We came here for lunch and had a tostada salad with my mom. The tostada "salads" had barely any lettuce on them. Also, salads aren't supposed to be liquidy. The salads were both really mushy. It made us both sick. Music was way too loud we had to raise our voices to hear each other. The music was loud heavy rock, during lunch time! VERY disturbing. Gave us headaches! The waitress seemed to be rushed for us to leave, she didn't ask us how the food was or if we wanted dessert. She just put down the check, hardly saying anything. Highly unlikely that I'll be visiting here ever again. read more

First time here and I'm impressed! Chips and salsa to start ya off and it was delish! I got a choice of two with rice and beans. My two choices were an asada taco and cheese enchilada, both were delicious. The tortillas for tacos are so good, light and fluffy! Everything was good. Service was great. Wasn't any parking in lot but found street parking! read more

I have, been to taco beach a few times. I love the service, food portions for the price are generous!. It is a neighborhood restaurant, bar so a little busy, noisy. I was not bothered. When, I was eating, with friends and wanting a quieter , environment we dined outside for conversation, and calmer dining experience. I love, that as soon as you enter , no matter how busy you are promptly seated, served chips , and water/ beverage while waiting. My only complaint, would be that it seems to take a long time for the server, to run your credit/ bank card , bring back card and receipt. And one time double charged me. And other than that, great , food , and fun atmosphere, in the beautiful Los Altos neighborhood, of Longbeach. read more

Stopped into Taco beach for some food and a drink and I was delighted with tasty Baja tacos and a extra cold beverage. I like the fact they keep their glasses in a freezer. It definitely helps keep the drink colder longer. Megan was my server and she did an over the top job! Quick to greet me as I sat down she recommended the exact beer I was thinking and also put me on to the Baja style tacos! Excellent choices. I was very impressed with the service. She made me feel very comfortable like i was a regular. I will definitely be back soon and going to make this my new local spot read more

Worst tacos in the world it's really cold and dry and the beans and rice looked totally microwaved and had no flavor just plain bland. I swear this the worst spot to go to for tacos or any kind of mexican food. iTS HORRIBLE don't eat here read more

I enjoy this place. Never had a bad meal here. Nothing crazy special, but it's a bit better than your average dive Mexican food joint. They have a great happy hour and good drinks. Wanna watch a game? You'll usually find a few games to watch here. Pricing is really reasonable. We'll defiantly keep coming back. Very causal (and somewhat loud) environment. A clean place too. read more

Taco Tuesday!!!!!! Now you are talking. Had 2 fish tacos and a shredded beef taco.....oh yeah and a schooner of Modelo. I sat at the bar and was immediately met with a friendly bartender. She was very attentive and always asked me if I needed anything else. The tacos were large and were delicious. For a taco Tuesday , they definitely do not cut back on the service and quality. I am so stuffed but there is always room for another beer. read more

I live in the neighborhood. I was wanted a margarita but I didn't want to go to a bigger restaurant that might be more crowded. So I was at the stop light and decided to stop in an try this place again. Well, sadly, this is Mexican food. The margarita was really bad. I definitely have had better. Glad I didn't have the larger version. The salsa was tasteless, just tomatoes and water pretty much. I asked for the spicer one and it was spicy but still tasteless. I had their burrito pipeline( I think it is called). It was again not tasty. It was just food. There is a place up the street on Atherton that is much MUCH better than this place. Too bad cuz the location is great and the size of the place is nice. But that was it, my second time here and my last. The service was nice. That s it for me! read more

Taco Beach is awful. Went in Friday night, place was packed. Sat in a booth in the back and it was sweltering hot..no air circulating and all the windows/doors closed. Food was NOT good. Chile Relleno was greasy and burnt. Beans had NO flavor. Margarita's were teeny time like 8 OZ glasses, maybe 10OZ and about 9.00 each. We had a party of 6 and split the bill 3 ways on cards. We each left an 8.00 tip so 18.00. After we got home I was looking at the bill and noticed the waitress had added 18% gratuity so another 21.00. Of course she didn't bother pointing out this auto-gratuity..so she made 39.00 of our 148.00 bill..NOT PLEASED and will be calling the restaurant about this. read more

Good atmosphere and fast friendly service. I got the chicken fajitas, it came with rice and beans. Large portions, there was plenty of food to take home. I also got a large draft goose island beer. Prices are very fair for what you get. read more

The happy hour at this location was excellent! I went with some coworkers to celebrate the Thanksgiving break to give it a try. The drink specials were a solid deal for schooners of beer. The truly memorable thing, after the beer lol, was how good their carne asada fries tasted. This things were delicious perfect amount of topping and the fries were cooked to perfection. The chips and salsa were also good quality and worthy of a refill. Not sure how the rest of the food is yet, but I will be back. Good customer service and modern decor make this restaurant a cool place to go. read more

The fish tacos are great! but nothing else. the service is whatever kind of feels like dismissive. I've gone about 4 times all at different times just to see if it was just me. But I sat at the bar with a co-worker and same thing the gal that was there looked annoyed when we would ask a questions. Mind you it was after the lunch rush and there was one older gentleman on the corner that she kept giggling with. once she turned to talk to us was just a 160. read more

Mahi tacos tasted a bit old. Also, went twice (veggie burrito was a bit better), and both times there seemed to be nobody in charge. No one at the hostess stand. Our waiter, Andrew, was awesome, but should have had more help, like someone bussing the tables. They also were out of margaritas!! The second time my wife asked to speak to the manager or owner and was told there wasn't a manager on site. Wtf? read more

It was grate been here a few time it's always good , they always deliver . Even when you order it to go always hot .

I ordered the California burrito. This was the worst carne asada meat I've ever had. First of all there was no flavor and I found myself spitting out unchewable grisled parts that I could have choked on. Obviously not high grade beef. The chips were cold. On the positive side, the restaurant itself and the bathroom is very, very clean. read more

Have been there a lot, great place since I live few blocks away, food is great and I always get great service. They give you a lot of food for a fair price. Those who complain need to get a grip and understand a few things but guess that will not happen either. SO TACO BEACH is ok, They covered up the people running , that resembled signs near Sad Diego for the illegals, which was not cool but now its gone. Like the server CC, who is fast, good and polite, ask for her. MY mom who is 74 loves the place and she is picky as HELL,,,,,,,,,, read more

I was so excited to see a new restaurant! How disappointing. I really wanted to love this new restaurant in my neighborhood. Here's what went wrong: 1. Walked in at 9:00. Although they have a bar, they can't serve alcohol past 9:00. 2. Because we couldn't have a beer, we asked for iced tea. They were out of iced tea. 3. The server who sat us said it was Taco Tuesday. All tacos are $2.00, except grilled fish. When we got our bill, the chicken and asada tacos were $2.00, but the others (neither one of which were grilled fish) were regular price. 4. No salt, pepper, or Tapatio on the table. There wasn't anything on the table! Maybe a specials menu with the actual taco price would be a good idea. 5. BF asked for no lettuce on his tacos. He got lettuce. He said something right when the server brought them, so the she took them back. We got to listen to the manager (owner?) bitch out the cooks. Very Chef Ramsey. 6. I ordered two tacos, one pork and one baja (fried fish). The pork itself was actually pretty good, but the tortillas were stuck together. When a taco comes with two tortillas, I like the option to abandon one. 7, The fish was WAY overdone. Sometimes, fried food can look dark because the oil is old. This was just burnt. 8. I also ordered soup, which came after the tacos. I asked for no tortilla strips. I got tortilla strips. Plus, the soup was lukewarm. 9. The problem with the above issues: Our server never came back to our table until she dropped our check. At that point, she did not ask about my entirely uneaten taco and soup. She did not ask us how we liked our dinner, she did not ask if we needed anything else. She had her own agenda, and it did not include customer service. 10. When she came back to collect payment, I asked her to take the soup off the bill. She offered to get me another one, but really? It was way too late for that. 11. The manager (owner?) looked very official with a pencil behind his ear, but he was focused on the staff, not the customers. I sound grumpy, but I owned a restaurant. I know you can serve someone twenty wonderful meals and they will keep coming back. However, if you disappoint them just once, you may never see them again. Also, the mistakes with the food are forgivable. They just opened and they need to get used to the menu, the kitchen, etc. The inattentiveness, however, is inexcusable. You can make up for a lot of sins by being personable. Our server was inadequate and untrained, but that isn't necessarily her fault. I blame the guy with the pencil. read more

Sad - wanted to like this place. Every person in our party complained about feeling like they had MSG toxicity. Because of this, none of us will return. Maybe they use commercial spice mixes or bullion that has MSG or another chemical preservatives. Not sure but given that all of the people in our party feeling this way, seems it's in their food somewhere. So if you're sensitive to MSG OR similar chemical preservatives, you may want to pass on this place. Atmosphere was nice, server was great. In response to the restaurants response, NONE of us had alcohol. You may want to read all the labels of the ingredients you use including bulk spices. read more

Great food love their shrimp tacos yummy and the rice is also so yummy my coworkers got Carne Asada plates and they loved it

It's sad because their food actually isn't that bad. Their service just sucks. I've given this place multiple chances to do better and they haven't. Our waitress,Brenda A, was taking our drink orders and when the guys were deciding she just walked away without saying anything. It was ridiculous and took forever to come back. It's like we were waiting on her. It was nice she gave another shot to the guys because their margaritas were weak, but nothing will excuse constantly bad service from this place. Yea we are students but we will still tip you the normal 15-20% if you do a good job. Btw they take the alcohol off your table at 9 and babysit you until then. And I'm never coming back here again. read more

Just had a DELICIOUS Monday night dinner with the fam off the happy hour menu. Best margaritas in town ($4)... happy hour on food, too, all night... happy hour foods included scrumptious taquitos and delicious shrimp tacos and fish tacos. Aaaand the chips and salsa are the bomb. Dinner for 3 plus a drink for mom and dad for about $30. Plus awesome 90s throw back music in the background and a friendly server, Lexie, who consistently checked in on us with a smile. Nice Monday for us! I think this will be our regular go-to nowadays over the local competitors. read more

Mediocre food. Took forever to get bill. Worst park is, I wasted my cheater (diet) meal on this crap. :( Chips seem store bought. Meh. Salsa was mediocre at best. Could use flavor and even the tiniest bit of heat. I ordered a double house margarita. Tasted like pineapple, which normally I'd like except I was expecting a margarita. I'm a light weight so I usually am able to "feel" a double margarita. Not this one. The hubby ordered the Jefe margarita. Not much better. For lunch I ordered the Tres Amigos. Taco, tamale and chile relleno. It came with rice and beans. I asked for pinto beans, got refried. :( rice was meh. Taco was the best thing on the plate. Mine was crane asada and was stuffed full of lettuce, cheese and pico. Not bad, but not worth it. Tamale was a thick masa and little meat in the middle. The relleno was gross. Could barely find it under the ton of red sauce smothering it all. Not a good sign when there should be 5 distinct items on your plate and you can't really tell which is which bc they're all smothered. (Should have taken a picture.). Husband got the Pipeline burrito. He said it was just ok. Ate half of it and felt like a brick in his stomach after. Service was friendly and prompt at first. Then it took us forever to get the bill. Will not be returning. read more

For potato tacos, ABSOLUTELY YES!! For a late night snack after a night out, I would also totally recommend this place. For anything else, I would not. Their margaritas taste like they are pre-made and their rice is a little less than flavorful. Honestly we now only go here for potato tacos and beer. read more

Our waitress was incompetent at best. Ordered a double Hefe margarita without salt, came with salt. They brought one without pretty sure they just poured from the salted cup to another, it was salty tasting still and very watery. How do you mess up a margarita?! My son ordered a bean/cheese burrito with fries and ranch and she brought a quesadilla with fries and no ranch. The enchilada with beef was greasy ground beef that resembled animal food, dark dry crumbs yet somehow saturated in pools of bright orange grease. The beans were flavorless (lard and salt please omg). Also the orange soda doesn't taste like fanta I swear they add some weird syrup it was on the outside of the lid on cup they brought my son. It was thick and sticky on the outside and tasted gross like tang!!!! Our server didn't communicate or apologize for bringing any wrong items and actually looked a bit gape mouthed and confused when it was pointed out. Usually the service makes up for the lackluster wishes it was Mexican gringo food but tonight was a total miss!!!!! read more

Came here for taco Tuesday with a small group(5). Horrible service. We had to ask for everything. We tried to be patient but honestly left here and probably will never go back. No menu for "taco Tuesday" no liquor served after 9(we arrived @8) and even after we waited an hour still got turned down for beer. I'll definitely be returning to Hole Mole instead. I was extremely disappointed: 1. We got seated and given a menu. We were never told we had to be seated on the other side for the Taco Tuesday menu? Okay so we'll sit on that side? If we stayed on the side we were seated we would be charged $4 for the same $2 taco's? 2. After waiting 1 hour we finally chased a waitress down and got to order, however it was now 8:59 and so we could not order beer or drinks from the bar? 3. Food was horrible. 4. Even after we mentioned we waited 2 hours(and believe me had it not been for our good friend not wanting to leave) I would have walked out and went to Hole Mole and they probably never noticed. The waiter/owner was not in the best of moods( in his defense I want to hope he was stressed due to the opening but it should not reflect your facial expressions and I should not be able to tell that you have a sour grumpy face) I will say that I did not know it was only day 2 of being open for business, so I hope they can figure out the menu and seating for this place. Food was very over cooked, tortillas not good(like previous girl said) two big tortillas stuck together. Fish looked like it was a fish stick that had been put in a deep fryer. yuck read more

This is really sad...the owners of this place put a lot of money into creating a very nice environment...very inviting. The food was nothing short of great...and the service was spectacular. So why only 3 stars? I had my family including 4 kids, and we were sitting next to a nice couple, and we had to listen to no less than 50 F-bombs and S-bombs from the trashy guys at the bar...turns out one of them was the manager!...just drinking beer and dropping F-bombs...that's a first. I asked the waitress why they allowed it and she said, "well they have been drinking for quite a while." Poor girl, she was just telling the truth. I have seen this movie before at places that try to have a "family" atmosphere but, because of the seedy clientele at the bar, drive families away. If you care about having your 9-15 year old kids and wife hearing F-bombs all dinner long, you might want to steer clear. For those of you bar flies that like to drink for hours on end and drop F-bombs...it's your place. And at least you have some good food to soak up some of that booze. read more

Horrible service, chicken tasted old and reheated. I could not even cut the chicken asada with a steak knife. I pointed this out to the waitress all she said was sorry. No offer to replace the inedible rubber chicken or replace it with something else. When we asked to have it taken off the check we were told no since I had eaten the beans and rice. Then the "manager" came out and pretty much called me a liar and did not want to take it off the bill. Seriously you want me to pay for food that was not eaten because it was so awful. I have never seen such horrible treatment of customers. The waitress needs to be trained to fix the food unless it's always bad. Manager seriously needs some customer service skills. Avoid this place. If this is how they treat people they will not be open long. read more

What is this place? A sports bar? A cantina? A restaurant? A fast food joint? What ever it aspires to be...it does none of them justice...pick one then do it right... The televisions look like a sports bar...but the small bar that also serves as the bar for the restaurant looks like an after thought.. are the "counter" tables the bar or part of the tables for the restaurant that circles the perimeter? The food was real "bar food" quality which would be OK if it was a true bar...but not for a restaurant...and the prices while reasonable for a restaurant are not for the fast food quality you get...its not a cantina like the one downtown (the waitress said it was the same company?) ...its not Hole Mole or Chronic Taco ( just blocks away) ...its not El Toritio or Acapulco (which are just a mile away) so what is this place trying to be???? The Taco's are OK-but even at $2.00 on Tuesday are not a deal comapred to Hole Mole or Great Mex...the chips are good...but if you go to a Mexican bar for the chips...El Toritio and Acapulco have better bars, more space and better service...the food is ok- but for the price and atmosphere my friends and I were trying to figure out what this chain was thinking...its too small -not in a good way there were a lot of kids with their parents so it did not have the college feel of 2nd street that my friends and I like...maybe if they pick an option- bar, restaurant or fast food and stick to it they will be successful- good luck..but as for my friends and I its not for us read more

I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant from the moment I stepped into it. The host stand is basically in the back of the restaurant. And the inside is so unbearably empty it's sad. The food was mediocre and the price was ridiculous. Paying almost nine dollars for a bean and cheese burrito that was so runny it wouldn't stay together, and had to be eaten with a fork and knife. I will not be returning. This place was better when it was a 50s burger joint. read more

I live in a nearby neighborhood, so I thought after 3 tries the service would get better each time, considering the first visit was right after the grand opening. Even on the third visit, Hubby and I got a babysitter and sat at the bar, just to see if the service experience was any different. Definitely not! The service has been terrible in the past, I do not expect it to change any time soon. Systematic and leadership problem. I would rather drive somewhere than walk to eat here. read more

The food my wife and I had here was fantastic. She had the shrimp enchiladas and I had the drunken carnitas plate. Both were really flavorful and high quality. We also got the tamarindo and horchata, which were both very good. The price you pay for the quality and quantity of food you get is excellent. The reason they are getting four stars instead of five is because I told the waitress I wanted guacamole on the side and she brought out a full appetizer after she told us guac came with the meal. We told her that would be plenty and we didn't need any extra. On the plus side, you get a lot of guacamole for 4.75! read more

I really want to like this place because we live so close but I always leave feeling indifferent. They have a big menu but for a place called Taco Beach you would think the tacos would be easier to find...maybe change the header to "Tacos". The food is only average at best, no real complaints but it tastes like most their product is off the store shelf...hopefully it gets better. The atmosphere is nice and the service is too, will be great if they can serve a drink past 9. My one real complaint is their chips. They're absolutely the worst, they really need to start making them fresh. read more

We love taco beach. Food & service are great And the horchata is the best.. homemade! This has become our family's go to!

We have gone to Taco Beach a number of times since they opened and up until the last two times have been satisfied with the service, the atmosphere and the hearty meals. Reasonably priced for what we got. The time before last I didn't mention to my husband that my burrito tasted funny and not good. Thought it was a fluke. Last night we went for a late dinner with friends. 3 of the 4 meals were not good enough to bring us back. One fish meal was "bland" and seemed to lack spices....salt. My husband's grilled fish taco's were only okay. The chicken in my Caesar Chicken Salad was terrible! So rubbery I picked it all out. We were very disappointed as we love little neighborhood joints where we can go at the last minute, but I think from now on, it's back to our indie favorite down the street, El Burrito Grill. read more
