Tapas 24 was SO fun! Studying abroad here in Barcelona and stopped by and sat on the bar on a busy Saturday. They have a solid menu and a lengthy daily specials menu. The bar is open to the kitchen where you can see tons of fresh produce and the chefs hard at work. I ordered the Bikinis sandwich (with ham, black truffle, and mozzarella) and it was incredible. Tasted like a fancy grilled cheese! However, it's a little small for a sandwich so I would suggest ordering something else as well. My friends ordered the cevice oyster and croquettes and both were amazing. Honestly, however, what will bring me back is the service! Our bartender/server Sean (or Shawn) was SO inviting and fun! He was telling us about the head chef/owner of the restaurants, showing us the cook book, and even brought us out free olives and shots at the end of the meal! I came here around lunch time and surprisingly did not have to wait for a seat. The restaurant is small and pricy compared to other restaurants that serve tapas but it's well worth the money. I ordered the burger with foie gras and the jamon (ham) with artichokes both were excellent and wish I had more time to order more. The wine selection is of course excellent too. read more

What lost the 5th star was Service. Honestly, I feel the service was so bad I'm being generous to only take 1 star. It started off not great and got worse. The food however was outstanding. Do weigh the options. We (group of 3) walked in followed quickly by a couple. We were quickly say at a table for 6. As soon as we say the couple was sat next to us. The waiter then took the couples order and brought them drinks and their first tapas. Then he took our order. By the end he forgot tapas for us and never came back so the couple could pay. The couple got a waitress to help and then I grabbed her attention and we finished our meal. Terrible service. On to the food... Bombe- was wonderful. The combination of spices and textures really made this one the best for me. The Bravas- was my second favorite. Some of the fries were extra crispy which made them the best. Again great flavor combinations. Pa amb tomaque - also really good. It's a bit salty but I like it that way. McFoie burger and chocolate desert tied and also should be ordered. I'm sure people will be shocked but the ham croquette and bikini sandwich tied for last of what I ordered. Not bad but the others were better. read more

We visited this bar last Wednesday and had a wonderful experience. Their fried anchovies were one of the best we've had in Barcelona so far. Everything was very fresh. We sat at the bar and I could've watched the cooks in action all night long. We hope to visit this place one more time before we return to the States. read more

Worst food ever. Over priced, lacking in taste and not even worth of a bite. They manage to screw up even a regional specialty adding (too much) sauce to french fries portion and calling it patatas bravas is not the way to do it for sure. We were here 4 years ago, when the menues were in spanish and no one heard of this place. Today it was very dissapointing. The dishes were 2 times more expencive, the food was o.k but not worth the money. We go a 82eur bill and were still hongrey. I would only reccomend it for having a dring ans a snack. Tapas 24 is very popular. Lots of people seated outside (street café set up) and inside (downstairs) where there are tables and a bar. When I say bar, I mostly mean a bar like you would find in a diner. A lot of the food preparation is done here and there is a window into the area where hot plates are assembled. We had the jamón ibérico and bombas and beers - all good. Sitting at the bar allows one to watch the kitchen - in particular the cold preparations, I learned something here that I'll definitely use. They slice a smallish baguette lengthwise and then smear it with a halved tomato, sort of like if you were rubbing a potato over a grater. Then a little olive oil and under the broiler to toast it a bit. Really simple and flavorful. I've looked it up and its definitely a "thing." How cool to discover it in practice instead of in a book or on TV. Thanks Tapas 24! read more

Yes yes, come here, wait in line. It'll go quicklier than you think it would. Just wait, and get the bikini and the ox tail and everything else that people get. Save up to eat here. Tourists, don't be deceived! This is one of the worst tapas places in town. Food might not be too bad, but it's definitely overpriced and the service is horrendous!!! Two of us read praises about Tapas 24 in Lonely Planet, confirmed by the below reviews on Yelp. First night we tried to get in, the restaurant was packed with a long line of people waiting outside - we throught it was a sign that it was definitely worth it. Next day we came early, keen to get a spot at this top rated place. There were plenty of tables available both outside and inlide, but they still made us wait more than 15-20 minutes, just because... When we finally sat down and started ordering, we noticed that dishes were definitely overpriced and there were no locals at the tables around us. We were surrounded by Americans and Eastern Europeans and we did not hear any Spanish / Catalan, besides our waiter who spoke nothing else. We are American / Eastern European ourselves, so nothing bad about being around our own people, but when in a foreign country it is generally nice to feel not like you are back home but like you are living the life of the locals. Bottom line, food was not bad but portions were definitely too small for the price we paid and the service was plainly quite bad. The waiter ran around in circles always making us wait forever for anything we asked for, including the bill. We were still hungry after dinner at Tapas 24, so we went to another place down the street which was half as busy, half as expensive and so much better, both food and service! (Mas Q Menos at Consell de Cent 329) We are really not too hard to please and feel a little bad writing such a harsh review. We came here twice during our short stay. We came for a quiet late lunch and then again at 11:45PM on another evening. There was a wait at 11:45PM and the restaurant closes at midnight, that should speak for its popularity with locals as well as tourists. This tiny tapas bar is pricey and definitely not the best, but they have an interesting take on many typical tapas. The food here is salty, great if you've been drinking, and in general, more flavorful than most food we had in Barcelona. The most notable items were the baby octopus, zucchini slices, and the dried, salted cod tapas. The others were all just okay. They have my favorite Catalan tomato bread in Barcelona. My least favorite dish was definitely their version of tacos filled with cochinita pibil. This was flavorless and disappointing. read more

The French couple next to us ordered this TWICE because it's that good. - bombes de la barceloneta - a potato with meat inside. order one per person! - bikini - a small sandwich with ham, black truffles, and mozzarella inside - McFoie Burger - a small beef hamburger with foie gras Also check their chalkboard for specials. I ended up at Tapas 24 thanks to Yelp. The reviews were so good I had to try it. It was very much worth the walk. The tapas were very good, fast, and fresh. I'd say get there early if you hungry in the evening because the wait time is long. I went for lunch by myself and still had to wait for a seat at the counter. Tapas 24 was so good we went twice during our stay, read lots of reviews on where to eat in Barcelona and this was one of it, I believe the chef is a product of El Buili so it must be good! We tried a lot of tapas, the toursity ones, the small local ones and another pretty decent one in St. Joseph market, but they couldn't compare to Tapas 24. They are jam packed busy so don't expect 5 star service but it wasn't rude and they even went over the specials menu which was all in Spanish. Everything on the menu is great but would definitely advise to get the tomato bread, it seems so basic as all they do is toast baguette and rub tomato on it and olive oil but it taste amazing!! read more

This has to be one of the best tapas restaurants in Barcelona. Almost everything is well done, the craftmanship of what they serve is awesome. It reminded me of what is being served back home in Portland. This is not like your run of the mill- tourist- trap tapas restaurants which is uninspired, expensive and bland. Believe the hype from the guide books, this place is so gooooooooooooood. Located right off the Passeig de Gracia, it would be easy for this place to become complacent as a tourist trap, but Tapas 24 maintains their "A" game. There are tons of great foodie options in Barcelona, but this place gave me quite possibly the "best bite" during my whole week there. Was it Iberico Ham? Cuttlefish? Sardines? Nope. The best bite came from an unassuming potato croquette. Nothing special on the outside, but man, the inside was so unbelievably creamy, gooey, and buttery (in a good way - imagine a savory, potato-product version of a cracked open Cadbury egg and you'd be on the right track) I want to hop on a plane for 12 hours just to get another taste. That's not to say the other stuff wasn't good either - everything was delicious. But if you come here, I implore you to try the croquette. read more

At most places in Barcelona, the bikini is like a basic grilled ham and cheese. Tapas 24's one is to die for. Crazy expensive at 9.50 euros, but it was so good we had another! The top quality ham and cheese, plus the layer of black truffles just takes this to a crazy good level! Other highlights were their tacos with an unknown shredded meat and their spicy kebab stick. Potatoes bravas and croquettes are good but nothing that different from others in town. Get a seat inside and you can watch the chefs at work! Solid tapas place. This was an Incredible Dinning Experience in Barcelona and our Favorite Restaurant stop. I went to Spain In November of 2011 so this review is way over due. Everything we sampled was so delicious. Most of our food experiences in Barcelona were okay, just endless Tapas Bars in the most touristy areas but we found this restaurant in our travel book as a place not to be missed and away from the tourist crowd and more of a locals gem. Do not skip the dessert- Sea Salted Chocolate sitting in a plate of Olive Oil with a Crispy Bread to scoop it up with. I never had anything like this. Also one of my favorites was the Flank Steak sitting in a very juicy sauce. I can only post pictures of my trip here to describe fully how beautiful and flavorful this food was. Do not waste your money for this restaurant. The taste of food is even poorer than to be called mediocre, clumsily plated and overly salted in general. The "Grilled Prawn" was such a disaster(please refer to the attached photo); I had one bite and it was like eating a spoonful of salt in my mouth and completely un-edible. So I returned the dish but was refused to take it out of my bill as "it is supposed to be perfect" for them, the manager(?) said proudly. Definitely not worthy of your money, time, and energy. If you want to try some Spanish Tapas in the city, try them in the Barceloneta area. There are tens of good restaurants with reasonable price and decent taste. Wow delicious!!! I sure hate European portion sizes the fat American I am but the flavor was spectacular in every dish. 1. Lamb skewer: so... Juicy... The herbs on this made it unique and balanced the inherit greasy goodness. 2. Croquettes: try them both! The chicken one was kind of like a chicken stew, very delightful and different. Altho other croquette is better if u had to only pick one. 3. Rice and meatball clay pot thing: I only wish there was more... So delicious 4. Beef stew: so salty but god so good- how is this so good?????? Went especially well with some rice. It was so flavorful we may as well have licked the plate. 5. Damn I wish I remember what this was called but it's their famous meatball and I think potato dish, Delish 7. Probably my favorite: the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. By GOD that flavor... AMAZING.. 6. Chocolate and oil with wafer cookie: super dense and heavy chocolate. It was fluffy and a overall delightful texture. Interesting to try but I can't say amazing... Now. I am serious when I say these portions are small. like super small. I would share a plate between 2 hungry people or 3 semi hungry people. Very fun and unique Tapas that was some of the best food I have had while in Barcelona. I went with a group of four and sampled a large amount of dishes. Some highlights: Bikini Sandwich: A great riff on a ham and cheese instead using serrano ham and a little black truffle in the mix to a add a beautiful earthiness. Mcfoie Burger- This magical concoction was ridiculous. Yes it was a hamburger yet it had foie mixed in the patty with a foie gras dipping sauce that just brought it all over the top. Patatas Bravas- Really well done version of the classic. Nothing too complex yet the aoili and hot sauce worked beautifully together. Crouquettas- How could cheese and ham deep fried go wrong? Well it didn't and it was damn good. The chocolate and olive oil dessert was a perfect balance between sweet and salty. My dining companion described the dish as "sexy." Overall I was really please with my experience at Tapas 24. The food was unique, different and had great flavors. Yah it was pricier than other tapas places, but the ingredients were top notch and everything we had was great. read more

One of the trendier places we went to in Barcelona - which explains the higher prices. We didn't know better because it was the first place we hit when we arrived. We were worried about the crowds, so came a little "earlier" at 6:15 to miss the late dinner crowd (even when we left at 7:30, it wasn't too bad). MCFOIE BURGER - A foie gras burger?! Coming from California where foie gras is now banned, HAD to get this. It was decadent and good but I prefer the bikini! Braves - thick cut fries with spicy sauce and aioli - good but not amazing after the bikini Ous Estrellast al Gust with chorizo - similar to bravas - thick cut fries with scrambled eggs with your choice of bacon, ham or chorizo, we chose chorizo - would have loved this with the Bravas sauces (!) Baby grilled squid - in ink sauce Salted chocolate on olive oil - Super rich, great flavor with the oil but to rich to finish (2 scoops may have been perfect). We edned up picking out the salt. All in all, a good dining experience. Would we come back...? Seriously, maybe just for the bikini (if ever in Barcelona again), but honestly for the price, there are a few other local tapas places I would rather revisit. read more

I had so many friends recommend this place, but I found the food to be very average and pretty salty. Also, there are very few things for vegetarians. The staff is super-nice and I appreciated that it was a very orderly queue to get a seat. The cava and red wine by the glass were tasty. Patatas bravas were French fries with sauce that wasn't overly flavorful, the bread with tomato was mainly salty, and the spicy lamb also wasn't really spicy. Service is mediocre but it is fun to sit downstairs and watch the action in the kitchen. A definite must for those fellow yelpers who are addicted to tapas. While in Barcelona, Spain, I had the opportunity to eat at a true, Catalan tapas bar....and I was definitely anxious to get there from our hotel. However, expect a wait of 30-40 minutes, but once in, ur in absolute bliss. There's only a few tables and a pretty lengthy bar in which to sample all the appetizers and snacks. The place was small and it was absolutely crowded which didn't really bother me, since the food was so damn good. The service was acceptable, but not amazing. The atmosphere is quite congested, it's in a basement or cellar which doesn't give you a whole lot of wiggle room. By far, me favourite of the tapas I ate was the grilled cheese wiv buffalo mozzarella and truffles...holy hell that's some good eatin. Another amazing item was the mcfoie hamburger, it was definitely a classic. It consists of duck liver on top of a ground beef patty, yummy. The meat and potato balls, called Bombes were excellent and me and my friend polished them right off, she actually had the nerve to ask the people sitting next to us, if it was ok to have some of their Bombes ;) she has some bigger cajones than me :) The ham croquettes was another really delicious appetizer. There's soo many tapas to choose from, you get almost "tapas drunk". The wines were truly one of the bright stars of the bar. We sampled three different wines and all were phenominal, great wine selection. For dessert we both had the chocolate wiv sea salt, which comes wiv olive oil and bread; but the chocolate & sea salt alone was truly outstanding. This was truly an incredible experience that I hope more people have the opportunity to encouter. No comparision to several other tapas bars that me frequent. Worth the wait; yes it is a trendy, touristier place, but the food was out of this world good. They servers came by and made sure we had drinks (try the Moritz beer, a local BCN brew) while we waited. They are extremely busy all the time, so don't expect them to be the friendliest or the most accommodating. Get ready to get close with your neighbors. People will ask you how your food is and what you ordered. If you order one thing, it must be the Bikini sandwich. It is a masterful pressed sandwich with mozzarella, truffle and ham (the good Spanish stuff). It is a blend of toasty, creamy, earthy, salty goodness. It is one of my all time favorite sandwiches!! The Pardon Peppers, Huevos Rotos and Patas Bravas are great here if you want traditional Spanish fare. The ceviche was dynamite (we got the last serving at 8ish).
