I stopped in today with some friends and we felt relaxed, although boba shops and the like do tend to get noisy here and there. They also have a few games in the back to play. Just ordered a 20 oz Vietnamese ice coffee with boba. Got my order and the cup look like a grande size Starbucks cup. I even asked, what size it was and they said it was a 20 oz cup, and they all stared at me blankly. They didn't even fill it all the way up. The screen gave options that if you ask for less ice then it says "no ice/less ice, no top off" and if you want your drink topped off then it's an extra charge. So they gave me a 20oz cup with less beverage if you get light ice. I didn't drink anything and poured the entire drink, boba and all, into an empty 12oz tumbler i had in the car. Never again will I come to this franchise. Dont advertise cup sizes and prices if you're not going to fill it up properly. False advertising! Nice response. However, on my most recent visit, I discovered after paying that they now charge you $0.55 cents if you order less ice or no ice. I had questioned that with the cashier, and he was surprised as well! He went and asked another co-worker, and they had said yes, it Tastea started charging about a month ago! The person who made my drink, apologized multiple times about this, as he didn't know himself. He was very nice and provided wonderful service. Also, it would be nice if the parking lot was repaved, as it feels like you are driving on gravel here and not a smooth roadway. Parking lot could also use some lighting, hardly any lighting within the lot. Horrible service. We orders using the kiosk in front of the pickup area. One order arrived with no foam even though we paid for extra foam. Had to ask the highschool kid making the bubble tea to add it which he did. Then my order came out. I paid extra for mango chucks. He ran out of mango chunks and instead of offering me a refund or anything he just hoped I wouldn't notice. I had to point out to him that I had no mango chunks in my drink and he then said that they had run out and he could offer me another fruit instead. It had a watered down consistency and an unpleasant aftertaste that I can only describe as off putting and gross. I have been to the Newark Tastea location before and usually have a decent experience, but this time was incredibly disappointing. I ordered a 32 oz avocado smoothie, but was clearly given the wrong size. When I brought it up to the girl at the counter, she didn't greet me, didn't apologize, and didn't remake the drink. Instead, all she did was pour it into a 32 oz cup and added more boba on top, as if that made up for not giving me the correct size in the first place. The drink still was not filled to the top. The price difference between the sizes is significant, and I didn't spend my money just to get extra boba. I expected the entire drink to be remade correctly or at least blended some more with it, not patched up lazily without any acknowledgment of the mistake. It felt like there was zero care for customer experience. I left feeling ignored and honestly frustrated. I usually order fruit teas at this place which I find more unique than their other offerings but this time I decided to order the coffee. One crazy thing about this place is they have a 32 oz cup that actually fits in a cup holder. Which is insane lol. Service was fast and quick with no delays and got the drinks almost instantly 3.8/5 matcha coffee - Sweet strong coffee with the light bitterness of matcha powder. Not exactly the best but it does the job. Also got some honey boba in it which was pretty decent, it was still warm which improves the texture by a lot. I have been a customer since they opened and last week on 1/14 I purchased my regular hot wintermelon milk tea. I noticed the cup was different and did not have their logo. As I drove home and parked, I took the cup out to take a sip and the bottom sprung a leak and started pouring out all over the center console of my car which has a built in phone charger and touchpad. I quickly put the cup back in the cupholder and watched it fill up my dual cup holder with milk tea. I was fortunate I did not burn myself, but I'm traumatized from the incident. As I was cleaning my car, I called Tastea to inform them of the incident and asked for a refund. I asked to speak to the owner and they said they would convey the message for them to call me. It's been past 1 week now and no call. I am highly disappointed as these types of incidents are very serious and can lead to lawsuits (McDonald's coffee spillage lawsuit). I know Tastea ran out of their regular cups and had to buy replacements and cannot have known the cups are defective. I'm appalled for the lack of acknowledgement that my vehicle center console can have damages from the incident. I am deleting my app and never returning. read more

When I first visited, I thought it was a little sketchy just because my GPS took me through some weird roads & it was dark out already. I'm absolutely obsessed with their avocado avalanche, I don't think I've tried anything else LOL I always get large 'cause their large cup size is MASSIVE & my fiancé and I always share it! You can really taste the avocado and they crush the ice well (sometimes) so you don't end up crunching it in your mouth. Bummed that they don't sell snacks though - wish they did!
