Amazing fried street snacks. We ordered the Popcorn Chicken, Popcorn Fish, and Fried Calamari, everything was on point. I've tried a lot of places, but nothing hits like the flavors at this Tapioca Express. Just a heads up, this location is totally different from the other Tapioca Express spots. Ever since the one in Milpitas closed (same owners as this Union City one, I think), we've been trying other locations, but the recipes just aren't the same. All the fried snacks were juicy, crispy, and full of flavor with the perfect balance of salt and spice. You can pick your spice level from 1 to 5, with 5 being the hottest. I've eaten these dishes plenty of times, and with a good spice tolerance, 3-4 is perfect for me. Overall Verdict: Highly recommend this place. Great flavors, good portions, and solid value for the price. Pro tip: spend an extra $2-3 and grab a milk tea with your order - it's the perfect combo!

Tapicoa Express gives so many memories of my friends and I coming here when we were younger. I was in the shopping center so came by. The menu still looks the same from back then just with a few new added items. They took out most inside seating not really a hang out spot like it was before. Service still bland not really friendly just straight to the point order your stuff and move along lol. Drinks are good, what makes this place different from all the other really good boba places is that they have a huge drink selection.

Been getting boba here since day one. Quality never changed. Mango green tea and taro snow is my go to!! Gracias

Back when I was in highschool, this was the only place to get popcorn chicken and boba drinks. After all these years, they are still Cash Only. (They do accept card but with an additional fee.) I have no loyalty to this place. There are so many options out there -- from CheLo, GongCha, YiFang, BobaQueen etc take your business elsewhere cuz TapEx really ain't what it used to be. I ordered a drink and accidentally forgot to tell them that I didn't want any boba pearls because TBH when I was ordering, the cashier made me feel super rushed. When I realized just a few seconds after walking away from cashier, I went back to notify them. The cashier said the drink was already made -- I know she lying cuz ain't no way!!! And even if it was, take a strainer and take the boba pearls out LOLL I mean, honestly, it's not that hard. And second, where's the customer service?? I get it, it's my fault I didn't say it first to begin with, but c'mon now.

This is definitely one of the best boba places in the Bay Area. I really like their amazing selection and the fact that you have different options for drinks and food. One of my only comments is that the seating area is very limited and there's not a lot of room to "dine" if you wanted to have your drink there. I also feel like if there are a lot of people ordering, your orders can take a while to get to you. Another thing to note is that they close at 7:30 PM and are also closed on Tuesdays, so make sure to check their schedule before going to the store.

They've fallen off is all I can say. I didn't ask for extra crispy on my fish cake and they burnt the hell out of my order. The drink quality is the same as it was before, decent, but as the prices are going up the combos are not worth it anymore :(

Been going here since I was young and quality is still phenomenal. They have the best milk tea and best popcorn chicken here. This was one of my go to spots during my childhood so it's nostalgic every time I come here.

I've been here a total of 3x so far. I bart from SF to visit my friend in Union City and we always make sure to stop by this TapEx!!! It's the only TapEx I've ever tried that was actually good quality. MIND BLOWING. It's one of the main reasons I like coming here (the novelty that it's good because most TE franchise stores pale in comparison). Today I got the house milk tea with mini boba. A major plus for me is they have MINI BOBA. I prefer mini boba but most places don't have it. AND the boba is actually good - soft & chewy. Their service is also so quick! Today, in the blink of an eye, our orders were ready when we had barely walked away from the cashier. Since we were in and out of there, I can't really speak much to the ambiance, but I don't really need to stay in there to drink my boba so it doesn't matter. Hoping to try the popcorn chicken next time because my friend said it's also really good!

One of the OG tapioca shops in the Bay Area, and I've been coming for as long as I can remember. It's definitely changed over the years, with very little indoor seating and becoming more of a take out spot, but it's still very quick and good! The large combo A is my go to, and the fried chicken is amazing. The drinks aren't for everybody, but it's a very nostalgic place for me. I go whenever I'm in the area!

Usually when I have "honey toast" the bread is still bouncy in the middle. The crème brûlée was lacking in flavor. The crepe it self tasted good. It was too thick and hard to cut through (especially since they didn't have plastic knives. There really is no point in serving it as a cone, you might as well serve it flat folded into a triangle. The Nutella was scarce, the chocolate ice cream tasted like it had been in the freezer with the top open. The price is quite steep for the desserts (and the level of disappointment). We didn't try any of the drinks. So if you are there for that, you may have a better experience.

The location is convenient and pretty easy to get to, and parking wasn't too bad, which is always a plus in the area. Inside, the space is super cute and well-decorated, but definitely on the limited seating side. Every time I have been here, it's a lively environment and have also noticied people working so it gives off a casual coffee shop vibe. I have tried the Thai Milk Tea and the Brown Sugar Milk Tea and both were good! I would certainly recommend to get it less sweet and certainly with boba.

Love the diverse menu. I usually get my puff cream milk tea with boba from here and it never disappoints. Creamy and the tea flavor still pulls through. Their boba is also pretty solid without it being overly sweet and relatively soft / chewy. However, I got their double matcha and original vanilla einspanner. Their double matcha had a mild umami flavor and wasn't very sweet. Def more for people who are into matcha for the profile than the sweetness. Loved that matcha foam though. Their einspanner was fireeee. Slightly strong coffee flavor and I enjoyed how the milk foam topping didn't overpower the drink. Would order this again!

While I was at the kiosk, a group of three people came in and a worker greeted them with "Welcome In." I waited 12 minutes for my drink. When they called my name and I went to the counter to pick up my drink, three other halo halo drinks were at the counter for the group that came right after me. I understand that it might be more convenient to make four of the same drinks at once, but as one customer who came in first and ordered just one thing, I should not have to wait 12 minutes for my drink. Especially when there were no customers ahead of me. Plus, I saw 3 workers working there. I didn't understand why it would take so long to make. The upside down halo halo drink was refreshing. Loved the Frosted Flakes on top of the drink. The flan on top was good as well. I didn't care too much about the boba inside as it was super chewy and took awhile to chew. Overall, not a bad drink. While I was dining in, another customer came in and waited several minutes for someone to help them. No employee was at the counter. The customer literally had to try to get someone's attention in the kitchen. As an improvement, I think it would be helpful for one of the employees to be at the counter or at least keep checking now and then for customers. The place didn't close for another hour, so I can't see why they would need to start cleaning so early.

As someone who has been drinking Vietnamese coffee since I was 12 (Im much older now), I am very picky with my Vietnamese coffee. My recommendation is to order your drinks less sweet. It's the perfect level of sweetness. The only tweak I'd make is adding an extra shot of espresso to the coconut coffee. The food, unfortunately, didn't live up to the drinks. I tried a few of the bánh mì sandwiches, and the bread-to-filling ratio was way off. There just wasn't enough filling, and even after ordering extra veggies, it didn't seem like there were actually any extra added. If you're specifically craving a Vietnamese sandwich, I'd recommend driving about a mile up the road to Huong Sandwiches instead. That said, I still want to come back and try more of their food menu because the drinks alone keep bringing me back. The café itself is adorable. I love the modern design and all the greenery throughout the space. It's clean, quiet enough to study or work, and has about 7 small tables, making it ideal for solo visits or small groups of up to four people. I also appreciated the powerful hand dryer in the restroom (it's the little things!) and plenty of parking. Come for the drinks, stay for the atmosphere.
