Fried olives to start was a first, can't say I've ever tried ir before but somehow it works. Since we've pretty much been stuffing our face all day in Spain we decided on only two appetizer for a group of four instead of the usual 10 appetizers of so. Classic patatas Bravas and croquetas de jamon were ordered and it didn't disappoint. We decided to order two different paellas... the classic al mar which is seafood based and a chorizo y Puerco version. The classic version was amazing but what really stole the show was the pork version. The socarrat (crispy, carmelized layer of rice) was perfectly done. MANÁ 75 was a great lunch option to eat in Barceloneta Beach. If it's your first time trying paella, you have plenty of options to choose from. It does take about half an hour for them to prepare for it you, so ordering some starters are highly recommended. - Andalusian style squids with kimchi mayonnaise: it was definitely worded in a fancier way than "calamari with spicy mayo." lol it was good, but don't expect anything special. - Seasonal tomato salad with tuna belly: I honestly wished the tuna belly was prepared differently. Slightly overcooked, but personally would've preferred sashimi style. - Sea bream carpaccio with smoked oil: this was good. would recommend and get again. - Seafood paella "senyoret": tasty, well seasoned, good shrimps. I just wished there was more socarrat (crunchy caramelized bottom). Not sure if that's more of a specific region way of cooking paella. Would still recommend trying. Located along the beach, across from the W Hotel, this is a hot spot for locals. We saw at least 4 Bridal Showers, and many special occasions for Happy couples. I was in search of authentic Catalonian food and found a gem of a restaurant. They say that really good paella takes time to cook, and the waiter will warn you that your paella is minimum 30 minute cook time. Trust me, this place is worth the wait! This was the most delicious Paella- Norwegian lobster and scallops, which was in a rich saffron rice sauce. The Steak Tatar was absolutely amazing and paired well with the Pa amb tomàquet (which literally translates to "bread with tomato" in Catalan). Heard alot about Mana 75 and this place did not disappoint. Had a reservation for dinner and we were promptly seated. We ordered their seafood paella, patatas bravas, sangria and they gave us fried olives which was stuffed with anchioves. The food was amazing. The ambiance at this restaurant is beautiful with a stylish interior that initially made me feel hopeful about the meal to come. Unfortunately, the food was a major letdown and ultimately a health concern. Even our waitress was surprisingly rude and dismissive, which only made the overall experience more disappointing. I ordered the seafood paella, and while it was plated well, the flavor was far from authentic. The seafood did not taste fresh as it had an off-putting aftertaste. A few hours after the meal, my friend (who also had the paella) began experiencing severe stomach issues, which continued into the next day. It was clear he had come down with food poisoning. I called the restaurant the following day to inform them, not to demand anything, but simply let them know what had happened so they could investigate and take precautions. While the person I spoke to apologized and said the kitchen would follow up, I never heard back from the kitchen. What was supposed to be a nice night out ended up ruining the next couple of days for both of us. There are plenty of other local spots that serve fresher, more authentic food. So that's what we ordered: chicken and shrimp paella with green asparagus. 30+ minutes later, paella cooked with seasoning and soul was delivered to our table, and it was absolutely delightful! Until then, the Spanish potatoes salad was a treat: potato salad, but add peas, tomatoes, and tuna?! I mean, come on: mind blown and yet, I'd order it again. I was recommended by our Taxi driver about Mana 75. He said the paella was superb, I had to check it out before going to W Barcelona. It was 4 pm on a Sunday and this restaurant was completely packed. The hostess gave us a table immediately since a 3:30 pm reservation didn't show up. The food was incredible but maybe the absolute worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. It was about 5 PM on a Friday. Not really busy. The host just was rude and indifferent, and we sat for 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. Getting a cocktail took forever. The food was really amazing though. What's cool about this restaurant is they cook the paella right where you can see it. The paella chicken and shrimp was shared between 3 people and was so filling. There is so much food and so many choices in Barcelona, we narrowed our Paella restaurant search to the three top recommended, ultimately we chose Mana 75 due to its proximity to the water & it's reviews. To sum it up, this was a humbling experience. If you're staying at the W, attending a conference, or want to feel like your in Miami w/ sub par food and service... this is your spot! We went for lunch & ordered tomatoes w/ tuna (this dish was nice, but too big for two people planning to have paella afterwards), potatoes brava (skip this & order the mussel lasagna), paella (will talk about this more in next paragraph), desserts were okay... more about this later. The paella. They have quite a few options. We ordered the "Caribanero" paella, which is basically the seafood paella w/ two big shrimp (almost like mini lobsters). The waiter explained that people prefer it because it's more flavorful. The paella wasn't that flavorful at all, and the small oysters & mussels (three of each) were as dry as you can imagine. The desserts were average at best. We ordered espressos to go with the dessert, but they never came. This was the overall theme of the meal. Food, but no drinks. Water was never brought to our table until the end of the meal, even after asking multiple times. The bottle of wine we ordered (before appetizers were brought out) wasn't delivered until we were halfway through our paella. Again, we had to ask multiple waiters where our drinks were. Eh... lessons learned, but at 160 euro, if this review can save you (whoever's reading this) time & money... then I guess it's worth it. Ordered the tomato salad with tuna belly and tomatoes didn't appear to be fresh and tuna was like cat food. Ordered the paella (min 2 person) which they provided me a paella for 1 person and charged full price. Paella was worst I've ever had - burnt all throughout and all seafood was WAY overcooked. Our (100+ year old) favorite paella restaurant in Barcelona is closed on Tuesday - which just happened to be when some dear friends were visiting, and we wanted to give them an authentic paella experience. Hello, Maná 75! Located between the W Hotel and the marina, this place is elegant. The dining area is spacious and well appointed; diners can view the kitchen from just about any seat in the restaurant. The wait staff are very prompt and courteous, and multilingual. (The menus are also available in a variety of languages.) They have a full bar and a pretty nice wine list. The axiom that "If your paella comes out in less than 20 minutes, you should RUN!" is not a problem here. They do NOT have batches made up in advance. Each paella is cooked to order, and not begun until the order has been placed. ...which worked out well, giving us ample time to enjoy some starters. We enjoyed the "Boquerones" (anchovies fried in olive oil with a light batter), the "Donostiarran Style Clams" (delicious) and the Steamed Mussels - too good to pass up! The four of us shared a "Seafood Paella Senyoret." The "senyoret" designation simply means that the kitchen has taken care of plucking the shrimp, clams and mussels from their shells for you. The rice is locally sourced - it comes from the Delta del Ebro, roughly 100 miles to the south. This special "bomba" rice is perfect for soaking up the wonderful broth that is at the heart of a good paella. It was... extraordinary. I've had every dish mentioned before venturing to Barcelona, but Maná 75 took it up a notch or 3. Over all great place. However, the front guest greeters were very rude. We had placed a reservation for 4:15 we the realized that we were not going to make it so we canceled our reservation and made a new one for the same day at 5:45 but when we got there they told us that we had to sit outside since the system canceled our earlier reservation as well as the later one When we finally got seated the server took ~10 minutes to get there which by no means was his fault. It was the front desk forgot that we existed and didn't input the data into the system. We only go served because a server on break was hanging out at the back and passed us sitting outside on his way to the front. The salmon guacamole was delicious but it was a little too much with the paella ( even though I did stab my gum with a tortilla chip). The paella looks huge but is incredibly shallow we got a black paella because our server recommended it. It was supposed to be super flavorful but it just had a very fishy flavor. This is the place you go to on your first night in Barcelona. Your expectations are super low so you'll be impressed. Then when you venture off the touristy beach area and into the city, you'll realize how much better the food is over there and glad you didn't end your trip on this place. The space is really nice, staff are friendly although missing for most of the event, but the food was really lackluster. The paella - literally overcooked rice with a few pieces of protein. I'm use to paella that has a lot of veggies and protein added in so it's rich in texture and flavors. I couldn't eat this. Otherwise, we had a lot of appetizers and some desserts that I completely skipped out on. The inside of the restaurant is very neat with all of the skillets on the counter but we decided to sit outside cause it was a little bit stuffy. The cod fritter appetizers were okay. Paella was way too salty, Norwegian lobsters are actually like langostines with 1 bite of meat, not succulent or satisfying at all and the rice was brown, not yellow with delicious saffron and so salty, the burrata salad was a hit but everyone was so sad, bombas were good, atmosphere was gorgeous. We wanted to experience the Best Paella Barcelona had to offer and although this was not the best it certainly was not the worst. I believe it caters to the Guests of the W Hotel. Darn, after hearing from so many people that this place has the best paella, I had such high expectations! Well I've had so many paella's in the past and this place missed the boat big time. The seafood medley just had shrimp and mussels, no octopus, no calamari, usually it's saffron rice but the seafood medley was drenched in a salty fishy broth. I didn't like the paella at all. The service was great, but other than the squid with kimchi mayonnaise sauce, everything else was a miss. Such a disappointment. Maybe tonight was an outlier but there are so much better options than this place. It's right next to the W hotel, so the price is double triple what you would pay in the city. I don't think it was worth it at all.
