I like this place a lot! We went on taco Tuesday so we got tacos (duh!) They have great deals (see menu in picture section). In addition to the taco discounts we got a margarita discounted (not bad at all) and chips with cheese sauce (they were okay. But at the price, very very enjoyable). They had three vegetarian options for tacos - which was enough for me, and I liked them all! I thought the vibe was great. We ate in the fenced in sidewalk area which was outside - exactly where I want to eat in California. I'm giving it 4/5 instead of 5/5 because the tacos could use a littleee more flavor - but hey, the standards high in this part of the country. I would go back! read more

I ordered a 3 taco special, a Cali-style burrito (because i had to try one while visiting Cali, obviously), and some chicken tortilla soup. The soup was probably the highlight of the meal. It was not too spicy, but still had a nice heat to it. I crunched up a few of my tortilla chips and threw them in there too, because why not... After having a cali-style burrito, I can say that i'm not really a fan. It was very dry. I added guac for an extra 2 dollars, and feel like that the amount i paid for was pretty small. I also subbed a whole wheat tortilla which was neat that they had the option for that. The taco special - i had one fish, which was pretty decent, i wished it was breaded and fried... but it was good either way. Number two was an Al Pastor taco, and this was probably the better of the three in the special. If i could do it over again, i would order two pastor and one of something else. Lastly, i had a fish of the day, which i'm pretty sure was the same exact thing as the first fish taco, i had, which i was a little disappointed by. It was good, but not really worth a second visit while I was in the area. read more

I would not recommend this place whatsoever. I went in on a weeknight, and the food was cold. Tortillas were not even cooked and service was mediocre ....not worth going back to or even trying out. This seems like a bar that serves food... I walked in the back and I thought I walked into a bar. Outdoor seating looked nice. Took 3 taco plate To-Go. I would not recommend the chicken. Bland unseasoned meat. The Ground beef and pork were okay. Good amount of meat and good amount of lettuce and tomatoes and cheese ! Taco Shore is in a great location in Long Beach. Second street has a great Main Street vibe with lots of eating and shopping options. Throw in its proximity to the water, and it makes Southern California's weather even that much nicer. When I stumbled across this place, I was really happy to be able to get some great Mexican food that So Cal is so famous for. I had the flautas - they were great! I was surprised I had room for them because I almost completely filled up on the delicious chips and salsa. The restaurant seemed a little short staffed that day. However, my server Ramon, never missed a beat. I think he was covering the entire restaurant that day. No matter how busy he was, he was very nice and we never had to wait. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. He didn't flinch when my partner wanted multiple changes to his dish! Ramon definitely helped me have a great dining experience! read more

We thought it was happy hour, as the outside sign was misleading, stating it was HH from 2-6 PM. After we are seated, we discover HH ends an hour earlier on Friday and isn't consistent with the rest of the week. It's Friday after 5PM, we stay anyway. What made me happy about Taco Surf: *Complimentary bottomless basket of freshly fried tortilla chips and great salsa *Dos Equis amber on draft Reasons why the rest of the food experience was mediocre: *My friend orders the grilled fish tacos, and she says "I keep eating waiting for the flavor to kick in" as she pours on the hot sauce (and she doesn't even like hot sauce). *My combo plate was missing some key ingredients. -The spanish rice was sparse and dry -The cheese enchilada could of used some cheese inside. Honestly there was more cheese on top of the enchilada than in it. I've eaten here a few times in the past, but have definitely had more memorable meals. It is probably best to spend your dollars here during happy hour. read more

Killer happy hour w/ $1.50 tacos and $3 beers. Filling burritos, killer carnitas, great chips and probably my favorite salsa in Long Beach, heavy on tomato and onion. Super casual. Old-school lollipops on your way out. Unlike the other 4 Taco Surfs, this is the only one with a patio, and it overlooks the busy 2nd street sidewalk, so eat there or the bar. The booths are hard and wooden. It's like riding Amistad. read more

There is metered street parking and it's not too hard to find a spot. The decor is also beautiful and it's a wonderful ambiance with consistent GREAT service. On the real real- I am disappointed in the food. Each time. Every time I've been here I actually don't eat the food beyond a bite or tie because it's just not good. However, I will say if you are looking for a cute place to people watch on second street and grab a cocktail then this is perfect. I've tried over half of the menu and I've never been impressed with anything. I never can even get past one or two bites. I kept going back to give them another shot, but at this point, I've decided I can't recommend anyone to eat here, especially for the price point. This last visit I had an amazing bartender and preserved a poke bowl, ceviche, and shrimp cocktail. None were good and I can't even call them satisfactory. I had two bites of the poke and it was bland, boring, and actually tasted bad. Same with the shrimp. The ceviche was also off and my friend and I left full plates and no questions were asked as to why and if we liked the food. We didn't. Very cute place, friendly servers. Mediocre at best food, and very expensive. This 11th chance leaving disappointed (and hungry) was the last chance. I tried.

If you're looking for a spot with great atmosphere, a trendy vibe, and beautiful décor, this is definitely it. My favorite time to go is on the weekends for breakfast. I've gotten fish and chips a bunch of times; sometimes the fish great--but sometimes it is slightly under-fried. Today I tried their fried chicken sandwich and it was not great. The menu described the sandwiches coming with pickled vegetables, but it was very plain. The brioche bun was great, but it's not the selling point. The fries oddly also always come with a teaspoon of ketchup. My biggest gripe is the service. I stopped by to have lunch with my mom. I ordered a soda before we placed our food order. While we looked over the menu, I took a few sips of the soda and finished it. My mom drank her water, and finished it. The server came back and took the order, the drinks were empty and never refilled. Whatever, NBD. However, 10 more minutes passed and I flagged down a different server and asked for a refill. (My server had disappeared). The food came out eventually, my drink was nearly empty again--no refill. The runner asked if I needed anything else after setting the food down and I again asked if I could grab a refill (the server still has not come back to the table). I looked around and he was chatting it up with a bartender leaning against the wall and giggling. Super annoying-- I'm glad the culture here means that the employees are friends and can talk and joke around. I don't need constant engagement, but you can't let drinks stay empty for lengthy periods of time. Half way done with the food, we still had empty drinks. Server never came back, runner never came back. Finished the food and sat for ten mins. Flagged down yet again another server and asked for the check. My server made his was over with the check--tips START at 25%, then 23%, then 20% Our lunch was about $70 (without the tip). This isn't McDonald's. The food was meh and the service was terrible. The cost did not make me feel like there was any value given the lack of attentiveness and quality of the meal.

We started with Riley's on 2nd in Belmont Shores, Long Beach. The passport recommended the BBQ Bacon Burger, but I'm not much for BBQ sauce. So, I ordered the Bacon Brie Burger and the Hubs ordered the Short Rib Melt. Hubs gave me a bite of the Short Rib Melt. (We always share). The pickled onions and arugula really made the sandwich sing. Loved the tart with the saltiness of the meat. The Bacon Brie Burger, first, all burgers are 1/2 pounders. Very filling. This burger was hella delicious! I probably won't order it again. No reflection on the burger itself nor the chef. It's just that I was burping brie the rest of the night. Well worth it. If I do order it again, I think I will pass on the garlic mayo. I don't typically eat mayonnaise. Or, next time, I'll either order the Short Rib Sandwich or the Ahi Poke Salad. The service was pretty slow and the bartenders were eating at the corner of the bar conversing with eachother. You could tell there was no manager involved. The Brussel sprouts were amazing! Would definitely order again. The eggs rolls and steak sandwich were not it.

What a fun experience! We came to Taco Shore with 3-7 year old girls and 3 overwhelmed moms and the waitress was so patient as we navigated kids picky tastes from the menu. I believe the waitress is the owners daughter, and she handled our train wreck with grace. Now the food! I ordered the 3 shrimp taco plate and I swear, it was so flavorful that I didn't need a side, a sauce or a condiment! The shrimp were fresh and flavorful and I was pleasantly surprised with the fajita veggies keeping the taco moist. Now drinks! After a long day with kids ( and yes we Ubered home) I treated myself to a spicy Cadillac margarita on the rocks. I swear it was the most wonderful sweet/ spicy / sour drink I had. I could not stop drinking it. Needless to say with such good service, outdoor seating, food and drinks, that we are returning this weekend and hope to make it a permanent hang! read more

This is the best Americanized Mexican restaurant! They serve authentic Mexican food with American service. I love their scorpion chowder( it's like claim chowder but unique as their signature soup), it's the best chowder I ever have. Their fish of the day is good also the happy hour tacos are tasty and cheap.Shrimp tacos are awesome. The place is near the beach, so it's fun if you seat outside and watch people walk. They serve good alcohol too, not too strong, the michelada is great also the strawberry margarita. read more

Taco Shore is hands down one of the best spots in Long Beach! The service is always amazing--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about their customers. The food? Absolutely delicious! From the perfectly seasoned tacos to the mouthwatering burritos, everything is fresh and full of flavor. The margaritas are top-notch too! Whether you're there for a quick lunch, happy hour, or a night out, Taco Shore never disappoints. Highly recommend! read more

Service was fine.. Wasn't happy at all with my order though. I ordered a Baja fish burrito. The fish was burned. it was very thinly sliced fish and a thick layer of breading. The white rice was undercooked, not very pleasant to chew... And the black beans were extremely dry. I probably should of mentioned something to waiter but I took one bite and lost my appetite. My boyfriend was done eating by the time a waiter came back around anyway. There goes $10.. read more

Ordered take-out. Great nachos & carnitas. I wish the enchiladas were a bit more exciting or the price. My husband got the tortilla soup with his entree and that was really good but I got a side salad and it basically was crudely chopped iceberg with a sloppy serving of tomatoes and shredded cheese. Not worth the up charge. Overall we really enjoyed our meal! We will be ordering again! P.S. delivery was EXTREMELY quick. (Yay!) read more

My absolute favorite spot for Mexican food. I've been going there for years. I used to go every tuesday for taco tuesday. My favorite item are the Ensenada Shrimp Tacos, positively amazing! Their guac and salsa are always fresh and the crowd and atmosphere are great. You can definitely tell it's a local spot. There drinks are pretty cheap and their food is moderately priced and well worth it. read more

Taco Surf is usually pretty good. Big portions at a decent price. However, I came in for taco tuesday a couple weeks ago and they forgot about us! After we had been waiting 30 minutes and they had sat two or three parties that came after us, we decided to bail and migrate to another taco place. I'm torn- the food is solid, but the customer service has disappointed us on more than one occasion. read more

I would've given this place 3 stars except for the fact that me and my dinner partner were sick the whole next day. We both had pretty much the same thing except he had a combo plate with fish. The place has a great feel with wood shavings on the floor, attentive staff and an outdoor eating area right on second street. The food is pretty standard mexican...nothing out of the ordinary. read more

The Baja fish tacos and veggie tacos are great not to dry. Its a really good atmosphere lots of people having a good time. Taco Surf packs the veggie taco full of all the goodies and less fatness but still tastes great. The location is nice right on 2nd Street in Long Beach, party down 2nd then later that night go back to Taco Surf for round 2!! read more

Kinda hate to admit this but they have the best hot wings ever. This Mexican food restaurant throws down on the hot wings. They used to be huge wings but I noticed they scaled back on the chicken but they are still delicious. They have a great Happy Hour with $1 beers and $1 tacos. Dinner can be very cheap. read more

I have eaten at this place for the past 5 years when I go to belmont shore. It can get crowded and tought to find a seat. I like to sit outside near the side walk so I can see the people and different dogs. The food is good enough for a quick bite to eat and a beer. read more

That is why we headed to our fave taco place near the Y Los Altos. Last time I got the street tacos and noticed the beef, asada carne tacos were not tender, not much flavorful but today was perfect, lots of tender beef, so fresh, especially shredded beef was OMG!!! Super tasty, super tender, even lime margarita was perfect. Happy hour started at 2:30 today, just $5 for margarita. My hubby got 5 crispy tacos w shredded beef, he was sooooo happy about the high quality of beef, salsas, chips, and service. We both left so happy, so full...w one crispy taco, my one street taco, and lots of salsas... I think Taco Tuesday, Taco Friday were less portions, less qualities of meats, even thou the price $2. Service was fast, like they expect you to know your order immediately before you get to the counter. Ambiance-wise, this is zero frills. This is chaos, and they have tacos. But, it was absolutely worth it. Their shredded beef tacos dorados were bomb. Loaded with greasy goodness, the healthiest part felt like the dousing of salsa and the shredded cheese (the poor lettuce didn't even stand a chance). Just accept that you're not here to make healthy choices, you're living in the moment and it feels better. My husband got the al pastor tacos and they were pretty solid, loaded with onions and cilantro. Again, put a heavy dousing of their spiciest salsa and you're golden. Embrace the chaos, and enjoy your tacos.

The menu is quite varied, I couldn't decide on what I wanted. They have TVs out on the patio playing sports; one of them displayed pictures of some of their food items, and that was how I finally decided on their taco shell salad with shrimp. My friend ordered their campechana which comes with shrimp, octopus and I think abalone. He really enjoyed it. On the other hand, my shrimp taco salad was just okay. They leave the shell on half the shrimp when most places only leave the tail on. This caused there to be more of that black vein/guts which I cleaned a lot out. I should have taken a picture of that pile of nastiness. Other than that, the food tasted fine. The server was very friendly - the agua de jamaica also delicious and refreshing. I would come back and try other items on the menu... just probably not anything with shrimp in it, haha. They have a little parking lot (7th street is exit; entrance is through the other side). A good amount of seating outside with a couple of tables inside. If memory serves me right, one bathroom on the way to the kitchen. My rating is more like a 3.5. I'll update when I return and try something else. I always give places at least two chances.
