I don't know why I decided to come to this Hell Hole today. I guess today's visit only proves to me that this store should be off-limits at all costs.
I keep getting text messages from Target to remember to use my Mobile Coupon which expires 5/3/2013. So, today, 4/21/2013, I decided to use it for 20% off the "Giada De Laurentiis kitchen item for Target".
The mobile coupon has a barcode at the top, then proceeds to state exactly the following:
"20% off Giada De Laurentiis for Target kitchen item
How to redeem:
Please present the barcode above to your cashier to redeem the offers below it.
Cashier instructions:
Scan product, scan barcode on guest's phone, manually enter barcode in case of scanning error.
Each individual coupon may only be used once."
I have never used this barcode before, and I attempted to purchase a pan by "Giada De Laurentiis kitchen item for Target". However, I was not able to, and I blame Target and the incompetent employees.
The cashier scanned my item. Then she scanned the barcode. It said "invalid" on the screen. She tried again, it still didn't work. She said "No sorry" and proceeded to scan the rest of my items, ignoring my coupon!
I asked her to call for a manager. The manager "Koko" came, and I was optimistic that this would be dealt with professionally and fairly. This was not the case.
He proceeded to scan the item a few times, and also tried to manually type in the barcode number. It still would not work. I read to him the fine print where it instructs the customer to provide the barcode to the cashier for the discount. I also showed the description of the item, showing that it matches. He could not figure out why it would not work, so he gave some lame excuse saying "Sometimes it's for ONLINE items only!"
How does this make any sense? Why would I use a barcoded coupon for an online purchase? How would I "present the barcode above to a cashier" if it's for ONLINE purchases only?
In short, the manager, Koko, gave a ridiculous, illogical, explanation. In the end, he would not allow me to get the 20% off, and I left empty-handed.
Horrible customer service. The manager didn't even say "Sorry" or give any form of apology for it. If they had at least said something like "this item does not apply", or even "our Target store is not participating in this promotion" then I would be happy. But these employees are incompetent, that is all I have to say. read more
