Stopped by Flame Cafe and had a great experience. The cafe wasn't busy when I visited, which made for a relaxing meal. I ordered the hot Hong Kong milk tea and the beef teppanyaki rice, and both were delicious. The milk tea was rich, smooth, and perfectly comforting, while the beef teppanyaki was served sizzling hot with tender beef, flavorful rice, and just the right amount of seasoning. The dog and bear ice were cute and a nice one time experience for a good Yelp picture. But, it was not easy to eat nor did it really taste like anything. The teppan set was delicious with just the right amount of seasoning. I loved that the skillet was hot enough to make some of the rice crispy. I've been to Singapore and I was totally missing Laksa and theirs hit the spot. The sparkling Mango soda was very refreshing and would be a great option for the summer. The restaurant is literally in front of 99 Ranch, not off to one side. That three me off when I was looking for it. It is fairly small but people are in and out so there was no wait while I was there. I had the calamari starter which was okay and nothing special. For my main I had the pork chop with tomato sauce and cheese over rice. The rice is actually a fried rice and was pretty good by itself. The pork chop is tender and flavorful but there's not enough compared to the amount of rice served...good thing the rice was good by itself. I also tried my friend's fried rice and it was very good but again nothing out of the ordinary. What tickled me was my Thai ice tea with a "dog" ice. This cafe is right next to (connected to) 99 Ranch. From the outside, it doesnt look like anything special but what got me here were Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The handmade noodles were delicious with the right amount of chewyness and the sauce was perfect. I do prefer spice so asked for chili sauce and what they gave me was super spicy! As far as honest truthful review goes, this restaurant's service and dishes were very disappointing. The atmosphere is Hong Kong style cafe, the ambiance, the sound system is all great but the songs that were broadcasted included profanity and it was loud volume like a concert. The food were really really underwhelming. The white sauce corn and fried fish baked rice tasted bland. The fried rice was bland. There was no sauce visible white sauce on the baked rice. It came out in less than 10 mins after ordering. I don't know if you tried baked rice at other restaurants but the speed the dish came out is obviously not a baked rice dish. Another thing ordered was curry beef stew with spaghetti-- the curry was very thin and lacked any flavor, the beef stew was all skinny lean beef stew pieces, the carrots tasted bland like they just added them into the curry separately, the potatoes were fried and then added to the curry separately as well. I didn't take a photo of the curry beef stew when it was came out but it was literally in big cappuccino cups--very difficult to eat so I asked the server for a big metal bowl instead. Never returning. 99% of the 5 star reviews on Yelp for this establishment is fake. read more

Walk towards 99 ranch market as if you're going inside, and you'll see the front door for the Flame Cafe. The place itself is small offering about 12 tables. Arriving around 11:40 AM on a Saturday there was no wait, but as we were leaving, there was a waitlist starting to form. We ordered the Hong Kong style milk tea with bear, Hong Kong style French toast, garlic chicken wings, and baked tomato pork chop. All of these items are recommended and popular. The Hong Kong style milk tea is adorable and the black tea is strong. It's creamy, sweet, but not overly sweet. Since we didn't ask about any sweetness adjustments, I was anticipating it to be quite sweet but was surprised it wasn't THAT sweet. As a person who loves their boba at 30% sweetness, this felt more of a 50-60% sweetness level. They add a lot of ice so there is not too much of the drink itself. The Hong Kong style French toast was a treat. Perfect eggy batter with a light crisp and fluffy bread interior. A dab of butter and syrup and its chefs kiss. The baked spaghetti tomato pork chop has a sweeter tomato sauce. The cheese becomes ooey gooey and the noodles had a great al dente texture. Some of the pork pieces were on the tougher/fattier side, but overall a good comfort dish. The garlic chicken wings had good flavor, were tender and moist inside, and a decent crisp on the outside. The batter is light. Service was quick and efficient. Food came out pretty fast and we were in and out in under 45 minutes. I don't get to see Hong Kong style cafes often so this was a treat to dine here. 3 items + a drink was $42 before tip. Would recommend to anyone looking for Hong Kong style comfort food! read more

We did a review and got the cute iced tea (it was kind of sweet for me). The Braised Pork has some flavors but unfortunately it was mainly a rice dish. The ratio is too much rice. The chicken pot was pretty good. I love the Sichuan spice in it. Well i love a anything spicy so this checks the box for me. It was super oily though.
