I love Tacodeli! Seriously, the only problem I have with it is that it's busy and it's not open past 3ish. Is that a reason to give it less than 5 stars? Not really. So, this is one of several Tacodeli's in the area, but the closest to my house, so I come by whenever the timing is right and I need some tacos! They have SO MANY tacos and I love the way the menu is set up. They have everything written out by meat, so you can figure that part out first and you are golden! Here's the best part for me and my family: literally every single thing on the menu is gluten free if you get a corn tortilla. That is a freakin' miracle. Thanks Tacodeli! I'm a big fan of the vegetarian tacos here. The Papadulce is a must try, even if you aren't vegetarian. It's one of the most delicious tacos I've ever had, and pretty inventive. I'm also a big fan of the migas plate with the mashed potatoes. And no, I've never had mashed potatoes at another taco place before....but these are so very good. The line is long, but it goes fast. This location has plenty of outdoor seating if it's a nice day too. If you are gluten free or vegetarian, this place is right up your alley. Don't really get the hype. We went at 10am but could only order from the breakfast menu. The tortillas were rubbery and tasted like the packaged tortillas you get at the grocery store bread aisle. The eggs looked/tasted like they came from a jug, not freshy-cracked. In short, everything was edible but not memorable. And for $3-4 per (small-ish) taco, not worth it. Love coming to this Tacodeli location. I always order online or call ahead bc this location can get very busy. Super friendly staff that is both attentive and accommodating. I usually get the Jess Special and add bacon. If I'm wanting to save on the carbs I have them just put it all in a large cup for me and cut the tortilla out. I get that we are in the middle of COVID but the attitude is unnecessary. They had me wait in the rain outside because they failed to inform me when I placed my order (over the phone) that I had to text "a number" with my location outside of the store (????). I have been going to this place for years and don't get me wrong it's amazing. However today I ordered the migas only to get home and find out that it had a price of random steak in it. I was so excited to try Tacodeli for lunch as many people rave about it. However, I visited the Tacodeli on N Burnet Rd and was underwhelmed. Got in line at Noon and waited 15 minutes to order because the line was so long (that has to say something!). It then took 10 minutes for them to bring out my tacos. I had the tikin xin (Tuesday special) and the moto fish taco. I would not order the tikin again as it was very bland. The moto fish had guacamole on it and hence why I ordered it, but the guac seemed like a runny store bought version. I do enjoy grabbing their breakfast tacos on my way to work and they are delicious! However, for lunch, I think I'll stick to Torchy's. read more

Bro this place SUCKS. I am Mexican so I know what a taco should taste like. I came in knowing these were going to be white washed tacos but holy crap they were still SO bad. Everything was sweet? The meat was chewy and had a weird aftertaste. The tacos didn't have good flavor combinations, and the queso tasted like velveeta and was mad runny. I visited Tacodeli while in town visiting family. My cousin kept raving about this place, and I can see why. We started with queso and guacamole. I loved that they gave us fresh bags of unopened chips, the guacamole was super fresh with lots of lime and cilantro just like I like it, and the queso had lots of flavor and wasn't thick and gloopy like queso can be. I also appreciated that they use locally sourced ingredients. Our tacos were superb, and the carne asada in my tacos was so tender, delicious, and not gristly at all. I have already located the nearest Tacodeli to where I live which is almost an hour away in Dallas, but I will definitely be visiting again. read more

One of the best Tacos I have tasted in Austin. I got a Space Cowboy and the Huevos Ahogados and both were equally delicious. I would recommend eating the egg one first since it tends to be moist and might break the taco earlier. My only issue was that I asked for corn and got flour tortillas. This is the spot! Out of all the taco joints in Austin, this is my favorite. I've tried various tacos and haven't found one I don't like. My favorites are the Tacoloco, Shrimp Taco, and Pollo Fantastico. Service has always been good. Minor complaints: -A little pricey for a taco joint (around $12 for three tacos), but then again, the tacos are worth it, so I really can't complain. We've come to this location numerous times and loved it but honestly with the Covid situation currently they're not organized enough to handle it it seems. We've been trying to support all of the local business in the area during this time but this was by far the worst managed situation yet. The biggest thing is the one girl taking out orders should learn to be a bit more helpful. Numerous people were confused and upset around me. They have small chairs by the door saying to text a number you are there but no one was informed of that when we placed the order. We were told to leave a description of the car so that they could bring the order when they saw the car but they weren't doing that at all. They were only bringing orders out for people who texted. Again everyone around me was confused and upset we were waiting 20-30 minutes with no one willing to help or answer questions. So between the entire organizational disaster and the girls attitude and unwillingness to help anyone I'd recommend supporting other local business during this time. Mmmm....Cowboy tacos are the best....chunks of tender beef tenderloin, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, grilled corn and queso fresco....so delicious. Or should I say "Delicioso!" But suddenly there was a flying intruder.... Me: It's a bee! A bee! A bee! Husband: ----- Me: He's right in my face! Husband: ----- Me: Oh no! He just sat on my Cowboy taco! A server at the Lamar location once told me an explanation why TD's hours are only till 3p, where their competitors stay open way later and open the same time: mostly it was due to the lack of traffic past 3p to their Spyglass location. Fish Taco - uh, the fish taco gave me a chance to play with the habanero and verde sauces, and the result was totally and unequivocally not pussified. How many places can you can mix Diet and Wild Cherry Pepsi together at a soda fountain? I have no idea, but you can do it here. I'm one of the last people in Austin to jump on the Taco Deli train. There is always a line out the door, but the line moves quickly. Order at the counter and they happily delivered your order to you in a timely manner. It is possible to take a lunch here. Free chips, but be sure to ask for them. The chips are thin and crispy, a great tool for scooping up the delicious salsas at the salsa bar. The green sauce is great if you like creamy sauces. I prefer mixing the tomatillo and habanero salsas. The tart tomatillo is balanced by the sweet, spicy habanero. The tortas are nothing special. If you go, definitely get the tacos and taco platters on corn, flour or wheat. I've eaten about half of the menu. Every item is good. The high quality protein has good flavour and the toppings are fresh. I like the bustling atmosphere and the super, super efficient and cheerful staff. They make you feel happy and welcomed, yet can push you along so you don't hold up the line. So hop on the train if you're not on it. I'll be riding it for a while. read more

We planned a lateish lunch for us...a little after 1 pm...and there was still a line just outside the front door, that and the rave reviews told us they have good grub. My wife enjoyed, a Akaushi ground beef Picadillo taco, I confirmed the goodness with a small taste. I devoured/demolished a pork al pastor taco and a slightly better ribeye taco called a carne asada, got a sampling of the four different sauces and applied on top of my tacos...very tasty. I am deducting one star because the tortillas...we went with flour...were unexceptional, and the tacos are not what i'd call abundant. I recently tried a little hole in the wall taco place in Round Rock named Tortilleria Mama Sara's, the tacos were even better than here, although the selection was a lot smaller as well as the actual size of the place verged on tiny....we'll definitely return for more when we're in the neighborhood. I went to yoga this morning with a friend. Different from my normal "work" yoga classes, this one totally kicked my ass. To celebrate/commiserate, my friend took me to meet her BF at TacoDeli. I let them each pick a taco for me -- he chose the Fundido Sirloin and she chose the Mojo Fish. They were both AMAZING!! The queso leaves something to be desired but frankly, I'm not obsessed with queso anyway. The guy at the front gave me my diet dp for free and was gorgeous! The tacos were fresh, flavorful, lots of variety and just the perfect size in a double corn tortilla. I'll be back for breakfast tacos and the hot young guy with the red hair and killer eyes. read more
