Roasted Pork - crispy but flavor needs a little more work
Lisa C.

Service was a little slow, but it's understandable considering they're new and probably still trying to learn and get the hang of things. Hopefully, this will improve with time. As for the food, the beef chow fun was pretty good. It had that wok hei flavor, but it needed a bit more meat...the meat-to-noodle ratio was a little off. It was slightly greasy, but that's also kind of expected with this dish. The eel clay pot was not what I expected. It's not big chunks of eel like Japanese unagi. I guess I've never had yellow eel before, but now I know I'm not a fan of it. The preserved clay pot (#1) was definitely better than the eel clay pot, but it's not the best clay pot I've had. It was lacking in flavor. Usually, the clay pots I've had and enjoyed had a lot more flavor and more protein. It did have that crispy bottom, though, so that was good! Lastly, the roasted pork had great crispy skin, but the flavor needs a little work. It's missing that five-spice flavor and needs more vinegar. Also, it tasted like they either didn't marinate it long enough or maybe blanched it first, because it was quite porky, if you know what I mean. Overall, I think they have potential and just need a little improvement and some tweaks to their dishes! Definitely need to come back in the future to see how they improve.

Very good service. I drop my chopsticks and the waiter gave me another one instantly before I even asked. The food is good, have a lot of variety. We got the rice bowl and the rice was super crunchy.

This is the best clay pot I ever had so far in the US! It tastes just like the one I had in China. The bbq pork is pretty good too, but the duck is a bit oily and salty, I believe they use oil to fry it. Short menu, and drinks not available yet cuz they just open. Service is good, keep checking if we need anything and fill our water frequently. Able to accommodate big party.

The food here is wonderful and we love getting the authentic Hong Kong style clay pot. They also have the famous roast duck which you need to get which is pipa duck. . I also like getting their clay pot with the eel and their house made bacon also their Chinese sausage as well. I also do like their pork spare ribs clay pot with Chinese sausage as well which is really good and most of the clay pot with rice is around 16 to $17. . I also got to try there wonton noodles with thin noodles and the shrimp is made with in the wonton. I also like getting their Clay Pot porridge which is really piping hot and bubbling when served. I also like their macaron Ice Cream Sandwich so don't forget to save room for that. . The service here is attentive and they always refill your water and ask if you need anything else. They also do get really busy and it does take a wait time for The Clay Pot to be prepared so make sure you order ahead or call in the order. Ambiance is casual family and cozy as well. Hope this helps and thank you for reading and have a yeptastic day.

Food- good Service- poor Ambiance- average I just wish they have more crew and keep tue open kitchen clean. Im not sure if they are renovating but there were unnecessary items by the cashier area too

Very kind staff and super authentic Chinese clay pot dishes! My grandmother really enjoyed it and noted how well techniques were. Want to come back to try their noodles dishes.

Bloody bone on the cut roasted duck that was "resting" for a while before the chef cut and plated it
Vicky L.

Second time here and I'm so disappointed with the lack of service and food that this place has to offer. The first time I came in was during lunch and both the service and food were great, as my party of 3 were the only ones there at the time. We ordered the preserved pork clay pot rice, yellow eel clay pot rice, dry beef noodles, and a whole roasted duck. The duck came last after about 35 mins and it was cut and put into 2 to-go boxes as requested. The server told us to try some on the spot and we did--it was roasted to perfection. Crispy skin and juicy meat. We visited again yesterday for dinner and it was so terrible. My party of 5 arrived around 6:45 PM and were seated quickly. We ordered the dry beef noodles, preserved pork clay pot rice, whole roasted duck, deep fried pork intestines, and the oxtail stew. Water was given about 10 mins after we ordered and all of our food was coming one by one, but the duck didn't come until an hour or more later. We were initially told by the server that it would "take a while" and that's why we ordered the duck as soon as we got seated. She checked in twice and only said "it's resting but we will cut it soon." Attached, see the photo of the undercooked duck. The bone is clearly still leaking blood. When this was brought to the chef's attention, he gaslit my mom and said "you guys should have called ahead of time so that I have time to prepare. I made 3 ducks during this time and they are all like that. If you had given me more time or waited longer, the skin would be crispy." So you're telling us that even with an hour of waiting, that was still not enough time to make it? It would've been nice to be told that BEFORE we ordered so that we can eat elsewhere. The most upsetting part was he didn't even take accountability and was blaming the customer. The least he could've done was ask if we would like a remake, a partial refund or just refund us and take the duck back. Also, if you have a party of 5 or more people, they automatically add a 18% tip and considers it a "large party." This was never disclosed on the menus or in store, so just an FYI.

The food here is absolutely astonishing! Here in the Sacramento area there's not a lot of great options for restaurants. The staff are super and take rea good care of you! Plus the place is really clean and have reasonable prices! This restaurant is a hidden gem that many people don't know about. It's only 45 mins away from Stockton and is worth the drive! If you're visiting California"s capital, make sure to stop here!

Incredible, authentic Cantonese food. Everything was super fresh and well-prepared! We came on a Tuesday afternoon and it was still almost a full house. Most if not all of the customers were speaking Cantonese too so you know this place is legit. The staff was friendly, and seeing who I presumed was the chef walk around checking on tables showed genuine care for his guests and his cooking. Highly recommend!

Great great great! Tasty food, great service, clean, affordable prices, the list could go on and on!

Food is reasonably priced and really good, there's not much places to get good duck or clay pot rice. Really a hidden gem

However, our server was incredibly well informative and friendly. We ordered and enjoyed our meal. Food comes out family style and we were incredibly full. My only criticism was that the orange chicken seemed to have no crunch. We had vegetarian tofu and mushroom dish that had a great flavor profile. I especially loved the fried rice as it tasted similar to the cooking profile of a Benihana style fried rice.

This is a famous Chinese food spot for local politicians for lunch and NBA stars and now the Oakland A baseball team. There is no back door or underground tunnel entrance or exit. Our server Yee was super nice and he liked us so much that he gave us a free slice of their famous banana pie. This pie is made fresh everyday. The pastry chef has 2 sous chefs to help. Their orders can be up to 300 pies a day! This very flaky thin crust with the beautiful layered at an angle with a fresh whipped cream topping. We wanted to try it but didn't want to get super full. We ended up finishing the complimentary piece of pie. We also had the wok fried pork spareribs that had this lovely seasoned jalapeño with that crispy bite but be careful of the bones. It reminded us of chicken wings. That crunchy crispy outside with perfectly cooked meat on the inside. The tip was to use the hot mustard and ketchup to dip it in. They give you a plate of various sauces from mild to super spicy. The sweet and sour soup is also made fresh every day with chunky vegetables with lots of flavors. We had the shrimp dumplings which were freshly made. The crab rancons were our favorite with chili sauce. These beautifully star shaped treasures were our favorites. We were super full. Parking was available due to no games going on. The street has parking but next door there is a valet lot for 12 dollars. If you're ever in the area, this is a must try experience. The place was packed but they let us stay and close the place down! Hence, this is why they've been open since 1939. Mahalo Timothy O'Connor for the recommendation! Loved the Buddha belly by the bar area up top.

The people were very friendly and the place was very clean. They have a decent size menu.. I was here for the congee, but looking at the menu, I saw the rice paper rolls. They have gotten good reviews, so I decided to try the. Chinese donut rice paper rolls. I love the savory Chinese donuts. The donuts were wonderfully savory and crispy, and the silky rice paper played against the donuts, absolutely perfectly. I'm not sure what the sauce was that was on top of it, but I loved it. It was a perfect match to the rolls. I was only gonna have one and take one home, but they were so good, I ended up polishing off both of them. For my congee, I decided to try the grass carp congee. Carp are bottom feeders so they can definitely have a muddy flavor. However, grass carp, as their name implies, swim among the grasses. It is a firm, mild tasting fish. The congee was perfect, not too thick, not too thin, and I could definitely taste the ginger and the scallions. They played along perfectly with the mild flavor of the carp. Because I had polished off both of those rice paper rolls, I made it through about half of the congee, the rest coming home with me. For congee and other Chinese dishes, I now have another place that's in my rotation. I will be back. Thank you.

The place got pretty full so I was glad to get there early. We ordered the Preserved egg pork Congee. It's the thing we get all the time now. They make it really well and my wife and I like it. She loves the egg but I let her eat that. I am not so much into that 100 year old egg. We always get the Shrimp wanton and love that too. This is our go to place lately for these two dishes. They do a good job and we are in and out in less than 45 minutes. The place is cute with little toy collectables throughout the store. The staff are nice and we come here like 2x a month or more. Worth a try I think you will like the food here.

This restaurant is a to-go only restaurant, and gets plenty of traffic from the area. I went midday (3:00pm) and there were at least 4 customers in and out during the time I was there. While I was checking their menu, I decided to order, since I remember how good their chicken wings are. I ordered the chicken wings, and a lunch combo with chicken with black bean sauce. The combo comes with chow mein and fried rice and an egg roll for $13.99 but I asked for steam rice instead of fried rice. Unfortunately, I didn't check my plate before leaving the restaurant because they gave me all steam rice and no chow mein. Despite the error, their chicken wings are still the best, and the chicken with black bean sauce was very good. I would've like to have tried the chow mein. Also, I didn't notice that they charged $16.99 for the plate, which was a little steep considering I got no chow mein. Some of the condiments are extra, like the hot mustard, so ask for it before they ring up your bill. I'm sure I'll be going back for the chicken wings because it's made fresh and it's really good.
