Note- They were open on Easter. I was surprised as most small business are closed on Easter. It looked like the Pizza and Thai place in their little strip mall were open also. I've never been here before due to the parking situation. They are part of a strip mall and the parking lot always looks full so I pass. My husband was during today and thought this place would give us some tasty Easter treats so we drove over. It's a little bit of a drive for us, but worth it as we were also going to get the cheaper gas down the street. Upon walking in I was a bit shocked at how bare bones the place was. It wasn't a fancy bakery with lots of baked goods to choose from. The one case with Mochi was completely empty. I'm guessing since it's a holiday they didn't stock up. The line is confusing. When we walked in we figured the line started by the cashier, it wasn't till we paid and I looked back and realized the line started at the other end of the counter. OPPs. When we arrived there were two people at the cashier and a third person waiting. We just got behind that last person and figured we were in line. By the time we left there was a party of 4 that had walked in and it turns out they were standing in the correct place. I wanted the BBQ Pork bun, but my husband swayed me away from it saying it was all dough and virtually no meat. I looked at some pictures on Yelp and that's exactly what it showed. Too bad. I would have bought a dozen to eat over the next week and even freeze. My grandmother used to buy a box and freeze them for a rainy day. I loved going to visit her as she'd pull one out and we'd get a real treat. They have some really good combos, but you need to be in the mood for Congee and fish. We were on a quest for a little snack so that didn't fit the bill. What we really wanted was the lotus leaf filed with sticky rice, chinese sausage, and some meat mixture with tiny shrimp and mushrooms. My favorite part is the sticky rice and chinese sausage. We also got the stuffed eggplant with shrimp. They have a little sitting area in back, which we used to enjoy our treats. My husband and I agree that the Lotus leaf was the best, even better than other places we've gone recently. The stuffed eggplant was ok, but it was room temperature. I would have preferred it to be warm or hot. Service was slow. It just took them a long time to gather the orders up and package them. It's nothing like another local dim sum place we usually go to. And the food is expensive in comparison to other local dim sum places. The lotus leaf was delicious so I'll give them that, but it's not a place I plan to frequent often.

1st visit since I was in the area and wanted a quick bite. I bought 2 BBQ pork bao buns. First issue was that they were cold, not warm like the ones at ABC Bakery. 2nd issue was the total lack of filling. They are 75% bun and 25% filing. Next time I will drive a little farther to ABC Bakery where their buns put a smile on my face. This place is a total let down.

Tai Pan Dim Sum Togo is exactly what you want when you are craving something quick, satisfying, and full of flavor. The service is fast and efficient, making it an easy go to for a grab and go meal. Despite the speed, the quality holds up well. The dim sum is fresh, well prepared, and hits all the right notes. They also have all of the classics like shumai and hargow.

I happened to be in the area and decided to check out this new spot everyone's been raving about. I ordered the custard bun and the 3-piece shu mai. Custard bun: Soft as a pillow with delicate layers and a moist interior. I really appreciated that the custard wasn't overly sweet or bland--it struck a nice balance and was just the right amount of sweetness. Shu mai: It was a bit mid for me. I can't quite pinpoint what it was missing, but the flavor didn't fully stand out. Still, it's a decent option if I'm in the area and craving a quick bite. Staff: Quick and friendly service. Ambiance: Clean and spacious, which made the visit comfortable. Overall, a solid stop if you're nearby, especially for the custard bun. There are other food options I wanted to try and plan on coming back..

Top clockwise: shark fin, har gao, shy mai and meat football. All so good!! Fried football was off the charts!!

Woman at the counter was so sweet and helpful. The prices were great as was the taste of the food!! I imagine it tastes even better freshly made. And they cater!! Love this place!

Finally made it to this new dim sum spot. I ordered the baked bbq pork bun, sesame seed balls (filled with red beans), and chives & shrimp dumplings. The chivas and shrimp dumplings were juicy and full of so much flavor. The sesame seed balls were warm, gooey, and crispy. So delicious! The baked bbq pork buns were fluffy and had so much filling. The cashier was sweet. I told her it was my first time and she smiled and welcomed me in and said she hopes to see me back. The place is small but it was nice and clean. It smelled so good in there. If you haven't tried this place, I say go try it out!

A friend and I were doing some errands in the neighborhood, I wanted to try Tai Pan, so we stopped by. This place is more of a to go place, but they do have a few tables you can sit and enjoy some dim sum. I was in the mood for some congee. It was a rainy, cold day, congee sounded so good. We order a variety of items to share. I thought the congee was very good. The soup had good flavor and a good amount of pork and preserved eggs. It tasted like my mom made it. The steamed Char Sui bun was ok, but a little dry. The pork did not have any sauce and the bun was heavy. The bun part was thick and a little dry. The chive fried dumpling was very oily. The pork fried dumpling was good. The dumpling was crispy and had a lot of filling in it. It was different than others I've tried. It had peanuts in the filling. I didn't care for it. Plus, I don't like cilantro, I probably won't order that one again. My friend ordered more items, but I didn't want to stuff myself. I didn't try the shrimp dumplings and Sui mai. The staff were very nice. The place is ok. Some items are good and some are not to my liking. Also, the place uses peanuts and peanut oil. If you have allergies, better to avoid eating at this place.

Finally got to try this place after seeing it all over the internet, and I'll say right away that the space itself is really nice. It's open, high ceilings, and a lively, busy atmosphere that makes it feel exciting to walk into. There's a lot to choose from, and the pricing felt about the same as eating out elsewhere, with the added bonus of being able to place your order and take everything to go. I liked that they had dessert options off to the side and the hot food ordering up front, but I did wish the process was a bit more organized. After waiting in line, a friendly employee handed me a paper to fill out, but when it came time to turn it in, names started getting called out from people who weren't even in line, which made things feel a little chaotic. I think it would be much smoother if the order sheets were already out and ready for customers to grab on their own. As for the food, it was just okay overall. The rice noodles tended to fall apart when I tried to pick them up, and the pineapple bun was a bit on the dry side. The shu mai was pretty standard and decent, but the shrimp ha gow wrapper was harder than I expected instead of soft and delicate. The steamed pork bun was also dry, and while the custard bun was fine, it felt like there was more bun than filling. The cream cheese wontons were alright, but I was hoping for a crispier outside. Overall, I'm glad I gave it a try and can see why people are curious about it, especially for the convenience and variety. For me personally, though, I'd probably stick with a traditional dim sum restaurant next time if I'm really craving higher quality versions of these dishes.

I finally had a chance to check out Tai Pan and also wanted to wait until they had been open for a bit. They're located in a small shopping plaza so parking is always a challenge. The line wasn't too bad. A gentleman took our order while we were waiting in line which I thought was pretty cool. Said we could add to the order when we get to the cashier and there were 5 people ahead of me. I order lots of things and too many to name, but I'll share what I enjoyed, the congee with salted egg, I thought was cooked really tasty. Everything else like the pork dumpling and shrimp dumpling were basic. The pastry I grabbed was dry which I thought should have been moist. The BBQ pork bun was just ok. There is plenty of seating outside and just 2-3 tables inside. I'll check out the other items next time and share any updates.

Only went for the 50% off discount on wednesdays. I didnt actually go but i got to try some of their things. Overall below par but decent since discount. I tried e hargow, seafood suimai, and sharkfin, and also the baked chasui bao. We also ordered pineapple chasui baos and they didnt give it to us... Personally wasnt a fan of the seafood suimai, i dont like peas and carrots which it had lol, and also didnt like the crab sticks that were in it because it jus tasted too fake and floury. Sharkfin dumpling was whatever, kinda fatty but if thats how it be. The most disappointing thing ive tried so far was the chasui bao. We cut it in half and my half was literally 98% bread 2% filling (picture included except i ate the crust off before i took pic lols). But yeah... have yet to try their other stuff yet but disappointed. I think (original) pricing wise majority is more expensive than dimdim (pocket) except their steam buns r cheaper?

Was excited to try this place, especially because I'm not fluent in speaking Chinese, I'm not comfortable ordering dim sum at places where they barely understand English. I was mainly excited to try the deep fried meat dumplings, those are my favorite, and this place makes them bigger than normal. I was a bit disappointed that there was barely any meat inside, but there was a lot of peanuts and other stuff. Service was good, I like how they come up to you and help you with your order by noting down what you want while giving us plenty of time to browse and decide. There's much less anxiety this way since I'm a bit indecisive and slow to know what I want. I wanted the red bags but they don't seem to always give them out. I asked for it and thankfully they gave me two for my order. The prices are okay, kind of expensive for some items, like $6 for the sticky rice in lotus leaf and it was so small! Overall, everything else tasted fresh and decent.

Heard new dim sum place opened. Parking is tight with so many businesses in a small plaza. The restaurant isclean and bright inside. Came on a weekday during lunch and there was no wait. Their dim sum is larger than some of the other places I've been to locally. Their prices are very reasonable. I ordered the fried shrimp dumpling, shumai, seafood shumai, chive dumpling, stuffed tofu and eggplant. All had good flavor and a decent amount of meat in them. Really enjoyed the dim sum.

My mom is very picky. She's restricted to soft foods now. She says "no" to everything I buy from bakeries. Today, she told me to buy more mochi. Thank, Mitzi, for recommending Tai Pan!

My husband and I lived in the Bay Area for a while before moving to Davis for school, so our standards are pretty high. Unfortunately this is not going to be my new go to. Although the flavors of the food were pretty OK, we found everything to be really soft. Our shrimp and chive dumplings were literally disintegrating and my chicken feet were too soft. The sticky rice, however, and the tripe were delicious sui mai, and ha gao were pretty good, with the sui mai being pretty juicy. We paid $100 for 10 dishes! I know prices have gone up everywhere but this felt pretty steep. Overall, I don't think we'd come back. I would rather go to South Sacramento and eat dim sum there and then get my Asian grocery shopping done. Restaurant itself looked like a standard Chinese dim sum restaurant. Nothing to write home about.

The restaurant itself has always been large, spacious, and beautifully decorated with chandeliers--it's definitely a nice venue for events like weddings. Their taro turnovers have always been a favorite of mine, and even after moving farther away, I still found myself coming back just for them. A few months ago, my husband and I had a really pleasant experience here. We ordered a variety of dim sum and ended up taking some home because everything was so enjoyable. My husband typically orders the spicy orange chicken and has always been satisfied with it. The service during that visit was also great--the server was sweet, attentive, and we even had some fun conversations. Unfortunately, our most recent visit yesterday was a completely different experience. We came in around 11:15 AM on a Tuesday expecting a nice, casual dim sum date. I ordered har gow, siu mai, sticky rice, and shrimp balls with sweet and sour sauce, and we waited for more of the dim sum carts to come around. As usual, I ordered the spicy orange chicken for my husband. It was already off to a rough start when communication with our servers became difficult. There seemed to be a significant language barrier, and it was challenging to get our concerns across. Things went downhill when we received the "spicy" orange chicken. It was not spicy at all and, more importantly, it was severely overcooked--hard, dry, and honestly unchewable. We ordered chicken, not beef jerky. When we brought this up, the staff seemed fixated on the spice level rather than listening to the main issue. They insisted that the dish was already spicy and interpreted our concern as a request for "extra spicy." Both my husband and I can handle spice differently, but we could agree there was no spice present, and that wasn't even the primary problem--the texture was. They took the dish back, and we assumed it would be remade. Instead, it was quickly returned to us with some chili sauce sprinkled on top--the same exact overcooked chicken. I could tell it hadn't been remade because the same broken piece of chicken was still on the plate. At that point, we were frustrated and had lost our appetites. I took the dish to the register myself to explain that the issue was the texture and that the chicken was inedible. It finally seemed to click, and they apologized and offered to remake it, but by then, it felt too late. I'm not one to give third chances when something should have been handled correctly the first or second time. To their credit, they did not charge us for the dish and were apologetic, but the entire experience felt unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. That's not the level of service I expect when I'm paying to support a business. It's especially disappointing because this was meant to be our last visit before moving out of state, and it ended on such a sour note. Sadly, after this experience, I definitely do not see myself returning.

The cashiers taking orders were very nice and efficient, happy to answer any questions I had. I ordered 3 pineapple buns with filling, 2 sui mai, 2 shrimp ride noodle and a beef rice noodle. Most things are ready right when you order but because it's made fresh, when they run out there is a wait sometimes. When I got the pineapple buns in my hand they were still nice and warm, a decent size as well compared to some dimsum spots. The filling was nice and sweet, not the typical nai wong custard but a coconut, thicker filling that was nice and sweet. The bread was so soft as well and the crust was nice flaky and crunchy. It was very satisfying to bite into, no complaints here! 9/10 The sui mai was piping hot when I got it as well. They were very big and meaty and so fresh when I bit into them. Super juicy and fulfilling to eat! 8.5/10 Lastly the rice noodles, which are my favorite of all time dimsum foods. The shrimp one had such a good bite to it because of the shrimp. The rice noodles were thin and soft just how I like them! The beef one I wish had a bit more beef/beef flavor to it but still good! In addition the sweet soy sauce they give is a good balance of sweet and salty as well, would def recommend! 8.5 Overall I would definitely come back! Such a good place to pick up dimsum to go! I saw the sweet rice cake was very popular as well and would love to try that next time!

And if you know, you KNOW...that's when the food is about to slap. We came with a mission (aka hungry and slightly unhinged) and ordered: baked BBQ pork buns, shumai, har gow, shrimp rice rolls, pineapple baked custard buns, fried shrimp balls, and soup dumplings. Basically, if it could be steamed, fried, or stuffed...we said yes. It's clearly family run, which I love. Mom is running the show like a boss, kids are hustling, and since it was Mother's Day...CHAOS. Delicious chaos. Food flying out, servers holding trays of dumplings like treasures, stopping at your table and you're like "YES, THIS IS MY MOMENT"...and then they walk away to another table. Emotional rollercoaster. So many "Ooooh yay!" followed by "Ohhh man..." But honestly? It just built the suspense. Then OUR food arrived...and our eyes went WIDE. These dumplings are HUGE. Like, "one bite? absolutely not" huge. The BBQ pork buns were soft, fluffy, slightly sweet clouds of happiness. Har gow and shrimp rice rolls were perfectly steamed (no soggy sadness here ). Now, because it was busy, the shrimp had a bit of a split personality...some bites were perfectly snappy and delicious, others were just a little overcooked. Not tragic, just not living their absolute best life. But overall? Everything was GOOD. And then the check came...about $60 for ALL that food. I almost checked it twice like, "Ma'am...are you sure you charged me correctly?" Because that is a STEAL. What really got me though was the family. You could see the hustle, the stress, the love...all happening in real time. Even in the chaos, they were kind, smiling, and apologizing for the wait. That kind of heart hits different. Final verdict: great food, great value, and a whole lot of love. I'll definitely be back to try more of their main dishes. Until next dumpling craving...

Finally Returned to this restaurant! They fixed some of their service issues I had the first time I…read moredined here. Food is delicious! The golden shrimp rice rolls are the best! This time they did have the bean curd rolls which had noodles, veggies and a little meat. I do wish there were more veggies and meats served on the hong Kong house special noodles. They have decent lunch specials. My bf got the lemon chicken which he enjoyed. The egg roll did get a little soggy though bc it was soaked in the sauce.

UPDATE 4/6/2026…read more Prices are more transparent now than previously in the past. Menu items are more consistent now where as in the past the portion size would vary based off of your party size as I noticed before when ordering entree items. One time we had a party of two and ordered a dish and was smaller than when visiting with a party of 4. Same price you're paying you should get the same size portion regardless. Kings has made improvements over the years. The food is still great and worth going to!

The interior is as massive as ever and the dim sum carts are still rolling. What made this visit stand out was the service. The aunts and uncles working today were incredibly warm and welcoming. A few of them went out of their way to compliment our young daughters and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of the entire time. That level of friendliness wasn't always the case in the past, so this felt like a really pleasant and noticeable change. The food remains consistently solid and deeply nostalgic. Every bite brings back memories of younger days, and now it's special in a different way because we get to experience it again with our daughters. It feels like passing a small piece of the past on to the next generation. During our visit we experienced great food, genuine service, and a lot of nostalgia packed into one meal.
