    Bacon fried rice

I had high hopes for Ming Dynsasty, but the food was just ok. We ordered the Chinese New Year menu that feeds 8-10 people. Large portions, which is a plus. We had the following: - jellyfish, seaweed salad, cha siu - I think it's hard to mess this fish up and it was vey good - steamed fish - pretty good and came with 2 fish - bacon? Fried rice - this was the weirdest fried rice dish I've ever had and wasn't very good - lobster - it came with two tails and it was just okay - dried oyster wi try veggies - just ok - empress chicken - I don't actually like this cold yellow chicken, but the ginger garlic sauce was very good - Choy with mushrooms - a bit salty and the vegetables were huge and hard to eat - chicken and cuttlefish with vegetables - just ok - dessert was just oranges We also added pea sprouts and Gai Lan. The pea sprouts were very good. Small parking lot off of broadway and restaurant is pretty large.

Date: Monday, December 1st, 2025 Time: around 4:45pm Party of: 2 Meal: Late Lunch / Early Dinner *Steamed Piggy Bun ($5.55) *Siu Mai ($6.25) *Chicken Feet ($5.55) *Garlic Spare Ribs ($5.55) *Pork Tofu Skin Rolls ($4.25) *Shrimp Dumpling ($6.25) *Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll ($6.25) *Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice ($6.25) *Deep Fried Pork Dumpling ($4.25) *Deep Fried Shrimp Ball ($6.25) *Pot Stickers ($5.55) *Peking Style Cucumber Salad ($7.95) *Jelly Fish Salad ($8.95) *Empress Chicken ($7.85) The hubby suggested grabbing dim sum on the way back to SF from Tahoe. He actually looked into places and suggested Ming since they do all day dim sum. It wasn't very busy when we got here so they seated us right away. We had actually ordered more items, but I believe they were out of two of them. I think it was the eggplant and something else. At the end of the meal, we realized we still hadn't received the tripe we ordered. Turns out they never put it in. They offered to punch it in right then, but we were full, so we declined. I really did want that ngau pak yip as not a lot of places have it any more. Maybe I should have brought it home. I enjoyed all the dim sum dishes. It had been a while since I went to yum cha, so it was nice what I consider a staple. My fam used to go out for dim sum every Sunday growing up. If memory serves, I found the cucumber salad a little heavy on the maggi. I didn't finish it, so when I ate it again, I added vinegar and chili oil to hide it a bit. The jellyfish didn't taste like much. Remedied that at home with some sesame, vinegar, chili oil, and green onion. The piggy baos were so cute. I couldn't resist. Glad I stopped by. Nice finding an all day dim sum spot on the way home. REVIEW #3929

We spent the weekend in Sacramento for a family event that included Saturday night dinner here. For dinner, we started with pork belly served with hoisin sauce. This was followed by a seafood soup, honey walnut shrimp, assorted mushrooms/vegetable medley, steamed whole fish, crispy fried chicken, and lobster. Excellent dishes. The orange wedges at the end were the perfect dessert. Eleven of us returned at 10am on Sunday for the dim sum. I selected pu erh tea among the several choices. We feasted on har gow, siu mai, lotus leaf sticky rice, black bean spareribs, wonton soup, shrimp rice noodle rolls, tofu skin shrimp rolls, steamed egg custard buns, baked BBQ pork buns, steamed BBQ pork buns, deep fried pork dumplings, deep fried stuffed taro puffs, and egg tarts. Both meals were exceptional. Saturday night parking was a bit tight, but no problem first thing Sunday morning.

After all these years, this place still consistently delivers good quality food. You can order dim sum anytime (even at night). I like that they are on DoorDash for those lazy evenings. Their Peking duck is pretty decent for $24.99 on DoorDash. Their Sui Mai is nice and juicy. This is my comfort food spot.

Ming Dynasty was decent at best, not the superb dim sum experience that we enjoy so much unfortunately. Barely any carts rolled by, food was good but not super tasty to the point of food exhaustion and belly filling, and selection wasn't as vast compared to other great dim sum spots. Service was as expected (fast) but hardly anyone spoke English so it was tough to communicate and ambiance was welcoming but didn't feel like a typical Chinese dining experience with lively spirits and busy happiness. Beef noodle, my favorite, was subpar here and did NOT satisfy - this was a big let down. Not bad for a quick bite, but for a full on dim sum experience to achieve food coma - move past Go and just keep trucking along.

Ming Dynasty is a good place for dim sum in Sacramento. I've dined here many times and most of the experiences have been good. At this dim sum restaurant, they push the dim sum carts from table to table so you can order straight from the cart, or you can also order from your server off the menu. They don't provide the dim sum menu at the table so you have to get it from the counter if you want one. The pork siu mai was pretty good. I also liked their ha gao, shrimp noodle roll, deep fried pork puff, deep fried taro puff, soy sauce tofu, empress chicken, garlic spare ribs, turnip cake, and green tea mochi balls with black sesame. Their XLBs were just okay. The soy sauce chow mein was a miss last time we dined there. It seemed like it was just reheated and not hot. The steamed buns with egg custard inside were so so, but kids liked the ones shaped like piggies. The tea selection was good. On my last visit, they charged us an extra tea fee and charge an L dish that was M in the menu. All small things, but still things to keep an eye out for. With few dim sum restaurants in Sac, Ming Dynasty is one of the better choices right now.

I've been coming to this dim sum place the past couple of years and this is a staple. Not only the price is reasonable, but the service is great as well. My recent visit was perfect, all the items was fresh and hot, and one aspect that stood out was that the person doing the cards also mention the items in English, which helps for those people who don't speak Chinese. Overall would highly recommend this place. Just writing this review makes me hungry. Also no need to worry about the wait, on the last 3 times I've been here I've had never had to wait for a table!

Love Ming dynasty been coming here for years. Michelin star recognized restaurant but the staff is very friendly and it's homey. You don't have to dress up super nice just casual and they have dim sum carts in the morning till afternoon, after that dim sum is available to order from the menu. I usually get the jasmine tea kettle it's 1.50/person and super good, I also love the shrimp rice noodle rolls and the soup dumplings!! Pretty budget friendly if you order from the dim sum menu, and the parking is decent.

Dined at Ming Dynasty for the second time; both of which were for Chinese New Years and had a good experience each time. Many places can have could food, but the interaction with staff can make or break the experience. And either make you want to come back or never come back again. Both of my times here the staff were very friendly, and made you feel like both they wanted to be there and wanted you as a customer there. That hasn't been my experience unfortunately at some other Chinese buffets in the area. Once our whole party arrived we looked over the menu briefly, and ordered the following: Our courses: Egg flower soup Sweet & Sour Pork Lobster special Oyster fried rice Asian broccoli Lettuce wraps Fried fish Everything came out really well amd I enjoyed all of the food. My favorite who have to be the crispy salt & pepper Lobster. The batter was nice and crispy and was also perfectly seasoned. But overall I really enjoyed every dish we ordered. Overall: Friendly staff, good environment and great food.

The Chinese food was great. The beef chow mein and the my-shu tasted flavorful and very filling. The portion sizes were worth the price. The honey walnut shrimp however wasn't great, I would not recommended that. It's has a creamy like mayonnaise sauce on it that wasn't horrible but I wouldn't get it again. The dish also didn't come as much as I anticipated. This isn't a must try Chinese restaurant, but I would order here again.

I ordered the house special BBQ platter and the beef chow fun as a take out order. I was expecting roast duck with the BBQ platter as this is what was on the photo on Door Dash. I was quite disappointed. The platter came with jellyfish, seaweed salad, roast pork, cha sui, and a type of beef cold cut. I did not enjoy the jellyfish as it tasted very bland and unseasoned. The roast pork was too fatty for my liking and the skin was no longer crispy by the time I returned home with my order. Everything else was delicious. The beef chow fun was just okay. Perhaps, I'll dine in on my next visit for a more pleasant experience.

Incredible food, great dumplings highly suggest the golden shrimp roll. Staff is fantastic. A family favorite for sure.

This place is so good. We came on a Sunday at 3pm. We ordered using a pen writing on their picture menu. Everything came out hot and fresh. All of the dishes we ordered were delicious. Customer service was excellent also. The parking lot is a little sketchy though. I saw homeless camps in the area.

What time do they stop serving dim sum?

They have dim sum all day

    Do they have Peking duck?

If you read the online menu, you'll see that they have Peking Duck for $24.99.

    Is there a buffet too?

    No, they don't.

Is dim sum only in the morning? Came here at 5pm and no dim sum

Yes, dim sum is only in the morning through lunch hour. They do not serve dim sum for dinner.

Are the dim sum served from carts on weekdays too?

Yes, everything is fresh & delicious

Are dim sum carts rolling again on the weekends?

    Yes for lunch till 2:30

Do you host private parties at your restaurant?

They have all kinds of wedding receptions and large parties.

Are there many non-pork options for dim sum and do the servers know which they are? Friends will be taking us to Ming Dynasty for dim sum.

They have some non pork options but you have to make sure to say no pork, but some items are premade with pork

Are they open on Christmas? What hours?

I'm sure they'll be open because Chinese restaurants are very busy during major holidays especially for dimsum

The yelp page says, the have vegan options... what are the vegan (no meat, no egg, no fish sauce, no gelatin, etc.) options?

I've been coming to New Happy Garden for several years--back when it was just "Happy Garden"--and…read moreit used to be a spot I'd happily go out of my way for. The restaurant itself has always been large, spacious, and beautifully decorated with chandeliers--it's definitely a nice venue for events like weddings. Their taro turnovers have always been a favorite of mine, and even after moving farther away, I still found myself coming back just for them. A few months ago, my husband and I had a really pleasant experience here. We ordered a variety of dim sum and ended up taking some home because everything was so enjoyable. My husband typically orders the spicy orange chicken and has always been satisfied with it. The service during that visit was also great--the server was sweet, attentive, and we even had some fun conversations. Unfortunately, our most recent visit yesterday was a completely different experience. We came in around 11:15 AM on a Tuesday expecting a nice, casual dim sum date. I ordered har gow, siu mai, sticky rice, and shrimp balls with sweet and sour sauce, and we waited for more of the dim sum carts to come around. As usual, I ordered the spicy orange chicken for my husband. It was already off to a rough start when communication with our servers became difficult. There seemed to be a significant language barrier, and it was challenging to get our concerns across. Things went downhill when we received the "spicy" orange chicken. It was not spicy at all and, more importantly, it was severely overcooked--hard, dry, and honestly unchewable. We ordered chicken, not beef jerky. When we brought this up, the staff seemed fixated on the spice level rather than listening to the main issue. They insisted that the dish was already spicy and interpreted our concern as a request for "extra spicy." Both my husband and I can handle spice differently, but we could agree there was no spice present, and that wasn't even the primary problem--the texture was. They took the dish back, and we assumed it would be remade. Instead, it was quickly returned to us with some chili sauce sprinkled on top--the same exact overcooked chicken. I could tell it hadn't been remade because the same broken piece of chicken was still on the plate. At that point, we were frustrated and had lost our appetites. I took the dish to the register myself to explain that the issue was the texture and that the chicken was inedible. It finally seemed to click, and they apologized and offered to remake it, but by then, it felt too late. I'm not one to give third chances when something should have been handled correctly the first or second time. To their credit, they did not charge us for the dish and were apologetic, but the entire experience felt unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. That's not the level of service I expect when I'm paying to support a business. It's especially disappointing because this was meant to be our last visit before moving out of state, and it ended on such a sour note. Sadly, after this experience, I definitely do not see myself returning.

Most things are ready right when you order but because it's made fresh, when they run out there is a wait sometimes. When I got the pineapple buns in my hand they were still nice and warm, a decent size as well compared to some dimsum spots. The filling was nice and sweet, not the typical nai wong custard but a coconut, thicker filling that was nice and sweet. The bread was so soft as well and the crust was nice flaky and crunchy. It was very satisfying to bite into, no complaints here! 9/10 The sui mai was piping hot when I got it as well. They were very big and meaty and so fresh when I bit into them. Super juicy and fulfilling to eat! 8.5/10 Lastly the rice noodles, which are my favorite of all time dimsum foods. The shrimp one had such a good bite to it because of the shrimp. The rice noodles were thin and soft just how I like them! The beef one I wish had a bit more beef/beef flavor to it but still good! Time for Dim Sum...because apparently every time I watch Crazy Rich Asians, my stomach turns into a…read moredramatic main character and demands dumplings immediately. Normally, I hit up Yue Huang, but lately it's been giving "long wait, mild heartbreak." So I decided to branch out and found this hidden gem in Granite Bay...and let me tell you...BEST decision. You walk in and BAM!!!! Old school Chinese restaurant vibes. Red booths, classic decor, slightly run down in that "if these walls could talk, they'd recommend everything on the menu" kind of way. And if you know, you KNOW...that's when the food is about to slap. We came with a mission (aka hungry and slightly unhinged) and ordered: baked BBQ pork buns, shumai, har gow, shrimp rice rolls, pineapple baked custard buns, fried shrimp balls, and soup dumplings. Basically, if it could be steamed, fried, or stuffed...we said yes. It's clearly family run, which I love. Mom is running the show like a boss, kids are hustling, and since it was Mother's Day...CHAOS. Delicious chaos. Food flying out, servers holding trays of dumplings like treasures, stopping at your table and you're like "YES, THIS IS MY MOMENT"...and then they walk away to another table. Emotional rollercoaster. So many "Ooooh yay!" followed by "Ohhh man..." But honestly? It just built the suspense. Then OUR food arrived...and our eyes went WIDE. These dumplings are HUGE. Like, "one bite? absolutely not" huge. The BBQ pork buns were soft, fluffy, slightly sweet clouds of happiness. Har gow and shrimp rice rolls were perfectly steamed (no soggy sadness here ). Now, because it was busy, the shrimp had a bit of a split personality...some bites were perfectly snappy and delicious, others were just a little overcooked. Not tragic, just not living their absolute best life. But overall? Everything was GOOD. And then the check came...about $60 for ALL that food. I almost checked it twice like, "Ma'am...are you sure you charged me correctly?" Because that is a STEAL. What really got me though was the family. You could see the hustle, the stress, the love...all happening in real time. Even in the chaos, they were kind, smiling, and apologizing for the wait. That kind of heart hits different. Final verdict: great food, great value, and a whole lot of love. I'll definitely be back to try more of their main dishes. Until next dumpling craving...

Finally Returned to this restaurant! They fixed some of their service issues I had the first time I…read moredined here. Food is delicious! The golden shrimp rice rolls are the best! This time they did have the bean curd rolls which had noodles, veggies and a little meat. I do wish there were more veggies and meats served on the hong Kong house special noodles. They have decent lunch specials. My bf got the lemon chicken which he enjoyed. The egg roll did get a little soggy though bc it was soaked in the sauce.

UPDATE 4/6/2026…read more Prices are more transparent now than previously in the past. Menu items are more consistent now where as in the past the portion size would vary based off of your party size as I noticed before when ordering entree items. One time we had a party of two and ordered a dish and was smaller than when visiting with a party of 4. Same price you're paying you should get the same size portion regardless. Kings has made improvements over the years. The food is still great and worth going to!

I've been coming to King's Palace in Sacramento for over a decade, so the food being good wasn't a…read moresurprise. The interior is as massive as ever and the dim sum carts are still rolling. What made this visit stand out was the service. The aunts and uncles working today were incredibly warm and welcoming. A few of them went out of their way to compliment our young daughters and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of the entire time. That level of friendliness wasn't always the case in the past, so this felt like a really pleasant and noticeable change. The food remains consistently solid and deeply nostalgic. Every bite brings back memories of younger days, and now it's special in a different way because we get to experience it again with our daughters. It feels like passing a small piece of the past on to the next generation. During our visit we experienced great food, genuine service, and a lot of nostalgia packed into one meal.
