tl;dr Service sucks, waitress will yell at you for everything. Have to ask for water/drinks at least 3 times before they respond. Food is 6/10, bit too bland on some dishes. Oh, and for a party of 10, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU RICE BY THE BOWL. $1.50 each!
Called in the morning to make a reservation for a party of 10, they said they would accommodate. Cool, done.
Walked in at the time we reserved and the first thing the waitress does is yell at me for walking in? No greeting, plus I had to repeat my name 5 times and state, both in English and Chinese, that we had a reservation for 10 under my name. Took her a good while even though it wasn't super noisy in the restaurant or anything.
We sit down and we're looking through the menu for things to order. Everything is fine up until she takes our orders. Drinks took forever to come. Asked for a lemon, never came. I'm not expecting 5 star service, but even the worst Chinese restaurants could do better than the service they have here.
What we ordered:
*Crab Corn Soup (2x; waitress said one can't feed 10, she was wrong. we had leftover soup)
*Peking Ribs (not actually ribs, more just random cuts of meat)
*Roasted Duck (Whole; didn't really seem like a whole duck)
*String Beans with Ground Pork
*Seafood Tofu Claypot
*Honey Walnut Prawns (taste is off, sauce too watery)
*Stir-fried Mix Mushrooms
*Chow Mein w/ Bean Sprouts
*Rice (they charge you by the bowl, didn't give us enough for 10 people, never told us it was refillable, and then yelled at us when we complained at the end because for that big of a party. BTW, even at the lowest tier chinese restaurant, the rice is usually FREE)
*Salt & Pepper Squid
*Ginger Scallion Beef
Food was decent, dishes like Salt & Pepper Squid, Roasted Duck, and Stir-fried Mix Mushrooms were super under seasoned and bland. Chow Mein was decent, portion was pretty big too. Crab Corn Soup had a lack of....Crab. I found 1 piece of crab for every bowl of soup, pretty disappointing. The "whole" roast duck was also pretty small in size, and also very under seasoned. The one at Four Seasons tastes better.
I was pretty surprised they charged us for rice. 1. Waitress never told us the rice was refillable. 2. We asked her if we could get a discount for the rice because they served it to us in a tiny pot and it wasn't nearly enough to feed 10 people. 3. Again, SUPER RUDE SERVICE. Yelled at us for asking if we could get a discount on the rice because of said reasons.
Maybe I expected too much, but throughout our whole meal, our waitress basically yelled at us every time she said something. Ridiculously rude waitress and unorganized restaurant. I'll go to Four Seasons or Chengdu instead. read more
