I love Tatte so I always try to stop by one of their locations when I am in Boston. The Northeastern location is a bit chaotic due to the large number of students and the fact that it is embedded within the campus. On this visit I had a cup of tea (love the Mem tea that they serve). I also had the carrot cake and the pistachio cherry bar. The cake was delicious. It could have use a bit more cream cheese, but really no complaints. The bar was dry, flavorless and over baked and a travesty at $7.50. Definitely do not recommend it. I will be back, but they definitely need more consistency with the pastries at least. read more

Coming here is a commitment. During the academic year, the lines are long and it is tough to get a table. The summer is more casual and lower key. The pastries are generally fresh. I am not an avid coffee drinker, but I have colleagues who go there regularly and seem pleased. That said, it is pricey. Don't assume that because there are students flocking there that the prices align with what would have been your student wallet a decade or two ago. But you are paying for a better quality than longer established national chains. The tipping business can be a bit awkward. I have had service attendants stand and stare at me as if you nudge a particular tipping level for what amounted to grabbing a croissant from a stand and putting it in a bag. I wish there were a way to make that experience less weird for both parties. read more

Really solid Tatte location by Northeastern. My experience went uphill throughout the week. My first time here I had a mediocre experience, which was surprising for a Tatte, but I didn't want to give up on it and I'm so happy I didn't. From my first experience, I had a tasty yet very small and disproportionate chicken pita, and so-so Iced Tea. The pita was half the size I usually get, had too much dressing, and had lettuce as a substitute for their classic tomato-cucumber-onion salad filling. I also wanted them to add a bit of liquid sweetener to the iced tea, but that wasn't an option they only gave me a raw sugar packet instead of sweetening the drink :( I was bummed with my first experience, but decided to give them another shot and ordered a Tatte Breakfast the next day. This was the best decision ever, and earned them back their stars. I got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich on Sourdough with an over medium egg, and it was probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Truly no words, and I wish I had taken a picture. I also indulged in their flourless brownie, and it was the best brownie I have ever had in my entire life. It was so rich and dark chocolatly. I came here around 11am on a Monday with my friend. The line wasn't as long as I anticipated, and we managed to grab a table outside. I had an almond milk cortado and a bowl of muesli. This location is horrible. I work at Northeastern, so have been many, many, many times. Yes, it's overcrowded and slow. I always get my food to go because the idea of eating in the cramped and very loud cafe seems completely unpleasant to me. But my main complaint is that the food is completely inconsistent. The brie and prosciutto sandwich is fine except when the cheese is burned black. The cauliflower sandwich is yummy when it's not doused in 2 cups of labne. Any sandwich on the menu, they will find a way to make it inedible every once in a while. And this year, the full menu seems to be unavailable. Every day, it's a guess as to what sandwiches will even be on offer. Sometimes, the kitchen is entirely closed! That's fun! They must have high turnover because they have to hire students but there has got to be something they can do. I have seen seen many come and go and there have always been massive problems. Visited this Tatte location for the first time today! We had high expectations from the photos and recent reviews - I ordered the Mezze plate, and my boyfriend ordered the Lox Sandwich, along with two iced lattes. The Jerusalem bagel that came with the Mezze was stale - it was hard to bite into and didn't taste like it had been made with 24 hours. The two sides were both tasty, and the eggs were very under. My boyfriend and I liked the Lox sandwich, and our lattes were great. Wanted to love this place because of the bakery aspect but it was the most disappointing part. Tatte's was the first place I visited when I went to Boston. After hearing multiple recommendations I knew I had to go and try it! I had some very interesting items: Ricotta and pea flatbread Lemon mint tart Cascara soda Everything was amazing! The flatbread was just right, not too doughy and not too heavy. Loved the combination of ricotta and peas - vegetarian paradise. Anything lemon in dessert and I'm usually in. And the cascara soda was something new! Oh, the Huntington Tatte. Honestly, when craving healthy food, I'll go for Tatte 6/10 times. I got the maple squash and chicken salad and you know, if what you're looking for is raw, natural food, get this! It wasn't super tasteful in my book, but it was filling enough and made me feel good about eating it. I also got a latte that was decent. Wonderful vibes in the cafe, though, although it can be quite difficult to get a seat since a lot of people from Northeastern like to sit there forever with their laptop. This Tatte has improved SO much since I graduated from Northeastern... wow! Only got a DECAF pistachio latte, which was delicious, super refreshing, perfectly sweetened and tasted better than the Tatte lattes I've had at other locations like Assembly or Ink Block. The best part though was the workers. The cashier and baristas were super nice, friendly, pleasant which is not common for Tatte workers from my experience. They also seemed really happy on a gloomy Tuesday. This location is usually packed with students studying, or young professionals having work meetings. It's a pretty location with outdoor seating, but can get pretty loud haha, it's also usually packed and busy during the school year. read more

Tatte is definitely a chain but it's a chain justifying good reviews. I've been coming to this location frequently because it's a nice pit stop before checking out the nearby museums (and they have a public restroom that's pretty clean if you go through the glass doors into the student lounge area). Pastries tend to be hit or miss - I've had excellent shortbread cookies and chocolate chip varieties but the almond and chocolate croissants were on the stale end the last time I visited. You can get much better croissants elsewhere in this town. The breakfast/lunch food is where Tatte excels. Big fan of their salads, which are hearty enough to tide you to dinner - my favorite is the green and nutty, with generous pucks of goat cheese. The fluffy roll on the side is a sweet bonus. I've also grabbed the yogurt parfaits for an on the go snack - the granola is one of the highlights and I always intend on picking up a big bag of it on my next visit. Service is also a little inconsistent but most of the time, staff are patient with the long lines. There's not a ton of table seating compared to other Tatte's, since most of the space is taken up by this enormous coffee bar. Overall, a solid, reliable place to treat yourself to a snack or lunch. read more

I absolutely love the food here so far. I've been 2x, once before COVID hit and was able to properly dine in and the second time today, where the food was to-go only and we sat at the tables in the Marino center (next door). So, I've had both the winter shakshuka and the lamb meatball shakshuka. They're equally delicious and worth trying (and I'm sure their traditional version is probably also solid). This dish is real comfort food - hot, savory, and served with fresh made bread for soaking up the saucy dish. The baked good always look phenomenal and are tempting, but I've resisted. Their coffee is decent enough, but I don't know that I'd just go here for coffee without food. In my opinion, the food is definitely the main attraction. The staff members were all very friendly and accommodating both visits and these days, are all wearing PPE and keeping things very clean/safe. read more

A good quantity of outdoor and indoor tables that can easily overflow into the Northeastern recreation center general seating. Fantastic selection of fresh pastries. I got (and recommend) the maple carrot bread. The croque monsieur was a non-traditional take, done on a croissant, rather than on two toasted and cheese covered pieces of bread. I would have been interested to see what they could do with the traditional format. The chai was overly spiced, but otherwise I quite enjoyed my meal there, and would definitely check out other Tatte locations in the city. read more

The food and coffee remain great, but it has outgrown its capacity to the point that it's almost impossible to get seating. They are taking too many orders in the queue and my last two coffee drinks have taken around 20 minutes from ordering (plus 5 minutes or more in line to order). Baristas really seem to be trying their best, but they have one or two staff with 10-20 drinks waiting. Still worth it for food if you can wait for a table, no longer functional for takeaway coffee drinks. read more

Everytime I'm here, staff has always been super friendly! I really like the modern interior designs and displays of foods, pastries, and drinks. We had lunch around 2PM and got a few different tartines and sandwiches with our coffees. Everything was so yummy!! This location is within a college campus. There is almost always a line, so don't come here if you're in a hurry. For being within a college, the hours are quite odd, with a closing time of 4PM. I definitely think they would be even more successful if they were open a little later for those needing coffee for their evening studies. I love the unique menu and the success story behind the business. I love that they offer vegetarian and gluten free options. And I love the aesthetic of the interior design. I have enjoyed everything I have gotten from here, and the staff is always nice despite how hectic it can get with college students for customers. Today, I ordered an iced house latte in between classes as a pick-me-up. I didn't have to wait too long to receive it. However, the lid was too large and I lost a decent amount of the latte from it spilling over. I asked the barista for a smaller lid and she said that the larger lids were all they had and offered me a bigger cup that would fit the lid. I don't know why that wasn't the initial plan and oddly, the contents of the drink fit about equally in the bigger cup as they did in the smaller cup. Not sure what's going on there. I love bakeries and I am glad I picked this one! I was a tad put off when I read that it is a chain (quite a few around Boston, some in DC I believe), but I was pleasantly surprised. The bread and pastries look wonderful in the case-very tempting. Large menu for breakfast and lunch foods, there really is an option for anyone. I got a croissant breakfast sandwich with no egg (don't pick on me!) and the sandwich was wonderful on its own with arugula, Vermont cheddar, tomato and avocado. The iced chai I ordered was tasty-not the best I've had though as a self-designated chai connoisseur. 'Breakfast sandwich', over easy eggs with bacon on sourdough bread was considered very good by Nikita. The mocha was thick and chocolate-y. Very busy inside but didn't wait long for food or drinks. This Tatte location is right inside a campus building at North Eastern which I thought was pretty cool. Check it out, I think it's totally worth it read more

Some of their stuff is really good and some of it is not that special. I would recommend you get: - the shakshuka (unique dish that's big and can taste greasy after a while, so good to share the soft bread and tomato-ey goodness with friends) - almond croissant (it's flaky and flavorful and a cut above what you would ever expect of a croissant) - muesli (thick, tart greek yogurt with fruit and granola) The aesthetics never disappoint so enjoy the floor, the tables, the eucalyptus, the lightbulbs, the food presentation-- and take all the pictures! I heard Tatte Bakery is a must try when visiting Boston and I had a good experience here! I got the house special latte which was a honey halva latte and the croque madame for breakfast. The latte was good but a little too sweet for me personally. I really enjoyed the croque madame which had ham, gruyere cheese, and egg on a croissant. It also comes with a sauce that I got on the side of the sandwich. The shop itself is connected to Northeastern's campus building and there's plenty of seating available. The delivery person wouldn't take the food back, for some reason didn't have the address either to whom it was suppose to go to, so kept it for leftovers next day. What a great mistake that was! The order had the Winter Farro Bowl, and it is packed full of flavor, and very filling for a vegetarian dish. The staff were friendly but the only issue we had was that they completely forgot to input one of our orders.
