Love their selections of to go dishes. Their bentos are awesome! My goto place when craving Taiwanese food! Highly recommended

Fried chicken bento - Soooo good!!

My 1725th review is a five star for this little hidden gem! Come here for authentic no frill Taiwanese food. Walking in the space is quite cavernous, with a whole side of coolers selling frozen/refrigerated products. Too bad we are traveling, I imagine if we live here we'll frequent this place to get something for home. There are only a few tables, so we weren't sure if they are serving food on the premise, even though the reviews say so. We ordered at the counter, there's a simple menu. We loved the fried chicken bento box, the chicken was unbelievably tender, and there were a variety of vegetables, as well as red rice, to make this a healthy meal. The beef noodle is nice, with an unexpected kick to it. Also do give their melon tea a try. Very refreshing.

I love their Taiwanese sausages! Whenever I'm in the area, I always get one to eat right then and there! I also buy a pack of frozen sausages for home as well. They're just that good! It reminds me of my childhood, I used to get these type of sausages while shopping with my mom.

$15 bento includes 2 sides w/main I chose the 3-cup mushroom & tofu plus basil eggplant & cucumber salad , purple rice, charred cabbage, pickled mustard greens !!! Small deli type place w/ 2 lg tables & 2 small tables... self- serve ice water & utensils. Frozen soups, dumplings, sausage, baos, scallion pancakes available in freezer case Minimalist but comfortable, located next to the manju & shave ice spot

It's rare to find a spot in Sacramento that brings the heart of Taiwanese street food and bento-box comfort under one roof -- but Taiwan Best Mart actually delivers. Walking in feels low-key, casual, almost like a neighborhood secret that only those in the know appreciate. From the warm, home-y smells to the aisles of frozen dumplings and handmade sausage you can grab to go, it nails that balance of market + kitchen + nostalgia so many crave.

Pork Chop Bento 豬排便当 with egg and peanut anchovy sides. $15(ish?)

Small hole in the wall type of establishment. No frills. Quick friendly service. Parking was easy. Partner and I ordered 2 bentos: basil popcorn chicken and pork chop. Each come with your choice of 2 sides ! My partner chose the marinated egg as well as peanut + anchovies and I chose: tofu + century egg and basil eggplant. I loved the sides, chicken was nice and crispy and juicy. Price was around 15 bucks for each bento which is an amazing value for all the food you get. My partner completed a marathon and he didn't even finish the entire bento which goes to show how much they put in there. Will definitely come back when we are in town

Mold on the lid for the Ma Jiang Mian (Sesame noodles)

TRULY DEVASTATED! I was SOOO excited to try this place and ordered a few items. I ate my popcorn chicken while driving home and it was great. The best popcorn chicken I've had! When I got home I was unpacking my Sesame noodles and getting ready to tuck in. To my horror there was mold in the sesame sauce container when I opened it. A thick ring is mold around the container and on the lid as well. Very sad as I spent a nice $12 on it. Interior is small, service was fast. Will NEVER come again T-T

The kids and I found this by accident. It was busy but the staff worked hard to get everyone served fast. I had no clue what I was doing but ordered I think one of the best dishes I have ever had. The noodle dish with the meat, beans and cucumber was fire! We also really liked the tofu and mushroom rice bowl. Honestly, we can't wait to go back.

What a gem! This place isn't hyped up on social media (which I think they deservingly should), but they let the food do the talking. And I'm sure the locals know about this place. I ordered a popcorn chicken bowl. I was a little surprised it was a purple rice, I didn't know that when I ordered. But it was totally fine. The chicken alone was very flavorful and well seasoned that it didn't need any sauces. But paired with the rice, made it the perfect quick on the go type of meal. I would order this again. The portions were great the chicken was fried to perfection.

This is a small hole in the wall, located on the same block as Osaka-Ya. We stopped by for a quick snack and thoroughly enjoyed both the popcorn chicken and green onion pancake! The popcorn chicken had good flavor and wasn't dry. The green onion pancake was nicely fried to a crisp with lots of green onion flavor. Small section for indoor dining. I noticed a lot of door dash/to go orders while we were there. They also sell a lot of frozen and dry items you can buy and take home for hot pot, etc.

Always comes for their bentos and never disappoint! But why?!!! Why sushi?!! They are better to do on what they are good at, Taiwanese bento boxes. Got to try the cal rolls and it was just ok. Big pieces, should have cut them into half again.. the avocado was unriped... I was about to order with raw fish but glad that I just did the basic cal roll to see their quality ...

Even before I started to explore more of Sacramento's growing food scene, I kind of figured I'd find most cuisines represented. The city/area is certainly large enough to support it, but I admit I had doubts as to how good some of those places would be. However, even after trying just one Taiwanese restaurant, I'm already jealous. Not sure if that says more about how scant our options are in SF, but boy do I wish we had a place like Taiwan Best Mart! Based entirely on its appearance, Taiwan Beat Mart probably doesn't look all too impressive. The decor is pretty scant and the space isn't all that large (they can seat about a dozen people across their handful of tables), though I've never seen this place get very busy, as most folks seem to get their food to-go. As for the menu, despite how it's not super extensive, it's still filled with a bunch of staples, like Stewed Pork Over Rice, Zha-Jiang Mian, Popcorn Chicken, and Cold Sesame Noodles. They also have frozen offerings of many of their dishes (like the Zha-Jiang Mian sauce, Stewed Pork, etc.), as well as a bunch of Taiwanese specialties, like sausages, wontons, zongzi, salted duck yolk, and meatballs. -- POPCORN CHICKEN BENTO BOX with Stewed Pork, Stewed Egg, Charred Taiwanese Cabbage, and Signature Pickled Mustard Greens...$15 I wasn't sure what to expect when I got this, but this was great! The chicken was moist, the batter was crispy and well seasoned, the stewed pork was luscious and flavorful, and the stewed egg was cooked perfectly. Would definitely get this again! -- TAIWANESE FRIED CHICKEN...$9 I had high hopes for this and, thankfully, it didn't let me down! The seasoning on this was the same as on the popcorn chicken and the chicken itself was really moist. The most impressive part of this was how the outside stayed crunchy even after the drive back. -- ZHA-JIANG MIAN - Knife-Cut Black Bean Noodles and Sauce with Ground Pork, Beancurd, Edamame, Sweet Flour Sauce, Bean Paste, Taiwanese Bok Choy, Julienned Cucumbers, and Scallions...$12 This would've been better for dine-in, but I love how the to-go container kept everything separate. While the noodles were a bit overcooked, they still had a nice bite and I liked how there was a good amount of meat, tofu, and edamame in the sauce. True to just about any mom-and-pop business, service here is terrific. The guy working the register (owner?) was more than happy to answer all of my questions and was really nice. Unfortunately for me, though, was that the one thing that I really wanted to try (their Beef Noodle Soup) wasn't listed on the menu, presumably because it's summer now? Not sure why, as it's not like it's also 100+ degrees inside the restaurant as well, but I guess that just means I have that much of a reason to come to Taiwan Best Mart! Between Binchoyaki, Southside Super, and now Taiwan Best Mart, this tiny patch of Sacramento is home to some really good eats! And that's without even mentioning the ever popular Osaka-ya just a few doors over, which I still need to try. I guess that just means getting dessert over there just doubles the reason for me to come back here!

my friends and i came here on a whim since we were craving some popcorn chicken. it's a tiny little mom & pop shop ran by 2 people. they have a pretty solid selection of bentos, appetizers, and al la carte items. i got the stir fried cabbage and spicy wontons. my friend got the basics popcorn chicken. the popcorn chicken was delicious! i would come back just to get this, the fried cabbage was just alright; it was a tad bit too oily for me. as for the wontons, they were delicious but nothing special. overall, i would come back again! the owner is extremely nice and patient :)

Despite there being endless selections in Sacramento sometimes the American Chinese options are .... bleh ... They are either too oily. Mediocre taste. Overpriced. It's hard to find one that really stands out. Recently my coworkers and I all pitched in on takeout from here for Lunar New Year and ordered five dishes as takeout. One of my coworkers was the one who recommended this spot. Let me just say the food was incredible. The seafood chow mein was the standout dish out of everything. Loaded with octopus tentacles, scallops, shrimp. Feel like half the time you get seafood options these days they skimp out but this place did not disappoint. The fried rice was a little more unique than I've personally tried before with pieces of beef and cabbage. But still very tasty. And the pork dishes we got including the sweet and sour were just incredible. One thing I do want to mention was some pieces of the pork did have a bone attached, but I honestly didn't mind it much. The flavor made it up for it. Also inside of this place looks very modern, clean. Since we only got takeout I can't say for certain service for sit down but ordering and getting our food was simple. The staff were very kind and friendly. Again, THANK GOD I finally have a good Chinese food option. No more oily salty food or Panda Express.

So I'm planning my next trip here this week so I can enjoy the amazing cucumber salad (so fresh, crunchy and garlicky), their pepper beef clay pot (sizzling rice at the bottom for the win and big portions), their spicy tofu (umm what?!? So crispy) and their awesome skewers (the pork belly is my favorite). The space is small, so if you're planning on dining in during peak times, you may want a back up or take it to go as they only have a handful of tables inside and a few tables outside. There is parking but it is shared with other business so can get busy. The service is wonderful! The hostess/waitress was very friendly and everything came out relatively quick. The clay pot does take some time (they need to cook up the rice to get that awesome crunchy bottom) so place your order for that first, and then look at the appetizers and skewers as they come out fast. This was my first trip but will not be my last to Da Fei Ge!

It was nice enough that I tried to come here on a weekend night and it was packed full of families which is great but probably where I should have thought about it more. During this time a group came up behind us and I thought they were after us. One of the server waved in our general direction after cleaning up and splitting the table, so I thought they were gesturing to us since it has already been 10 minutes of waiting. Wrong, it was to the group behind us. Maybe it was communicated in mandarin that they had a reservation, I'm not sure. I waited for the next empty table, which was also taken by yet another group that magically appeared behind us as if they knew they were in line. I decided to leave after this. My issue is that I looked and talked to the staff multiple times and at no point, did they indicate there was a waitlist, nor did they take my name, or anything about people in front of us. It was really frustrating because being told it would be a few minutes set the wrong expectation. This is not the only place to get skewers so if you're left confused where you are in line, just come another weekday, speak mandarin, or go somewhere else like I did

Apparently the register went down shortly after I hung up. When I arrived the line was almost to the door and the place felt very busy. The kitchen had lively music playing and several cooks working while the cashier tried to manage orders and write things down on receipt tape since the system was down. She was polite and clearly doing her best. My order had already been sitting on the counter, but since the register wasn't working she had to ask again what I ordered. While I was waiting, two customers behind me walked out and another canceled her order. It probably would have helped if customers were notified right away that the register was down. I also noticed dine in plates and bowls of soup being placed on the counter near the register where customers were standing, with a lot of activity happening around them. Eventually the system came back up and I was able to pay, but by then my food had gotten cold. For about $75 for five items I expected a better experience. The shrimp and pork dumplings had a noticeably strong fishy flavor and the beef roll was cold and lacked flavor. I understand technical issues happen but better communication and fresher food would have made a big difference. If the service flow improves I'd be open to giving them another try.
