I enjoyed Taco Chelo. This review is really a 3.5. There are several taco spots in the area, and this spot was close to my Airbnb, so I decided to try. It was good. My order was wrong as I asked for no cream or cheese, but overall, it was good. I did like the salad with the pumpkin seeds so much so that I came back for the same salad the next day. The salad is a bit overpriced for the amount of food you receive, maybe it's just a small to go portion, but it was different and good enough. Might be worth checking out if you're in the area.

Really cool spot in the Ro Ro district! Stopped in today with a buddy and it was a great experience! We came in when happy hour was happening and good thing we snagged a table at 5:30pm, because shortly after, the place was full. I wasnt very hungry as I just had a snack with another friend so only got some chips, salsa, guacamole and also a michelada (they use Tecate light for the beer). The place is pretty busy and trendy and lot of people in here. Was a bit loud as I was literally shouting to my friend. Salsas were good, michelada was good and my friend said his quesadilla with beef was very good. Overall, a great place to chill and hang out on a Friday evening! I'd definitely come back!

I though it was good but I wasn't wowed. I was alone having a few beers and wanted some tacos: a classic Phoenix night. I sat at the bar hoping for efficiency but didn't t really get it. I was one of two patrons and had to gently remind them that I had indeed ordered some food. I like the patio area and it's a great location so a little jump will go a long way. Tacos weren't bad but a bit cold and not enough wow factor. It's in my walking path so I'll likely try again.

This place is so good! I was looking for awesome tacos, and I'm so glad I stopped here. They have an outdoor patio and plenty of seating inside- tables and at the bar. This is a casual spot where you order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to you. They also open at 11:00 and by 11:10 every table was taken. So I'd recommend stopping in when they open or waiting. I ordered the fish tacos, and they were the best tacos I've had. They had huge pieces of fish, cabbage, salad, and more. I could barely hold them. I should've used a fork, but I made it work. I highly recommend stopping here for great tacos!

Went here on a Saturday night with friends. It was only my second visit here. It did not disappoint. I ordered the chicharonnes, carne asada taco, and Taco Gobernador. Everything was SO GOOD but that Taco Gobernador was the star! My friend got ceviche which I tried and it was good. My other friend got tacos, I don't remember which ones though. They tried my Taco Gobernador and we have all been talking and thinking about it since we left. I will be back to order a bunch of them soon. It packed and loud but the vibes were great. The bartender was personable and sweet. We got to watch him make and/or pour batches of horchata which is amazing! The salsa was also great too.

We came across this spot while strolling around downtown PHX. It had a steady stream of customers and felt lively and fun. The prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The restroom is shared with neighboring restaurants, so you'll need to ask for a key. Thankfully, there's a handwashing station right outside if you just need to wash your hands. Review on the food: Chicharrones - Just okay. The guac was made with real avocado but lacked flavor. Chicken & Barbacoa Tacos - My friends really enjoyed them. Crispy Taco - Super messy but pretty good. Carne Asada Quesadillas - Tasty. I liked it. Horchata - DELICIOUS! I really want to try their other house-made agua frescas and margaritas next time. Desserts- I think it was a tres leches with coconut - yummy, not too sweet. Overall, we had a great time hanging out in their outdoor patio. Good food, great vibes. I'd definitely go back for a light bite.

Since it was "officially" National Taco Day, as well as Taco Tuesday, the hubby and I wanted to try out a new taco spot. So.... we decided on Taco Chelo on Roosevelt Row. As soon as we walked in, we loved the vibe and atmosphere! Super chill and relaxing. They offer a walk-up style, seat yourself ordering process. The restaurant isn't super big, but they do offer indoor and outdoor seating as well as a small bar. We decided on a variety of tacos and the chips, salsa, and guacamole. We really enjoyed everything we tried! The food was tasty and the drinks were the perfect way to end our day! We will definitely be back!! Bonus - it was also HH so we even saved some $$$!

We had a good time here. The patio set up was perfect to hang w sum good tacos and a beer. The order process is easy and they were courteous and helpful with the menu. The tacos were tasty and the beer was crisp and refreshing. I would def swing by again if I'm in the area.

I tried this place once for takeout and thought the tacos were good enough to eat again. Unfortunately, my 2nd visit completely changed my mind. I stopped in today, I was told that the Crispy Tacos (minced shrimp) include bacon -- which is **not listed anywhere on the menu**. That's incredibly misleading. I don't eat meat, and including pork as an unlisted ingredient is a huge issue. This isn't a minor detail; it's a serious oversight. Not listing bacon in a dish is unacceptable, especially when dietary restrictions are common and easily avoided with transparency. Because of this, I'll never eat here again.

The place was packed and getting a table wasn't fairly easy. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas which was good. The tacos were okay. I liked that they have a handwashing station outside.

The only reason this place doesn't get a 1/5 I've whew the chorizo torta was INCREDIBLE. The avocado was so fresh, the cheese melted to perfection, the chorizo so flavorful, and the bread perfectly crispy yet soft at the same time. The carne asada tacos were rubbery and bland, the chips hard as rocks, and the barbacoa completely flavorless and so greasy, emily and fatty. I have to say, the difference in the torta vs everything else was shocking. I'd definitely go back for that torta time and time again!

Met a friend for lunch and was instantly excited about the ambience and especially the music playing. It has cool beach taco spot feel with incredible art work lining the walls. The menu is well balanced with lots seafood options but also other proteins to choose from. My friend ordered the chips, salsa and guacamole basket, the flamingo and added chicken and an ice tea (which came in the bottle). They asked for a sweetener and they gave them a small cup of agave nectar which was perfect for them. I ordered the horchata, shrimp ceviche appetizer minus the chiltepín and one carne asada taco. All of the food came out quick and fresh! The tortillas are A+! Delicious corn tortillas thick enough to really hold up with a loaded taco. The carne asada also seemed quality, and with the toppings included was very flavorful. The horchata was perfect! Smooth, not grainy and delicious. The ceviche needed a little more lime but that's more of a preference thing for me. My friend said they loved everything they got and was glad they went with the guy at the register's suggestion to add the chicken. Overall great experience, great food, great ambience! Check it out if you need a good taco spot in downtown PHX.

This place is so wildly overrated and I would not recommend visiting. Let me start by saying the customer service is good, all the staff was nice. And it's also very well decorated inside. It's the food that's the issue. We ordered the fish tacos, chicken tacos, and guacamole. The guacamole is SO small for the price. Not to mention it is extremely bland. It tastes like avocado with a teaspoon of lime juice, don't waste your time ordering. Now the fish taco, flavor wise was good in comparison to the other tacos, but why lord is most of the fried fish just soggy batter???? A rip off in my opinion. And the chicken taco was so negligible. The only thing at the table that people enjoyed was the kid quesadilla with no meat. Do yourself a favor and walk down to taco boys for some real tacos.

Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. That's the kind of meal that makes you sit in your car afterward thinking about your life choices in a positive way. Enjoy. And maybe stretch beforehand because you're going to want to fight someone over the last hongos fry.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession.
