Tapas 24 is just northwest of Las Ramblas, located at the NW-corner of Passeig de Gracias & Carrer de la Diputacio. Look for the Adolfo Domingues clothing store and this tapas heaven is just to the right with the yellow umbrellas for outdoor seating with steps to the basement where the mother-restaurant is located. My husband and I loved this spot. It was the perfect place to get some cervezas y tapas around mid day. The staff is very friendly, and you just have to be forward about asking for what you want......we sat for about 15 minutes and realized that waiters will make fun conversation with you, but won't be too forward about taking your order until you simply start making requests. They speak English, but are really receptive to you trying to speak Spanish if you want to try your hand at fluency. We sat at the bar with our 9 month in tow (she sat ON the bar) and ordered the "Bombs of Barcelona". This particular plate of two tapas consisted of fried potato balls with minced meat in the center. The balls were topped off with some fancy red spicy sauce and white mayo concoction to cut the heat. Holy mole, I need to find this recipe and try to recreate it now that we're home. One other recommendation is to get their fresh juice. We requested the apple juice for our baby girl, and I drank half of it. Who knew juice could taste like a milk shake, hold the milk? Dont let the long line discourage you! We got there early in Barcelona time, around 1900. There were already people waiting and as I found this place on Yelp, I felt I had to wait and see it for myself. We made friends with the waiter's as they did their hustle and bustle of food and drinks up and down the stairs to the people eating outside. We were given glasses of wine to drink while we waited and eventually we were seated at the bar. The waiter's behind the bar were ever busy and constantly running around. We had a nice guy who translated everything for us and was calm when taking our order. We had the special of the night which was lettuce cups... so amazing. Grilled for a few seconds with ponzo sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and scallions. I had 2 orders of that! Next was the asparagus, but it isnt the normal kind we are use to, its a wild white fat asparagus. Cut in half with a miso sauce inside and orchid flowers on top. Then there was the bread man! He looked like he had the easiest job!! Cutting up slices of bread, smearing the tomato and garlic on it and serving it! Everyone else was running around trying to function and we had the pefect view of him just making bread. We ordered drinks and more food and then there was dessert. Little bro ordered the Ice Cream sandwich, it was nothing special. But the chocolate with olive oil, salt and crackers was the most creamy, rich, delicious dessert I have ever had. I ate that and dipped it into the Peach whipped cream ice cream thing. By the time we finished, It was a pricy but incredible meal. The line was out the door and people were easily frustrated. My brother was so sure it would be great because 2 friends recommended it, Rickie Steve's wrote it in his book, and yelp gave it 4 stars! The fact that another Rickie Steve's recommended restaurant served mediocre food was an indication that any place he recommended in his damn books would suck. * Bikini - toasted sandwich with cheese, Iberian ham (?) and truffle. These were sooo tiny! The taste was pretty good but even though the cheese appeared melted, it was hardened and the whole thing was cold! Not worth €8,50 at all. * Bomb - fried ball with potato and meatball inside. It was pretty tasty but also salty. * Pasta - tiny, macaroni in some sauce with sausages. The dish makes it appear big until you realize its more like a plate than a deep dish. Meat was tender while the pasta was super soggy. €12. I do agree with another commenter that it does resemble Hamburger helper. * Fried rabbit ribs - I didn't try but this was my dad's fave tapa. He said it was super crispy. * Iberico ham - a disappointment. It had the texture of old/dry salami and the taste of a hybrid salami/Chinese lop cheung to me. I don't get the hype for this? €14. * Ox tail - really tasty and tender meat. Reminds me of the stuff in Chinatown, especially cause it has daikon radish though so it wasn't anything special or unique to me. Again, super, super salty. * Water - in a tiny bottle. 2€. Sucks cause everything was filled with sodium. * Sangria - served in a glass with some citrus fruits. I've made better. €6. *** SERVICE - You'd think that if the food was so mediocre, it should at least be compensated by great service, right? NOPE. The waitress was extremely curt and RUDE. She had the bitchiest face and looked like serving us was the last thing she wanted to do. How did she even get hired?? She literally threw the food onto the table and walk away immediately. Threw as in, she didn't make sure the plate was safely placed on the table before letting go of the plate. I know people say this about some servers but i always thought it was an exaggeration! She had an impatient look on her face when taking our orders and it got worse when we asked any questions cause she'd look away while she waited for our response back. When we paid the bill, she said "OK". No gratitude whatsoever! Where is my " have a great night"??? She didn't even deserve a tip. If you're still keen on trying this OVERPRICED and way OVERHYPED tourist trap after my review, at the very least, avoid the woman with brown hair in a ponytail with DKNY black frames to save your sanity. read more

One of the most delicious Tapas Restaurants I've visited in Spain. It's worth the wait - and they serve drinks to those in line to keep you happy. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, with simple and delicious seasoning (there were also a few more experimental dishes that everyone raves about, but the McFoie was not appropriate for pescatarian diners!) From the first dish of pa amb tomàquet, I was in love. How can they make bread and tomatoes taste that good? The highlight of our meal was gambas a la plancha - delicious grilled prawns. They were so fresh, and so perfectly cooked - possibly the best seafood I've ever had. It was so good, we decided to splurge on dinner at the chef's other restaurant, Comerç 24... where we unfortunately had a horrible experience. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Barcelona. read more

This place was hopping on a Friday night. Kudos to Yelp & Lonely Planet for the recommendation. My hotel was located down the street, so this was a convenient meal my first evening during a short visit to Barcelona. There was a short wait as we got there before the late-dining locals. Arriving around 8:30, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table for 4, and we were lucky enough to score an outside table. Even on a March evening, it was comfortable, in part due to the heating lamps above the table. I ended up ordering a nice glass of white wine, once I learned that my first choice (the sangria) was not served by the glass, but by the liter. Unfortunately, none of my dining companions were interested in sangria. Oh well, the white wine was just fine. None of us were super hungry, so the smaller plates turned out to be perfect. I ordered the Bikini Comerç 24. A ham and cheese panino, crust removed, with black truffles. It was rich and decadent tasting, I enjoyed immensely. One of my fellow diners ordered the chicken croquettes (you can choose how many you would like). I sampled a bite and despite being fried it didn't have an oily taste to it. Another solid choice. Another dining companion allowed me to sample the paella he ordered. The broth was quite flavorful and didn't have a fishy taste to it. Another diner ordered the rabbit, which I didn't sample, but seemed to have a lot of bones to it. Nonetheless, the diner enjoyed it. Service was a bit brusque. Our server, who yes was busy with many tables, seemed to always be rushing around. I ordered a small bottle of sparkling water which he forgot to bring, until I kindly reminded him. Located off passage de Garcia so good for a shopping break. Atmosphere is loud busy casual tapas bar. If you are around Passieg de Gracia, please skip the other tourist trap Tapas places, place yourself in line and eat here. Every tapas plate was very good or excellent and the staff were all helpful with their recommendations. I recommend the Bombas, Bikini sandwich and if they have the Porc Rib in lettuce cups or the Porc Tacos, those were both incredibly good. We went at 12:00 (noon) and were able to sit right away. Finding good food in tourist towns is difficult, but Tapas 24 makes me feel like I'm back home in San Francisco. After establishing a good baseline at Cerveceria Catalana, we went here for more Tapas in the evening. There was a line outside but after about 5mins we were offered seats at the bar. After getting the menus and such we ordered a Bomba, the Iberian ham croquettes, the bikini sandwich and the chicken wings (and a round of chicken croquettes afterwards). The Iberian ham croquettes were miles better than the ones at Cerveceria Catalana, the bomba was really nice too. The chicken wings were sadly a bit too salty. Both my gf and I agreed the bikini sandwich was completely dominated by the black truffle flavour which ruined it. The fruit juices, while on the expensive side, were good too. The next day we returned around noon to try out a few more things and revisit some of our favourites (bomba and ham croquettes). We then ordered the deep fried potatoes with egg and iberian ham (yum), the bread with tomatoes (simple but brilliant) and some deep fried baby squid (really good too). I'd definitely go here again next time I am in Barcelona. read more

Food here is good but the value is not. For two people, we had 2 tapas and 2 waters (€2 each water). Paid about €18 total. We ordered the lamb skewers and the lentil chorizo dish which another yelper commented that was pretty good. The lamb was good but the lentil dish was ok. Very plain tasting and definitely not worth the €8.20 for the small amount. You can probably find another place with better value for lunch. read more

I headed to this location after my friends raved about it! I honestly loved the experience. They do not take reservations so you have to wait in a line and waiters and patrons are constantly rushing past you, so be forewarned this isn't a quiet date spot, it's loud it's lively and it's fun. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table for 2, we ended up sitting at the bar in the restaurant. I ordered the white sangria to drink it's quite sweet but refreshing. Our food was amazing, we started with the Croquetes de permit Iberic, bikini comerc 24(ham sandwich), piesa iberica aub chimichurri (steak)!, alitas de pollastre amb salsa coreana (chicken wings) and then we ordered bravas which were spicy French fries and finished with rabo de toro (beef) when we realized we needed a little extra something to be full. Tapas 24 was one of our favorite tapas restaurants while visiting Barcelona. From the super friendly and helpful waiter (we had the same server both times!) to the nice outdoor seating, you really cant go wrong here. Its best to try a bunch of things and ask what the servers favorites are. We all loved the steak cut thin with chimichurri, eggplant with honey, and of course the ham croquettes. If you can sit outside, grab a table, its the perfect spot to people watch and enjoy the sun. We sat at the bar and ordered more than I can remember - truflled cheese sandwich, squash soup, grilled calamari, thinly sliced beef, and black rice. For dessert we had cheese, chocolate w/ olive oil and sea salt and another fruity cake which was pretty good. The food was amazing! All of it. Except for some funky shrimp we sent back and quickly learned you don't send food back in Europe - sending food back = cranky waiter and getting kicked out in the rain when they close. Oops. Sit outside, ordered 2 cafes, churros, oxtail stew(not sure why it's on breakfast menu), and fried potato with eggs/bacon. Cafes - very good, i enjoy coffees here than those in Starbucks! Churros - small but was 2.5euros, topped with sugar which i shaked off, it was good though Oxtail soup - tasty and flavorful, but for the cost 16 euros, and it was warm not hot, i guess they could have done better. And is it weird that they offer oxtail stew for breakfast? Fried potato w/ eggs/bacon - terrible, it was so greasy i couldn't eat much. This is the only dish we didnt even attempt to eat it. Tapas24 never ceases to amaze! Everything here is sooo good and it calls for repeat visits. Despite being a tourist spot, Tapas 24 doesn't serve made for tourist fare. Quality and unique tapas are the big draw. Like their Mcfoie - a mini crispy burger with a to-die-for foie gras cream served on the side - is just heavenly. The smashed eggs and chorizo on fries are amazing too. And if there is space, try the choc tart with olive oil. Yeah, you may find your arteries clogging up, but perhaps a cava or a Spanish red will help! read more

Tapas 24 is a great choice if you're ever in BCN. One dish that takes the cake is the quail legs - perfection. Quail legs can be dry and game-y, but this was not the case. That salty sweet sauce is addicting! I also recommend the "bikini" - a black truffle, cheese and ham sandwich. Lamb skewers were well seasoned and well-cooked. The foie gras burger was essentially a plain hamburger with foie gras butter accompaniment. The burger itself was moist and flavorful, even more so when you add in the foie butter. On that note: I love foie gras, but the french fries topped with egg and foie gras can be skipped. The fries were soggy, and the dish overall was oily and lacked salt. They are very busy, but both times we came, we were able to be seated within 20 minutes. With that said, this isn't the kind of restaurant you go to for fine-dining service. The waiters are constantly running the food and taking orders, but we received everything we needed, and never felt neglected. Protip: if you're dining outside, in a table closest to the sidewalk, be aware of your wallets/ purses/ phone. The waiter kindly reminded us when we sat down. Better safe than sorry :) read more

This was my first tapas in Spain experience. After a long, unsuccessful day of trying to find food after we landed (we arrived at Las Ramblas right around "siesta"...what luck!), Tapas 24 was such an amazing treat. The jamon, the octopus, the cava sangria and of course the pan con tomate really hit the spot. The food is fairly simple, and almost seems provincial, which is refreshing to find in a large, tourist city. It gets crowded, but it is worth the wait. It's not big nor fancy, but its a great place to share great food and drinks with friends. read more

Tapas are nothing more than what you can get at any other place, and are in no way worth the 45 min wait in the line outside (from 8.30/9pm onwards) They offer drink service in the line which is a plus, but the tapas really disappointed me, especially based on the reviews. This is a shame because the decoration and atmosphere is great, but the food..meh. I have eaten at better places in Barcelona Hardly any locals either. Went with the best of expectations, having seen the reviews. Wine was great. Service fine. This will go down as a memorable worst meal ever. Grilled prawns not cooked, paella with 4 shrimp and a sauce that tasted as as if they cooked with 4 ramen flavor packets. Beef and mushrooms drowned in a brown sauce. The 1 star is for our being able to cite it as the most salted and horrible meal any of our party of 4 have ever experienced. Just a warning to anyone that appreciates a good meal. read more

Delicious! then in any random order; Llenties estofades amb xorico (Stewed brown lentil with chorizo),Bikini comerc 24 (warm sandwich with black truffles, cured lberian ham and buffalo mozzarella), Croquetes de pernil iberic (Iberian ham croquettes), and last but not least the fish taco's (I have no idea the name). My suggestion is to go early for lunch, we had no problem being seated but by the time we left, there was a line out the door. Highlights of are meal include the Bikini Comerc sandwich. It was simple and absolutely delicious. The McFoie Burger was good, but didn't blow us away most likely since we had gone to Paris before where the Foie is plentiful and delicious. We really loved the the tapa d'or - essentially smashed tomatoes and olive oil with bread for dipping. Again, simple but delicious. My absolute favorite was the Oust Estrellast al Gust. We had one with chorizo and one with iberico ham. It's pretty difficult to go wrong with fries, eggs, and meat. They don't take American Express and the service was sub par. I got the bikinis, chicken croquettes, and the bomba - which were all really good. Ordered a pan con tomate and it never came out (which was probably a good thing) Also had extremely annoying local diners sitting next to me, watching my every move. Made me really uncomfortable. I know it's not the restaurants fault but I've never experienced that kind of rudeness because it was obvious they were talking about me in Spanish and complaining about something. Even when I pulled my bar chair out the guy was clearly annoyed. I did nothing but was clearly targeted because I was a tourist. Sadly, this affected my overall dining experience here. read more
