Smoked cheddar mash and garlic green beans
Shara B.

I wanted to like this place so bad. My family took me here as special celebration of getting to see each other while I was visiting. The inside was pretty but it REEKED of used kitty litter the second we walked in. I have no idea why it smelled like that but that's what my entire family described it as and it got even stronger when you walked by the end of the bar. We ordered drinks and I did really like mine so that was a plus. We then ordered a couple appetizers as we had a fairly big party. The sourdough trio and the beef carpaccio were okay. We loved the scallop esquites though which were delicious. The bathroom was really weird, you go through a back door down a hallway and once you get to the all gender bathroom it's closed off by plywood doors for each individual stall which was really weird and felt cheap in a restaurant that looks nicer. Our waitress sucked (a middle aged blonde woman). She took forever to take our orders because she for some reason assumed we were just getting appetizers even though we never said that. When taking our orders my stepdad said "oh you're starting with me?" Just because I think he wasn't ready and in a rude tone she says "well you're sitting in seat number one so I'm just going by order". She was rarely at our table and spent more time talking with the bartender and who I assume are regulars who were sitting at the bar. When our food came out she said "you also ordered the teres major right?" While setting it in front of me before I said no. She then said "oh yeah, I knew that was wrong before I even said anything" and that she had put my order in wrong. She said she'd have the cooks put a rush on it but you can't really put a rush on a steak. She brought out the sides that go with my dish so I wouldn't be without food but the green beans were incredibly salty and the mashed potatoes were dry and almost cold. When my mom offered to let me have some of her steak for the time being the waitress butted in to say "she does have food coming". When my steak finally came out everyone else was already finished eating but she did bring it out with fresh sides and the mashed potatoes were much better! Granted the texture and appearance was so different from the first ones it really made me wonder just how old those first potatoes were which grossed me out a bit. My steak was delicious and I did get a side of chimichurri which was the best chimichurri I've had in a long time. My sister said the sauce for her seafood linguini was pretty bland but she otherwise enjoyed her dish. My mom also mentioned the teres major was really good. So there were some pluses but we all decided the negatives outweighed the positives. Would not recommend.

Amazing service. Seriously. Some of the most attentive, professional, and on-it servers in the entire valley. The kind of place where your water never gets empty and somehow everyone seems to know exactly what you need before you do. ...and the food. Wow. The menu gets a creative refresh every couple of months, which keeps things interesting, but they've also got a lineup of permanent heavy hitters that are basically perfect every time. Smash burger. Steak frites. Seafood ceviche. Tomahawk steak. I mean... come on. Also -- the bar! Some of the hardest-working pros in the Springfield/Eugene scene are behind it. Great wine list and cocktails that feel like smart little love letters to the classics. In short: this place is legit. Great people, great food, great drinks. If you haven't tried it yet... what are you waiting for? Go. Now. Your stomach will thank you.

Tuna melt

The place is super cute, gives a fancy vibe with the gold utensils, fabric napkins and their table salt is coarse with a little spoon to add to your food. I never went without an ice tea refill, server was prompt and checked in with us enough. We ordered fairly quickly and food really didn't take too long. Now....the food looks much better than it tastes, sadly. Starters we got rolls with whipped butter, the butter definitely was not whipped Brussel sprouts, which had bacon fried on it, but none of the bacon fat, and the gastrique was so minimal, that the sprouts were super dry. Artichokes, they were ok just bland, and the romesco sauce was lacking flavor as well. My friend got the tuna melt, she said it was ok I got the smash burger and their special sauce added a flavor I did not like at all, otherwise the meat was good, crispy edges and bun was soft!

Bone marrow

We had an absolutely phenomenal dinner at Tavern on Main. If you go, the bone marrow and bacon-wrapped mushrooms are non-negotiable--they were truly out of this world and packed with flavor. For the main course, my husband had the beef tenderloin, which was prepared perfectly and quite literally melted in his mouth. I paired my meal with a local Pinot Noir that rounded out the evening beautifully. Exceptional food, great atmosphere, and top-tier service. We will be back!

Bread, butter and drinks.

I travel to Eugene a lot and am always looking for new restaurants to try...and had heard about Tavern on Main in Springfield and thought I wound give it a try. The place is located in a very cool space in the downtown area...and the wife and I arrived without a reservation but were greeted promptly and seared at a nice table. We both ordered drinks and food...service was pleasant but slow...it appears they had just one (maybe two?) servers for the restaurant and it was quite busy for a Wednesday evening. The wife and I both ordered the bread as an appetizer-- and the steak frites as a main entree. Bread came very quick...and was good. It came with a tasty butter that was also good...but we were not given and napkins (or utensils) and because the server was so busy it was difficult getting her attention...as you can see from the photo I ended up using my shirt as a napkin. The steak took some time but came out at the correct temp (med-rate) and presented well. It was very tender and a good portion...but we both felt it lacked seasoning. It was fine but not special. Fries were fine as well. The entire meal with bread, drinks and tip was $100...these days that is very fair. Overall we both felt this was a good dinner but nothing really stood out as special.

Tiny Ms. Bond's Vesper shot at $17

Was out and about last Friday and since I've been here before I decided to stop for lunch. The interior is nice and booths are comfortable. My server was prompt and attentive, and appeared to be the only server on duty. I ordered Ms. Bond's Vesper shot- Aviation gin, vodka, Cocchi Rosa, Dolin Blanc, grapefruit twist, served with a bump of caviar on a golden spoon. The drink was surprisingly spicy, and the tiny bit of caviar served on a golden spoon was delicious. I was in the mood for a tuna melt so I ordered it from their lunch menu. Boy was I disappointed. The bread looked like two pieces of Texas toast with about 2 tablespoons of extremely mushed up tuna salad that was not spread out to the edges of the sandwich. I did like the spicy bit of red pepper that was in the sandwich. there was a very small piece of very thin American cheese that was not even melted. I normally love tuna melts, but not this one. The pomme frites were good. The next time I'm in Springfield for lunch, I will try a different restaurant.

Decided to come here for dinner, first time with friends. Glad we had reservations as when we got here, it was super busy! Enjoyed the interior and art deco theme. Fun place for downtown Springfield. I enjoyed my Steak Frites. Everyone else had a Smash burger which they enjoyed. We also enjoyed the charcuterie, very tasty. The drink menu is a lot of fun, with some great options. I enjoyed trying their cocktails and the cute glasses they served them in. They did have a dessert menu but since we were all full, we opted out. Will go back for sure! Enjoyed this little piece of downtown Springfield. Fun to see nightlife come alive here.

Happy accident to happen upon this place. It was super quiet and clean. The lunch menu affordable with a variety of options you don't see everywhere like the sausage platter and lobster sliders. Everything we had was delicious. The staff was very friendly. I would definitely come here vs some of the noisier neighbors.

Best pretzel and beer cheese ever!
Mel H.

You know how it is usually the pretzel or the cheese....but never both....well we got the holy grail of pretzels and beer cheese at the Tavern on Main in Springfield....rumor is they are removing it...so run over there now! We also had the wedge salad with steak (excellent) and the peach drink with bourbon...also great. I had red wine which was a perfect addition to the meal. Service and atmosphere are top notch.

Really great fresh food with some interesting combinations. We came here on a whim (no…read morereservations) while visiting my wife's niece at UofO at around noon on a Saturday. Busy but they had a table for us. Very nice decor, rotating menu. We had the buckwheat pancakes with caramelized bananas, dates, and pineapple syrup which was sweet but not overly so since the pancakes underneath were not touched by the syrup ended up being a really nice balance. Bacon was like a cross between pork belly and bacon (very thick) but really tasty. Breakfast Sando was good with in-house ground pork and a nice aioli. We also tried the savory macarons (Brie and truffle) which are delicious. Creamy and a tad sweet. Not too much truffle. Coffee was a bright tangy pour over-not my favorite type but some people really like that style. Oh, and we had a blood orange mimosa which was really good Overall an excellent experience! Definitely going to again when we are in town!

Fancy cocktails available too. Food: I ordered the steak sandwich and was okay. Very small amount of hangar steak. Fries were crispy. Wife ordered chicken Cesar salad. Nothing to write home about. Kid ordered the steak frites and this was the biggest disappointment of the night. VERY small serving....about 4 slices of perhaps rib eye? Under seasoned and very thin slices. Fries were crunchy though. My kid isn't a big eater and he was still hungry after eating this. Chicken nachos were delicious plentiful, but it came with huge cherry tomatoes on it. More tomatoes than cheese! And the cheese was grated cheese. Not a creamy bechamel cheese sauce. They barely put any cheese on this. Mostly tomatoes and sour cream. Pass on this. This was something you can get at Chilis! Service: Servers were nice. Only came around once to refill out drinks. The food came out really slow! We waited for over an hour and it wasn't that busy. Lot of empty seats! I was appreciative of the server letting us know service/tip already included on our bill. Don't think we'd come back here again.

The Skybar is located on the 5th floor of the building along with the Hotel lobby... uh okay. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. We went to the SkyBar and found it to be a smallish yet convenient place to wait for guests or visitors along with getting a drink or a bite to eat. The bar looks like it can accommodate about 30 people in the interior. There is a nice outdoor patio that can easily accommodate more when the weather is nice. The barkeeper was very attentive and observant, he took our food and drink requests at the bar and in short order, everything was presented. I had a Moscow Mule that I found to be a refreshing drink. Ginger beer, lime and vodka. An excellent combination. I also had an order of the chicken wings and fries. The fries were a normal shoestring variety, cooked well, nicely salted and came in a metal bowl. The wings I found to be outstanding! I don't usually get wings this well made unless I do it myself. I received 8 wings coated with barbecue sauce on a charcuterie board with the fries. The wings were served nicely hot. The meat was piping hot, juicy and tender. The barbecue coating was a hearty middle of the road sauce, not sweet or too smoky. It was caramelized perfectly for that sticky texture and flavor. Definitely a nice coating. Thankfully the bartender brought us a lot of napkins. The wings and fries made for a satisfying meal. The bar boasts a couple of gas fireplaces that make for a warming environment with a few semi private tables. There is a longer table for a larger group as well as several smaller tables and a few bar stools for game watching. All in all we found the bar to be a cozy semi-private environment, yet available to the guests as they come and go. All around, a nice meeting area and watering hole. We will book our family members for a stay here at the hotel. I'm looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks.

SkyBar didn't necessarily WOW me but was still a chill place to come for a drink, maybe to start the night.
