    Splotchy and not professional looking

I followed Angel from Jolie Nails in Clawson, and have always appreciated his customer service... but I was disappointed at my last visit. I wanted sheer/jelly pink, and this milky pink was the closest they had. The color is splotchy on my toes, and somehow a $35 pedicure with a 20% tip cost $55. I immediately left and went to buy myself the color I wanted and changed my polish myself.

Angel nails is my favorite place to go for manicures and pedicures! I have done shellac manicures and shellac pedicures here as well as a full gel set and fill-in with great results every time. I have had Orsela do my hands and Angel do my pedicures. Today I actually did a shellac manicure on my natural nails instead of a gel set so Angel did it himself. Everyone here is so kind and also detail oriented I always have a great experience. I also feel like the prices are reasonable and it's a nice relaxing atmosphere. If you haven't had a man do your pedicure before, then I highly recommend it. Angel does such a great job!

So disappointed with how my nails turned out. I'm standing up in a wedding this weekend and just wanted simple white French tips on my toes and nails. I got a pedicure and asked for an acrylic full set. I showed her pictures of what I wanted. The pedicure went fine until I went home and closely looked at my toe nails. They were a mess. My nails were horrible. She did nothing I asked. Ended up doing gel instead of acrylic and then charged me more without even letting me know the price difference. She was done and they weren't even French tips. I asked her to fix them and she made a big deal about how much work it would be. Then she tried to fix them and they just were not what I wanted at all. I had to go home and try to fix them myself, I will never ever come back here.

Time for a little story...I stopped for an ice cream on the way home from work and noticed Angel's. I thought, "Ya know, why not get a quick manicure to look nice for Easter?" I stopped in around 4:45 and asked to come back at 5:30 (I wanted to let the dog out and finish my giant ice cream cone in peace). They convinced me to stay saying that it would get "very busy" by then. So I stay, scarfing my ice cream down before she's finished prepping my right hand. The manicure itself was subpar - she did not clean under my nails at all and the shape was just okay. But no worries, I just wanted a quick in-and-out fix-up with some polish. Everything was fine until the second coat of polish. I noticed she was putting it on quite thickly and then she applied the top coat...also pretty thick. Sure enough, as it's starting to dry, the paint starts creasing and bubbling. The nail tech blamed me for putting my nails too close to the fan. I've been getting my nails done for 25 years and unless you an industrial level fan, like the one they use after floods, it is not going to BLOW your nail polish off. The nail tech was also "cleaning" the edges with her own nail, oftentimes messing up the polish and having to apply MORE top coat which I knew was going to be a disaster. Then she gave my pinky 3 coats so it was more opaque then the rest of my nails. Phew. Anyways. We're done now and she has fixed the wind-blown nails and I'm drying under the actual nail dryer. Sure enough, same thing happens. Now the owner says that it "must be the fan." Are you kidding me? LOL. They take me back to the chair and the tech applies...you guessed it...MORE TOP COAT. I'm thinking I will just leave and can't wait to go when...wait... I look and ALL my nails have this weird dull finish. I think she accidentally put primer on instead of a top coat. (By the way, it's now 5:30 and it's literally no busier, maybe less busier, than when I got there). At this point, the owner comes over again and I ask for them to remove the polish and give me a refund. My nails were a mess. (I honestly think the tech was in training or maybe a daughter filling in for the day). The owner says, "Can you come back tomorrow?" I appreciate the offer but for real?! I insisted on a refund so the owner goes to the drawer and gives me $25 in cash. As I'm sitting getting the polish taken off, she decides to go and void the transaction, showing me the receipt and snatching the cash off my lap. Amazing. Moral of the story...never take a chance on an unknown nail salon while indulging in a Dole Whip. But do get the ice cream, go home, apply press-on nails, and feel fantastic.

Salon itself was ok, nothing fancy. I had the pedicure and shellac done. Pedicure felt a little rushed. Shellac was ok until I left. I noticed a lot of bumps in the polish and then to make it worse, the top coat turned completely green the next day! I didn't have time to go back during the week, so I had to go all week with my nails that way. Probably won't be returning. Also, just a side note, they do not accept tips on credit card, so bring cash.

If you're looking for an amazing pedicure visit Luma at Angel Nails in Birmingham. She gives the BEST leg/foot massage and uses hot rocks and towels every time. I found Elona's shop when I moved over here, she does my mani's, and won't go anywhere else.

This is the only salon I am comfortable with. I'm never disappointed when I come here. Now that Elon's has some new nail techs it's even better

the lady i had was an older asian lady, she as very rude and bothered. i would barely move and she would yell don't move and then i showed her a picture of the color i wanted to do, and she goes "oo ugly". like i'm paying YOU to do MY nails. if i ask for a color i want it done and not a rude response in return.

Updated: Management…read morereached out to me after seeing my reviews and provided a compromise. We came to an agreement. I am grateful they were responsive and willing to talk and even reconsider some parts of their policy. I am updating my review to reflect this update. 12/12/2025 I used to be a regular at this nail shop and this review does not reflect the nail techs, they are always nice. Unfortunately their lack of flexibility with their cancellation policy, particularly for long standing customers that have had multiple appointments is frustrating. I had to cancel my appointment same day due to an emergency and was immediately directed to the policy and given a cold shoulder when asked about rescheduling. After sending them a follow up message via their very active social media asking if there is anything they can do, my message was read and ignored and I was charged the full fee for my appointment despite their policy noting you COULD BE charged the full amount. You would think there would be a willingness to have a conversation or a professional courtesy to at least respond to a message you read. Given my numerous appointments (at least once every 1-2 months for the last two, maybe three years) and an obvious willingness to reschedule, a conversation could be had. I have referred friends and family here and it is unfortunate that the long standing relationship has to end because of their lack of warmth with customers. I get it, missing an appointment causes missed funds for the techs but if its a first offense or a long standing customer, you should value maintaining that relationship and business over a one time offense.

We usually do walk ins and they have never been bothered by us but again they were busy when we came in and I not only had my daughter but the new baby and their grandfather who wanted to see how it all worked. Bad on my part so far- when we entered they saw us and were visibly annoyed- I felt awful but my daughter had been looking forward to this all week(I honestly should have left and came back when it wasn't busy) but we asked if they could do a walk in and I apologized- the lady looked around and then started helping another customer pick out nail polish- we waited patiently for about 5 min- standing there our group looking ashamed- the ladies that the worker was helping asked her to please help us first and she said no- something like we were fine(standing there with baby 3 year old and grandfather) after the ladies left they said it would be a minute- so they could take a walk in- we sat down and I felt even more embarrassed that we were just standing there. They quickly took my daughter back and she got her nails done as the baby laughed and giggled- but his laughs were too loud and I tried to get him to stop laughing but he wouldn't. My 3 year old sits quietly and knows to listen to the staff- when we go to pay they even touch up a little smudge she makes on her thumb. I can tell the nail tech that did her nails liked working with her she was smiling and happily helped- called my daughter honey/ sweetheart. When I went to pay a different woman checked me out and was visibly disgusted that I wasn't paying in cash-after I pulled out my car- in an obviously an annoyed voice she said can't you just pay in cash? It's just $10? I apologized again and she reluctantly took my card- I asked for the nail tech Venmo and tipped her $10 for the trouble. They were nice to my daughter but I felt they were unwelcoming to the rest of my party who was obviously sorry for inconvenience. Please if you come here make an appointment/call do not bring other guests they have limited seating and you have to pay in cash- I think the charge they have to pay for running a card is large and they don't want that- or it's a tax thing? Just try and be as low stress as possibly because these ladies can't accommodate everything. So sorry again- won't happen again

I then asked if someone had time to just soak off my gelx. It took an entire hour because three different techs came back and forth to keep checking on me to soak them off.
