I seen this place in a post on social media and thought it was cool and interesting. I ordered the smash burger and it was delicious. I would definitely come back to check out other menu items. They do charge 20% service charge to your bill that allows the business to pay their employees higher wages. Also, there are no servers so you order yourself via QR code.

Could rate higher but I haven't tried the food. My wife and I were tricked into spending an evening here when we decided to"hey let's go grab 1 beer." The intent was "1 beer" I say again un cervesa. Unfortunately we walked unworn 30 min left in happy hour and just as we were getting ready to pack up they said trivia was starting so we stayed for another 2 hours. Great time though and a fun spot for anyone in the neighbourhood. The good: for a place where you serve yourself service was really good. Staff were Quick to clear glasses and friendly whenever someone had issues with the tap system. The selection, ok so it's tap 99 they have 99 taps you serve yourself from. These are not all beer taps though, they have a good number of ciders a couple wines and even some cocktails on tap if you are brave or crazy enough to try such a thing. The atmosphere, it was a Monday night so the place was fairly quiet but they had 6 teams in for trivia and it was a fun space for the event. The mediocre: beer selection I think mixing the taps to have more than beer on offer is nice for groups but that does mean fewer taps with beer, the beers do rotate but when we were there it was a lot of sours and some juice IPAs. The bad: nothing stood out as unpleasant I'll have to try the food next time I'm in.

Tap99 is a amazing place to bring your friends and have a bunch of drinks. It is a self pour bar with beers and cocktails. Cranberry side car - 10/10 Spicy Margarita- 10/10 Christmas mule 10/10 Light and cloudy 10/10 Sticky situation - this beer is berry and sour. If you like that, this drink is for you Berry Monkey - I was not the biggest fan of it because it was way too sour for me Minkle doodle is a no for me. It has the taste of only sour Game on is a very calm tasting fruit beer. Out of most of the fruit beers, this would be my choice It's berries - is a sour beer with a mild taste Man eating toast 10/10 It is hard to rate liquor because everyone has their own preference. This place is worth checking out and trying the different varieties. Like me, you may find cocktails and beers you thought you would never like. The ambiance is great with a rustic look, cheerful atmosphere, and overall welcoming vibe. The entire staff was friendly and attentive from the workers to management and even the owners. You will absolutely enjoy yourself

The steak was delicious and had that perfect crust on the outside. I tried it with their house sauce and it added a nice kick. The mashed potatoes were creamy and a good balance to the richness of the meat. We were seated right away and our server was kind and helpful. The lighting in the restaurant gave it a cozy feel. I left full and happy. Definitely recommend if you're nearby.

Right in front of the Nationals Ballpark we saw Tap99. What absolutely drew our attention was the Big a** mozzarella sticks (yes they are actually called that)! So we immediately went inside and saw that it was a pour it yourself beer, liquor and shots restaurant as well! We got a demonstration on how to use the machine to pour whatever you want and then we were off to the races. There is a ton of seating both inside and out. Outside has covered seating across from the sidewalk as well which was great! We ordered the totchos, jumbo wings in honey bbq and of course the mozzarella sticks that lured us to this spot. For drinks we ordered various margaritas that poured perfectly in the glass every time. My favorite was the strawberry margaritas. They weren't too sour and had a bit of a sweet flavor to them. We also tried the lemon drop shots you can pour yourself and they were really well done. For the food, everything we ordered was delicious. Those three things turned out to be a ton of food. I really liked the bacon and cheese on the tots, the wings has a great sauce and tons of meat on each one, and the mozzarella sticks were incredible. I was just astonished by how much cheese filled each one and how little breading was needed to hold it all together. It also did a perfect cheese pull with every bite and had some sprinkled cheese on top of them. They were so large we had to conquer them by cutting off bites. I would totally recommend them to anyone that enjoys eating mozzarella sticks. Overall, this spot was incredible, so many people there but also so many taps that you never have to wait in a line to get a drink. I definitely want to come back here again at some point soon!

There are so many choices for your pre-game dining at a Nationals game, but this one looked good and seemed a little less busy than some of the others (and there was an outdoor table available) so we gave it a shot. We loved the concept for the drinks - you basically go in and get a card that opens your account and allows you to access the wide variety of self-serve taps, for virtually any drink you can imagine. You pay buy the ounce, so you can try a variety of things and pick any size you want. We were in the mood for "bar food" so we selected a few things from the Shareables menu - Mini Corn Dogs, Chicken Empanadas and Fried Zucchini Sticks (we had to get some vegetables in ). They were all really good - I liked the corn dogs the best! Even better, you place your food order from a QR code at your table. Then, the food gets delivered quickly and you can pay from your phone, too! Super efficient and easy to use! They also have a large outdoor seating area and a lot of the tables are community style, so you just grab the seats you need and sit with whoever else sits down. A perfect pre-game experience!

Not sure what to drink, and... want to taste test a few ales, IPA's or cider? Come on in, the wall of taps, literally 99 offers your group a variety of experiences. Staff are friendly, welcoming and explain the process to you. You pay for what you drink, whether it's an ounce or a pint. Although we didn't have any food, the menu is basic bar food.

It's always a pleasure to hit up Tapp99. It's something about being able to pour your own beer. Indulging in beers from IPA's to domestics and foreign lagers. I'm always looking to see up dates and lately I have. They have a better option on ounces and also it stop at just that pour and doesn't go over like it used to do. I still haven't ate any of the foods here due to the simple fact I come to throw some beers and spirits back.

Skeptical, I assumed Tap99 was a basic sports bar catering to the Nats Park crowd on an oversaturated street. I was wrong. It's unique concept of 99 self-pour beers on tap won me over. My wife, five-year-old daughter, and I stopped in to watch the USA v. Netherlands World Cup game. It was crowded, but we found room to stand. We ordered only drinks and 99 to pick from is impressive. Being a sour ale guy, not many bars have more than one to pick from. Tap99 has nine sours to choose from more sour to more sweet. And they have six hard ciders on tap. How it works is you get a card that keeps track of your pours per ounce. You can try a sip of them all if you want and then settle in on one or two. Genius.

Chicken Empanadas and Tuna Poke Nachos
    Thomas G.

Every item of food simply exceeded expectations. The chicken empanadas were cheesier than they were meaty which is less authentic of a filling, but the sauce and crust matched what I would expect. The cauliflower bites could convert someone beginning a vegan journey because they were delicious and the crust and sauce gave the flavor of wings (of course they're missing the meat flavor). My absolute favorite was the Poke nachos. I would order them again and again because of the crispness of the Asian-style nachos and the poke and sauce. I enjoyed both beers that I had, one Bloodline Blood Orange Nitro and one Oak Barrel Stout. The mixed drinks that I started out with, on the other hand, were not so good. We started with a toast (green tea shot) and my first sample was 1oz of maple old fashioned neither which I would order again or recommend. Next time, I'd stick with beer and food and I would be highly satisfied!

Tap99 is a wonderful place to grab drinks with friends, enjoy some finger goods, and vibe to the music. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was happy hour. You can try anything for just a few cents or fill up your cup for a couple of bucks. There's an array of beer options to choose from, a few margarita options, and a few wine options. Service was great. They're located next door to Kilwins and there's a corridor you can take to walk next door and grab a sweet treat. You can even order it at your table and they'll bring it to you. The food was alright to me. The French fries were nice, reminiscent of five guys fries. The onion rings were good, no complaints. The chicken wings were just alright in my opinion, however, if you need to eat before drinking, then you'll be fine. Overall, ten out of ten experience !

Cool set up for a sports bar with the pour your own beer. Tons of different beer options and even cocktails on tap. Good outdoor seating, kinda tight on the inside. Great location to go before or after a nats game.

Dacha is a semi-outdoor beer garden across from Nat's Park and a short walk from Audi Field, making it the perfect storm to collect a massive crowd before a game. Dacha did fill up quickly, but with plenty of seating and an open section with standing tables in the center, there was still room to move around. With the glass walls surrounding us, we felt like we were in a garden. The noise level, while high, was not as bad as Solace, and we were still actually able to hear each other. Our server did not check on us as time went by, but she did bring us waters as soon as we were seated, which really exceeds my expectations for a beer garden. Our food and drinks arrived quickly and were super tasty. Both the flagship lager and IPA were drinks I'd order again, and as a vinho verde admirer, I appreciated having that as an option on the HH menu. While the skinny burger is delicious, the real star of the HH menu is the fried pickles, homemade and flavorful and piping hot. I'm eager to go back for another pregame and try the HH cocktail, perhaps sampling something from the regular menu as well.

Trouble Bird was the answer to my prayers on a recent trip, where I was looking to have high quality drinks and a laid-back NON-commercial vibe with my team. We liked it so much, we came twice in one week, and I was impressed at their ability to handle and be comfortable for a large group in a space that can feel intimate. The lighting is nice and moody, the menu available via QR code, and the WiFi free and listed with password for patrons to use. We had excellent service both times, by the two folks working each night for a groups of 6-8 each time. There was something for everyone from the nondrinkers to the beer enthusiasts, to cocktail aficionados like myself. There's an amazing happy hour deal, with discounts on drinks all Monday and reduced prices for a couple of hours on other weekdays; it almost felt criminal how generous the happy hour was when I've gotten used to paying $20 for a mediocre cocktail at other nearby establishments. And the cocktails here are really very good, probably the best in the area, except for their immediate next door neighbor. The group favorite cocktail was the Midori sour which was incredibly well balanced and refreshing, and the surprising crowd pleaser was the Hamilton Dry Float, which came in a creepy tiki mug presentation that we really loved. We had a couple of the bar bites - the spiced peanuts were well loved across the group but my person favorite food item was the blistered shishitos, which came with a great chipotle aioli. The bathrooms are extremely clean and overall this was a bar favorite for the group for our week of going out and socializing together. Overall this is a gem of a neighborhood hangout with really excellent cocktails and service! Will absolutely come here next time I'm in town!

We were immediately given two glasses of water while we looked over the menu. While looking over the menu and deciding what we wanted, we noticed that there were numerous people coming to stand beside and around us to order drinks and food. We also noticed that the bartenders at the bar were also serving the tables that were behind us as well. We were surprised to see that there were not waiters serving those tables. Because of this, you had people who were sitting at the tables behind us getting up and coming to the bar to order food and drinks, as well as people in general, walking up to the bar to order food and drinks. This made things very chaotic. As me and my wife were attempting to place our order, the bartenders continued to prioritize people who were coming to the bar after us. This went on for about 10 minutes. I then went to the hostess on the first floor and asked him if we could go upstairs. He said that we could go upstairs no problem, but it would be a similar situation to ordering like it was downstairs. I asked him will we be able to get a table upstairs and have a waiter instead of attempting to order food and drinks at the bar like we are doing downstairs? He told me that if we were to go upstairs we would still have to order our food and drinks at the bar. After waiting for about another five minutes and continuing to be ignored at the bar, I decided that I had enough and told my wife that we were leaving. This is a horrible concept! Having bartenders serve people at the bar is one thing. But, to also have those same bartenders serving numerous tables as well, to the point where the people who are at the tables have to come up to the bar and place their food and drink order, is madness. Especially when the bar and the whole downstairs level is packed before a Nationals game. This is very inefficient and leads to a horrible customer experience. Also, if this is going to be the concept that you go with, you will need more than just two bartenders to be able to handle that amount of traffic.
