Each of these items were delicious, but I'd return for the ceviche and chilaquiles. The ceviche was a delicious mix of sweet and salty. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. We came to celebrate two birthdays with a party of 15, and unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. Our server Enrique barely came around, and even when we thanked him, we received no response or acknowledgment. Customer service has just gone down the drain! At the end of our dinner, after spending over $600 as a group, my husband mentioned that we were celebrating two birthdays. The server's response was, "Well, I will have to charge you for two cakes because you didn't tell me on time." My husband paid for the cakes, of course, but the way the situation was handled was very disappointing and left a bad impression. We chose this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, especially because we have been coming here for years, and unfortunately, the experience took away from what should have been a happy celebration. With a large party and a bill combined of over $600, we expected much better service and hospitality. Very disappointing experience, especially after coming here for years. Taco Beach in Long Beach is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the vibrant and lively atmosphere sets the perfect tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The decor is fun and inviting, with a laid-back beach vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The food is simply outstanding. Every taco is a flavor explosion, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced spices. The Baja Fish Tacos are a must-try, bursting with fresh fish, crunchy slaw, and a zesty sauce that ties it all together beautifully. The Carne Asada Tacos are equally impressive, with tender, juicy beef and rich, savory flavors. The service is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The bartenders mix up some of the best margaritas in town, making Taco Beach not only a great place to eat but also a fantastic spot to unwind with friends. Whether you're a local or just visiting Long Beach, Taco Beach should be at the top of your list. Delicious food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a 5-star experience every time.
