I only came in here to appease my friends. They wanted beer, and I love tacos so I agreed. Take note, I have been a server for my entire adult life. I have served country kitchen restaurants where a family of 5 can eat for 20$, to black tie eateries. Where a family of five would run up a tab of close to 300$. I understand the struggles, the frustrations, and everything that comes with serving tables. I GET IT. So, every time I go out to eat, I tip generously, clean up as if I had to bus the table, and I make the experience easy on the both of us. This is the first time I can say that I left nothing for my server. She came to the table, and didn't say a word. No name tag, no introduction. Just Jane Doe staring at us waiting for us to say something I guess. She continued to just stand there for about 10 more seconds before I finally spoke and asked for a glass of water and a Miller. She wrote it down, and looked right back up. Still not another word. My friends followed in suit, still all just as confused as me. She walked away without another word. I watched her as she walked into the kitchen, and then back out. She had a co worker with her and was talking to her about something that was clearly frustrating her. She was throwing her hands up and freaking out. She turned around and looked at me and continued talking to her co worker. Her co worker looked up at me as well with an eat sh*t and die look. So I asked my friends if any of them knew her and that's why she was being quiet and raging at her co worker. No one knew her. Anyways, she returned to the table and finally spoke. Asking if we had made any decisions. I ordered 3 steak tacos with no peppers. Again, my friends followed in suit with their orders. She smiled and left. Leaving the menus, and cutting my friend off of her order for queso. The food was quick to come. No complaints there. But I wish it would have just stayed in the kitchen. My tacos were swimming. In a combination of un drained pico de gallo, grease, and some other unidentifiable liquid. This made the already soft flour tortilla into a cold damp mush. I took one bite, and that was all I ate for the rest of the evening. My friend insisted that I say something, but I didn't want any more food anyways because my swimming steak tacos were so discomforting. Everyone else's food was mediocre at best. Beer was great though. She might've have actually gotten a tip if she ever actually RETURNED to the table. She was running all over the place but never looked over at us. We were ready to leave for almost 45 minutes before I finally gave up and got the attention of another server. I never do this because I know how annoyed I get when a guest does it me, but we were ready to leave and our sad excuse for a server just couldn't give less of a sh*t about us. We asked her if she could please get our server because we have been waiting for a very long time and then I pointed her out. She walked over to our server and pointed over to our table. I watched as she was staring at the POS. She printed out our check, stuck it in a check presenter and handed it to the other server who we had called over to get our real servers attention. We needed split checks, so I sent the check back with the poor girl and I watched our server still at the POS shake her head the entire 10 seconds it took her to split our checks. We had empty drink for our entire meal except for the nice lady who happened to walk by with a pitcher of water to refill mine. This was a sad and pathetic experience. She got 0$ from our table and it was well deserved. I don't care how terrible your life is. Your fake a smile, and you provide great service to your guests. Because THEY PAY YOUR BILLS. How does she still have a job here. read more
