The dipping ramen broth was so rich and flavorful! For those searching for the Tsukemen to replace Ramen Halu this is the place. I look forward to coming here again, and much appreciation for the staff who were masked. read more

Ive never been the biggest fan of Taishoken's ramen. Broth is just ok to me and nothing really stands out. I would say its more on the lighter side in terms of flavor. The dry ramen here is pretty good though. Portion size is huge imo. Typically will share this bowl with my wife while the kids eat ramen. Service is fast and efficient. read more

I understand the hype now. It was our first time trying this restaurant and the food here was so good, the chicken karaage was the best I've had so far in San Jose. The service was really quick, the staff were friendly and took our order fairly quickly. Great first time experience, can't wait to comeback in the future! read more

Taishoken - Niku Spicy Ramen, Karaage(Fried chicken) - Ramen Near Me - Milpitas, California

My family and I are into ramen so when we found out this new restaurant opened, we decided to give it a try. I'm glad that we are able to join the waitlist via Yelp because it saved us a lot of time. The place is really clean and the staff were attentive. I ordered the chicken karaage and it was perfectly seasoned and came out piping hot. Hubby and son ordered the Tokusei Ramen and I tried the broth, which was perfectly seasoned and wasn't too salty. Daughter ordered the Tokeisei Tsukemon dipping noodles. I liked this dish the most and will probably order this next time. I got the Mazesoba and I thought it was a little too heavy for me. It was flavorful but it was too rich so I got full after a few bites. Overall this is one of my favorite ramen spot and I'm so glad it's close to home. read more

Went here for dinner after a concert. Saw that the noodle was made fresh and wanted to try it. The noodle was okay, but it the white small noodle. The broth was decent. However, the topping and meats were very limited. They only had pork options. Try it once, probably won't come here again. read more

Great food. We waited about 20 minutes on a Saturday Tried the tokusei tsukumen, tokusei ramen, yuzu shio ramen, and calamari. Yuzu shio is vegetarian with a light broth but can add meat to it. read more

Came here a few days ago at 5pm on a Wednesday with a few other friends for a birthday celebration. If you haven't heard of them opening, you probably wouldn't know where it existed cause there's no restaurant sign in the front. There was a small line in the front. I expect the lines to be longer once they have a sign and more people know about it. I've never been to the San Mateo location, but I've heard good things about their dipping ramen. We got sat within 30 minutes and we had the biggest group with 6 people. We ordered 3 appetizers to share: Takoyaki, calamari, and chicken karage. These were all sooooo good. My favorite was the calamari due to how juicy and tender each bite was. Since we were also early, they actually had a grand opening special with wagyu beef dry ramen. These are served in limited quantities per day and we were lucky enough to get a few orders for our table. I ended up ordering that which came with about 4-5 slices of very tender wagyu beef, some garnish vegetables, matcha pesto sauce, and a golden egg yolk. The ramen noodles were very nice and when all the flavors were mixed, it was super rich and creamy. We actually came to celebrate a friend's birthday and they gave a complementary ice cream of choice for the birthday boy. Overall, it was a nice meal, and I definitely want to come back to try their famous dipping ramen. read more

Foods great and perfect the interior design and atmosphere is very nice, and the service is quick and fast even when it's busy.

The Tokusei Tsukemen was really good! But I'll say, the seasoned egg was the star of the show! The broth was great and works well with the noodles. Overall, a great addition to Milpitas Square. read more

Came here to try their tsukemen and it was so good! The noodles were perfectly chewy and the dipping broth was flavorful. We also ordered their takoyaki and karaage and they were both really great choices. Our server, Kai, was so kind and knowledgeable about the menu as well! They helped walk us through the menu items before ordering and was extremely attentive throughout our experience here! Would come again read more

UPDATED: Management contacted me and made an honorable gesture to resolve our issues from the last visit. We will make another visit to Taishoken as we always enjoyed their menu items and ambiance. read more

My boyfriend and I have been avid Taishoken fans for a while, and were so happy to find out that one opened on our side of the Bay. We're happy to not have the cross the bridge and even happier to know that the quality is still the same. Our server Jonathan during our most recent visit to the Milpitas location was amazing! He was attentive, checked up on us at just the right times, and made sure that we were always taken care of throughout our meal - anticipating anything we might have thought to ask for. Having been a server myself, it was amazing to see that that same service was given to every one of his tables. Absolutely will be asking to be sat in his section again the next time we stop for a meal! read more

Been to the San Mateo and San Francisco locations before, and Milpitas is far by my least favorite so far. Menu is limited; no alcoholic drinks available yet, fine. The seasonal hiyashi ramen was not enjoyable-- could have been colder for a more refreshing experience. The mushroom oil was overpowering, and I could not taste the chicken broth. Chashu is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal, but the chashu in both the rice bowl and tsukemen was dry and not too tender. I was also expecting a thicker slice in the tsukemen. The tsukemen dipping soup was thinner and think I saw oil separating at the top. There was nothing wrong with the service. But I would only come here again once this location has the same menu options and matches the quality of the other locations. read more

Service was great. Ramen was good and we liked the chewy texture and I hope they fill out a little more soup. The Takoyaki was tasty with the dresser. Tartar tuna was ok because it was under seasoned. read more

This was my second and my husband's first time eating there. Unfortunately we were both disappointed with the quality of the food this time . I recommended my husband to order the chicken noodle with the special broth solely because it was great when I had it the first time. Sadly for a $22 bowl of noodle, we were given only two extra small pieces of chicken which seemed odds and ends. We felt we had an expensive bowl of noodle with almost no meat but too much oil, yet the broth still tasty. read more

*drop a beat* Jonathan "The GOAT" Lau I'm leaving this review for Mr. Jonathan Lau A five star waiter at Taishoken no doubt Came in on a Sunday, we were in the house The place was full but he held it down Our two tsukemens came out so fast Jonathan got us served like we flying first class Taishoken tsukemen makes other's look whack Mr. Lau got the service to keep us coming back read more

I really enjoy the Tori Chintan (chicken) ramen at Taishoken -- it's honestly the only item I order here and my favorite on the menu. The broth is clean, light, and flavorful, and the noodles and toppings always taste fresh. It's just too bad they only serve it during lunch, because I'd gladly eat this any time of day. read more

2 stars only because of the delicious potato salad and the customer service, otherwise, a hard 1 star for the food. This place is one of the extremely overhyped/overrated places. We came right at opening for dinner and ordered the potato salad, takoyaki, tsukemen ramen, soup ramen and mazesoba. To be brief, the broths were indeed filled with umami, but very bland overall. Depth of flavor was very single-note. The traditional chashu was tough, but had it replaced for a piece that was slightly better. Accounting for the toughness, perhaps it was the end cut, poor prep or insufficient cook time. The sous vide chashu tasted completely absent of salt and flavor, it was equivalent to a thin piece of ham. All the ajitsuke eggs were quite over cooked even when enjoyed immediately. Perhaps the eggs weren't shocked to stop the carry-over heat after cooking? Keep in mind that 2 of the eggs were served over chilled-noodles, so it definitely wasn't that it sat too long. They were past runny and definitely not even jammy. Worst thing was probably the takoyaki. 6 balls topped with a 'egg salad' of sorts. 2/6 balls absent of octopus. The 4 balls that had octopus had a negligible piece that accounted for 5-10% of the entirety of the ball itself. This was basically just paying for flour and eggs. Server was nice, enthusiastic and attentive. The potato salad had wonderful texture accompanied by the flavors of bonito/dashi base(?). Nice touch of roe for the brininess and a hit of curious smoke. Would come back for the potato salad but take a hard pass on everything else. Extremely disappointing experience. read more

Service here is terrible and impolite. For the price and quality at this location, there are plenty of other options in the area. If you want good tsukemen, you should go to the San Mateo or SF location instead. read more

Came here at 1137 on a Friday and line already out the door. Peeked inside and there were at least 5 tables empty. You have to register to be on the wait list and then wait for them to text you. This needs to change. If you're open at 1130 then if people come, seat them all first until out of tables, then people can start the wait list. We waited about 20 minutes when there were empty tables inside. After we got in and put in our orders, food came out about 15 minutes. We got the Niku spicy ramen, karaage and the sandstorm calamari. The chicken karaage was a bit salty and it did not pair well with the salty mayo. The sandstorm calamari was not spicy at all and it too was salty and the sauce , I supposed it was tartar was also salty. We couldn't finish the calamari as it was a bit oily which stuck to our throats. Now for the spicy Niku ramen, it was not spicy but super super salty. I had to dump my ice water in the broth. The pork charsu meat was chewy and tough, not tender at all, there was only 2 pieces and an overcooked egg. For $20 a bowl I would expect better. Food did not leave a good impression in taste so definitely not worth the wait nor do I recommend. read more

I know the place is known for the tsukemen but I ordered the ramen. I wasn't impressed as the noodles were thin and the broth was very heavy and salty. Our party if 4 were all heavily bloated afterwards due to the heaviness. The positives were the calamari and the different type of chashu they had. It was thinly sliced and looked like a roast beef and had amazing taste and texture. read more

The tsukemen here was soooo good. The broth is very much bonito forward and oh so savory. The pork was spot on, and the prices were very reasonable for a good bowl of noodles. Jonathan was my server and the service here was nothing short of spectacular. He was very quick and attentive! read more

I was in town and happened to come across Taishoken and decided to just join the waitlist for dinner. It was a 60-80 min wait time, but yolo, it was grand opening night! Also happened to be my birthday so decided to just join the hype. We joined at 7pm and got seated around 8:20. Once we were seated, our server Faith came and greeted us and asked if it was our first time or not. She went over the menu and gave us her recommendations; absolutely loved the info that she gave us. We ordered the potato salad appetizer and Tokusei Tsukemen. Faith did tell us that the noodles may take awhile. The potato salad was an interesting take, but was still good nonetheless. The egg was absolutely amazing and elevated the salad even more. Once our noodles came out, we got to eating! Had a noodle first to see how it tasted. At the end of the meal, we had water/dashi added to the dipping soup. Overall, the meats and egg were absolutely delicious!! Would come back and try the other dishes when it dies down. read more
