One of the best restaurants in Davis we've had so far! The chow fun was delicious! They even added extra spice to it when I asked. Staff was friendly and a great family owned restaurant. Highly recommend! read more

I think it's too soon for me to give it more than 4 stars because I've only tried two dishes, but I really loved the salt and pepper pork! It almost felt like popcorn chicken but better, because the batter surrounding the pork piece was super crispy on the outside but moist and buttery on the inside. I seriously feel like I could just order this to go and snack on it while watching a movie or something haha (though there are bone pieces). The duck curry was less stellar but that may just be because the duck pieces were much fattier than I had expected (I had to spit out a piece of a fat chunk that was in the curry; I ate it assuming it was going to have some meat in it but it didn't). Best advice is to make sure you have a bowl of rice with you (which my friend ordered for us haha) and have a cup of tea to balance all the inevitable greasiness. But I think the salt and pepper pork as a finger food is totally worth it on its own too! But a downside - the food I ate didn't sit down well with me, but I think I do have a low tolerance of greasy, saucy foods. I wasn't left with a weird aftertaste but my insides did feel a bit heavy.. read more

Tasty Kitchen has really surprised me. As I've gone more, I've liked the food more and more. Are there still better places for Chinese food? Sure, but this is definitely the place to go in Davis if you're looking for a more authentic experience. I actually find myself craving certain dishes that they serve now! Their Singapore rice noodle dish is SO GOOD! And my wife loves the braised tofu and veggies. I've really become a fan of Tasty Kitchen! read more

Bad service, never included tableware for to-go orders, not even if you ask for it on the app. Even asking for the a plastic fork and a napkin in store they will show reluctance, and sometime they won't even give it to you. read more

Food here was so authentic. Had a wonderful meal with so many varied meat and veggie dishes. Would definitely come back.

Hong Kong Style Chow Mein beef was almost inedibly SWEET. Hubs didn't get rice with his Mongolian Beef. Prices were SIGNIFICANTLY higher than what is advertised on the website. $30 for 2 simple dishes?!?! We won't be coming back! read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant in town when it just opened last yeat. However, during the past three visits,I was totally disappointed about the services and the quality of food. First time I noticed the key ingredient in my fried rice was missing and they insisted saying they put it in then several people came to check and finally one waitress came to say sorry and pour the ingredients over the rice and said this is the way they made the rice. Speechless! Second time I went with a friend from Toronto and wanted to show her the most authentic Cantonese restaurant in town. After we sat down we thought the table was too small to put 4 dishes and asked if we could move to other bigger tables. Unfortunately all other tables were taken at that time so we waited till the table next to us clear and asked them again. But they ignored our request and let other party of two to sit in. RIGHT NEXT TO US!!! Our table was so cramped that we had to put our tea pot in their table with worries the dish might fall to the ground from our table. And we were sitting right next to the restroom!!! Busy traffic! Then they let another party of two sat in another bigger table again. Totally ignored our existence!!! Now the third time I found dirt on the raw celery stem and the waitress just said she will let the kitchen staff know and never came back! I am done with this restaurant!!! read more

Tasty Kitchen - Obviously no wash on the vegetable ... we found dirt! - Cantonese Near Me - Davis, California

Last year, we went there every 2 weeks. It has pretty good Chinese food. After summer, we started to live off-campus, so we didn't went there for quite some time. Today we went there, around 7:40PM, and we didn't get our food until 8:20PM. We ordered shrimp beef and 2 dishes of vegetables. There's less than 12 shrimps in that dish; the beef doesn't feel fresh, and it was cold, it feels like it's microwaved; and the vegetables were greasy. Therefore, we decided to not to give tips and we wrote why we didnt want to give tips. We walked out of the restaurant, and the waiter with glasses has the audacity to shout "Don't dine in, just eat take out". Shame on him. Tips is a good way to show gratitude of good service, and I don't appreciate the poor quality of food and service. It's a disappointment and I am never going there again. read more

Are.. You guys ok? I ordered through doordash and..I had to throw away the entire order which I've never done. The chicken, was so so soft (not the batter that's expected to be soggy upon delivery so fine) but it didn't even taste like chicken, I had to check if I ordered tofu. And things are pretty dang salty read more

Food is still quite solid, but I only take out from here now. Service is abysmal. Last time I was there, ordered a soup and a bunch of other dishes, the soup they brought was not what I ordered. I wasn't even complaining, just said this wasn't what I ordered, and was going to offer just to eat it anyways. But the waiter didn't say anything, angrily grabbed the bowl, and threw it in the dirty dishes bin splashing it everywhere on me and my kids. Never coming back here read more

My son is in his 3rd year at UCD, and we have come up here quite a bit now from the East Bay. We are now craving this wonderful Chinese food in their quaint downtown. The food is so amazingly good. We order extra, so he can take the leftovers back to his apartment so he doesn't have to cook. My favorite dishes are: deep fried fish filet on the appetizer menu, the WestLake Soup, their spareribs, their chow fun, and almost everything we've ordered here is amazing. I would definitely recommend to all. The place is clean, and the service is great. What a gem in Davis! read more

One of the few redeeming qualities about this restaurant is the portion sizes. Otherwise, the food is not very good. It was greasy and oily with little to no flavor. I would not come back here! read more

Authentic Cantonese dishes. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in Davis, this is 5 stars. It can be pricy depending on your dishes, ranges $9-15 per dish. No complimentary soup and dessert like normal. Parking: Haven't had a problem looking for one yet. Located in the corner with plenty of street parking and next door to a parking lot. Food: Available for take-out and dine-in. I've done both! They serve you in a reusable/meal prep container. No Styrofoam! They will serve you free tea but it's pretty taste-less, if you dine in. I've seen groups of college students, students with their parents, couples, etc. Don't expect to get your orders fast though. They don't really serve in a well timed manner. But sometimes when I miss Chinese food, this isn't a bad fix. Recommendations: salt and pepper spare ribs, garlic pea spouts, fish filet eggplant, sweet and sour soup. read more

Oh my goodness- if you are hangry...... you have to go to Tasty Kitchen because wow you really get such yummy and quickly cooked and well prepared for food Furreal! Came in on a calm Tuesday and it was not too busy, but occupied. Got seated immediately. The waiter was nice and gave us our tea and menus quickly. We ordered the Mushu chicken, shrimp fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, and orange chicken. The best dish from those was the mushu chicken! It was the first time my friends had it and they loved it. So, I'm glad this place didn't give a bad first impression of mushus for them. The shrimp fried rice was good, but not the best I've had. The honey walnut shrimp for some reason did have a sour after taste, but coupled with the mayo.. it was bearable. Orange chicken was decent. Overall, the food was good. I might come back to try other dishes. This place can get busy. It's a pretty authentic Chinese food place. read more

This is now my new favorite Chinese spot in Davis. My supervisor took my team and I to lunch. We ordered the fried squids for appetizer. We ordered the salty fish fried rice. Lots of window seats and spacious. Food is good and reasonably priced. Veggie Egg Rolls were so crispy and warm. So Yummy. My broccoli and shrimp over rice was tasty but my friends Black Bean Chicken over rice was even better. That black bean sauce was so good. Gonna get that next time. read more

Pretty good Chinese food -- the options felt authentic, at least. The service was attentive and present, which I appreciated.

Went to pick up a take out order we had placed online, and at least two different employees had their masks off at some point while we were waiting for our food (we waited outside because we were uncomfortable with the employee up front not wearing a mask when we entered). One employee had his mask off while coming in and out of the kitchen and talking with the delivery driver over food. We left without our order as we did not feel comfortable with the lack of safety precautions. read more

Came in on Friday night from out of town. We don't usually eat in but this time we did. This was also our first time here. First off parking looked full all the way around but fortunately there was a spot close to the door open. My husband has problem walking so this was a major plus. The place is very clean and organized seating for large groups and small. Greeted right a way and got the perfect table. Received hot green tea without asking nice touch. We ordered sweet n sour pork and pork fried rice. Ordered one of each to share. And was I glad we did . The plates were so large after we ate we took home the leftovers. Our mid night snack. The service was great the waiter was right there for all our needs. In total our bill was around 40.00. I tipped over 25%. The simple fact that it was so easy made our experience enjoyable. We do not eat inside places at all, it's too hard for my husband at times,so we avoid eat in situations. Not this time and we couldn't be happier we did. I do recommend any one who lives in Davis ca. Or surrounding areas to eat there cause we will be back the next time we want Chinese food. read more

It's about time this place opened. After driving past Tasty Kitchen and seeing nothing, they're finally open! They definitely remodeled, with new furniture, new everything. The place looks real nice and clean. Everything was brand new. Once we were seated, I was able to catch a glimpse of the food other people ordered. Right away I knew, this place should be legit. As a Chinese food enthusiast, I've had it all, at all types of places. Just by looking at the food they got, I sat there with relief. The feeling you get when trying a new place, it could be a little terrifying. After carefully observing the menu, they have a diverse selection. Right away I noticed the prices, which are a little steep but it's Davis's prices. They actually have roast duck and bbq pork here, which is what my friend and I ordered. We also had the salty spicy fried fish appetizer. The duck was delicious, it literally reminded me a little of home. The skin was crispy, just the way i like it. At first glance, it doesn't seem like they gave you much, but it was enough to get me full at the end. They also include a side of green veggies and rice. The bbq tasted fresh and not reheated like other places do. I was impressed. The spicy/salted fried fish fillet were okay, I think they were fried a little too long, and could definitely be more salty/spicy, but it was okay. It's very unfortunate that this place opened so late, since my time in Davis is coming to an end. However, if you're looking for legit Chinese food, try Tasty Kitchen. I'm definitely coming back and trying the other delicious dishes they have here. read more

Amazing food! We love the roasted duck and pork barbecue! Chow mein tickles your palate.

We had a Celebration of Life banquet here for my mother for 60 people. The food and service were fabulous! Here was the menu. Everything was good but I put *s by the exceptional dishes. Menu 1. Peking duck 2. * Gai Lan with oyster sauce cut into thirds 3. Fried flounder 4. * Garlic eggplant with fish in clay pot 5. * Malaysian style chow fun 6. * Honey walnut shrimp 7. * Ginger scallion beef 8. Szechwan Chicken 9. * pea shoots 10. Being from the bay, I try to hop around Asian restaurants to see which are worth it. The chicken chow mein was good, i would definitely order again. The fried rice was terrible! Number 1 rule of cooking is tasting it, it was bland! No flavor and a weird yellow tint. Add some salt or soy sauce or something. I tried to give it a chance but I had to throw it away. You're better off buying the Trader Joe's fried rice, it's also cheaper. read more

Huge portions and the food is really good! We got the house special sizzling tofu platter and salt and pepper pork chops for three people and we had quite a bit leftover. I have been buying here for a while, testing. My experiences in the past were not all that good--just passable. Nothing to write home to the family about. But I have to conclude: they've re-made this place and it's a winner! The on-line ordering and pick-up is just superb. Choose from a massive menu! I'm quite surprised at the low ratings for this spot. I mean, this place is pretty authentic and yummy. This was the first Chinese restaurant we tried around Davis and yet we keep coming back because their dishes are consistently good. Almost every dish, if not every was pretty damn tasty and good. We've tried so many dishes here already and everything was quite bombs. Even more surprising that it's in the middle of Davis. They serve canto style dishes. We've had the eggplant and fish casserole, half Hainan chicken (their ginger sauce is the best I've ever had though really salty), wet egg and shrimp with noodles which was bombs, the hand shredded chicken/jellyfish, and much more. If you are looking for tasty and authentic Chinese food, just come here. When it gets busy, the food comes out slow, but what do you expect? That's kinda like that everywhere though. Try to come during down times? Solid spot to eat at! read more

Good service from staffs. The foods are good and hot served at the table. The only thing is sometimes the steam rice is not hot enough and uncooked which makes it hard to enjoy eating it. The restaurant is not that fancy looking inside but their menu prices are reasonable not every dish. read more

Food is quite good, but it comes out of the kitchen at irregular intervals. Dishes came out one by one about 10-15 minutes apart so you pretty much finish one dish before the next one comes out. Overall its a very solid place to grab Chinese food. Would be a 4 star review if it was just faster. The duck here is legit. Salted fish fried rice is good, but if you've never had salted fish before, note that its very salty. Tea is free, but tastes like cheap Lipton's. read more

Finally a new Cantonese resto in town and they're officially open! We got takeout and so far, they live up to their name - everything was tasty! We ordered on the phone (530-753-7007 is the correct number) but got there a little earlier than their quoted time. It was a typical Davis summer evening (i.e. HOT) and we so appreciated the female server bringing cups of ice cold water to us while we waited. It's all about the small gestures. We got the salt and pepper pork, honey walnut shrimp and green beans with minced pork. Everything was well-seasoned. The pork was still crispy when we got home (though we kept the box vented on the drive back), and had a spicy kick from fresh garlic and jalapeños, yum! They mentioned lunch specials possibly in the future - that would be great! They have milk tea, too... And when you see older Chinese men walking out with them, must mean they're pretty legit? I'll find out next time. read more

Went here to get Hainan Chicken, even though I already had this dish 2x already during that week. But people back home had talked about Tasty Kitchen's Emperor Chicken and because we were in a town as small as Davis, we were curious to see why there was so much rave... Until we ate there ourselves. It was delicious! Tender and had a great green sauce to accompany it as well. For $22 the whole chicken was the perfect amount for 4 people. We also got the eggplant and chicken clay pot and that was tasty as well! The dish came out piping hot and there was so much that we barely were able to finish it up. For just under $40 we were stuffed and satisfied with our meal. Service was okay though something to note was that they were pretty quick! The restaurant had a typical Chinese family feel and wasn't anything too fancy but it was comfortable and homey. read more

This is he blandest food I've had in my life. event the hot sauce was mild. I guess this is good Cantonese food? Do not get the pan fried noodles. I had to be in Davis for work for 2 weeks and I ate there 4 times. It is the best Chinese food I have ever had. I'm so sad to have to leave. You will forever be with me Tasty Kitchen. I even ordered some to take home and bought a ice chest for the ride read more

Incredibly SLOW Kitchen should be the name of this self promoting business that arrogantly claims to be the best Chinese Food in USA. (Must be another joke or fake news)! Three lunch dishes should not take 45 minutes to arrive. The order of scrambled egg and beef with rice was poorly proportioned. Lots of rice, little egg and even less beef. The beef chow fun was not bad tasting but 35 minutes to arrive? We are sitting and waiting over 45 minutes now to taste the tofu and vegetable dish we ordered. We've never had to wait this long to eat at a so so establishment. There are plenty of better options than this in Davis. Good luck. read more

I came here a few weeks ago for a to-go order, and the customer service was horrible. I called in around 11:30am for a large order (about 8 plates), so they said to give it about 40 minutes, which I was happy to wait for. I come in 45 minutes later and they acted like they were surprised, and told me they were waiting on one more dish. I'm almost positive they forgot to start my order, because I waited on the bench for an extra 40 minutes (totaling around 1.5 hours for the order. I was almost more upset that I think they lied to me that they kept saying "waiting on one more" instead of just being honest about it. I felt really condescended against here and that the workers showed a complete lack of responsibility and professionalism. I'm lucky I didn't lose my job for showing up an hour late for my delivery. Upon receiving the order, everything was haphazardly packaged, leaking and had no labeling. I originally put this order in for work (not Doordash). I try to buy from family-owned business so I'm sad to say I won't give them my work-business. However their food is great, so I will still come for personal lunches once in a while, hence the second star. read more
