The best chicken paella we had. Lots of rich flavor. The service was good, quick, and attentive. A really nice place for a quick & low key date night. The added Frank Sinatra playlist was a great addition to the evening. Highly recommend! read more

Very good food and service! Quickly sat inside the clean, cute cafe. The wait staff was very friendly even with my limited Spanish. The moon and jamon came free without asking and it was delicious! The fish was so fresh and was listed as a special outside. read more

If you're reading this, then you probably speak English. I don't know why this place got three stars. The food here was incredible. We ordered tapas see my pictures. My favorite was the anchovies. If you're a fan of sardines it's OK you can order the anchovies. They're very little salt, but just enough to still taste like an anchovy. See how beautiful the sangria is. It is not authentic sangria. It has champagne in it which wasn't my favorite. I prefer American sangria. read more

Good place for a quick sangria and some small tapas. The octopus and the bread with warm olives and olive oil were great for a quick stop. Not my favorite place in the city, but if you're super hungry and in need of something, this is good for a quick stop. read more

Be careful if you're a solo female. This restaurant has waiters that will flat out ignore you. It was so blatantly obvious that one particular waiter was intentionally refusing to serve me. He told a couple and me where to sit and then brought them menus but gave me nothing. I got another waiter's attention who gave me a menu and apologized for the other waiter. Then this guy goes to the couple and takes their order completely avoiding eye contact with me. So I got the other waiter's attention and he politely took my order. I told him the other guy just flat refuses to wait on me. More apologies. He said some people lack manners. I got my food and a 3rd waiter got involved (I think my guy went on break maybe) and he was perfectly fine taking care of me. What the heck?! The food was decent. I've had worse. But the treatment by that one waiter was enough to never go back again. read more

We ordered Veal and it was as tough as leather. We asked to change order, the waiter said no and was very rude. We spoke to the manager he was also rude! I made them take it off the bill and we'll never ever go back there again. Please don't go there, very bad!!! read more

Excellent cafe au lait. We had a cheese plate with Jamon Iberico and the crystal bread is good. Its just bread brushed with fresh crushed tomato. We ordered croquettes as well. The restaurant was not packed even though the Christmas store was open out front. This is a great spot for lunch. There were lots of empty seats. We ordered a minestrone soup which was good as well. read more

Walking around the Gothic area, we stopped by this restaurant to eat a bite. They have an outside area to sit as well as inside. We got there about an hour before they closed for the siesta. Not too many people were there. The hostess asked us if we knew Spanish or English, and gave us an English menu. There were lots of tapas to choose from as well as several other entree's. We ordered the sangria with champagne (cava) for the table. It was light and refreshing considering it was quite warm outside. I ordered the paella which had seafood as the meat. Very delicious! Lots of seafood, the rice had perfect amount of moisture, and everyone loved it. My BF got pappardelle pasta with seafood. It came with some kind of tomato sauce. Perfect rich with flavor and paired very nicely with the seafood. The son got half of a rabbit. It was so moist. The seasoning on it let the rabbit flavor shine through. And the daughter got half a chicken. Again, it was very moist and juicy. Not dry at all. It is a good place to eat as you continue walking around the Gothic quarter area. read more

Very touristy. Very mediocre, value is pretty low for the price. We had the paella - just mediocre. Wish I would have checked out the yelp reviews first! I usually do but was starving after long flight. Save yourself the trouble, go somewhere else. read more

I think it's fine for a person to dine alone, some people (like myself) enjoy it. I visited this place on a not so busy night, but immediately I was a little turned off by the rushed nature of the staff. Very rushed- remember in Spain the idea is to enjoy a meal leisurely. The menu was traditional Spanish, however the entire staff was of a different cultural background, perhaps (but I am not sure) even the chef? The result was food that was subpar, even for "tourist trap" standards. It's really a shame because this place is well located and has a nice interior. I imagine in the past or with a different team it can be really good read more

My wife and I stopped in here for tapas before one of our nights out so my review is based solely off of my burger slider which was amazing. The meat was fresh, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The toppings were also great. I wish we would have had more time to have had a full meal here because the menu and food options I saw looked great. read more

We were lost and hungry and this was convenient for us so we stopped here. Our experience was very pleasant. We dined alfresco. It was under a tent and there were heaters aplenty so it was perfect to sit outside and eat. My friend had a veal dish and I had paella. We were both very happy with our food and the service. Also the prices were reasonable and the quality of the food was very good. We were there at about 10:30 PM. One waiter had the entire outside section. He handled it very well. We didn't have to wait long to order food. The clientele was about half locals and half tourists when we were there. read more

While it is very touristy, we had great service and good food. The wines are plentiful and inexpensive. The paella was tasty, and the meats are well prepared. The cannelloni was EXCELLENT and the grilled vegetables were cooked well (but underseasoned). You cannot do much better in the immediate radius of the cathedral. read more

Service is quick, tapas are delicious and their selection is varied - their tortillas are amazing and really well cooked. But I found the price was a little bit abusive - maybe it is because of the centric and touristic location? Anyway, this is a good- and beautiful - place to have a quick stop if you want to enjoy some vermouth and tapas while visiting the Cathedral. read more

Didn't have high hopes for this place. It looks like a tourist trap but we needed to eat something and we came right before closing. They have menus in both english and spanish which is a red flag on its own. The food was as average as you can get. We had a couple glasses of wine as well. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I cant even remember details of the meal honestly. I would only come if you are starving and need a quick bite. Otherwise I would skip... too many good places in Barcelona. read more

Traveling into downtown Barcelona, we were walking around city's main cathedral when we spotted this quaint-looking café. We were all still jet-lagged, but wanted to get something to eat. Great atmosphere inside, it reminded me of a French café with the art and decorations inside. The staff was friendly and accommodating, especially for our very-tired children. I opted for the Open-Faced Tuna and Cod Sandwich. Very unique, but still tasted good. The boys didn't like it, but hey - they're new to trying European food. Loved the atmosphere and will be back again! read more

Your expectations upon walking in here are set by the location, heavy on tourist and heavy on bankers from Barcelona. It feels a little slick and it feels a little predictable. You get the sense that anyone exhausted from touring the cathedral ends up here for tapas or a beer. And the fact is, if you thought all that, you would be far off. The place is filled with slick guys in suits and people carrying guidebooks who have been doing sightseeing. But the truth is the food is actually quite good and the service is pretty attentive and the mood is warm and comfortable. I ordered a small plate of chorizo, Roasted prawns and octopus ( which I felt quite guilty about but did just just this once) and when the paella finally arrived 30 minutes later I was nearly full. All dishes were fresh, though truthfully I felt like the paella was slightly scorched and would not highly recommend. read more

I am sure that they rake in the tourist business with this location very near the cathedral. That would typically make me wary, but since it looked very handsome through the front windows and the time and place were right, in we went. And the verdict was...thumbs up. The service was a little frustrating, but most of the food was very good. The champiñones and stuffed piquillo peppers were excellent, and the cafe con leche satisfying, but the "Andalusian" calamari is just fried calamari like you can get in almost any sports bar in the United States. All in all, it was a nice setting for a leisurely midafternoon meal and satisfying food for our first tapas excursion of the trip. Later on, we had some better and some worse, but we were happy with this initial stop on our gustatory tour of Spain. read more

Nestled within the Gothic Quarter is this fantastic oasis of good food, nice wine and friendly service. The weather was good to us and we were able to sit outside. Nice to take in the air while eating and drinking. Hunt out this lovely restaurant and, trust me, you won't be disappointed. Maybe, a little, repeat a little, more expensive but worth every penny (or Euro). read more

Absolutely horrible food. Calamari was extremely rubber and bad. The homemade paella was disgusting too and is high priced. Would never eat here again even if the food was free. read more

Crappiest food and service youll find in barcelona. Looks like a tourist trap is a tourist trap with extra rude waiters

Bad service. Calamari undercooked and rubbery. Also plate was dripping in oil. Patatas bravas ok but SWIMMING in a pool of oil so could only eat the top layer. Mum had burger which was ok. read more

It's a little pricey because of the location, other than that it was great! We had tapas. The Food and service were perfect. Location... It's all about location. Just by the Cathedral... my friend was hungry and wanted to sit down someplace easy for me to find and catch up with her. She'd ordered some wine, pan con tomate, and calamari. When I finally joined, eventually (after an interminable amount of time), a server came and asked if I wanted something to drink... uh yes. The calamari was doughy, and rubbery... the bread was tough... the wine was ok. The terrace was nice. Same with the setting. I don't think I'd ever stay here for a meal - this only served as a meeting spot, and to get a quick bite before continuing on our day. read more

I went here with my wife today. The service was terrible and the drinks were awful/disgusting. We ordered a drink called the lumumba that tasted like watered down chocolate milk and an old fashioned that tasted like straight orange syrup with no alcohol in it. I told the waitress that my wife was allegeric to milk (in the lumumba drink) and she clearly didn't care as I tried to explain that I would like the drink to be taken away. Whoever made the old fashioned should not be a bartender; I could've made a better drink on my own. There are so many other options in Barcelona. Do not go here; save your money. Once again, do not waste your money on drinks in this establishment. read more

Drinks have barely any alcohol, way over priced, absolutely disgusting. I didn't try the food. The waitress was rude as well. When my husband said the drink has milk my wife is allergic can we see the menu she said you must pay. We never said we weren't we just wanted the menu to try something else, but left due that rudeness. We have had AMAZING service all over Barcelona but AVOID this place at all costs read more

We randomly stopped here for a small meal and a drink while having a wonder around the Barre Gotic. It looked friendly enough and was brilliantly situated right near the Cathedral. It's been some time since we were there but if I remember correctly between us we had octopus, croquettas, and morcilla (black pudding) dish. There was probably more but as I said it was a few months ago now. I do remember having a very tasty "shandy" in an extremely cold ceramic mug! Tapas places around here are really a much of a muchness but I would visit here again. read more

This was the worst meal we had during probably our entire Spain trip. We were tired one evening and since we were in the area we decided to just try this spot. Luckily we only ordered a couple items, but it was enough for us to say no more. We ordered the patatas bravas and the croquettas to start, and my husband ordered a mojito. It was a challenge to finish just what we ordered but we didn't want it go to waste so somehow we managed to the do so. The filling of the croquettas was just...strange and not good. The patatas bravas were in a sauce that also was strange and very oily. The mojito...tasted like cough medicine to me. While we were there, we saw 3 different groups of people sit down and then getup to leave before ordering. We should have taken that as a sign. read more

Location: The Gothic quarter. The place: It's basically a bar with seating inside and out. The goods: We all ordered sangria. It was OK but nothing to write home about. Service: OK. Our waiter wasn't overly friendly or attentive. Price point: I didn't pick up the tab! read more

Decent food, decently priced. There are so many similar places to eat in Barcelona it's hard to distinguish them (and there was no particular reason for going here other than it was just here). But there's nothing really wrong with it so if you're in the area and hungry you might as well eat here and be satisfied :) read more
