While they offer physical menus, they also have QR codes at each table for simple ordering online. We are accustomed to spots including rice with entrees so having to order it separately for an extra $2 per bowl feels bad. Items are large, so tailored for family style. Stir Fried Green Bean - as a green beans fanatic, my partner was a huge fan of the ones here. She liked these over our usual Canto spot which says a lot. The green beans themselves were fresh and cooked perfectly but the sauce was more flavorful than most. Very savory and lightly salty, not really spicy. Sweet and Sour Chicken - missing the onions and pineapple but a very sizable portion of large, tasty battered chicken paired with juicy and crunchy bell peppers. This is a great new-ish Szechuan restaurant in Bellevue! Even if you're not a fan of spice, they offer a number of items that are mild or have no spice at all. Two of us came in at noon on a Sunday and we were seated immediately. A carafe of water with lemon was already placed on the table and we asked for a pot of tea which was complimentary. Out of their large menu, we selected three dishes which turned out to be a well-balanced meal. The food came out more quickly than expected and the portions were generous! While we polished off the vegetable dish, we had enough noodles and chicken for another serving. + CHONG QING HOT CHICKEN ($21.99): Small fried pieces of chicken came tossed in spicy seasoning and a ton of dried chili peppers. The online menu displays three pepper icons which I'd describe as accurate... I could definitely feel the heat! Despite the moderate tingling, I couldn't stop eating these as the outside was perfectly crispy, the chicken was juicy inside and the pieces weren't too salty either. I just wish the chunks of chicken were larger. Many of them were so small that it felt like I was eating just crust. + HOT & SPICY HAND SHAVEN NOODLES ($15.99): Really good! These noodles are hand-cut, so they come in a variety of lengths and thickness. I asked about the spice level on this dish and the waiter said it's between one and two stars, but you can ask them to make it spicier if you'd like. I personally didn't find them very spicy, especially not compared to the Chong Qing Hot Chicken! The noodles had a nice firm chew and the sauce was addicting too. For our meat option, we chose beef, which was super tender and thinly sliced. An ample amount of cabbage added some crunch. + STIR-FRIED GREEN BEANS ($15.99): These beans were so delicious and tossed with a ton of chopped garlic. This was not spicy at all, but full of flavor. We kept scooping more and more beans onto our plates. The employees who we interacted with were personable and as we packed our leftovers, we asked for a couple cups of hot water to end our meal. The waiter kindly brought them over and also gave us a heads up that the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes at 3:00P, just in case we wanted to order anything else. At 3:00P, the staff all take their lunch break and the restaurant opens back up at 5:00P for dinner. Given the various table sizes, this restaurant can accommodate groups of different sizes. There are many four-person tables, but also a couple larger tables in the front and what appeared to be a separate room behind two doors. Tasty House is another addition to the numerous Szechuan restaurants in the Eastside area, and I was interested in trying the place and seeing how it stacks up to the competition! We went on a Friday around 6pm and had no wait to get seated for a party of 3. This restaurant is located in a large shopping plaza with many other shops and studios, and fortunately there are many parking spots that open near the restaurant that are about a brief walk away. The interior of the restaurant is pretty open - there are plenty of tables and seats and windows at the front for potential diners to observe. The menu is physical and you can order through talking to your server. Food is served fast - we got everything after 10 minutes of waiting. We tried a couple of dishes, which I'll review down below: Seafood Tofu Pot ($27): A good amount of fish and tofu throughout. The tofu is chunky and the fish is soft, though the texture between the two are very similar. There is mushroom and shrimp throughout the dish which provide a different chewy texture that makes the dish not too uniform, which is nice. The sauce is very light in terms of flavor - I know usually seafood tofu pots have a nice subtle flavor of aromatics and chinese flavorings, but it was pretty one-dimensional in terms of flavor with only a bit a savory to make the dish just come together. Mao's Pork Belly ($23): The pork belly was tender and simmered well, decent chew and well covered in the sauce. The sauce tastes like your standard braised Chinese pork belly, with hints of aromatics like cinnamon stick and some star anise. The flavor is a bit light, it is similar to the Seafood tofu pot - you could eat this whole dish without rice and be alright, which is OK, but I personally would like it more flavorful. Assorted Dry Pot ($29): I thought the dry pot was alright, it wasn't my favorite of the three dishes we ordered. There is a decent variety in the assorted dry pot - from woodear, cauliflower, pork, and others. I thought this dish suffers from the same thing as the other two dishes we ordered - it does get one dimensional really quick, with the only flavor being spicy and salty. I was hoping for some smokiness and some standard peppercorn flavor, but unfortunately I didn't get any. Personally, I feel that most of the dishes served were underwhelming - they aren't as well spiced as the many other competing Szechuan restaurants on the Eastside. There is also a missing smoky wok hei that separates solid Szechuan restaurants from a standard restaurants - it gives more "dish you would cook at home" rather than a restaurant quality dish. Which is not a bad thing, but it misses what I'm personally looking for when I go out to eat. I do think that these dishes do lean on the pricier side for the quantity and quality of the food. Though I'm glad that there are more Szechuan restaurants to pick from on the Eastside, I'm not sure I would come back to Tasty House as there are many other Szechuan restaurants that fit more what I'm looking for. read more

One of if not the best Szechuan restaurants in the area. All the dishes we had thus far have been outstanding. The right amount of heat and spiciness. My favorite is the beef and taro with sichuan peppers but the fish with preserved vegetables is also a hit along with the Ching Qing chicken.
