Order counter

I really wanted to like this place but it was very bleh! I did not like having to order food and drinks at the bar counter then go find a table. There was a server that brought our food to the table so I don't understand why she couldn't bring the drinks to us also? If you want to order more drinks you have to get up and go to the bar counter again. The tacos are a bit pricey for street tacos, mine were over cooked and kind of bland, so was the rice but the beans were good. The Paloma and margarita were also good but the menu is very limited! The vibes of the outdoor is what I really enjoyed the most.

This place was super cute. It felt like I was in 3 separate spaces, the bar and ordering, the couches, the outdoor patio. I like that the menu is specific. The margaritas were delicious and I tried guava! The servers were kind. You order at the front, wait for your order at the bar, and then go find a table. There is a sever coming around but she's just cleaning up tables. The down side is if you want another drink, the server can't bring it to you, you have to get back in line. This is a great spot to watch games, a few tvs. The tables at the couches are too far away because they have been bolted down and I hope there aren't a lot of indoor seating because it's gonna be a party/club at night (that would be fire because the dj was on point). The tacos were so flavorful and the carne Asada quesadilla was so delicious. The green salsa is my favorite. I will definitely be back as this business continues to grow!

El Asado, El Pollo and La Tierra tacos

I'm really happy this place moved in here. It's a great location right across the street from the light rail stop, so you can stop in before heading further downtown for a game or concert. The food was all really good and for a great price. For $69 we got a margarita, church music beer, chips with salsa and guacamole, a quesadilla, a bean and cheese burrito and four tacos. When it now costs $20 just for a burger downtown, this was a welcome change. I tried all three tacos but the pollo asado (el pollo) and carne asada (el asado) were my favorite. I also really liked the corn tortillas for the tacos. I will definitely be back and will be bringing my dog because the patio is dog-friendly.

Awesome signage

The food is delicious, 10/10. I had the carne asada tacos & Al pastor tacos. I loved the music they were playing when we arrived, the ambiance is amazing. Service is awesome. I definitely recommend trying this place next time you want tacos. Only downside is the parking, as is anything downtown. Call me old fashioned but I hate paying $15 to park.

Main level/Upstairs vibe is well-lit with a true cantina bar feel. High-top tables, seats at the bar & happy hour from 4-7 pm make it ideal for some $7 drinks!!. The collection of Tequilas is GREAT. Many of which do not contain additives. I won't lie, I thought I was a big fan until I realized I didn't recognize a lot of the tequilas they had on hand. Downstairs is a whole different vibe. Custom craft cocktails, dim lighting with artwork, and more make it feel like an upscale NYC spot in your basement. I did 2 of my favorites, Paloma De Guayaba with the custom block name etched and the Baya Nueva. While in the Cantina, I had to order my friend the Basura (trash), but that wasn't the case... then again, it is served in a plastic bag, and is definitely a throwback to my early 20's of gettin' lit!!!! It was busy, but not packed, which made the service stand out more than it should have. I had to ask for water twice, never got a refill, and overall felt largely ignored--minimal eye contact, no real warmth, just an impersonal feel that didn't match the space. It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

Clean pours. Balanced. Not over-mixed. Just enough sweetness to get you in trouble. Crowd was mixed, stylish... looked like people who know where to be without needing to post about it. The seating's cozy enough to post up and talk but open enough to float around if you're trying to socialize. It had that lounge-meets-night-out energy. Bathrooms were clean... that matters when the drinks are flowing. Never felt like a dive. Never felt like a bottle-service trap either. For those who have been around Phoenix for a while, it reminded us of the old Dressing Room. Yes, it is a bar, but the food is excellent and the drinks are fun. I had the tuna crudo, and my friend had the curry. Both were excellent. The Caesar salad dressing was the bomb. Mike, the owner, is the nicest guy, and all the artwork on the walls is his personal collection, which gives the place a really warm and local feel. It is just a great neighborhood spot without all the pomp and circumstance. A nice local place to go, relax, eat good food, and enjoy yourself.

I am writing this review with genuine reluctance, as I understand the daily challenges of running a…read morerestaurant and always prefer to handle issues privately. However, after attempting to reach out to the company via their online platform with no response, I feel I have no other choice but to share my experience here in hopes that it will finally be addressed. On April 13th, I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine. As I continued to search the menu to eventually order food the bartender had informed me of a special that gave me a bottle of wine for half the price, so I asked him to go ahead and pick a red wine. He delivered the bottle and as I started to enjoy my very first sips of the first pour, I continued to browse the menu to decide what to eat. While browsing, I noticed a roach crawling on the bar top in front of me and making its way around my wine glass and bottle before going back behind the bar where all garnishes are kept. I quietly but immediately alerted the bartender and he asked me what I would like him to do. I told him that I truthfully had no answer as I have never experienced this before but I would give him discretion to do what he thinks is right. He understood and apologized stating that there is recent construction behind the bar and they have been having an issue. He approached the end of the bar where I was sitting and pulled out a can of Raid and sprayed the area where I was and in the direction the roach traveled. This completely ruined the evening, and I asked to close out. The bartender, while polite, asked what he could do to make it right. Being quite frantic and uncomfortable in the moment, I let him know that given the circumstances I would be leaving without ordering food and would not be taking the now untouched bottle of wine. Given that I had a nearly full bottle of wine that I could no longer enjoy due to the environment, I expected the bottle to be comped or something. Instead, I was only credited for the initial single glass and was charged full price for the bottle that I left behind and did not drink. I understand that pest control issues can happen unexpectedly in the industry, which is why I didn't want to make a scene or immediately jump to a negative public review. I wanted to give management the opportunity to address both the handling of the situation (spraying chemical pesticides next to a guest's beverage) and the billing. Sadly, the complete lack of acknowledgement or response to my inquiries over the last four weeks is what brings me here. I had hoped the leadership team would take these matters with more consideration. I truly hope the next guest is able to enjoy their experience more than I did, and that management takes this as an opportunity to improve their communication and protocol.

My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.
