Tapas here are totally amazeballs. Get there on time because there's a line waiting. Staff works really quickly though so tables are juggled and food arrives fast. Most dishes mentioning 'potatoes' contain big fries so don't overdo it on the potato dishes, you'll be buried in fries. The bikini sandwich with truffles is really good, great fresh juices, and the chocolate-olive oil-fleur de sel dessert is to die for. read more

I'd heard so many rave reviews about Tapas 24 that I had to go, even after a failed first attempt on a Sunday. Unfortunately the place didn't blow my mind. The food is good, but I have a hard time distinguishing it from many other tapas restaurants in the city that can serve up just as delicious edibles. We came around 3 and there was still a line. We were able to wait inside the place and in the cramped aisle by the bar. We had la bomba de la barceloneta, truita espanyola amb pernil (omelette with ham), costelles de conill arrebossades (rabbit ribs), bikini comerç 24, lacón ibèric a la gallega (Galician style ham that came above a layer of potatoes), fideus a la cassola (a small pasta casserole), and a special of the day sepionetas (cuttlefish), which was the best thing we ordered but it did cost €16 and had maybe 8 or fewer pieces. It was well cooked and succulent. The rest of the dishes we got were good, but I'm not sure just how much they're different from other restaurants. The rabbit ribs may have been more memorable; they were crunchy and well seasoned, and not a common menu item elsewhere. The place is so compact and busy that it's difficult to expect stellar service usually associated with such celebrity chef-operated establishments. The open kitchen and the bar with diners watching the chefs at work are also reminiscent of a Jose Andres restaurant back stateside. After just short of an hour's wait and €77.50, I was happy that we checked Tapas 24 out while in Barcelona, but would hesitate to revisit next time I'm in town - well, not with another long wait again. read more

Located just off the Passeig de Gracia, this downstairs tapas spot is a winner. We stopped in for lunch around noon and were the only ones in the restaurant. It began to get more crowded by the time we left. A good amount of seating, both at bar tables and at the bar itself. We largely ordered based upon pics in other Yelp reviews and were very happy with all of our choices. Service was attentive and prompt. Pleasant, but not especially warm. Mango/Passionfruit Drink: You will see the small bottles of different flavors sitting in ice on the bar. It was simply mango and passionfruit blended with yogurt. A cool and delicious treat. Bikini Sandwich: Rich and creamy. The saltiness of the ham worked perfectly with the black truffles. A must order. Foie Burger: A fairly small sandwich, but given it's richness (i.e., the foie), it's a shareable portion. Bombe: Fried on the outside, with potato and meat on the inside. Nice side dish. Potatas Bravas: French fries covered in mayo and spicy paprika sauce. Very addictive and delicious. Definitely shareable. Chocolate Dessert: From the Yelp pics, we thought this was going to be gelato. Nope. It is almost the consistency of a thick, somewhat dark, chocolate mousse. Served with olive oil, sea salt, and small wedge-shaped cookies, this was lick-the-plate (we didn't) good. They do a nice espresso too, which was a good accompaniment to the chocolate dessert. We came too early and they weren't serving tapas yet. So we ate their breakfast menu. We asked to look at their taps menu and it was quite similar to the breakfast menu... So we were glad we weren't missing out. We ordered the bikini and calamari sandwich. They serve two calamari sandwiches per order. It was THE BEST sandwich ever..... Calamari with aioli sauce!!! Yummmmmmm!!! Note that I don't think it was on their usual tapas menu, so we are really glad we got it! The bikini sandwich is I'm pretty sure the same as on their tapas menu. We got there just before 9pm and had to wait in line for about 15 mins. The line did eventually get bigger down the street. We were seated outside and had fun people watching. Ordered a few things to share including the patatas bravas, McFoie burgers, a couple croquettes, and sangria. Everything was good but we were not fans of the McFoie...maybe we just don't have refined palates, but it was a bit "livery" for us. MUST try their seafood special if it's available. This is a very popular tapas bar especially around Spanish dinner time ~10:00pm when the lines will wrap around the corner in this basement tapas joint (no reservations can be made ahead). Tapas 24 is known for its inventive / gourmet take on old tapas faves and is run by Charles Abellan who used to work for Ferran Adrià at El Bulli. All the items we ordered here was delicious: -The bikini which is a toasted crispy truffle Iberian ham and buffalo mozza sandwich. (SO GOOD!) -The bravas doused in a spicy tomato sauce and a thick garlic aioli was highly addictive and hard to resist -The spicy tripe stew cooked with chorizo and chickpeas. I love tripe and it is hard to find this delicacy in non-asian restaurants in New York. The tripe stew had a very comfort food feel to it. -The bombes de la Barceloneta is filled with creamy potato and minced beef and topped with aoili and bravas. Really interesting crispy texture and meaty and tender texture when you bite into it. -Lamb skewer: spicy and tender lamb pieces packed with flavor from the curry and mint marinate. We didn't have any room left but I would have loved to try the McFoie burger that I saw the other tables ordering. Me and my girlfriend arrived to tapas 24 at 9 pm. We where prepared for the queue but where still surprised of the amount of people that where queuing outside of the small restaurant. After about 20 minutes of queuing we where offered a table outside (it was raining at the time). We didn't mind the rain since they had parasols so we gladly took the offer. The waiter came pretty much directly and gave us a menu. We ordered some water and 4 different tapas and the waiter, who appeared to be a bit rushed, still took time to explain the menu even though the place was packed. We ordered patatas bravas, the boneless chicken wings, lamb skewer and the bikini sandwich. Everything was a bit salty but yet delicious, especially the bikini sandwich! Overall tapas 24 serves excellent tapas and I would recommend anyone to come here as long as you are prepared to wait for a while before getting a table. read more

Excellent way to cap off a busy day of Barcelona sightseeing, which included Montserrat. The wait here ended up being less than 25 minutes. Still, we were herded from one side of the street to the other because the queue grew a bit unwieldy, so Tapa 24 moved us to soothe the ire of the Restaurant next door (no wait and very little customers at that restaurant). The food was solid and presented with modern interpretations. They have an open kitchen, so we sat, deciphered the menu, placed our orders, and watch the kitchen crew perform their magic from what I would say is a fairly small kitchen. The White Sangria was solid - not watered down but balanced. The bikini sandwich, a small tapas, consisted of a cheese, ham, and truffle. Dainty but packed with flavor. Just enough to wet the appetite for more orders to come. Similarly the McFoie Burger was bite size goodness - smaller than a beef slider, with foie gras and foie gras ganache. The lamb skewer was well seasoned and a nice protein that I did not see much at other restaurants in town. While there were several other dishes including a tasty beef tartare, that was perhaps seasoned too much with dijon mustard, which was a shame as there was no need to mask or distract from the quality of ingredients. The Red Mullet was a pleaser, it was the last dish of the day, the waiter recommended it, lightly battered, lightly seasoned, you can taste the juicy freshness of the fish in one bite. Our experience at Tapas 24 was excellent. My girlfriend and I arrived around 9pm on a Thursday night. The restaurant was crowded, but we got seated quickly. First off, the service was excellent. The waiter realized we didn't speak very good Spanish and assisted us with above average English. He offered us suggestions on the menu (potato salad, jamon bikini sandwich, tomato bread). The food came out in a timely manner. We ordered a plethora of items and didn't feel rushed at all during dinner. -Papa bravos (potato fries w/ spicy sauce) -Iberian jamon (cured ham) -Bikini sandwich (ham and cheese sandwich) -Bomba barceloneta (fried potato ball w/ meat) -Bread with tomato purée -Potato salad w/ fish and olives (award winning) -Sangria Our favorites were the Potato Salad, even though the combination doesn't sound the most appetizing for us Americans, the jamon, and bread w/ tomato puree. After it was all said and done, our waiter gave us recommendations on what else to try when we come back. Couldn't have asked for a better meal to start off our trip in Barcelona! My husband and I have been to Barcelona three times. On our first trip we stumbled upon Tapas 24 our last evening. It was fantastic. We visited several times on the second and ate there six times on the third. We are returning in November 2021 and Tapas 24 is definitely on our agenda. We had a very rude waiter who sworn at us under his breath while taking our order, rolled his eyes multiple times, and it took ages to even get him to take our order in the first place. (He's the tall male with glasses and receding hair line) Mind you, we came in around 12:30PM and the place wasn't even that busy. The food itself is pretty mediocre and has relatively high prices for its portions and taste. DO NOT get the pasta dish with sausage. It was the most unpalatable thing I EVER had. No me gusta. If you want cheap but delicious tapas, go down blai street where tapas and bars and drinks fill the area. Nightlife is strong and most tapas can be found for $1 and a whole feast of 10 or more tapas for about $15. Rather then spending $25 for sangria, and like three small tapa plates (quite delicious) but not full filling and satisfying. I left more hungry then I came. So I went to eat cornesesas cheap sandwiches afterwards that really hit the spot. Don't be fooled by its high reviews! ZOMG! One of our favorite meals in Barcelona- too bad it's our last night :( I was a bit skeptical of the mediocre reviews, but honestly this place was amazing. You wait in line for a table and the hostess brings you wine/ drinks to consume while you are waiting for a spot. I had hoped we'd get a table outside, but we wound up at the bar. Lucky for me we were next to a window that showed the tiny kitchen, so I was able to see all the dishes coming out and ask what they were. They have their standard menu in English, but they also have little chalkboard menus of tapas of the day which are written in Catalan. It's totally worth it for you to ask for translation- ur favorites came off this menu! For two people we shared quite a few dishes, but hey, we took a loooong walk after so no judgement. We shared the chicken croquettes (the best we had in Spain), one bomba (a mashed potato- meatball-mash-up), a bikini sandwich, eggs with chorizo and potato, seared ahi tuna, and the carnitas tacos. Came in for brunch on a Tuesday in September and it was already busy. We were sat at the bar and the waiter chatted us up and gave us recommendations. We ordered the oxtail stew and french fries with broken eggs with jamon. The Oxtail was divine, very tender and the wine sauce was great! The eggs and fries would have been ok, had it not cost me $18. YIKES! But honestly, my favorite thing, out of all the restaurants in Spain, was the pan con tomate. It was the best! I know they are available at every restaurant. But none as good as it was here. A few orders of the bread and the oxtail, with my refreshing gin and tonics... I'm a happy girl! The line seem so long at 8pm on Monday but surprisingly we only waited for 25 minutes. We sat at the bar facing the semi-open kitchen which was great to see the chefs prepared the dishes. All of the tapas we had were not heavy at all so after 7 tapas we are not stuffed and comfortably full. 1) The full body red wine was robust and at 4 euro a glass it was very reasonable. 2) Bikini sandwich was to die for with its grilled panini, warm ham and fragrant truffle. 3) Foie gras burger was cooked a good medium rare with a foie gras paste that was not too rich. 4) Steak tartare was marinated to perfection 5) Deep fried red moll (red-skin fish) were lightly battered and the meat was extremely fresh and soft 6) Grilled lamb skewer was not spicy and not gamey with a nice charred taste 7) Spanish omelet with cured ham was not heavy at all. I would really recommend all tourists to stay away from this establishment. We ordered the tapas that we wanted, but the waitress was very persistent and wanted us to order one of their "specials". The specials were much more expensive than the ordinary menu so we declined her offers, many times. Our food arrived as ordered and it was honestly not that great, but we ate it and decided to go elsewhere for more tapas. When I asked to pay, they tell us that we still have one plate pending. I pointed out that we already had received all our orders, so the waitress brings the specials menu and points at some form of bread for €17 and says that we have ordered it in her recommendation. I pointed out that I didn't order anything from the special menu and that she'll have to take it back. Shortly thereafter a plate of veal arrives at our table. I once again turn it away and (quite loudly) point out that we haven't ordered that. Our waitress takes the plate away and has a male waiter bring the same plate back to us. Once again I turn it away, the waiter is reluctant at first but since other customers are watching us, they take it back. After that they kept us waiting for approx. 10 minutes before I approach one person from the staff and say that I need to be somewhere, so they should either let us pay or we'll leave. Went here the other night around 10:30 pm. There was a small line out the door but the servers let us order drinks and just carry our glasses in line which I thought was cool. The food was perfectly delicious - especially the McFoie burger, the lamb, the ham & cheese sandwiches, and the little calamari. I would note that these are traditional tapas - they are fancier, more innovative versions of old classics mixed with a bit of American cuisine. We adored our server - he was a professional, but easy-going and friendly. Basically, he could give and take a joke, which I appreciate when you're running around. My only issues: #1, there were very few vegetarian dishes. You could order this egg & fries dish sans meat (it reminded me of poutine), and there were a few daily specials, but that was it. I think you have to pay full price for the eggs & fries dish too, even without the meat. #2 - the vegetarian dishes were incredibly expensive. Now, mind you, they were all delicious and perfect tasting (I'm not counting the pan con tomate. that was delicious and reasonably priced at 3 euros), but it would cost like 14 euros for 8 slices of zucchini, or 8 euros for a small bowl of greens with fancy carrots. I'm sure I was paying for the "freshness" of the ingredients, but it was a bit much. So, I'd give it 5 stars, but the prices dropped it to 4. I'd only go there on more special occasions, and I'd only go there once if I was ever in Barca again. If you're into fresh, hip, new-takes on tapas, then I recommend this place. read more

Yeah.. this place was really great. We weren't even hungry, but it was on my "places to try" list so we went. We went at an off time so there was no wait, but it was still packed on the patio with few tables indoors. Yes, as per all reviews the bikini sandwich, the bomba, and the bravas were all so good and worth trying Tapas 24 version of it. The bikini I think was particularly memorable because the texture was so brilliant. The sandwich may seem really small and dinky, but the extra crispy bread paired with the truffle sauce and iberian ham inside just becomes super filling and rich. I would definitely order it again the next time I am around. Some places are frequented by tourists and locals alike for a reason. I would say the food speaks for itself here. read more

Tapas 24 was SO fun! Studying abroad here in Barcelona and stopped by and sat on the bar on a busy Saturday. They have a solid menu and a lengthy daily specials menu. The bar is open to the kitchen where you can see tons of fresh produce and the chefs hard at work. I ordered the Bikinis sandwich (with ham, black truffle, and mozzarella) and it was incredible. Tasted like a fancy grilled cheese! However, it's a little small for a sandwich so I would suggest ordering something else as well. My friends ordered the cevice oyster and croquettes and both were amazing. Honestly, however, what will bring me back is the service! Our bartender/server Sean (or Shawn) was SO inviting and fun! He was telling us about the head chef/owner of the restaurants, showing us the cook book, and even brought us out free olives and shots at the end of the meal!
