We had a brilliant time at trivia night at the Bier Beergarden. Nice and humorous staff. Fun community night Drinks were good. - An American IPA - A Wit - A cherry blossom beer Could have done with drink specials all throughout trivia night. We arrive too late for them Food hit the spot in a pub / greasy spoon kind of way - just what we wanted. - Giant sides of tater tots, good old school time nostalgia - Giant pretzel. Soft on the inside, chewy exterior. Salty, in a perfect kind of way We would go back for sure

Met with some friends here while I was in dc. The staff was very friendly & the service was quick! Scanned the code at the table & paid. Within a minute or two, had our drinks. Plus, the weather was nice & cool for an outside table.

A frequent haunt over the past few years, especially during their happy hour (lasts until 7). Not the most expansive drink menu but it's solid, reliable, and decently priced. Big fan of the chicken tenders. In recent years they have added a good number of heaters and an enclosed-ish area, so it's a great spot no matter what weather. Dog-friendly, friendly staff. Ordering is done through a QR code.

Family, dog and kid friendly. Great outdoor beer garden. Warren the GM is so accommodating and has really done some great things for this place. Prices are good and the food is good as well which you don't always get so I can appreciate it. A lot of TVs so perfect for game days!

I always have a great time here! Nice beer garden to watch all the sports! They have a lot of tvs, the food is great, the service is even better and it just feels so comfortable! Fans when it's hot, heaters and enclosures when it's cold, umbrellas t block the sun... or rain, tons of seating and great vibes! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Family-friendly bar restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating and TVs for game watching. I didn't try the food menu but stuck to my cider. Menu is via QR code scanning. Service is limited as far as I could tell.

Fantastic place to come for a beer, conversation, watching sports and hanging out. Comfortable and casual outdoor seating. The only reason why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 or even 5 is because the menus are completely touchless, so the entire transaction or making a selection, scrolling through the menu and figuring out what's what, paying, ordering more items, it's all done by your cell phone. So the servers don't approach you initially like a traditional bar or restaurant. A person like me, I have questions so you're sort of on your own to figure things out. I would go back. Hanging out with friends and good company over beer is always a win-win.

Great place! Devon was awesome definitely looked out for me and party! Come by and bring your friends here!!! The location is very family oriented and they will take care of you respectfully. SHOUT TO DEVON!! You the man!

Bryan can pour a mean Guinness! At 91 degrees, it doesn't feel like Ireland, but the Guinness is definitely refreshing. Well done!

I stopped here briefly before a dinner just to pass time, but that was enough for me to gather how cool of a spot it is! It's a few blocks past the primary area of Eastern Market, so unless you know it's there, you may not go. There's plenty of seating inside and out, and it appears to be dog friendly for the puppy owners. I sat at one of the many available seats at the bar, and instead of menus, I got a QR code! This may be inconvenient for some, but I am personally a big fan. I was surprised to see how much food there was to choose from -- though I wasn't eating. I got a beer (I forgot which) and a glass of pinot grigio, quite good! There were TVs and overall it just seemed like a cool environment. Maybe it was because of the time, but compared to other beer gardens, this one seemed more chill, and I appreciated that.

Dacha is a semi-outdoor beer garden across from Nat's Park and a short walk from Audi Field, making it the perfect storm to collect a massive crowd before a game. We arrived shortly before happy hour ended, about two hours before a Friday night Spirit game and were able to get a table. Dacha did fill up quickly, but with plenty of seating and an open section with standing tables in the center, there was still room to move around. With the glass walls surrounding us, we felt like we were in a garden. The noise level, while high, was not as bad as Solace, and we were still actually able to hear each other. Our server did not check on us as time went by, but she did bring us waters as soon as we were seated, which really exceeds my expectations for a beer garden. Our food and drinks arrived quickly and were super tasty. Both the flagship lager and IPA were drinks I'd order again, and as a vinho verde admirer, I appreciated having that as an option on the HH menu. While the skinny burger is delicious, the real star of the HH menu is the fried pickles, homemade and flavorful and piping hot. I'm eager to go back for another pregame and try the HH cocktail, perhaps sampling something from the regular menu as well.

At Bluejacket, they have put their money where they are known for pouring beer into the beer production process itself. Being that I am currently appreciating lagers, I enjoyed their Gan Bei, their Common People and I especially liked their Briefly Gorgeous beer. Serving in all formats from samples to 1 liters, you can sample or consume until your heart is content. Pro tip, look out for their happy hour where the offer discounts on liters of beer! I really enjoyed the burger and fries the last time I was there. It was on point and paired perfectly with my helles. Service was good, and let us camp for about 3 hours while watching a game. I see my friends talk about this place all the time and they we're making me feel like I'm the only one who has never gone. Well I can finally scratch it off my list! My friends and I only got one round, but it was a great time. They check IDs at the entrance, and then you are in a consent wherever you want. You could hang out in the outdoor space or you can go to the covered area that has long benches like a typical biergarten. Hop in line to place your order -- one person takes care of your drink, and another person rings you up at the register nearby. The line was getting long but it was moving quite efficiently. I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I just got a cocktail (elderflower G&T) and it was great. The place got really full, but I enjoyed myself. It's smaller than some other biergartens I have been to in the city, but there's something about the vibe of this one that I like over the others. I'll have to come back on another occasion!

Went to Wunder Garten (WG) for a special event on a Saturday afternoon in April…read more They had a great mix of people--local, international, straight, gay, young, and some older folks. At late 50s, we were certainly at the top of the age spectrum; but we felt welcome. We had drinks and planned to have food, but gave up after the event and went to an indoor restaurant the next block up. The first thing you need to realize with this space is that it is an outdoor venue. Not a reason to lower the rating yet--just know what you're getting into. Yes, the Quonset hut is technically a permanent structure; and the cabanas are under cover. However, the hut is less than half the floor space; and the cabanas are all open-front. So dress appropriately. You will probably be shielded from the wind, but forget about climate control if it gets busy. So where did WG lose stars? Let's start with the bar. I asked for a Manhattan made with Woodford Reserve. What I got was a 2 oz pour of Woodford, neat. This was not a 'tall order'. If your bartenders can't mix a drink with literally two ingredients (...plus bitters, so maybe three), then you're just in the wrong business--minus one star. Also, they ran out of one of the beers on their menu. You're a beer garden. You had better have all the beers on your menu or some way to adjust your beer list throughout the day. The other star evaporated when we realized that there was nowhere to eat the food if we had bought some from their food trucks (...clever idea, by the way, replacing a fixed kitchen with food trucks docked to the venue). All the free seating--yes, you have to pay extra for the cabanas--are actual picnic tables. Unless you get there early or pay extra, you will have to stand (...in the weather) ...while you eat. Bottom line: ~$53 for a large mug (1L) of hard cider and a pour of whiskey, consumed standing up in 85 degree F weather. Versus next block: Two margaritas, one soda, one appetizer, two (amazing!) entrees, and one desert brought to us by a lovely waiter and consumed at a clean table while sitting on comfortable chairs in a 72 degree F environment for $122. We may come back to WG for a future event, but that will depend on the weather and our appetite for a standing-room-only experience. As for bringing friends? Nah--we'll just find a picnic table at a local park and skip the premium prices.

There are 6-10 bar seats at a long bar and another smattering of 6-8ish bar tables scattered on the rooftop. There are also some more unique lounge style seating which really makes the spot seem comfortable and relaxed. There are a couple TVs hung in the bar area which also makes this a great place to catch a football game on Sundays. Their happy hour is everyday from 4-7pm; they offer discounted beer and wine for $7-8 and select discounted cocktails for $10. The service is always quick and the bartenders are warm and friendly. There is a limited food menu, though I'd advise grabbing a bite elsewhere. I've had the food just once; my chicken tenders were pretty flavorless and had a tough texture - won't get those again. I was expecting chill beer garden vibes, which has been the case at other similar spots I have been to. Sauf Haus was definitely not that, though part of it was definitely on us for not doing our research. Others have mentioned the two steep staircases. I happened to be in an unfortunate position where I have a knee injury and was in a brace, so that was challenging. Now, that isnt something my friend had remembered about Sauf Haus and I didnt think to look it up, so that is on me. I was able to make it up, but it was challenging. It seemed entirely inaccessible for those who have a disability (permanent or temporary) that renders them unable to go up stairs. When we got to the top, the first bartender we encountered seemed to be inconvenienced by us ordering. The bartenders we encountered in the outside area and later in the indoor portion were friendlier/more helpful, though. There was also a day party going on with a loud DJ, lots of dancing, and a mister/bubble machine, which is seemingly a weekly event. Again, I did not think to see if there was anything going on, and there is nothing wrong with that - it just was not what I expected in going here. What was more concerning was that, in the 2ish hours we were there, we saw at least 5 (likely more) people get kicked out. Manyyy people that i saw were struggling to stand and had the thousand yard stare in their eyes. Several people threw up. One guy straight up peed all over the floor of the men's room. Oh, and both bathrooms are left entirely open, and the men's urinals are directly inside the door. So that is all just...exposed, which I have never seen in a venue before (even at the diveiest of dives). It seemed like it was reasonable for security to kick out the people that they did, but it also seemed like bartenders were heavily overserving. And, again, this was all before 6:00 p.m., so I can only imagine it gets worse after that. They had a good beer selection and sell most beers in both .5 or 1 liter mugs. We got the 1lb soft pretzel, which came out hot and crispy. I loved that it had several different dipping sauces with it. It was tasty and reasonably priced. My friend and I were going to both get a beer flight (as advertised on the menu), but they only had one flight board available so I got a cocktail instead. They do charge a 20% "service charge" during certain hours on weekdays and all day on weekends, but they make sure to tell you that isnt a tip and that you should still tip extra. I got a couple cocktails, so my $14 drink turned into a $22 drink after tipping. The cocktails I had (Strawberry Smash and Feel the Passion) were really good. Overall, I am rating Sauf Haus a 3 because we were not their target demographic. Those in their target audience seemed to be having a great time, and I could see myself enjoying a spot like this when I was in college. But I do think there is an overserving problem and they could do better on some other customer service aspects, too, regardless.

Trouble Bird was the answer to my prayers on a recent trip, where I was looking to have high quality drinks and a laid-back NON-commercial vibe with my team. We liked it so much, we came twice in one week, and I was impressed at their ability to handle and be comfortable for a large group in a space that can feel intimate. The lighting is nice and moody, the menu available via QR code, and the WiFi free and listed with password for patrons to use. We had excellent service both times, by the two folks working each night for a groups of 6-8 each time. There was something for everyone from the nondrinkers to the beer enthusiasts, to cocktail aficionados like myself. There's an amazing happy hour deal, with discounts on drinks all Monday and reduced prices for a couple of hours on other weekdays; it almost felt criminal how generous the happy hour was when I've gotten used to paying $20 for a mediocre cocktail at other nearby establishments. And the cocktails here are really very good, probably the best in the area, except for their immediate next door neighbor. The group favorite cocktail was the Midori sour which was incredibly well balanced and refreshing, and the surprising crowd pleaser was the Hamilton Dry Float, which came in a creepy tiki mug presentation that we really loved. We had a couple of the bar bites - the spiced peanuts were well loved across the group but my person favorite food item was the blistered shishitos, which came with a great chipotle aioli. The bathrooms are extremely clean and overall this was a bar favorite for the group for our week of going out and socializing together. Overall this is a gem of a neighborhood hangout with really excellent cocktails and service! Will absolutely come here next time I'm in town!
