were not the original technician. read more

I popped into Birmingham Nails last week on a whim and I was very happy with my experience. I was given a reasonable AND accurate estimate for how long I'd need to wait (that almost never happens elsewhere!) and they got me in and out quickly. There were tons of Shellac color choices which was awesome because I have been getting bored of the more limited selections at my "home" salon. Prices were fair and I was given the option to tip via Venmo when I realized I didn't have any cash. The only downside (not for me personally, but for a few walkins I noticed who turned around and walked out) is that they do not offer any kind of acrylic nail services and they don't have any powered tools. I also noticed that they are no longer open on Sundays which is generally when I like to go, but I will definitely be back if I'm in need of a nail salon next time I'm in the area when they're open! read more

I live half a mile from Birmingham Nails, so it's convenient. It is a no frills salon that does a good job. I get powder dip, which I've gotten for years now at various salons since I've moved quite a bit. I pay $10 more here than I would at a salon outside of Birmingham. And if I have a nail that breaks enough that I need a tip, I am charged $5 - $10 additional for one to a few of them. They have a good selection of colors and the techs are all proficient at what they do. Some are more friendly than others. All in all you're getting a reasonably quality product at higher than normal prices in a non-stuffy environment compared to some other local establishments. I'm not crazy about this place, but not dissatisfied either. read more

Found this place on Yelp, awesome recommendation! Came to this place with my aunt as a reward to ourselves after completing the Detroit half marathon. We made reservations for 6:30. Walked in early, they asked us to pick our colors and boom they took us at the same time! This is a first, typically you make the appointment with a friend and sometimes you're either waiting awhile, one is taken back before the other or whatever, but that didn't happen here. We had two very friendly nail techs giving us amazing pedicures!, in their amazing massage chairs which was an awesome reward because I am in pain from yesterday's run! Great way to end my trip here in Michigan with some awesome bonding and pedicures with my aunt! Highly recommend, tons of colors to choose from! Oh most important thing I loved was that they use plastic covers on their bowls making sure they're sterile and clean! read more

I had been a loyal Birmingham Nails customer for four years, but I've finally had enough. Their customer service skills are the worst I've ever experienced and their quality/care has gone down over the years. On several occasions I had made an appointment to find out an hour before my appointment that the nail tech just decided to leave early. Additionally, when you call, they practically scream your ear off as they shout across the room to see if someone is available at a certain time. Apparently they've never heard of putting someone on hold or even mute. Even with an appointment, I've had to wait for over a half hour with no apologies. Finally, what really put the NAIL in the coffin was the service I received during my last visit. My mani/pedi was done so sloppy and the whole appointment was rushed, taking only 45 minutes (which included the time it took for the nail tech to re-do the 2 worst nails). Birmingham Nails acts like they're doing you a favor by providing a service, which is absolutely ridiculous. Ill be taking my business elsewhere from here on out. read more

This is *my* place to go for nails. I rarely go anywhere else. They're always open for same-day walk-ins (although, like anywhere, you may have to wait a while on a busy day, like Saturday afternoon). $40 for a mani-pedi, and $32 for youth mani-pedi. I have no complaints about the work - no matter who I see. The salon is clean and I love that they're open on Sundays. Parking is available in a small lot to the side of the salon, or there is also metered parking on the street. read more

No, you wouldn't get 5 star service or a 5 star mani/pedi but you will get a good one for the price. The girls are always smiling and joking. Yes, some are better at their job than others but I will not share who, overall, they're all great. It's a clean place where one usually does not have to wait as a walk in. No same day appointments. If you want warm towels and extra scrub on the pedi you will have to pay. Pedi is $25, mani $15, and polish change is $7. My favorite polishes are "Mod About You" and "Spaghetti Strap." read more

This place is cramped and disorganized. They also misled my friend when she made an appointment for myself and three of our friends for a bachelorette party. They told us they would have 4 pedicure chairs together for us, and when we got there, the entire place was full and they were not even close to being on time. In fact, I'm not sure they remembered our reservation at all, but they pretended they did. I can't speak to the quality of their work, because we left and went to Instyle Nail Lounge in Troy instead. The best nail salon I have ever been to! I was surprised at the amount to staffing they had on a Sunday. It was pretty busy and everyone was helped quickly. At other places my 2 friends and I have been split up when arriving for pedicures together that unfortunately ruined our "girls day." After reading great reviews we scheduled an appointment here to ensure we'd get helped together. Someone then rudely came up to me and said it would be another 30 minutes after I'd been there for 50 minutes. Who runs a busIness this way?! The woman doing my mom's nails left partway through and she had to wait almost 30 minutes to get her manicure done (after pedi) with someone else. I have been a loyal customer going to Birmingham Nails every 2 weeks for 4 years. Tony the owner and the nail technicians typically have always been professional, warm, and do a wonderful job. Unfortunately they have been hit hard by COVID and lack employees showing up to work like the rest of the world. Even if you make an appointment by calling several weeks in advance and a loyal customer they do not honor the appointment and do not call to cancel the appointment. When approaching them about the appointment issue which has been experienced several times I was yelled at by both Tony and several nail technicians that general appointments are not given priority that you need to make an appointment directly with the tech. They did this in front of everyone in the store which was extremely unprofessional and embarrassing. I would never go back and am very disappointment in the unprofessional behavior. If you try the salon out make sure you get the nail techs name and number and text/call them directly to make an appointment. DO NOT CALL THE STORE AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT or beware of having to wait and hour and/or being yelled at in front of everyone in the store. Good luck... read more
