Disappointed. Brought my daughter and 2 friends. The girls are very sweet, quiet and reserved. One girl was given a full manicure with appropriate steps, the others were given basically a polish change. Yes, I paid for full services for all 3. One was treated as though she was an inconvenience. The girls did not speak loudly, have their phones out or act in any way other than totally respectable. Love this place! So clean, modern, and friendly. My go to manicurist is the manager there who gives me the best natural nails mani. I pay extra for the organic polish that's less toxic and it lasts 2 weeks solid! They're conveniently located and easy to book and appointment with. I came here for my first time today after seeing this place had a high star rating, and was close to Somerset. I will never return. I arrived at 5:25-5:30pm. Wasn't greeted until I asked for shellac polish choices around 6pm and had to ask them to grab them for me twice. I then was led to a pedicure seat and didn't have someone even come fill the water in the tub until 6:30ish. My pedicure was very quick and minimal for the high price. It seemed like an inconvenience to them when I asked if they had the matching color for regular polish that I chose for my hands in shellac. After my pedicure I waited from about 7-7:30pm for someone to do my shellac manicure. The woman that seemed to be in charge finally came over to me and said "Your nails look fine I'm only doing a polish change, no manicure. I'm understaffed." Very rude when I've been here for 2 hours with no mention of long wait, them being understaffed, and me not being able to get what I came for. She did an awful job on the manicure and unfortunately I won't have time to get them redone before I leave for my vacation tomorrow. *see attached photos* When being charged they wouldn't tell me the cost until after I had been charged. $58 total for a shellac polish change and basic pedicure. Very expensive for what I got. I finally left the location around 8pm. I will not be returning. read more

Been going to instyle nail lounge for 7 years, I love how they always get my nails just right! Never an issue, always courteous and honest. SUPER CLEAN, products used are always cleaned and sanitized, lots of polish colors available or they will mix colors to get the color needed if when I show them a picture. After reading reviews and being unfamiliar with the area (on vacation), I decided on InStyle. I didn't have an appointment and was greeted warmly and was promptly sat in front of a gentlemen who was very kind. I asked for a full acrylic set with a coffin shape. What I received was a full acrylic set with an uneven almond shape. My tech was rushed and ended up leaving before he finished and someone else painted my nails while telling me that they weren't actually acrylic because they think "gel is better". I, of course, was charged for this opinion as gel is more expensive than acrylic. Additionally, each nail is overly thick, totally uneven and they're not uniform. The color has also changed over the last week. I'm so disappointed. Needless to say, I've gotten them fixed elsewhere. What a waste of time and money. read more

Re-do - review ------------------------ After having a not great experience - Laura - the manager went above & beyond to get me back in - so she could personally redo my pedi. And I am happy I did. It looks great - it was a much better experience all around. And I have adjusted my rating. It seems they have become so busy I think the really awesome technician's have booked up w reg clients. I go here on Saturdays and I think they do a good job. The store does not have the awful and strong manicure smell which is why I come here. However, the most recent visit was a week day and I got a new person I never got before. She dug under my toe nails so much, it hurt any time my nails or toes were pushed on, or rubbed across my bed when sleeping. I was really afraid of a possible infection but I'm so glad after a week I think it is okay now. read more

I have stopped in a couple times to this salon without any problems but today was disappointing. The good things about my visit was I was a walk in and seated right away for a pedicure. I did not get the man's name doing it but I would never want him again. My toe nails were getting long and unshaped so I knew he would need to clip them which I was fine with. However, he cut them so short and then filed them down on top of it where my skin felt cut and raw and it then burned when the products/sprays were used during the rest of the pedicure. My shellac manicure was done by someone else and she did a great job. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one. A salon experience should always be relaxing not painful! read more

I love getting my nails done here, they have such a large variety of dip powder selections, and they usually last about 3-4 weeks. They're pricier compared to the shellac but definitely worth the difference. They're healthier to your nails. People are always surprise that my nails are real. read more

I came here for a regular acrylic set with white tip!!! I called and checked with them for the price to which they said that it's $30 and for a white tip they will take an extra $5 which was fine. When I came by I was attended by Crystal who tried convincing me to get gel nails instead and get a French shellac on top! Well.., I knew wot I wanted so anyways I asked her wot I wanted. While getting my nails done she said that just in case I wanted long nails it will be an extra $5 like seriously, and also if I wanted a shape other than regular square or oval shape of nails it will be an extra $5. Moving forward.. she did my nails by applying the tip and powder and applied a top coat (regular nail polish) that's it !!! No gel sealer..! To which she said oh gel sealer will cost you an extra $5. First time back at Instyle in awhile. I had stopped going there after inconsistent service and found Eco Nails to be my new go to pedicure spot. However, I wasn't able to get an appointment at either Eco Nails location this week and needed a pedicure. So I called Instyle and was able to get a same day appointment. Pros for quick and easy scheduling. When I walked in I noticed things had changed. Gone were the super friendly employees who used to greet you and offer you coffee and water, instead I was greeted with radio silence. I signed in and sat down and waited my turn. No one really ever acknowledged me until I got up to use the bathroom. The back hall is now littered with supplies in an area that really used to be spotless and super clean. My pedicure was good but not great. My technician actually forgot to do the massage and had already started applying base coat when she realized and had to stop. The massage was like 3 seconds long so that's disappointing because it's the best part. But my color looks great and my nails are cleaned up and shaped nicely. I will definitely stick to my usual place but this is an okay backup plan. read more

It's literally down the street from my office so it was no time getting here. The only issue I had was the lack of service. I sat around for about 10 minutes before someone said anything to me. Usually in a shop someone asks what service you want, the amount of time it will be before someone sees you, but not here. Other than that, this place is perfect. I just moved out to Ann Arbor unfortunately but I could justify driving the distance to get my nails and hair done here (in Troy) on the same day. First time there. I asked for a full set of gel nails with shellac color. They said they have a technique that combines the two - colored gel. I agreed to it. The technique was okay, although now I wonder what I have to do if I want to change the color. However, the nails were too thick and looked phony. I tried to tell that to my technician, but she insisted that they were supposed to look that way. I probably should have asked for the manager because I was not pleased with the results, but I was running late. may try them again but with a different tech. Update: 6/12/18 I want to get color change so I called the salon today. I was told that to get a color change it would cost $45. They have to soak them off and start all over. They didn't tell me this before or I would not have gotten the color gel. I will NOT return to this salon. read more

Well... this was my first time coming to this nail salon and probably my last. I gave one star just because the girl that did my manicure was really nice and did exactly what I asked so I will give her that. However, after she was done with my manicure she said someone else would be doing my pedicure because she had to leave, I wanted to make sure I gave her a tip before she left so I did then she basically pressured me to pay before anyone even started my pedicure and didn't even tell me the price, just ran my card. The young lady that did my pedicure was also nice but I told her beforehand that my two big toes were hurting because of some ingrown's, she never said anything about not being able to pull the out properly so she just went at it. She did not do a great job and made me bleed, even when I pulled my foot away for her to stop. It's been a few days now and my toe is in so much pain that I can't even walk straight or wear proper closed toed shoes. I believe I now have an infection because there was puss coming out and it was red all around. The owner came out and looked at my toe and said you can come back in a couple days if it still hurts and I'll try to pull the rest of your ingrown out. I'll most likely not be going back. I'm so bummed. I went here today because it's close to work. I wasn't greeted (which no big deal) and I sat down. I asked the girl her name and she couldn't answer me. I asked for dips and she caused my cuticle to bleed. Which okay, accidents happen I totally get that. But then when she put the top layer on, it was clumpy and there were multiple places she kept touching that made it uneven. She did this to three of the nails. The dip isn't even so it's darker in different places. I'm super disappointed. She even apologized when I was leaving because I did ask her to fix one of the nails and she did but it came out exactly the same. She kept flinging her hair and it kept getting into the top layer and making it rugged. I paid and left because I know that I have bigger battles to fight, but I was pretty bummed. read more

I went back to this salon as I really liked the way Nicole did my nails. Upon arrival, I noticed that Nicole was busy with another customer, so I decided to have another lady work on my nails. I figured I'd give it a shot. Big mistake. First off she was doing her nails right in front of me. Making me wait in between her nails getting dried and mine. It was horrible. Second, the minute I got in the car my nails were absolutely horrible. I had to go back. I waited until Nicole was done and had her redo everything. I would never ever see that lady again. I'd rathe wait for Nicole. I think the salon is actually nice and tries to make you happy, but if you want no chip done the right way just go with Nicole. I wouldn't recommend the other lady (never got her name). She shouldn't even be doing nails all together. I would only return if Nicole is available. She knows her stuff and is a great asset to the salon. I would give my previous lady zero stars. And Nicole 5 stars for fixing my nails to perfection. read more

The woman who did my nails pretty much just ignored what I was asking for and did what she wanted, and when I asked her to correct them to how I wanted she said she couldn't.... the pedicure portion was awesome, but that portion was done by a different female. Prices were also sketchy....it costed me $80 for services that normally cost $65 other places. Maybe my friend and I just had bad nail techs but I personally wouldn't come back here. Update***Im now taking antibiotics because it's a painful bacterial infection.... This was my first trip to this salon. The place itself "looks" clean. The girl who did my nails was very nice. However she was not careful when cutting my cuticles and did it very fast and outside of my nail bed which I don't usually do. She also had a difficult time painting my nails. Some nails had three coats. Some were not painted all the way through. That being said the nails looked ok. BUT that evening and now for the next three days the cuticle that she cut too much is infected. My finger has been swollen and throbbing with pain. This has never happened before. Only tells me that the tools they use were not properly cleaned and sanitized. Never going back. read more

I found them on here and thought "oh please God, don't screw up my nails here, I need them to last at least a week" I made a double appointment for my mom and I. Nicole took care of me. I probably came off as one of those crazy people who are high maintenance, but being a retired cosmetologist, I have high expectations and I know what I'm talking about. And, come on... It was my wedding! My nails had to be on point! Nicole was amazing. She took her time she gave me beautiful French manicured gel nails. My pink and whites were perfect. I actually don't think I've ever had a better gel manicure in my life. I also got a French pedicure, with just traditional polish, and those turned out lovely as well. I also was pleased with the price. I felt it was very fair and it gives me all the more reason to speak highly of Nicole and the salon. I would definitely recommend going here. And thank you yelp!
