I recently tried out Tanuki right by the Miami River. You can conveniently park in the adjacent River Landing garage. The restaurant was very lively on a Friday night. We had reservations as we were celebrating a birthday. They have entertainment from fire dancers throughout the night. The Asian fusion food was delicious. I had the spicy tuna roll upfront and the amazing miso sea bass as my main. You get to see the boats drive by which makes for a nice very Miami vibe.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very nice date spot with great outdoor seating that has a view of the water with boats going by.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got the miso soup and truffle yellowtail roll which were both good. Service was fine. Prices are elevated, but you're paying for a lovely location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Interior is nice too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The couple of menu items I tried were not out of this world, but willing to come back and try more.

Definitely try scallop and shrimp garlic butter dish, it was mind blowing. Appetizers are also great, good choices. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

My family wanted to take me out for Mother's Day and they know I enjoy a restaurant with a great view. They were able to snag a reservation and we celebrated Mother's Day for brunch. As we walked in there was a line outside, which was a good sign means that people wanted to eat here. I'm glad I didn't get a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated out by the water. All of the seafood was fresh. They have a daily specials menu where we got tuna and salmon hand rolls. We really enjoyed our time and I would think about coming back.

Many Many years ago, I have been to their previous location in Miami Beach for an event and ever since wanted to go back. So fast forward to October 28th 2025 I found myself in the area of their new location at the River Landing Mall along the Miami River for some legal things that had to take the day off to deal with. To reward myself, was able to have lunch that day so had excitedly pounced on Tanuki here and it blew me away! [[HIGHLIGHT]]With not much effort driving into this big building complex of shoppes and condos, driving up the ramp a few levels to find parking, then taking elevator down to the first floor, you come to Tanuki on the river that has a relaxing covered outdoor seating area or when going inside one is whisked away into an amazing well decorated Asian themd space![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Being the only one there, I opted for the bar area and glad I did as it had good views in every direction as well as through the windows to the outdoor area. It is here I had the pleasure of Gerrick the excellent bartender taking care of everything and answering questions and making suggestions. For drinks I had wanted a mocktail so the menu intrigued me with a Blackberry Yuzu Nojito, he made suggestions about how sweet I wanted it which was very nice for a bar to so! I got it not too sweet and was perfectly balanced being a great tasting drink reminiscent of a Mojito but with blackberry taste yet lighter on sugar content. Very very nice. Onto the food! Hungry! The restaurant is modern Asian fusion which their menu offers Japanese, Chineese and pan-Asian dishes to choose from. I had a hard time deciding! OK, two items caught my eye and had to order them both: Truffled Yellowtail Sushi roll and the Duck Dim Sum. OMG both were beautiful and amazing The Truffled Yellowtail was well plated on that dish and their truffle sauce lightly poured ontop. I love truffled anything and this took this sushi to a whole other level! So had enjoyed it so much. This vibrant orange wrapped Duck Dim Sum sits in its steaming basket, what a delight to see. Placing one in your mouth you are treated to a soft blanket sensation wrapping your tongue while chewing and the flavors are oh so Devine. I enjoyed the range of duck and other flavors going on and had to savor each piece by alternating this with the Yellow tail sushi and cleansing my palate with drinking the Blackberry Yuzu Nojito! It was so much fun taking it all in while eating looking around, interecrimg with the bartender. Dessert: Ok originally did not plan on dessert (was already full) but Gerrick talked me into getting the Lemongrass Creme Brule with three mixed berries. Again the presentation was very nice and when trying it the texture as I recall is like other creme brulees have had before but the flavor was subtly different. Not amazingly different, just subtle with a hint of Lemongrass. Would I order it again? Maybe not but then again next time try something else that might wow me. This was for sure a phenominal lunch spot hands down. Oh and I learned from Gerrick that on the weekends they have Live music from2pm until 4pm(?) And then later in the evening again have more live music. I definitely want to go back for that! Lastly, The River Landing Mall provides 2 hour free parking but I had too much fun and went over that so had to pay about $5 or so, which honestly is not bad. This would be a Mall to be tempted to stay and discover or shop or walk off the Caroline's consumed :). Oh and leaving the mall could be a pain if wanting to turn left to catch the road back to the highway ESPECIALLY if traffic backed up due to whatever reason (drawbridge up perhaps?). I had to navigate that mess. But wont let this deter me from coming back Solid restaurant Tanuki is.

I wanted a quick bite for lunch and stopped in here to have a roll and a drink. I sat at the bar and the bartender was wonderful. My roll was delicious! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the bar faces the river and the outdoor patio. It was a weekday and pretty quiet so I got to talk to the staff, all very nice. Definitely will be back.

Absolutely love coming here for happy hour 4-7pm everyday, even the weekends for food and drinks. Been going here for 2 years and so far everything we've eaten and ordered has been great. I love their sticky ribs, sushi rolls, and spicy edamame. I don't drink alcohol but my friends love their drinks when we dine here. The severs are also super great, Luis is the best one there! We go here for date night and even to celebrate my birthday with 20 guests. They are very accommodating and friendly here.

Came here for a work group lunch and it was a great choice for the occasion. We ordered family style and shared several dishes including the skirt steak, which came beautifully presented on a wood board with pickled onions, cucumber, lettuce cups, and a creamy aioli, We also shared Brussels sprouts, and fried rice with egg. Everything was well portioned for sharing and the table enjoyed it all. We also went all in on desserts and tried the lava cake, chocolate cake, and two standouts worth noting separately. The lemongrass crème brûlée was honestly the best thing we had all night, creamy with a perfectly caramelized top and a subtle flavor that made it memorable. The cheesecake was also a hit with the group. Service handled our group well without feeling chaotic, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere is relaxed (great view of the river) and comfortable for a midday meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Docking one star only because a couple of dishes took a bit longer to arrive, seems they may have been understaffed. Overall a solid pick for a group lunch in Miami and we would return.

The ambiance is a 10/10 with river front views and great outdoor seating, however, the food was disappointing. Unimpressed with my happy hour cocktail (happy hour until 7pm on Friday), for $9 still pricey! We decided to skip the Miami Spice menu because it didn't have anything interesting. Crab rangoon contained absolutely no crab, was just cream cheese. Super expensive for fried cream cheese. I had such high hopes for the mango salmon. As you can see in the pics, not much mango other than a few unripe squares and not incorporated into the flavor, but just a garnish. Beautifully presented. Worst insult of the night, when I started to eat it, it was not only barely warm, but completely uncooked on the inside. Essentially, I was served raw salmon. Zero flavor and very watery and soggy. I pointed it out to our server and asked for it to be cooked more and well done. Received no apology from manager, nothing comped or offered for the completely undercooked (raw) salmon I received. When it came back out, my mango and most of the asparagus was missing, so I got less back on my plate than what I sent back to the kitchen. Absolutely terrible way to treat your customers. Cheesecake was another underwhelming and expensive item we ordered for dessert. Courteous service. Overall, this was highly disappointing and the food didn't match the good reviews.

Had a really good experience at Tanuki. We ordered the Black Dragon roll, Truffle Yellowtail roll, Mongolian beef, and Pad See Ew. Both sushi rolls were really good and the fish tasted fresh. The Truffle Yellowtail was especially flavorful. The Pad See Ew and Mongolian beef were also very flavorful and tasted authentic. The only downside was the rice that came with the Mongolian beef, was a bit dry. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is really nice with a waterfront view, which makes the atmosphere great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall a great spot for both sushi and hot dishes, would definitely come back to try the other dishes.

I have been past this place while cruising on the Miami River. Today I came on a Saturday lunch and let me tell you I should have come earlier. From the Pork Bal Bun to the Spicy Salmon I had; oh wait also the Bloody Mary's; all hit 100%. Tanuki is a great Asian inspired restaurant with both ample indoor and outdoor covered seating. Nicely themed, it's a place you can dress up or dress down at. The foods pretty good with the menu having a wide section. Lots of veggie options too for the non meat eaters. Cute panda tea pot, however we were only presented with two options for tea: green and chamomile. We ordered green but ended up with mint. A little strange, but not a huge deal. I really enjoyed the slightly sweeter Singapore noodles. Good quality ingredients. The shrimp dumplings were super flavorful and made as well. Tanuki is group friendly. Our server was very friendly, but at times hard to find. The food came out a bit slower than expected, but it was quickly forgotten as the meal was delicious! I'd return and recommend. read more

From the moment we walked in, the experience was incredible. Came here twice, once during the day and once at night. Looks better than it is. My first time coming was definitely much better than the second time. Let's start with food I made sure to get different things both times to really get a taste of the place. I tried the duck dumplings which were pretty good but the shrimp dumplings weren't. And both times I went, they didn't have the Otoro wagyu sashimi/nigiri. Which was quite disappointing. The corn was way too buttery, and the sweet and sour chicken didn't taste sweet and sour. It tasted like regular cooked chicken with rice. Almost all the rolls were pretty bland. I'm glad the snow crab roll was scorched because that's what you can taste. The spicy tuna roll was alright. Most of the food was presented beautifully but there was no taste. There were a few that were really good. The wagyu tacos and the salmon tacos were absolutely delicious and so were the shrimp rocks. But almost everything else tasted bland. And I made sure to try almost 10 dishes. I was disappointed because the decor of this place is phenomenal. It is so beautiful, whether you decide to sit inside or outside on the terrace with a view of the water. The music was pretty good for the most part. The service at night wasn't the best, despite there not being a lot of people. There was only one server for everybody. The second time I went, the service was a lot better. Definitely mixed feelings about the place because it's beautiful and the view is amazing but honestly, the food is average at best. read more

This place is beautiful and the location is perfect, you can see Miami river from the outside tables and the ambience is great. We were there for my sister birthday and the service wasn't great. Our server was kind mad or just have bad attitude the whole time, didn't give any recommendation and was kind rude. Service was slow, with the food and the drinks in a Monday night. Taste of the food was good I try the branzino and was fresh and the side of vegetables tasty. The fried rice was weak, no taste and pale, the ribeye was whatever and the rolls were pretty decent. I recommend the crab Rangoon. Overall the place is not bad but they have a lot to work on it read more

I live right next to Tanuki and eveytime friends or family want to hang out, they always say let's go to Tanuki. It is a hit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance inside is trendy, outside it is right on the river with nice views of the sunset and boats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is very good. It can be pricey. I have had everything from the fried rice to salmon pizza and of course sushi. Specifically on my last visit, I had the salmon tacos which my sister loves. The old fashioned was smoked and very well done. I am not giving 5 stars because in my several visits, there's a consistent issue: if you sit at a table, the service is slow. I find myself trying to flag down the servers a lot. What we have discovered is sitting at the bar is your best bet to avoid that issue. Last time, we sat at the bar and Shane helped us. If it was based on my bar experience with Shane, 5 stars! He was attentive, made great drinks, and gave great menu suggestions. I definitely recommend. read more

THE PLACE: Located in River Landing shopping plaza, there is sheltered parking garage connected offering a 2 hour free parking. The restaurant faces the Miami River, so youll be able to view the river & the passing boats - though it is partially obstructed by decorative greeenary. The restaurant has indoor, outdoor and bar seating and is absoultely GORGEOUS. Every space of the restaurant was beautifully thought out and gracefully crafted. However, here are my "buts" - outdoor seating experience maybe disrupted by loud construction right next to it (reason why we had to come in), music is very loud, and the table where we were later sat at had a leak directly above us. Im not sure if it was a spacing issue or why we were sat here knowing there was a ceiling leak, but my pants were wet from the wet cushioned seats and I was drizzled on the entire length of my stay. THE FOOD: Food was good, but the prices were outrageous for its portions. THE SERVICE: While our waiter was great, the service was quite slow for it to be early afternoon on a weekday. I would understand if this happend on the weekend or a busy time, but the restaurant was essentially empty. read more

Im a big fan of River Landing so when I found out they opened a Tanuki there, I was like skrrrrr... Their menu offers you the option of ordering high end a la carte pieces or opting for one of their renditions. I'm a nigiri girl so we grabbed a few appetizers and then went carte blanche on the nigiri section. I love the presentation and detail they put into each dish. Also, my table wasn't crowded as the plates arrived in a perfectly syncopated timing in some pseudo-omakase order we put in. The server went through all the specials and answered all questions we had. The ambience is zenful as the rear of the restaurant faces the river which is perfect on a brisk evening. I love their tiradito options I ordered because the tangy marinade really elevated the profile of the fish it was served with. I love their menu. I think I ordered like half of the raw items that night. It's perfect for HH, a quick lunch, or a dinner date. I'll be back. read more

After a fun time at Monster Jam, my family and two others wanted a dinner close by. Good luck finding a place that will take 15 people last minute you think? Well, they didn't even bat an eye, smiled and sat us within 10 mins. The ambiance and decor is absolutely beautiful inside and out. We ordered what seemed like every item on the menu and I don't think k we had one mediocre bite of anything. It was all sooooo delicious. Service was impeccable and food was coming out constantly. Never a dull moment. Wish I had more pics but we were starving and digging in the second the food hit the table. Bonus, make sure you wash your hands in their waterfall sink outside the bathroom. Popped into Tanuki on a Friday midday for a solo lunch. The hostess was very friendly and I was sat immediately. The decor and vibe of the place is really stunning. You can tell a lot of thought went into it. They also have an outdoor deck where you can watch the boats pass by, I chose to sit inside because it was far too hot outside. I ordered the tuna crispy rice to start and it was SOOO good. Probably top 3 I've had in Miami. Rice was perfectly crispy and the tuna was melt in your mouth delicious. I also ordered the Xiao Long Bao which were okay. Not terrible, but not amazing. In my opinion there wasn't enough soup in them and they didn't come out very hot. I'd skip on these next time. Overall I had a great experience and I would love to return to try more! read more

Scenic Views, But Overpriced and Uncomfortable Service I recently visited this restaurant and was immediately struck by the beautiful design and stunning views of the river. The ambiance is truly something special--sleek, modern décor paired with serene river views makes it a lovely spot to relax and soak in the atmosphere. If you're looking for a picturesque dining experience, this place definitely delivers. Food: While the ambiance was impressive, the food left much to be desired, especially considering the high prices. I started with a tuna roll, which was decent but nothing extraordinary. Then, I had the seabass entrée, which was flavorful but quite small for the price. Honestly, the food was fine, but not worth the steep price tag. You're definitely paying more for the view and setting than the actual culinary experience. Service: One thing that really stood out (in a not-so-positive way) was the service experience. While the staff was polite, I was caught off guard by the way the service charge was handled. An 18% service charge is automatically added to the bill, which I understand, but when I went to pay with my card and double-checked with the waitress about the included charge, she made a point to mention that she only gets a small portion of that--$9 out of the service charge--and guilted me into giving her an additional $5 in cash. This felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. I get that servers rely on tips, but being put on the spot in this way left a bad taste in my mouth, especially considering the already high prices. Overall: The restaurant is definitely a place to visit if you're looking for a beautiful setting by the river, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're after great food at a reasonable price. The food was fine, but for what you're paying, I expected more. The added pressure on tips and the overall cost left me feeling like the experience wasn't worth it. If you're after great ambiance and views, it's a nice option, but if you're more focused on the food and value for money, there are better options out there. read more

This one checked all the boxes. It's one of the coolest restaurants we've been to. All the decor, ambiance, layout and overall vibe of this place was really nice. We tried several of their items on the menu and all of them were delicious. The short ribs were probably my favorite, packing so much flavor. Also enjoyed their filtered and unfiltered sakes. I'd say it's not really a place you'd bring small children, more like a cool spot to go with a group of friends for fun evening out. Service was great as well. read more

Such a beautiful location with beautiful views. There is a local parking garage near by and street parking not to far away. The ambiance is chilled, classy but still not to fancy. The food is amazing. Some of the things that we tried included the steak sandwich, which was beautifully seasoned and cooked but the meat being under a little made it very difficult to bite as a sandwich. We had to cut it in smaller pieces, all of the flavor was on point though. And the duck bao buns were perfect. The salmon with pear in the center, was very refreshing and just well made. The best part about the happy hour was that the portion sizes were the original size so if you ordered a roll, you're gonna get your 8 to 9 pieces and that's basically unheard of in MIAMI normally you get three or four pieces and that's it highly recommend all other cocktails that were on happy hour. Service is exceptional and the sunset view is amazing, if you can score their outdoor seating. I'd recommend to come during happy hour since prices are lower, but still a splurge for most. The food is good, the vibes are there, and the decor is chic and zen (as others have already commented). Note that, like many other places in Miami, service charge (20%) is already included, but they'll remind you. What was good: -Spicy tuna roll -- exactly as it should be. The textures and flavours all worked together, but the jalapeno might be too spicy for some. -Tuna crispy rice -- the smooth texture of the spicy tuna (almost pate like) contrasted well with the crisp of the bottom rice layer. -Drinks -- the minto mash and yuzu berry spritz were a good way to start off the evening. I could taste the alcohol without it being overwhelming. Recently opened at River Landing and with spectacular views from the outside seating area. I've been to the Miami Beach location but this is a more beautiful space and great location. Stopped by for the $25 lunch and opted for the miso soup and Mongolian beef. Also shared an order of the delicious spicy edamame. Miso soup was a little bland but the Mongolian beef made up for it. This is one of the best Mongolian beef dishes I've ever tasted. My colleague opted for the Mango chicken and was humming the entire time so I take that as a good thing. Washed it all down with a really cold Sapporo and ended up the meal with a beautifully plated and delectable Crème Brûlée. María, the waitress, was the sweetest, most welcoming and warm, helpful and delightful person. I found out ladies drink free every Thursday at the bar area and there's a $10 all day sushi special on Mondays so run, don't walk. I'm coming back soon to try a few more dishes but especially to enjoy a nice drink outside contemplating the amazing views. read more

We went on a Wednesday night so not too many people there. The ambiance is definitely for a young group at least that night. Music was loud but I think it was because we got there at happy hour. The waiter was super helpful and guided us with what to order. The food was nice and good. It is a bit pricey but I can't wait to go back and sit by the river. Omg! This place is beautiful,the food is delicious, and the entire staff is very polite. Around 1PM today, I went there for lunch. First thing that I noticed was the decor and the hostesses that were able to get me seated for lunch. The waiter was fabulous. He helped me select items, the view of the river is nice as well. What a beautiful place to have a meal. They had a lunch special but I went with the Miami Spice and had the crab rangoon which came with three. They looked like mini empanadas. I had the Salmon Avocado roll which was pretty big and filling enough for lunch. For dessert they bring you two Mochi. There were six of us and everyone got different combinations. What a cute little vibey Spot by the water with amazing ambience and an even better happy hour menu! Normally your typical happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4 pm to about 6 or 7 PM. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had happy hour offered here on Sundays. The prices were super super reasonable even on the regular menu and the drinks were definitely worth it on the happy hour menu as they were only $9. I did a happy hour sushi roll. That was also only nine dollars and delicious, spicy tuna roll. We also ordered some noodles that were my favorite some fried rice from the regular menu and a dim sum selection of 16 pieces for $50, Not bad. I was celebrating a late birthday dinner with the family and they brought us out a chocolate cake that was super indulgent and we ordered the lava cake which I liked more and paired excelled with the icecream. We ordered: - Miso soup, (served in a charming, Japanese chawan mushi cup) the flavor was really good and strong. (I hate it when it's weak) - Spicy dumplings. They tasted homemade. Yummy - Shrimp shu mai, good, tasted as it should - Tanaka roll, with extra crispies on top, (I was not a fan because I did not expect it to be deep-fried. if it had not been deep-fried, I would've liked it.) - Peking duck served in an impressive three tier tower that looks like a round Chinese Temple. - Pork Belly Bao bun, this was also a miss for me because I expected it to taste like barbecue, but it was just really salty like they used a lot of brown salty sauce. All in all, I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though I didn't like those two items. Bec But, because of the excellent service, the atmosphere and the beautiful way they served the food, I decided to leave them a five star review.
